This place is a hidden neighborhood gem. Even though I live close by, I can't say that I frequent it very often. But I've enjoyed just about everything I've tried. My favorite thing here is their breakfast Cuban. Just the bread alone is a 10. The sandwich is on the small side, but it's a hearty sandwich that will fill you up. The breakfast burrito is also great. Tried a couple of their loaf cakes and they're good too. Had coffee only a couple of times. I liked their cortado. Stopped by Rex for breakfast and it turned out to be a really solid spot. The place has a clean, simple vibe with a big selection of pastries and food. Definitely more than your typical coffee shop. I ordered the breakfast Cubano and a flat white. The Cubano was excellent. The pork was moist and flavorful, the pickles and egg worked perfectly together, and the brioche bun was toasted to a golden brown with that perfect crunch. It was a little on the smaller side, but the quality made up for it. Easily one of the better breakfast sandwiches I've had in the city. The flat white was fine, it did the job. The food is definitely the star here. Seating is pretty limited, most seats are usually taken. Still, I'd 100% come back for the sandwiches and the calm atmosphere when you can find a spot. I place my order and also order a small black iced coffee. As I'm sipping on my iced coffee (which was quite good), the kind gentleman behind the counter informs me they are out of bacon and asks me if I want a different meat instead. Hmm, how can you just run out of bacon? I went with sausage. Although the sandwich was tasty, I wish it was a sausage patty instead of sausage links. Patties are just better for breakfast sandwiches. Favorite local coffee shop. Iced coffee is excellent, as is - smooth without any sharp acidity or bitterness. My favorite pastry here is the olive oil muffin. It's moist and chewy yet has slightly crispy edges which are delicious. The egg sandwiches are great here too. The brioche is excellent. Ngl I didn't expect this to be good but my chorizo breakfast burrito was actually fire. On the smaller side for sure but it was just like 8 bucks. Tons of flavor and lots of meat and actually a nice lil bit of spice. Service was good too. They were quick. I mean it's a lil coffee shop so not much of an ambiance. A gem in the city. My cousin took me here, she said the coffee was one of the best around and that they also had yummy eats for breakfast. Once you walk in, you can see the menu to the left for food and look up for the drink menu. I got an iced dirty chai with oat milk and it was the best coffee I had in NY at this point. Def get the brioche with chorizo, I also added spinach and jalepeños... warm and fresh, fluffy eggs and some salsa to top it off. The workers were super polite and helpful. They have different bread options (no rolls) some of which are extra cost--my English muffin was $2 more but worth it IMO. Not cheap, my sandwich and hot tea was $13.45, but worth it. There are a couple of small communal tables if you want to eat there. It was empty at 8:30am on a Saturday but was packed an hour later so expect a wait if you go at peak time. read more

First visit and I'm already hooked. I stopped by after a taping of The Drew Barrymore Show based on the recommendation of a friend, and while this small coffee shop/cafe looks unassuming, the quality of their products blew me away. My friend and I each ordered the half Reuben sandwich (only $7), a drink, and on our way out their new molasses cookie (which had a caramel melted in the middle). The half Reuben sandwich was toasted perfectly and had the perfect amount of melty, cheesy goodness. While I probably could have finished a full sandwich, the half definitely hit the spot and was a fantastic price. To drink, I ordered a dirty chai latte and even though it was in a to-go cup, the barista still added cute latte art which was a nice touch. Water, using glass jars as cups, is available for dine in and was a nice eco-friendly alternative to a plastic cup most places offer. We ended up enjoying our sandwiches and drinks at one of the tables located inside - shared with a couple others who were working on their laptops. I wish this place was closer to my everyday activities but I can see myself going out of the way to come back here soon. More locations would be even better though! read more

With such great reviews, I thought I definitely made the right choice. My order came to $18 and was ready about 5 minutes later. When I grabbed the bag I thought maybe there was a mistake.. but no, the sandwich is truly that tiny. I kid you not, one half of the sandwich was smaller than my fist, and I don't have big hands!!! I added turkey to the blt (mistakenly thought it was ham but retracted as that was incorrect). I will say, it tasted good and I was able to sit at one of the few tables inside. Why does this place has such raving reviews? The menu is extremely limited, prices are very high, and if you come after 2pm, forget about it, most of the food items are gone. My supervisor frequents this place often, so we went here for a lunch bite on a 2:30pm Monday, when the place was deserted. My advice: this is NOT a lunch place. This is a coffee shop. The only food options available so late in the day are five sandwiches and the soup of the day. Only one of those sandwiches comes with meat, which is $11 Cuban. For $11 for a sandwich, I was expecting something extraordinary. But it was just a good sandwich. It was on a larger side, but most of the bulk came from the white bread. There was a tiny smear of sauce on the top bun. I hate dry sandwiches. The pulled pork was good, but ham was chewy and bland. Cheese was not properly melted. There could have been more pickle. Nice local spot in Hell's Kitchen! They have the typical array of espresso drinks like lattes, cappuccinos, cortados, mochas, as well as drip coffee. I asked for a flat white as that is my new go to drink- to me it has a great proportion of milk to espresso. As such, flat whites have also become my standard drink used to compare between different cafes. I did really enjoy my oat milk flat white here and would come back for it ! Great strong and smooth espresso with pretty latte art. They have non dairy milks such as oat and almond. There is an extra charge for non dairy milk. Hopefully all places will one day not have a surcharge for choosing plant based ! In addition to coffee, they are also known for their breakfast sandwiches. You can choose an egg sandwich for $3.50- and add other ingredients such as sausage etc. you can also choose brioche or croissant as the "bread". It seems like a popular item- I personally didn't try it. And hopefully they will have vegan sandwiches one day. They also have a small assortment of house made pastries! Everything is made in house. There were 2 vegan options when I went- a strawberry vegan muffin and a granola/nut bar. Didn't try at this time but I intend to visit again for another delicious flat white and try the vegan pastries. Service was very friendly ! The store itself is pretty small. Limited seating inside. I personally had a great experience on a Sunday morning around 11am. The server was nice and barista was friendly and made a good latte. I had breakfast Cuban sandwich (half size for breakfast) and egg sandwich with brioche/ tomato/ sausage/ salsa verde (on the side). Since I was the first on the line, I didn't had to wait long for my food. However, I can see that it can take awhile for food to come out if there are a lot of people. My partner and I thought it was one of the best breakfast sandwich we had in the city. I am not going to say it's on the cheap side if you do add a lot for topping.
