Finding the right plastic surgeon to meet your specific needs and hopefully get you to your goal, is an incredibly transformative and personal journey. Firstly, do your homework. Make sure your surgeon is board-certified! Read about your procedure, be realistic with your expectations, look at before and after photos, see if you can find others that have gone through it, a plus if they used your surgeon, ask questions, lots of them! Seek other opinions, if necessary but when you've found the right one, you'll know. I hadn't even finished the consult and I knew Dr. Murariu was my guy for the job. I made a joke about being ready for the procedure that day but alas, as wonderful doctors are on a severe shortage, he was booked! Dr. M validated my feelings and concerns, answering every.single.one of my questions with compassion, humility and empathy. Our consultation alone was very authentic and patient centered which established trust, and showed his passion and genuine care for my wellbeing. Everyone I encountered at Athena Clinic fulfilled their respective roles as if the position was deliberately nurtured and tailored to them. Every person there, is so crucial to the shape, success and effectiveness of the company. From the jump, Gen was warm and inviting. She influenced my initial impression being the perfect bridge between patient and organization. Ikuko is so sweet and caring, we also do a great deal of laughing when we see each other! She is knowledgeable while still having the capacity to comfort her patients and ensure our needs are met. Xia is clear, assertive, and has an eye for perfection! I loved having her keen recognition of quality during the procedure. Kristy is compassionate and friendly. She listens, understands, and interjects well-timed communication with perfect balance. I had chin and neck liposuction, fat transfer to chin as well as Thermage to my face and neck. This has been a problem area and a real sore spot for my ego since I was a teen. The procedure itself was just as I expected. I was awake the whole time, chatting and filling the room with lots of laughter. We even experienced a bit of an actual earthquake, too! I felt no pain, aside from the needle injection of tumescent which didn't last long at all. There is a lot of what feels like pushing and tugging but I was more concerned with Dr. M's back being sore from being hunched over (he's so tall!). There remains beneath-the-surface healing but the worst part is long in the past and was short-lived. I went home with my face bandaged like a mummy (kidding), and was able to open my mouth just enough to slurp some soup (not kidding). Whatever your instructions are from your surgeon, follow them! They're there for a reason, sometimes beyond our know. I wish I could quantify my aliveness in a container and compare the impact this procedure had on my life. It was such a huge step forward and I am beyond thankful to all at Athena Clinic but especially to the talented Dr. Murariu. I was shocked that they recommended a neck lift and lower facelift. I also realized I'd hated being photographed for about five years. He did my breast augmentation with silicone implants, as well as liposuction to the bra bulge (had a special and it was included in the augmentation price, but imo totally worth getting it even if you have to pay!). I'm over 9 months out and the results are simply amazing! I felt very comfortable with Dr Murariu and his staff from the initial consult. The clinic is literally inside Kapiolani Hospital so it made me feel safe having the procedure there (I saw two other surgeons who also operate in their clinics, but they were in non hospital locations). The price is not cheap, but in line with the other two estimates so I guess average for Hawaii. Overall the care and the results are way above average! read more

I had a scar tissue that caused my 12 year old breast implants to look and feel hard- plus they had taken on an ugly shape from the excess scar tissue. I had the scar tissue removed from my breast implants. The results were amazing!!! My breasts look better (and more natural!) than they did when I first got them augmented. People are actually shocked when I tell them I have breast implants- even in a bikini! Dr. Petersen did a wonderful job on my lips! I had 1 ml of juvaderm in my lips for $600. Swelling went down after two weeks. People don't even notice but see that I have nice lips! I wanted the top lip to be more filled. I showed him what I wanted, and his technique is to go little by little (after each injection..he will have you look at it). He has you take the lead in where to place it. This type of method may not be for everyone but so glad he did because I really wanted my upper lip to look fuller and I also placed a bit in bottom. Whole process takes maybe 20-30 min. Juvaderm has lidocaine in it, and honestly I didn't feel pain getting them! read more

Dr Peterson and his staff were great! Efficient and great to work with. Basically, I had fat cells from my belly transplanted to under my eyes where I had lost my fat pads due to my age (62). Everyone was always telling me how tired I looked even when I felt great. Now they tell me I look great even when I am tired! Easy procedure with minimal pain and returned to work w some concealer and my surgical mask the next day. By ten days no further need for concealer at all! If you have an annoying double chin that won't go away, I highly recommend seeing Dr. Peterson for neck liposuction. It's fast, easy and very affordable. You get instant results that last. Don't be like me and waste your time and money on Kybella which takes a long time for swelling to go down and after a few weeks or months, your double chin is back. I've spent so much time and money on 5 Kybella treatments with no lasting results. I wish I knew of neck liposuction sooner... I am so happy and satisfied with my results that are immediate. I chose Dr. Peterson for my breast augmentation and couldn't be happier with the results and entire experience! I am transgender and never once felt uncomfortable at Athena Clinic. Every single person at the office was so warm, welcoming, and affirming. It really created a positive experience. Chelsey helped me through the first couple of visits, explaining the various options and process, sizing, answering any of my basic questions or concerns. She was so sweet and patient with me! I got to interact with Brigid on the phone and in person at the front desk a few times, she's so nice, too. And Jenn (the office manager) is just phenomenal and always so polite and helpful. I interacted with a bunch of new faces on surgery day, too, and they were all just as friendly and welcoming! Athena Clinic was just a great experience for me. And then there's Dr. Peterson. He's just as kind and nice, and I really appreciated his demeanor which to me came off as being relatively straight, to the point, and knowledgeable. I didn't feel like he was trying to sell me anything, nor did he push his thoughts and ideas on me heavily, either. He explained everything with thoroughness and comprehension, and was open to discussing anything I had questions or conflicting ideas about. Dr. P is definitely a competent surgeon for breast aug. The actual procedure was a breeze. I had a great anesthesia experience with Dr. Duca-Cruz, and absolutely no complications or issues post operatively to mention with any part of the surgery (I'm writing this review 2 months post-op). We went under the muscle via inframammary incision, and the scar is wonderfully placed and healing nicely (I started to use silicone strips around 6WPO and they are amazing). The implants were Natrelle Ispira Soft Touch (round, smooth silicone), I went with 470cc volume, and they have been dropping & fluffing over the last 2 months and just keep getting better! Trust the process and don't panic over initial frankenboob if you have it (so many girls have frankenboob, it's totally normal at first). My post-op appointments have always been a breeze, too, and I'm in and out within half an hour (then again, I didn't have any complications or major concerns to address, either). I paid $8,000, which included everything. I had some estimates from other surgeons that were 50% higher, as well as lower estimates, too, but Dr. Peterson was the best overall in terms of expertise, great results, a friendly and welcoming environment, helpfulness, and all at a price point that I was really happy with and found to be so incredibly reasonable. I wonder how the women in the advertisement for Thermage seems to have remarkable results from this procedure. I wonder if it because I am an African American the procedure did not improve my jowls. Dr Peterson suggested I was "watching paint dry" or should have elected for a "face lift" after he took my $1900 hard earned cash. I am so very disappointed and feel like I was ROBBED. I have even "aged" since the procedure almost 6 months ago. The Doctor said I should come back in 6 months. I plan to do just that.
