But Dr. Alan Lee and his staff made short work of the difficult procedure and I could not be more pleased with the result. The aspect of this visit that made it worth reviewing in a public forum is that I had several questions and worries about the treatment/procedure, and was able to engage Dr. Lee directly and privately on those, and he responded immediately, clearly, expansively, and kindly. This is what we should look for in a health care provider. Someone we can trust. I would think that anybody could count on EE and the professionals there for exceptional medical care and, atop that, actual care for you as a human being. My first root canal is doing very well and all the worries associated with it are gone.

When I showed the x-rays to another dentist, was told that a medium sized filler will do it, for a fraction of the cost. Also, BEWARE that they call "cavity" any stain on your teeth and you will see a huge list of cavities on the quote they give you. Again, the other dentist showed me in details on my x-rays what is cavity and what's not. I had 2 cavities and not 8 as they had told me here. Save money, time and your enamel and go somewhere else!

After two root canals through crowns, both teeth needed attention from a general practitioner, and Dr. Dee and her staff were fantastic. I was concerned I might have to replace the crowns, but Dr. Dee, after her exam, informed me all that I would need were permanent fillings, and she and her assistant, Ms. Sincere, went right to it. It was easy, painless and very quick....I was out in less than 45 minutes and all has been well since. Both Dr. Dee and Ms. Sincere were friendly, relatable, and very fun to be around. It made for a comfortable engagement. The way they engaged was professional and I never doubted their skill and knowledge. I should also mention Franco and Ashley, both of whom assisted me in the initial contact and arranging treatment. The treatment required coordination with my endodontist, and that went off without a hitch. The new patient forms were easy to access and complete and, having done those, the billing portion was also a breeze. A special nod to Franco, who ensured he made contact with me after several missed attempts. So friendly and kind. To top it off, the practice provides each new patient with a coffee mug filled with goodies and, later, a thank you card that, admittedly, was designed both to thank and promote the practice, but was still a nice touch.

I visited Reston Family Smiles after repeatedly receiving their new-patient flyers advertising a…read more$98 special that included an exam, X-rays, and cleaning. The exam and X-rays were fine. The receptionist and the gentleman who took my X-rays were friendly and professional. The problem started when it came to the cleaning. After I was already there, I was told that I supposedly needed a deep cleaning instead. They spent a significant amount of time explaining why I should get it, showing me pictures, and discussing information that was meant to convince me to pay for a much more expensive treatment, which I was told could cost around $1,400. I questioned why I was being asked to leave without receiving the cleaning that was advertised. Only then did the receptionist check with the hygienist. The hygienist eventually came in, but her attitude was extremely rude and unwelcoming. She clearly did not seem interested in performing the advertised cleaning. What I received was essentially a very brief polishing that lasted less than a minute. I did not receive what I understood to be a dental cleaning. That experience completely changed my opinion of the office. I have no problem with a dentist recommending additional treatment when it is genuinely necessary. What I do have a problem with is advertising a $98 new-patient cleaning, exam, and X-rays, getting the patient into the office, and then trying to replace the advertised cleaning with a much more expensive treatment. Based on my experience with this particular team, I would not return to Reston Family Smiles. I also would not feel comfortable trusting them with future dental or emergency care. The receptionist and X-ray technician were genuinely nice. Unfortunately, the experience with the hygienist and the way the advertised cleaning was handled completely outweighed the positive interactions.

Overview: I had a very positive experience. Their work was very well done and their staff was professional. Performance: The evaluation was pretty standard. Dr. Fein (pronounced Fine) used ice picks to see if I could feel them. I needed a root canal and this was really well done. Even my dentist asked about it since it was well done and also the hole made was smaller than what she normally sees. They injected numbing agents (they offered gas if I felt anxious) and they had tools that made it easier to keep my mouth from closing or reacting to the procedure. Since they were cleaning out a nerve, there was some pain, but he was able to warn me before I felt anything. Staff: The staff was friendly and professional. I showed up late, but they didn't see bothered or annoyed which I appreciate. During the procedure, Dr. Fein taught his assistant about the procedure which I appreciate. I listened in and learned a few things, but it prevented the whole procedure from being just drilling. Facility: There are only a few chairs, but I didn't wait very long considering I showed up a little late for my appointments. There is a water dispenser but not restroom in office. There is one down the hallway and the office is located in a commercial building. The office was clean and well maintained. The chair had a TV for viewing if you get bored.

My dentist had referred me to see an endodontist due to thinning roots. I left the country for work for 2 years and all of a sudden received a letter from a legal firm saying that I owed a few hundred dollars because I didn't pay. I find it funny (not really) that I didn't get any phone calls or emails from the office personnel letting me know that I owed money. Of course I would have been more than happy to pay, and not wait 2 years. On a good note, I haven't had any issues with the teeth that I got a root canal on. I can't remember who my doctor was, but they did well. I would give the doctor 5 stars... but, because of what the front office personnel did, I would give them 0, but, the minimum is 1. If you go there, watch out. They may try to do the same thing to you as they did me.

I had an appointment and entered the office to find nobody behind the desk. I stood there for approx. 10 minutes before someone came out to greet me (with no apology for the wait). I gave the front office rep my drivers license and insurance card and she gave me two forms to complete. One of the forms stated that payment was due in full at the time of the visit so I asked how does that work with insurance. She said I would only be responsible for my co-payment. I informed her that I verified my benefits prior to the visit and was told by my insurance company that everything is covered at 100% with no copayment or deductible. This woman still insisted I had a copayment then decided to call her billing manager who told her I had a copayment for the exam (not the root canal). She then tells me that my insurance only allows for one exam a year and I had an exam recently so I would have to pay for this one. I explained that the exam at a general dentist (annual exam with cleaning) is different than an exam at an endodontist for a root canal, but she didn't get it and insisted I'm only allowed one exam a year. So when I told her that I'm not paying for something that I'm not required to so I won't be getting it done here, she responds "so you're not going to get a root canal because of $__? To avoid any further conflict I responded "yes." Problem #1. The front desk should be staffed at all times. Hire more people if you need to.....you're practice makes enough money. Problem #2. If you don't know something, don't make it up. If there is confusion in what is covered and what isn't, call the insurance company to find out. Give the patient the benefit of the doubt and provide some Customer Service. Problem #3. Don't be rude/nasty! Her comment was not necessary and clearly she was just trying to be smart, when in all actuality she was completely the opposite. I called the insurance company AND my referring general dentist and verified that the exam AND root canal at the endodontist office is covered at 100% with no copay. So, save yourself the trouble and avoid this place! Unless you want to pay for something you're not supposed to.
