So, I decided to try laser tattoo removal. While randomly browsing on Groupon, I came across a deal from Freedom Laser Hair & Tattoo Removal. The reviews, both on Groupon and online, were really positive, so I went ahead and bought the deal for $45 (small area). I had to pay an extra $10 groupon booking fee, but the price itself was so affordable I didn't mind. At my appointment, the technician Emily mentioned I could purchase directly from her in the future, and she'd still honor the Groupon price, which was super kind of her. If you're interested, check if the deal is still available online. The Groupon covers small, medium, and large tattoo removal areas. For my next session, I'll be booking directly through her. This was my first experience with any type of tattoo removal, and I'll admit I was a bit nervous. I'd heard it can be more painful than getting a tattoo. Emily doesn't use numbing cream, but she has a cold air machine that blows over the area while the laser works. It helped a lot, less of a shock than I expected. Since the area was small, I was in and out in about 15 minutes. In terms of pain, I'd say it felt pretty similar to getting the original tattoo. If you've had your brows tattoo and touched up, you know what I mean. (The pain isn't the best) Even after just one session, I noticed a big difference. The pigment lifted way more than I thought it would. I'll probably need one more session since I've had multiple tattoo applications over the years, but I'm already really happy with the results. Huge thank you to Emily--she was amazing! Her online system is super efficient. It sends reminders, outlines policies and procedures, and includes everything you need to know before, during, and after your appointment. She's professional, thorough, and kind. I was very hesitant about the thought of getting laser tattoo removal on my eyelids because I've seen gross blister pictures on Google--but on other parts of the body. Rest assured, cosmetic tattoos rarely blister. My first experience with laser tattoo removal was at another business because I saw it on Groupon, although my eyeliner didn't apply to the special. I had only the ends removed so I received a discount anyway. The part-time employees there were super friendly & the pain was as described (like a flick of a rubber band), but I found the InkOff MD business card I got from Beauty Bliss by Mary (who gave my madre the best eyebrows!) which led me to cancel my follow-up appointment with the other business to see Dr. Chung. At Dr. Chung's medical practice, you can guarantee that you get your tattoo removed by a highly trained, licensed physician with the best in laser removal technology. Plus, you don't get a frozen glove of ice to "numb" the procedural area. I've a high pain tolerance, but I prefer the numbing injection that Dr. Chung provided. Due to the nature of my procedure being so close to my eyes, I appreciated the precautions Dr. Chung took to make safety a priority including giving me numbing eyedrops & putting contact-like shields in my eyes for extra protection. Overall, I felt more comfortable here than at the other place. Two sessions later, my eyeliner is gone (combination of cosmetic & tattoo ink)! There's still some pigment left, but I'm satisfied with the results. I paid per treatment so the cost of removal was affordable. Keep in mind that results vary per patient. Apparently, mine was a special case where it only took two sessions. It may be more cost beneficial to opt for the 4-session package which includes 6 months free if more sessions are needed in that time period. So who said tattoos are forever? I felt no pain, aside from the needle injection of tumescent which didn't last long at all. There is a lot of what feels like pushing and tugging but I was more concerned with Dr. M's back being sore from being hunched over (he's so tall!). There remains beneath-the-surface healing but the worst part is long in the past and was short-lived. I went home with my face bandaged like a mummy (kidding), and was able to open my mouth just enough to slurp some soup (not kidding). Whatever your instructions are from your surgeon, follow them! Tony is very easy to talk to and makes me feel comfortable. My visits are in, zap and out. Easy peasy! Tony is trustworthy and is very professional. I live in town and the travel to Haleiwa for my appointments are worth it. I usually set my appointments on the morning and stop by the famous bakery in Wailua before heading home. After wasting nearly two months of my time, asking me to wait almost another month is simply unreasonable. To make matters worse, I requested a full refund, and I have received no response whatsoever.
