Our guests and my husband and I are not big dancers, but we are music nerds. We wanted to create an energetic lounge vibe. We were assigned DJ Chris Mass Transit. He is the nicest guy who is deeply dedicated to his craft and love for music. The questionnaire is long but well worth the time and effort. We met Chris a week before the wedding to go over it and had a good time talking about music with him. He clearly wanted to be prepared because he asked great questions about the reception timeline and other details. On the wedding day, Chris created a playlist that perfectly matched our vision. Throughout the night he continued to read the room and keep everyone entertained. Our friends and family could not stop talking about the music. They excitedly looked at us with each song and started reminiscing and laughing about old memories. Chris also expertly managed the reception timeline. The musical transitions and the entire evening went smoothly. He's able to adjust quickly on the fly, like when we wanted to cut the father-daughter dance short. He was especially lively and energetic when announcing the entrance of our wedding party and really helped set the tone for the evening. Once the dancing started, John seemed to have a great feel for the room and knew exactly what songs would keep the dance floor packed and the energy up. He put together a great mix of upbeat dance songs and slower songs, and the music never seemed to lose momentum. But, the day of the wedding, the DJ told my husband they were having Wi-Fi issues and couldn't access the playlist. He didn't know why the songs on the playlist weren't downloaded by the DJ before the wedding in case there were Wi-Fi issues. Guests also requested songs multiple times and were told by the DJ that they couldn't be played due to the Wi-Fi issues. Then when I asked why our playlist wasn't played, I was told "You didn't say the playlist was a must play". I wish we were told by the DJ that we needed to say that the entire playlist was "must play" during the planning phase.The DJ also didn't read the room and hype up our guests to get on the dance floor until the last song, so it felt a little dead throughout the wedding. The guests that danced were OK with the playlist, thankfully, but the DJ experience was pretty disappointing overall. If we knew the DJ experience was going to be sub-par, we probably wouldn't have paid our venue's additional audio tie-in fee.
