Revive Auto Repair will now be our family's FIRST choice for any of our auto care needs! My car ('15 RAV4, with about 92k miles) is pretty well maintained, but it started making a very subtle clacking sound ( which I thought scary and sounds expensive). I booked an appointment online ( which was smooth and easy), and was prepared to spend an exorbitant amount of money. Because that is just what I expect when going to an auto repair shop or dealership service center. When my husband and I arrived, the mechanic (I wish I would have gotten his name) at the front desk was very welcoming and friendly. He really listened to understand as I explained my car issue. He immediately knew what could be wrong with my car, took my keys, and asked us to give him about 5-10 minutes. After about 5-7 minutes, he pulled my car around to the front. Hands me my keys, and told me I was all good. My husband asked, "What do we owe you?" He said "nothing!" I was in complete shock! I have never had an experience where I walked away from a car repair shop or dealership without paying something, even for a very minor fix. This seemly small interaction, spoke volumes for us. They just gained customers for life, not just because he didn't attempt to overcharge us, but because he really listened, was honest, and knowledgeable about the simple fix. So this was our third time going to this place. Let me correct, my husband had gone to it before. When i went in today (wed) after i called Monday. At first the guy at window (while he was on phone ) said "you will have to drop the car for whole day. " then he finished his call. Repeated same thing and then said @whats wrong with the car?" I told him. He goes "is it doi g it today?" I said "no". i informed him i am by myself , my husband was not in town...back n forth....he said ok let me look. Literally he was back in 3 mins by my watch and said "your car smells like a dead mouse, i cant drive it. My eyes are watering." His eyes looked fine to me. Then, he yelled at my kid for bouncing on sofa (sitting) before giving me a chance to tell my son to not do it. Or asking me to tell my son to stop. (He could see him, i could not because i was kindda sideways to the couch). Then He says "if u remove your mask, you can smell it." I wore mask inside the store, never in my car. I told him if u don't want to service , don't find excuses. Then he says "when your husband returns, have him bring the car." I said "no thanks. We are not coming to get insulted again." So don't go to this shop if you are a woman. The guy saw me and he did not bother listening. Pretty much insulted me and my son. I would love to see their defense on this. How low will they go ? After checking the electrical systems with the code scanner to find all of the control panels & ecm communicating, indicating no damage, and that there was never any water present within the engine my ability to do further diagnostics was limited at that point. On a Sunday morning I found a mechanic and related my situation. Before having the Audi delivered to his facility met with him to more fully detail the 5 month odyssey of dealing with Nick & Revive's scam job. In appraising the positive commitment & integrity of this mechanic, I had the Audi delivered to his facility. Within 10 minutes of the Audi's arrival, the new mechanic had an engine cover removed to show me exactly where the problem was located & how it would be corrected. After examining the rest of the Audi, he rendered an opinion that the Audi was not damaged in any flood or water damage, but was the result of a well documented & litigated manufactured part defect. This wordy saga was necessary to show that in all probability Nick & Revive never performed any sort of inspection or diagnosisics on the Audi throughout the entirety of the 5 months they held it hostage. That Nick & Revive blatantly lied, deceived, cajoled & misrepresented the status of the car in order to intentionally perpetrate a fraud someone who is a senior citizen! When I refused to submit to Nick & Revive extreme pressure to relinquish the Audi to him as a financial nightmare, he immediately retaliated by calling the Troy Police Department to report the Audi was abandoned on his property to demand that they immediately tow it to their impound lot. The only conclusion that can be made is that Nick & hie Revive Auto Repair use deceptive business practices against their hapless customers, that Nick & Revive intentionally distorts, misrepresents, inflates & conceals the true status of customers' vehicles to unlawfully extort & defraud their customers & that Nick & Revive will use unethical, unscrupulous & immoral tactics to cheat their customers. If you analyze the reviews appearing on Yelp it is curious to see how Nick & Revive scam & rip-off their customers who leave a 1 star review, or a few left glowing 5 star reviews. There is an interesting void of anything in between the 2 extremes! And it should be pointed out that it is relatively easy for an unscrupulous scammer & con man like Nick & his Revive alter ego to falsify some positive reviews in a feeble attempt to counter the real disastrous reviews left by the customers that he & Revive scammed! It will be interesting to do the forensic analysis on the few positive reviews to determine just who & why they took the effort to concoct lies for Nick & his corrupt Revive Auto Repair sham company!!! I went to this shop twice, once in 2014is, and once in 2019. I needed and oil change and an AC recharge. Walking in the front door, immediately met with attitude from the taller Arabic guy. I ask him about the oil that would be used attitude!!! I asked about how the recharge will help my AC and how fast attitude!!! I really don't mind waiting on oil changes, but after about two and half hours, I had to ask what was taking so long. Wonder what happened? GOT ATTITUDE?!! I went in for an oil change and brought my dog with me. My dog is sick, but I cleaned up after him the best I could. When I went to pay for my service, the employees accused me of lying about cleaning up, cursed at me, and wouldn't give me my keys until I went out and cleaned up again. Then the owner lectured me like a child. It was humiliating. I have since posted a review to their Facebook and the staff has continued to harass me in the comments for lying. This is the first and last time I will use this mechanic and I will be telling everyone I know not to go there either. Truly horrible service. The oil change was fine. I had my Malibu checked by Nick (the owner) for "check engine light on." After the ODB scanning, Nick said that I needed a new timing chain and told me the cost was $1600. That's steep. Nick didn't show me the error code and I was skeptical about how one can tell that the timing chain was loose although he said that the timing was over the event. I then went to O'rielly auto parts and the staff did a free ODB scanning and told me the Camshaft Position Actuators were bad and the cost was $100 for both actuators, with lifetime warranty. After replacing them, the check engine light was off. So, Nick was either dishonest or not knowing cars very well. read more

Since moving here from California, I have definitely had a difficult time finding a reliable and affordable mechanic. Since I am Vietnamese, I even tried to reach out for a mechanic who speaks in my native tongue only to be quoted with exorbitant prices even higher than the dealerships! Called around to dozens of places who want to charge me 25 dollars for an oil change just for labor alone with me providing my own oil and filter. With this said, I think Nick (who is the owner and mechanic I think) is a really stand up guy who quotes you up front (at least with oil changes anyway). It is really hard to find a mechanic who isn't trying to rip you off. He does an oil change with a synthetic blend for 23.99 which is an awesome price. I have also seen this special numerous times on groupon for 17.99. In my case, I bring in my own oil and filter and he does it for 10.00 dollars flat just for labor. Although this is the normal price in California, I think that indeed is an impossible price to find in metro Detroit. If anyone can prove me otherwise please send me a PM! The only negative about this place is it is always packed and difficult to schedule an appointment because this guy is so darn busy. I guess it's because he's honest and that's a rare trait seen in mechanics nowadays. So if you have a lot of work to be done, I do not recommend trying to "walk in" cause that most likely won't work out very well, so call ahead for an appointment. Good luck! read more

Terrible service. Told me my 20 year old car required synthetic oil and argued with me about it when I said it never had before. They refused to do a regular oil change. Talked me into a $59 synthetic change but when I got home and checked my manual I discovered that I indeed could use either. I called them when I got home to tell them they were mistaken and the guy insisted he was right and used foul language with me (F word). Scammed me out of an extra $42 which hurts because I am a senior on a fixed low income. I will never take my car there again and I suggest you not either. Liars and cheats. read more

I gave Revive Auto Repair a try for the first time yesterday and had a great experience, and will most certainly return the next time I need my car serviced. I scheduled an appointment for four new tires, a battery terminal cleaning, and to have a heating problem corrected. I dropped the car off with the owner, Nick, at 8am. He walked me through some tire options, told me I most likely needed an alignment, and what they'd do related to the battery and heating problem. I headed off to work and a couple hours later I received a call from Nick and he explained that my front brake pads and rotors were on their last legs and offered a special price to get them replaced. We discussed the price (very reasonable considering the materials and all the work being performed) and I gave him the OK to proceed. My car was ready around 2 or 3pm, and I picked it up around 4pm. I could not believe how well the car was driving. My vehicle is a 2008 Nissan Xterra, but it was driving like it was brand new again. Before paying and driving off, I actually had a very nice conversation with Nick. It became very clear that he's running a customer satisfaction focused business first, and an auto shop second. That is in 9 days, but I was looking to get this 10 minute service completed in the next day or two. I had the transmission replaced on one visit and on another I had the rear main seal replaced, differentials flushed, and also the transfer case flushed. The mechanics here are extremely knowledgeable, up front, and honest. The last visit I had, they were able to get me in and out in a timely manner and went above and beyond to ensure I could get my daily driver back on the road. One day while driving our old station wagon to move some belongings, the emergency brake would not release. It was Saturday morning and it was an emergency. Driving down Maple, I saw that Revive was open so we pulled in and expected the worst. We were happily surprised when the problem was fixed within five minutes. My car needed a lot of suspension work and the dealership quoted me $3,000. After researching other mechanics (online), I contacted Nick and he quoted a price that was a bit less than what the dealership wanted...so I took it in. He had the car for about four days. When I got it back the wheels hissed, when I turned, for about two days and the interior of my car was dirty with oil. I didn't mind cleaning the car because of the great price...and like I mentioned, the hissing disappeared. Then after about three weeks, I kept hearing a clunking sound from the back when I made left turns as well as a high pitched moaning sound from under the hood. I took the car back. Nick inspected the car and said that everything looked good. He suspected that the clunking sound was coming from the spare tire mount. As for the high pitched moaning noise...it was the alternator! :-( The reason the I am giving this business four stars is because I think that Nick is actually a reasonable and honest mechanic. The missing star is for the oil that I had to clean up after spending almost 2K. If I could...I would have given him another .5 star because he thought that I asked him to change my oil but he didn't charge me when I brought it to his attention. Overall, I think that this is a good place to bring your car. Finding a reputable mechanic these days is difficult and I think that I found one. Dishonest. And incompetent. Had my car towed in with what was probably a leak in the clutch hydraulics. They told me I needed a new clutch. Maybe, although I hadn't previously had any clutch problems. Then they said I also needed a new transmission. Maybe, although I hadn't previously had any transmission problems. They said they found a really good deal on a salvage transmission--$900. Two weeks and $2600 later I had my car back, but it didn't feel right. They bled the system again and assured me it was fine. So I went on my long-planned vacation trip. Got to Montana and the car broke down. Shop there said "you need a new transmission." Turns out Revive didn't actually replace the transmission--they just contracted with a transmission shop to replace the transmission housing, and when they put the old transmission parts back inside, they screwed it up. There were needle bearings loose inside the housing. The Montana shop also quoted $900 for a transmission--but that was actually a transmission, and they actually installed it correctly. Of course, I was out the $2600, plus another $1900 in Montana, plus hotel, rental car, and loss of my vacation. read more

I purchased the Synthetic Blend Oil Change , Tire Rotation and Vehicle Inspection on line. The guy who checked me in charged me additional for an oil filter, disposal fees and taxes on top of what I paid on the website. Once the oil was changed he didn't want to rotate the tires. I insisted that they be rotated. He had oil changer pull my car to another building to do the tires rotation. They did not ask for the key for the wheel locks. When I got my car back once the tires were rotated the driver's seat was broken and the car made a strange loud humming sound when I left. I wasn't sure what the sound was. After a few days of driving with the humming noise, I had the vehicle inspected at another facility. Two of the wheel bearing hubs on my car were damaged by the way the tires were taken off for the rotation. The cost to repair the damage on the wheel bearings was $775.00. I haven't had the seat repaired as of yet. While the oil changer was destroying my vehicle, the guy up at the desk was checking other customers in. I could hear him saying that owner's manuals and engineers were all full of s..it, since everyone no matter what type of car they drive should use premium gasoline for better gasoline mileage. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND STAYING FAR AWAY FROM REVIVE AUTO REPAIR. read more
