Absolutely would use them again. We got way more than expected with little niches in our showers/bath, barn-shower doors rather than standard sliding frames, and dim lighting. Eric came up with creative ways to rework plumbing to give us extra space. I sent a few Pinterest photos to Angela, who then gave us a few amazing design options. We didn't have to spend anytime researching materials or color schemes. Omar and their installation team was courteous, clean, and talented. READ or your remodel/rebuild could start falling apart like mine: In May of 2011 I hired Retro Pro to do a bathroom remodel and build a small bathroom. It all looked beautiful. BUT the workmanship and skimping on materials was later found to be subpar. I had to replace the entire shower that they built in December of 2014 because the curb going into the shower was level and alot of water ended up outside shower floor. The shower pan also was leaking as well as I had water damage on the base boards in the 2 closets next to the shower. That was only 3 yrs later. Eric the owner of Retro Pro gave me a ton of problems in addressing the issue, he was no help at all and talked to me like I was stupid. He sent guys out to appease me, but it didn't. It only made me madder and they offered no solution and told me the curb should be level. Upon much research I had found out from the City of Mesa they had not drawn permits. NO WONDER EVERYTHING WAS FALLING APART it would never have passed inspection. The City of Mesa made them pay for the permits, etc... I had to have the shower completely redone so they came out and inspected it. The new contractor was amazed that Retro Pro only put down Redguard for the shower pan and no thick plastic liner. It cost me an additional $2k to have that done. That was only 3 yrs after the initial remodel/rebuild was done. Now here it is January 2019 and I shouldn't be surprised! Part of my corner shower shelf tile is falling off the wall. In the pictures you can see that they only did a couple dabs of whatever it is that is used to hold the tiles together. Again showing that they skimped on materials. NOW WAITING FOR TILES TO FALL OFF WALL! Oh, by the way. When the City of Mesa got involved regarding the permits. that is the only time Eric offered to repair the curb, but not the shower. I told him I wouldn't trust him with anything. HE DOESN'T STAND BY HIS WORK because it only has a 2 yr warranty. And my major shower issues was at 3 yrs! READ THIS or make the mistake of choosing someone else. Retro Pro is fantastic! We interviewed 4 companies up front for a major kitchen renovation - walls & doors removed & added, plus full counter/ cabinet/ floor/ backsplash. Also included new lighting & A/C ducts & moving appliances. Taking 1979 fluorescent lighting & tile counters into 2019. Eric (owner) & Angela (design) got the business because they were honest and timely - the only proposal to come in complete and on time. RetroPro was not the most or least expensive, but definitely the most responsive. The process was very smooth - we made decisions early to get materials on order, and started the work 3 weeks later with a 7 week estimate for completion. They explained every step, and really listened to what we wanted and paid good attention to our style & budget & everything. Eric's proposal for moving things around and making the overzsize pantry into a mud room was very clever. The job started on time, Omar was great with letting us know status, and respecting our home while they worked - kept things as clean as possible. There were a few minor tweaks during the tear down and build up, and the team always explained our options and resolved everything beautifully. Having Angela assist with design decisions on the fly was particularly helpful! We couldn't be happier with the results. On time and no surprises. Hopefully I can post pics with this review. In early January of 2023 my wife and I completed a long over-do update and upgrade project on our older, small space (1700 sq ft) home. Our objectives were to de-clutter and modernize the home. The kitchen, family room, guest bath, master bath each were extensively remodeled. The adjoining foyer/hallway refreshed. Each bath and the kitchen/family room were re-modeled in series since we continued to live in the home during the destruction, construction phases. To be clear, while the overall project took approximately a year, the destruction-construction phase occurred in the last 3 1/2 months (elapsed time, the construction team has a 5 day workweek). My wife and I had a steep learning curve at the start. First to define what we wish to accomplish and to develop a concept, next to identify, schedule and vet potential contractors, and finally to select our contractor and finalize with the contractor the details of materials, cabinetry and vanities, shower doors, commodes and fixtures, lighting, and accessories such that a contract could be written, the materials placed on order and then the long wait for the materials to arrive. Cabinetry was the long lead item (more than 4 mo.). We selected Retro Pro Kitchen and Bath of Chandler, AZ and are very pleased we did. The results were outstanding! Eric Johansson, the owner, was impressive from his very first visit. Not only did he understand our objectives, but improved on the solutions that I thought I had in-hand. He visualized our space with a professional eye and created a design that works much better than my layout. He out-designed his competitors' renditions. Angela Foreman, Retro Pro's Designer, was also outstanding. Based on our concepts, she assembled cabinet styling, flooring, countertops, and accessories for our review and acceptance. Each met our needs and added much luxury without garishness. After construction she also guided us on decorative accents and shopper guidance which was much appreciated. The craftsmen that Eric assigned to our project was Max, as Project Manager and Taylor, his assistant and apprentice. Max has strong skills in all aspects of home re-model and construction. Whether it is drywall, plumbing, electrical, hanging cabinets, creating crown molding (who knew a crown molding had to be created and not pulled from a box!), texturing and painting. He also can work expertly with tile or flooring and will pitch-in as necessary. Taylor has many, not all, of the skills that Max has mastered but not to Max's level. He is a great assistant and keeps the project moving in accordance with Max's daily plan. All the material and tools are in the right place at the right time for efficient performance. While these attributes are necessary for the overall results both individuals also bring a love for what they are doing. Both demand perfection from themselves. They were always striving for it and I was pleased that they were. Both men exhibited high moral character of which I attest having lived with them for 3 1/2 months. They were always courteous and respectful. They were prompt each morning, hard at work throughout the day, and cleaned up before they left. A separate excellent team of Edwin with his son Douglas were the tile and flooring experts. I felt that Edwin was a magician with the tiles. Both baths, the kitchen backsplash, and the flooring are above and beyond our expectation. I must also mention Omar and Oscar. These were highly skilled craftsman who were brought in separately to assist. Oscar when the kitchen soffit was removed and the a/c ductwork and electricals were re-worked. Then Omar's assistance was required to keep on schedule when I added the hallway/foyer to the project. My wife and I were delighted with the results as they unfolded and we remain delighted to this day. As I stated to Eric and Angela during the walk-through inspection at the end of the project: "Retro Pro brought big house luxury to our small space home". She informed me that they won't install anything you don't buy directly from them- due to, ahem, "liability reasons"-even though I bought a light fixture and a vanity from Home Depot. This is "code" for: "we are so greedy that we want to make money off of (upcharge) every single thing we can sell you in addition to the other materials and labor we will charge for and make money off of." Chose this company based on their spiel and meeting with CEO. Hired to do a kitchen remodel. Came to the house and made a survey and sketched out the changes we wanted made. Knew we would have to add a beam to support the removed wall as another contractor had mentioned also. Visited the show room and picked the cabinets we wanted. Specifically told him we did not want contractor grade cabinets. Chose a medium priced cabinet with a mocha stain - Solid wood. Eric then called back 10 days later and said he had showed us the wrong cabinets. Said the substitute was similar and could be stained the same color. We were told the company only worked on one job at a time and they could start ours in 3 weeks. Also asked if they subbed out work and I was told 'No' - all workers were their employees. Now the fun began - work was haphazard, the truck was always out front, but work was not always being done. Job foreman always on the phone and found out they had start at least one other job before ours was done. When asked if the permits had been pulled, I was told they wouldn't need to be. After demo had begun, was informed another beam would be needed. Remember, they had surveyed the structure already. Found out the painters, tile men, and wall texturers were subs. The wall had to be done 3 times because they were so badly done. Visited the site at 9 pm one might and found the second texturer doing the job with a single light bulb on the floor. In daylight the job was horrendous as the foreman agreed. Then when they began installing the cabinets, I complained that they were not what had been chosen they were K Mart level. Even had the cabinet company rep visit beause I was raising hell and and she agreed they were the low end of the line. The reason the stain was so poor - they were adhesive faced on composite board. The CEO and his NO 1 man kept saying they were 'wood' cabinets. After 3 months I just wanted them out - they sent young HS kids to clean up and finish work - I ran them off. Never did spread the insulation back and 4 weeks later brought the base of one cabinet that was still not the right size. Needless to say i had to cut it and install it myself. I would be very wary of this company. My cabinet faces are delaminating, the base of the cabinet under the sink is now swollen - due to a cheap disposal that is now leaking. Having been a business owner myself, I would never have said this job was finished to the customer's satisfaction. Regardless what the intro says, I am in Mesa, Arizona read more

We needed to have two of our bathrooms remodeled; our master bathroom and family/guest bathroom. We had three companies come to our home to give us estimates and ideas. Each of the first two sent one person for the estimate. I was disappointed after meeting with them. Basically, all I received was an estimate price of what it would cost to complete and absolutely no design concepts or architectural ideas. I then contacted Retro-Pro and made an appointment with Eric and Angela. They arrived on time and spent approximately one hour going over the project. Eric offered architectural/building ideas while Angela gave design details. I was impressed. They offered information that I had not previously considered or knew. They explained that all the workers that would be at our home are their employees and that nothing is subcontracted. They gave me an exact price on what our project would cost and we made another appointment to meet at their design studio to go over tile and fixture options. They began work on November 14th and the final walk through was on December 22nd, 2016. They assigned a Project Manager, Omar, and he was in contact with us daily as to the progress of the project. He answered all our questions during the construction and addressed any issues or concerns that we had. The construction crews respected our home by using plenty of plastic sheeting and heavy duty paper to protect our belongings and our floors. Angela and Steve, Project Supervisor, would stop by every few days to monitor how the project was progressing. We now have two beautiful bathrooms that we will enjoy for years to come. Angela's design talents shine every time we enter one of our bathrooms. We are so grateful that the project was handled start-to-finish with such professionalism and with the utmost respect for our home. The craftsmanship is second to none. I wanted to redo a shower to make it tile and glass and redo another bathroom to include new cabinets, tile, and a glass shower. Retro Pro gave me a competitive quote (priced about the same as the others), but I chose them because they approached the project like a partnership. During the initial meeting, Steve offered some helpful suggestions to address a few things I said I didn't like about the existing bathrooms. He did it in a nice and open way so that it was easy to say yeah or nah. And he focused on what would make me the happiest as opposed to just getting the job done. When it came to timing, they worked around my schedule, including the holidays, guest visits, etc. while giving me the feeling that what I wanted mattered more than what would be the easiest for them. When it came to doing the work, they protected my home like a cocoon. My carpet was protected by layers of heavy plastic wrap that held up very well for the duration. My wood floors were kept safe by a protective layer. And they cleaned up every night before leaving. They did a great job of bringing in well-managed teams of workers to keep the project moving along quickly. And they kept us informed about the timing along the way so there weren't any surprises. My husband was impressed by the ventilated plastic wall they taped to our home to keep dust and fumes in their working space and out of our living area. It looked pretty awesome and it did the job well. They carefully protected our home the whole time and it showed how they are customer-centered; they care a lot about how they could make the project easier and drama free for us. As the work began, because they were so collaborative and insightful, I mentioned a few other things about other parts of my home that drove me a little bit crazy. For example, my other cabinets would slam shut and another cabinet had broken hardware. So they upgraded the hardware on my existing cabinets for a reasonable price. And boy, what an improvement. The cabinets fully close everywhere (none of that 'almost closed' look anywhere). And they open and shut simply and quietly. I love how much easier it is to use my old cabinets now. They didn't make any comments about "do I want to replace these old cabinets?" They just heard my comment about what bothered me about the old cabinets and they said, "would you like it if we did x to fix it?" and I was all ears since they were all ears and they'd won me over as great helpers with excellent work so they'd earned my trust and respect. They also noticed that my garbage bin space was underutilized so they asked me if I'd like them to make it bigger by installing different hardware. Again, they made it easy for me to consider, with no pressure whatsoever. I gave it some thought then approved their proposal. And now I have about 1.5 times the bin space fit into the same cabinet. It looks awesome and glides out perfectly. Now I don't need to take out the garbage as often and it looks like the bins were custom made for the cabinet. They noticed project work/materials details that should be improved before considering it done, even stuff that I had no idea wasn't quite right, and they made sure it was finished to the high standards that they hold. I didn't need to say a thing; they showed me the tiniest details they'd noticed that they could address and they'd get it done. Very nice. Also, I felt that a couple of tiles weren't exactly what I wanted. The tiles are natural stone so some variation in the look of each tile is normal. Unfortunately, I didn't notice that I didn't like two of the tiles until after they were fully installed. I was kicking myself for not giving it a better look before the grout was put in. But they bent over backwards, sideways and forwards in the kindest of ways to redo the work however many times it took to make sure every single tile makes me smile every time I go into the room. Again, their only goal was to make me happy no matter what it took. I can't say enough about how amazing they were to work with. Nestor, Steve, Eric, Angela...they are all excellent at what they do and their customer service throughout the project was exemplary. I am so glad I chose them to do the work.. And I'm delighted with the whole thing from start to finish. The next time I want some work done, even if I don't quite know what the solution would be, I know I can call them and they'll come back with something that'll work better than I'd have thought possible with minimal disruption, strong attention to detail, excellent problem solving skills, great ideas on how the "look" can come together, a customer service orientation, and with "what'll make me happy" as their sole focus. Project: Remodel 90s kitchen Eric and Angela were very helpful with the design of our kitchen. They are very easy to work with, have a lot of good ideas, and have good pictures of remodels they have completed. This helped with explaining their ideas. They listen to your ideas and try to work them into the space. The staff showed up at 8:30 am every weekday with only a few exceptions. We were notified of those exceptions at least a day ahead. They were very helpful as we were living in the house while the construction was in process. They tried to keep the place livable. They also closed off rooms where they were working with plastic sheeting so as to keep the construction dust down. They cleaned up every evening before leaving. The trades showed up when scheduled. We did not have many week days where work was not in process. The time estimate was six weeks, and the actual was five weeks. We love our new kitchen and it is very easy to work there. We were so impressed with this project, we are having them back to remodel the shower area in the master bathroom. BEWARE-THE OWNER DOES NOT OBTAIN PERMITS REQUIRED BY THE CITY TO DO PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL WORK. HE ALSO DOES NOT USE LICENSED ELECTRICIANS OR LICENSED PLUMBERS. Needless to say our remodel was a painful experience. It lasted months longer than it should have...due to a worker dropping a drill on the brand new vanity marble top and the owner wanting me to be ok with them filling the whole. No way..we paid for a new vanity we wanted a new vanity..not a new fixed vanity. Sadly we weren't able to get a new vanity because the 3 times they tried to replace it..each vanity showed up damaged..so we had to settle with a fixed marble top that you can still notice a hole in. The BIGGEST issue was that the workers hooked up our above stove microwave into the lighting circuit. Had the owner gotten a permit and used a licensed electrician...this giant mistake would not have happened. Each time we would use the microwave...the power would go out. This happened because they were supposed to add a new circuit strictly for the microwave...since it takes a lot of power. Sadly we had to file a complaint with the registrar of contractors in order to make sure the owner got the permit AND a licensed electrician to do the job. MAKE SURE YOU MAKE THE OWNER GET PERMITS! In an email from the owner he said he doesn't get permits because it's a waste of time and money! WELL IT'S ALSO ILLEGAL. Also..we got brand new kitchen cabinets that took months to correct. From doors being different sizes..to cracks and dents. Owner wanted to brush it off saying they are up to standard. It's up to standard to get brand new cabinets with dents and cracks? We did end up getting a discount for the cabinets because we finally just settled with some of the flaws. Also...the workers were careless as they did not cover our brand new granite counter top before setting all of their tools and supplies on it. We did hear that the owner demoted the worker that was on our job because of the electrical problem. However...I put full onus on the OWNER as he did not have a licensed professional do the job like a LICENSED contractor is supposed to do. There were a myriad of problems...part of my piano getting broken when they moved it...my couch getting scuffed up and having a person come out and airbrush my BRAND NEW couch. It was a horrible experience. We still have a little over a year left of our guarantee to fix things should other problems occur. Praying there won't be something wrong with the plumbing since they did not use licensed plumbers either. Also...I have MS and this experience sure flared it up! Needless to say...we did not get a wonderful gift basket like Angela promised us after the project was complete. We used Retro Pro for a guest bath remodel in 2013 and were so pleased that we used them again for the master bath and, as before, we were really satisfied with the results and the whole process. Eric and Angela met with us initially at our home and then again for a design consultation at their showroom. Angela was very helpful both in the design process and during the construction. The work encompassed a total tear out of the existing bathroom, removal of a sunken tub, and a dividing wall. Two narrow windows were replaced with a single window involving the reworking of the stucco exterior. A new bathtub, tile surround, tile floor, new lighting and cabinets were installed. Nestor, our project manager, and the crew were professional, competent, very accommodating and polite. Eddie did a great job with the tile work as he had done for the guest bath. It is nice to see a lot of the faces that were with the company four years ago. Communication was excellent and the project was finished on schedule. Our home was built in 1986 and last winter we decided to update the master bathroom. Retro Pro was the only company we had bid our project because we were so impressed with their professionalism, knowledge, friendliness and patience in assisting us as we decided what we wanted. We ended up completely gutting the bathroom and moving the location of the shower, soaker tub and even a window. The execution of the work could not have gone any better! Various issues came up, as they often do during a remodel, and our project manager thoroughly explained our options, sometimes over the phone or with photos e-mailed because a family emergency took us out of the area at the very beginning of the job. My wife and I just finished a complete (rip and replace) remodel of our master bathroom. Retro Pro and the people from Retro Pro lived up to our expectations. We are not easy to please. We have a home built in 1992, and the master bath was very badly outdated. We took our time in meeting with them, evaluating a few other contractors and then deciding on Retro Pro. One of the strong selling points for me was that with the exception of the granite countertop fabrication, all of the work was done by Retro Pro employees - no sub-contractors. This is a major plus. Our project manager was Omar, and quite simply put, Omar is amazing, and his assistant Max was fantastic as well. Omar knows all of the trades and is extremely detail-oriented. The entire job was essentially completed in 4 weeks. On day one, all of the demolition work was completed - one day! This included tile removal, shower and tub removal, light fixture removal, toilet removal, mirror removal - the demo work was essentially done in one day. They kept dust to a minimum by having plastic sheeting covering everything outside the master bath, and actually had a zippered plastic entry to the bathroom. Through the job I never had any trouble getting in touch with the owners or the construction manager. They called each morning to let us know what time they would be coming that day. We also had Retro Pro install some new LED lighting in our kitchen and living room ceilings. Fantastic result! They assist with design and decorating ideas, and the whole job went really well.
