This place is amazing! My husband I and often roll out of bed on the weekends and give each other a "lets go to Rex's" look. Eggs Cabrillo are awesome, I love to get the Pt. Fermin omelet with egg whites. Their muffins are way worth the carby splurge. My hubby loves their coffee (and often goes and gets in instead of putting down my watery blend). Such a great place to have breakfast! The ingredients are fresh and there are a ton of options on the menu- something for everyone. They are also really accommodating about substitutions or tweaking something so that it's just to your liking. My fav- the point fermin omelet. It's a small place, so if you come at peak hours on the weekend, you will have to wait. But that's always a good sign! read more

Favorite place for pancakes (big as the plate and an inch thick)! Everything I've had was sooo good that I would just eat until I was 110% full. And the prices are great because the portions are pretty big. The place is really small and you can only street park, which is hard to find at times. But I always go whenever I can anyway. Looked up a breakfast place on Yelp. Picked this place purely on reviews. It was so delicious. My husband and I waited only 10 minutes with a cup of coffee and diet coke. We will go back for sure. The location is not great but the restaurant is darling and the service is friendly and attentive. The omelette I ordered was perfectly balanced between eggs and fillings. Everything was very...meh. The muffin, although hot out of the oven was bland and hard, same with the bagels. No seasoning on the steak, or potatoes, or anything else. Disappointing. Service was pretty good for a busy Sunday though, so kudos for that. read more

One of my favorite casual breakfast spots. They have lots of healthy options including brown rice instead of hash browns. Love their salsa on my veggie scramble and they have the BEST fruit salad. I never order fruit salad - except when I go to Rex's. Great portion size. Delicious stuffed French Toast. Shredded beef in machaca omlette a bit too large but tasty. Coffee good.

We went here for the first time a few days ago. We didn't realize we were arriving a little before they close. Waitress was not unfriendly, but was quick and short. Our burger was red inside and I asked if that is how they are prepared and our waitress said yes, yet I saw it written nowhere on the menu. She never asked us how we wanted it cooked. Kitchen was closed by the time we got our food and we only like burgers well done so we had no choice but to keep it, but it never eaten by my mom. The breakfast burrito was average size. AMAZING!! Fresh food, great flavor. Salads are my personal fav, great portion, comes with a bagel. The Santa Fe Salad is to die for!! Absolute favorite and I can never order anything else because I can't help but want to get it when I'm there!! Their pancakes are huge as well. Really great Mexican hot chocolate!! They even made a monkey in the foam. Really great place for breakfast and lunch. Not a huge place tho so get there early for a seat or you'll have to wait. Highly recommended! read more

Rex's is a quaint local diner, with good but not remarkable food. The interior is small and the patio area is microscopic, but the food was fairly good and the service was attentive. The pancakes were humongous, and very absorbent. The coffee was pretty good, but the sodas came in cans - so no refills. read more

Delish! The banana caramel french toast special was soooo good. Some frenz and I shared the banana almond and lemon muffin. Seemed homemade and maybe made with an alternative flour.-very good. The Mediterranean omelette was also delicious. Our group enjoyed every dish! Great service too! read more

I really like this place. I got the Chilequiles with chicken. The salsas are AMAZING. Everything impressed me except for the chicken add-on which was $1.50... It was a tiny portion and the chicken was sort of dry. Oh well, I'm still coming back next time I am in Pedro. read more

I love this place, and I have never had a bad experience here! It gets crowded on weekends (it's small, not hard to do) and there's only street parking. Not great for large groups or strollers. 4 people tops! The portions are huge and good, with fresh ingredients. The pancakes are as big as the plate! The only time I ever finished one was when I was pregnant. Lol! But we always get great service and perfect food when we go here, and even my dad, who is hard to impress, liked it enough to come here twice when he was in town. read more

We came in for breakfast on Thursday morning and we're excited by their many vegetarian options! We got a eggs Carrillo and a breakfast burrito with soy chorizo. Both were very tasty. We also heard good things about their muffins, but our banana walnut was dry and hard like it had been microwaved. Hot chocolate portion was huge, but was just hot milk and chocolate syrup. Nothing fancy or special. Felt like a rip off for the price! Juice was good, and so was the service. read more

Used to come here for brunch because they had authentic, fresh, house-made hollandaise sauce (integral/crucial for proper Eggs Benedict or its many variants)...but as I stared aghast at the menu and at my watery, colourless excuse for coffee...flavourless as well, no surprise...its evident it's no longer offered. MAJOR bummer. Seems real "holly" should be readily available at the hundreds of restaurants in the South Bay but it just ain't so. This'll be my last meal here...Martha's in Hermosa or antique Admiral Risty in PV still have the good stuff...sigh read more

We purposely drove out to have breakfast at Rex's today. We got there around 11. It was drizzling, there were some people huddling out front, but it didn't look to be that bad of a wait. I ran in (leaving my husband and 2 kids to wait in the car). No one greeted me, nor asked if I needed a table. So I proceeded to the back podium where the wait staff congregates to tally tabs. BOTH of the people standing there looked at me, looked at each other, laughed and rolled their eyes, and never said a word. Less than 2 feet away, and nothing. Walking back out, the hostess asked if I needed something, I asked how long a wait. She looked over her list (2 parties waiting) and just kept pointing to each name/party size and saying "ummm, uh, I mean I have 2 big parties". Don't hurt yourself in trying to figure out what to tell me sweetheart. I'll see my way out! We went to the Omlette & Waffle Shop down the street where we were seated right away (as busy as it was), food was out promptly, and we were THANKED for coming in. Rex's is good. I hate when good restaurants have bad service!!! read more

I accidentally found this place, starving with a friend.. Driving around in San Pedro for 4 hrs trying to decide on a place to eat was not fun. Anyway, we stopped at 6 different places before we actually settled on Rex's, and it was probably one of the best decisions we both made. The look and feel of the place was almost like someones home. Very cozy, and from my first experience, everyone knew everyone... From how the prices where, it was reasonable considering the amount of food they put on the plate.. The pancakes were killer... I've never seen a pancake sooo big (unless someone where to make one at home) And their crazy mocha is probably the most interesting and tasty drink they have.... This place is one of San Pedro's secret treasures! It's literally like a little hole I'm wall, easily missed. But once you find it you finally realize what you've been missing out on! Great food! They give really big portions so you definitely get your money's worth. Plus the staff is very friendly and attentive. The only downside is that it can get a little crowded in there because the restaurant is very small. Don't let that stop you though, check it out! ;) read more

This is a lovely little joint, well-priced and with excellent food. My particular favorite is the veggie scramble which is just loaded with everything from carrots to cauliflower. The fruit bowels are more then just melons and wonderful and the pancakes are huge--one is more than enough. Also, the granola "cup" is actually a bowel, just so you know. read more

Oh man!!!! This is the BEST place in Pedro!!!! Food is fresh. Coffee is strong and delicious. I have never had anything I didn't like. The staff is great. Wait time is reasonable. If you go on the weekend you may have to wait a bit but its OH SO WORTH IT!!! :) Enjoy.
