We visited Potheads on Beach Road a few times during our stay in Tulum to grab breakfast before heading out for activities. If you're on a tight schedule, definitely give yourself extra time. Service can be slow, especially during busy hours, and it can take a while for food to come out. That said, it's a nice spot if you're not in a rush and want to relax. The food was delicious. I had the peanut butter bowl, and the açaí ingredients were fresh and high quality. I just wish I had tried more items. My husband really enjoyed his breakfast burrito and said it was very satisfying. The latte was just okay. They use syrup from a plastic bottle, which I personally didn't love, so I wouldn't recommend coming here specifically for coffee. Tried a tumeric shot instead and that was yummy! One of the best parts is the location. It was super convenient for us since it was about a block from where we were staying at Azulik and within walking distance of everything cute in the area. The upstairs seating is great for people watching, and the overall vibe is very tropical and relaxed. The servers were okay, not especially friendly, but I get that they probably deal with a lot of tourists every day. Overall, it's a good spot for tasty breakfast bowls and burritos in a great location. Just come with patience and skip the latte. read more

We came here on a whim the first morning of our stay in Tulum. It was open early and had coffee It's a cute , family operated cafe with a jungle-like seating area in the far back and an upstairs. They do light a mosquito repellent fog which is helpful. We arrived around 745a and no one else was around. Only some stragglers from the prior night still getting after it. We ordered two lattes with almond milk and two breakfast burritos. The one I had was really good, beautiful presentation for breakfast. The ratio of potatoes:eggs:bacon was a little off and it seemed like a little more potatoes than other stuff in my partners. Overall, though it was super convenient and they do have some really good specials for fish tacos and drinks later on in the afternoon. We only had one meal here during our stay so can't speak too much else. They did seem to be reasonably busy throughout the day when we would drive by though. read more

Potheads is such a cute brunch place. They have a small seating area. The service was very fast and our server was very sweet and friendly. We tried their veggie burrito, iced latte, hot latte and some eggs with bread. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Made it here randomly for happy hour on a Tuesday afternoon. It seemed like the busiest place on the beach strip. Pros: - discounted fish tacos and 2x1 cocktails during happy hour. Fish tacos were delicious - plenty of open air seating - board games and Jenga available to play - prompt drinks upon ordering Notes: - bathroom is down the stairs in the back garden. Accessibility wise I noticed a few people struggling with that - just something to be mindful of - food came out after 40min. Delicious, but ridiculously expensive and nonchalant service - where you had to wave them down to get seated, wave them down to order, wave them down for the check. Atmosphere is and decor was cool though. I really enjoyed the wet burrito, it's not spicy! Even though it was wet, it wasn't soggy. Flavor came through well. The smoothie bowl was delicious - we tried the mermaid bowl. Parking is scarce if you're not already in the area. We paid overpriced parking (200 pesos -11 usd for the day) to eat and lay out on the beach. So for two burritos, and a smoothie bowl... $57 dollars including tip. How? Not sure. Delicious inexpensive brunch! I walked here from my hotel about a half a mile up the road. I found this cute spot that offered healthy options including smoothies, healthy shots, smoothie bowls and other breakfast food. I came here several times during my stay and they have free wireless as well. I got the mango smoothie bowl and the matcha bowl. Both were very good and filling. The portions they give you are big as well. They have breakfast all day too and the seating options are huge. Indoor and outdoor seating. read more

I came by Potheads with a group of friends during our spring break trip. I ordered the salmon bagel (yes even in Mexico but I was craving one lol). The bagel was strangely giving croissant but it was a bagel. It was super yummy though - the sandwich was packed with salmon I kept having to reconstruct the sandwich because it kept falling out. I also appreciated that they didn't put a brick of cream cheese in it like they do in New York. The service was alright. I think the waiters were eavesdropping on our conversation because we were discussing doing an ATV tour and then they came up to us and told us they knew a guy lmao. Two major issues: 1) Five of us ate, and only two of us were okay with their food. There huevos rancheros tasted like bad Italian. 2) No air, no fans, no nada. This was our least favorite dining experience in Tulum. We wanted to try it because there were quite a few vegan options and that meant everyone in our party could eat here & enjoy. The staff was not friendly or welcoming at all. The ordering process was not seamless. The food came out staggered and left people in our party waiting while others had food. We were not in during a busy time, there were plenty of open seats. The food was mediocre at best, the worst that we had while in Tulum - and you still have the joy of paying full on Tulum prices! They have another location in the town and it was the original one I wanted to check out- but I'm glad we stumbled on this one while driving back into the zona hotelera. Super tropical vibes and great service. Make sure to ask for their spicy sauce. They'll warn you that it's "muy picante" and maybe, like me, you'll take it as a challenge and put more than necessary on your food. This time... I should have believed them when they warned me. So good! Chilaquiles are extremely delicious! The tortillas were nice and perfectly crisped, so good! We both ordered green chilaquiles with chicken. Had chicken chunks instead of shredded which was a lot better! We were lucky to sit in the back jungly patio and our servers were great! Very friendly and extremely attentive! My friends and I came to Tulum to check out the popular beach strip and wanted fresh juice. We ordered this turmeric orange juice for $100 peso and told the waiter/owner "to go." He gave our drink and upon paying $100 peso, he said $10 peso more. We were so confused with the additional charge. He said it's for the "to go" cup. So, why wasn't this disclosed on the menu or mentioned prior? Especially when we had informed him it was to go? We felt tricked with this sneaky hidden fee and told him he should mention the "to go" $10peso fee on the menu and he seemed pissed at us. He was rude and yelled at us as though we were wrong. Horrible service and the juice is nothing to brag about; turmeric wasn't blended well with the juice and had a gritty taste. Never going back! read more

If you want to spend half of your day just waiting for the menu and then another 3 months to get your food, and I don't even mention the check ( they will never give you back your change ) ONLY THEN you're welcomed there. It was our last morning before our flight out and we've ran out of pesos and cash. We read the review of another fellow yelper and they said the form of payment PayPal would be possible.
