Each look out onto the ocean as it presses up against the shore. Calming sounds. Sunset is amazing here. You forget everything when you're dining here. Our waiter, Edzon (who was great), let us know that the portions were medium size. Due to that, we ordered more food. We started with the tuna tartar. Mouthwatering flavor. We couldn't stop eating it. For dinner my girlfriend ordered the octopus, but got octopi (2 whole octopus). I had the open faced shrimp (6 giant shrimp). We also had a zucchini salad and steamed vegetables. The octopus was also vso good that she almost ate both of them! It was my girlfriend's birthday and they were kind enough to sing happy birthday. This was a beautiful gem on the Tulum beach road. We had a great spot on the patio and sat there until a rain storm moved in. We had to move inside and it was very cute & chic inside. Food and drinks were great, the strawberry mojito delicious. Jorge and Dunio gave us great service and great food recommendations. So we stayed at this hotel and in this review I will only talk about the restaurant, if you go there you need to try the tortillas hand made, our hotel included the breakfast so we were lucky enough to try different dishes and all of them were delicious, for breakfast I will recommend to try the avocado toast, for lunch the fish tacos and for dinner the fish of the day, I do not eat octopus because i respect the animal so much and if you do eat octopus I have nothing agains you, actually my fiancé eaten and he told me that was the best he ever had, so I personally did not eat it, but he 100 % recommends it. Absolutely LOVED everything at the restaurant. The decor, the ambience, the service and the food were all impeccable. My husband and I shared the whole fried fish which came along with a salad. The place is located in the El Pez hotel, making it s perfect beachside spot for a date or just a casual dinner with friends . The hotel itself is a luxury hotel so expect nothing short of fresh chef made seafood here . We drover here as we were spending some time in Tulum area and the place helped us beat the heat and relax by the ocean with a perfect meal. I got the trip of dips and couple of spicy margaritas to start , the dips were great and were served with freshly made homemaker tortilla chips, however hummus and guacamole were not spectacular. I liked the dips and the presentation but not as awesome as I expected . The margarita was great, a little pricey but then it was happy hour when I ordered so definitely worth the Money! We ordered shrimp tacos and the chargrilled octopus for dinner . Shrimp tacos were way too Americanized and didn't feel ethnic or modern either, rather more of the common fare . So I kinda regretted ordering it. I feel like it doesn't need to be in the menu at this place as it kinda doesn't go with the vibe . The octopus though was brilliant ! Worth the dime, shareable for two . Surprisingly it came with sweet potato fries and mayo??!? Was this the best food I had in Tulum? No,...but that view. We went to El Pez for breakfast when we were in Tulum on our honeymoon. We had the chilaquiles and the fried quesadilla and some cappuccinos. The chilaquiles were very good (much better than La Zebra), and the quesadilla was delicious. Great cappuccino as well. No doubt Tulum just makes you believe in heaven but this eatery was like cherry on cake. It couldn't get any better than sitting at the outdoor seating of El Pez sipping a sea pearl and eating their fresh ceviche. The staff is very humble from the moment you walk in. But that's pretty common with all the places in this side of Tulum. But our server wasn't just humble, he was very energetic and helpful. Made great recommendations and each of the cocktail we ordered per his recommendation was 10 on 10. The Sea Pearl and the Never say Never were both very refreshing with the perfect balance of liquor and fresh juices. As mentioned earlier the ceviche was very delicious. You could taste the freshness in each bite. If you order the large it's enough for two people if that'll be your main course. If it's an appetizer it's enough for 3. Of course the best feature is the view. The restaurant faces two big rock formations. One is a little inwards the sea with birds nestled on it while the other is connected to land so you'll see people on it. The rocks with the sea birds and people along with fishermen and waves makes this part of the beach very energetic. Overall it's a great restaurant that you must try at least once you are in Tulum. read more

March 21, 2021: We stumble upon this place as our first stop to eat in Tulum and it was a very bad experience. Once we got seated, we ordered our drinks with waiter #1, took awhile and once we received our drinks from waiter #2, the order was wrong and we still accepted the wrong drink order because we waited for awhile. (The drink of course was not free). We then had to repeat our drink order and also ordered food. When we received our food, the order was also wrong. Waiter ask if we wanted the wrong order item, but told us that he is going to add that to the bill. We denied because we did not want to pay for something we did not order. Overhearing the conversation from waiter #1, that waiter #2 took over his table so we we thought to ourself if it was a sabotage? Either way, our order was wrong and the waiter was pushing us to keep that wrong order which was unprofessional. read more

Happily found this darling place while driving aimlessly looking for a restaurant on the beach in Tulum. It is a little hotel with a bar and restaurant that is right on the beach, open air. Caribbean, relaxed and quaint. Absolutely wonderful food. The tempura shrimp tacos were some of the best ever. Generous serving of 3 on the plate. Hubby had grilled shrimp which were HUGE and full of fresh flavor. Asked if they could make me a passion fruit margarita and they said sure, even tho it was not on the menu. We visited this restaurant based on a friend's recommendation, and were extremely disappointed. Expecting light and healthy seafood, we instead received a procession of cheap, salty bar food that made us slightly sick to our stomachs. Everything arrived overcooked (yet somehow cold), drowned in oil and piled with chips or soggy potatoes. My wife and mother-in-law have restricted diets and repeatedly asked out server if they could replace the chips/potatoes with anything more healthy - avocados or vegetables anyone? The answer was always no, and despite our requests, they wouldn't even serve the heavy cream sauces on the side - we had to scrape them all off ourselves. The staff also charged us for food we didn't order...of course it was the most expensive item on the menu. So, I tipped the waiter in cash and filed a dispute with my credit card company. My advice is, avoid this low-class, overpriced tourist place at all costs! Save your money and go get some real seafood at Nomade or La Corriente. read more

Hands down the best restaurant in Tulum. My wife and I made a huge mistake and dined at the neighboring Mina restaurant for NYE, where she contracted a brutal case of food poisoning. (On a related side note, if you are interested in spending the last day of your magical Tulum vacation violently projecting particles of beef rib through your nostrils, Mina is the spot for you) My wife was still unable to leave the hotel room for dinner the following day. I shared this story with the chef at El Pez, and he custom made an off-menu chicken soup for me to take to her. His service was above and beyond. The people here are amazing, the food and drinks are excellent, and the environment is perfect. You can't go wrong with El Pez. read more

Great view and that's about it...I ordered tacos (not on the dinner menu), and they charged me 250 pesos for essentially 1 taco, although they claimed it was 2 tacos because there was an extra tortilla (taco filling was only enough for 1 taco and wasn't even good!). When I got the check and mentioned this to the lady there , who appeared to be the manager, she responded , " I will let the chef know." As you can imagine, I didn't find that to be an adequate or helpful response...my recommendation would be to stay away and eat elsewhere read more

Six of us dined here on July 4 and the food was a very unpleasant experience. My generous 2 stars points to the fact that our server, who appeared to have a managerial role, did his best to mitigate a bad circumstance. He took an exceptionally bad zucchini salad off of our bill and genuinely wanted to do more to placate us. I saw him literally yelling at the cook staff when he returned that dish to them, so hopefully they were just having a bad night. Our other dishes were not inedible but they were all below average. We came here on a recommendation from a friend and the other reviews are pretty good, so you might give it a shot, but there are plenty of very good restaurants in the area. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. The airy tropical restaurant by the ocean serves gourmet food that made each member of our family swoon with delight. An amazing experience. My wife and I strolled up for dinner randomly and had the best dinner in Tulum (topping gitano/hartwood/casabanana/azulik)! Sam the manager checked in on us and had great energy while our servers (Juan Carlos and Marcos Antonio-brothers) were so friendly, informative and were always nearby if we needed anything. This is a review of the restaurant. Touted as the best seafood in Tulum. It sucked. For starters, there 2 fish dishes on the menu. 1 octopus, a steak and a hamburger. Doesn't sound like a seafood restaurant. My wife got the fish and it was so dry she sent it back. She never sends anything back. It is obvious that the renowned chef is not there regularly, if at all. The food is mediocre and the service was poor despite the restaurant being almost empty (only 4 tables filled including ours). We started with the ceviche, which only had a few very small bites of seafood. We asked about the 'whole fish off the bone' because we wanted it on the bone. It's actually previously filleted, so it's not even cooked as a whole fish. Both the shrimp and fish tacos are fried, which the menu doesn't say, so at least we asked about that and had the shrimp without it being fried. This is not the glorious seafood restaurant it's touted to be. If you want a burger or a roast chicken, this might be the place for you. read more

We had dinner here while staying at another hotel in Tulum, the restaurant has terrific ambiance, classy but not over the top. Drinks here as everywhere in Mexico could be stronger, my sons were very happy with their craft beers. I had the daily catch, snapper as it seems is the only local fish in the western Caribbean. Yes! This place saved my life yesterday. I braved a stroll in the Tulum heat and seeing this place was like discovering a cenote. The guac, ceviche, and spicy señorita cocktail were delicious! Moreover, the server Jesús was attentive, informative, and friendly. The view over the water is beautiful, like every other beachfront in Tulum, and it's a bit quieter here because it's away from the party center of Tulum. Highly recommend it! read more
