Bought a cow skull from here. It was infested with dermestid beetles. Called to ask their policy and they told me it wasn't their problem. I've sprayed this thing with hydrogen peroxide, roach spray, soaked in water, dried in the sun, hand cleaned, dish soap with a toothbrush. Larvae is STILL falling out. I can't. I don't even want this thing anymore. Disgusting. So rude not to hold yourself accountable for the quality of your vendors. read more

Love the store! Bought a cute metal rooster, but realized when I got home that the white price tag sticker was on top of the rooster's hat. I couldn't remove it with anything with chemicals because I feel like it would remove the color. I carefully removed with my fingernail and still ended up removing sone of the color. I would definitely purchase there again, but I would pay closer attention to where the price tag was located. Hopefully they will, too. read more

I love this place when visiting Scottsdale and my only wish is to get to their bigger space up at Cave Creek. I always find the clerks friendly and helpful. I love their metal works and purchased a beautiful piece for my daughter's patio. Walked in today, the girl in front was on her lab top. I had to ask several times for help. I know she heard me because there was no 1 in the store but me. When she came towards me seemed very annoyed for DISTURBING her. I than asked when purchasing my purchase if I can have a box. She didn't even look at me said the purchase comes w/out a box. The past couple years my boyfriend I had been going to Cabo San Lucas for vacation and I would always find such beautiful decor and home furnishings there but they were much too large to bring back home. This year we decided to stay in the states and visit Scottsdale, we had been to Scottsdale before. However, we never did make it to Old town. So this time we made it a point to visit. We buzzed through lots of the jewelry and trinket shops, but then immediately when we entered this store I got very excited! It reminded me as if we were back in Mexico! I was so elated I couldn't believe it.... As I walked through the doors I had a hard time focusing at first, but then I immediately spotted a couple old clay rustic pots I wanted, so I grabbed those right away. As I scanned the store I found this rustic green oblong dish to place on a table as decor. Immediately I snatched that up as well. Towards the back of the store was all this beautiful distressed Mexican furniture that I loved. Great quality, excellent craftsmanship, heavy duty and stylish. All prices throughout the store were very fair, and I thought appropriate. Even the furniture. If I had the option to ship some of those items back to my home in Minnesota, I would've been all over that. This shop was single staffed. The lady at the register was polite, and kept to herself. I spent about an hour in this tiny store just looking around. Great little shop in the middle of Old Town! Would definitely come back to visit here again. read more

If you like Western rustic furniture with pops of color and a Mexican flare then this place is for you. Lots of the furniture was decently priced. Many of the pieces weren't very refined but instead rough 'n' tough. Many metal and wood pieces as well. What was memorable to me was that I know cow skulls in the valley are a desert signature and are usually $50+ but here they are already fitted to be hung and are around $38, so I may be coming back for that. read more

Just wanted to update my review as the company reached out to me and profusely apologized. They had issues with the phone lines. They even offered to discount my next purchase. Unfortunately I have moved to California and will not be able to visit the store again but I appreciate their intent to resolve my dissatisfaction. ********* Well, from the outside it looks like a pretty cool store. My aunt and uncle ordered some figure/statue and asked if I could pick it up and pay for it. They live in California and were visiting AZ on vacation so I said no problem. I called ahead to see if they were open but no one answered, and no voicemail was set up. Seemed to be a cell phone. So I took my chances and just showed up during the posted business hours, but no one was there. No sign to indicate a change in hours or closed for the holiday. I called the number listed and no answer with no voicemail set up. Thought it was a one off. Called the next day, a few times, no answer. Had my aunt and uncle follow up with the number they had on the brochure they were given, no answer. As you can imagine, I don't have time to drive over there every day to check if they are open. The store has something for everyone, and the prices were extremely reasonable. Fernando was very helpful and friendly. My friends and I live in Phoenix and every time we go to Scottsdale, we make sure that we stop in at Retablos. We have purchased gifts for family members, friends and for ourselves and love everything they have. Also, we have gone to their larger store in Cave Creek and sometimes we have asked that some items be sent down to the Scottsdale location for us to pick up and they are so kind and helpful. Don't expect the store to open on time. Shop there for the good prices and selection but if you want friendly service go somewhere else. The young lady in the store is quite rude. I needed her help to get items from the celing, she got two down (I was purchasing 2) but didn't like one of them. This store has lots of cool stuff...but i do agree with another user who was less than happy with the service provided by the store staff. I initiated a purchase a ceramic item, and because i would be taking it home in my 'carry on' luggage i asked for a box to protect the item. The smug salesperson said there were no boxes available and made zero effort to make me a happy customer. All of the stuff in that store which arrives from mexico on a daily basis, no doubt packed in boxes, and the salesperson wouldnt lift a finger to locate a scrap of cardboard or box i could use to ensure this item made it home undamaged? Total crock of BS. I stood there and actually contemplated not buying the item. I did buy the item. By luck i did get it home in one piece, but if i had it to do over again, the next time id opt to NOT make the purchase. read more
