So we've been wanting to try this restaurant for years. It's where the Cesar Salad was created after all, right? Kinda bummed we just chose the wrong day and time. We were in town for a festival right down the street, so it only made sense. 5 stars for the food. We started with bread and an olive spread, I asked for butter. The bread was perfectly toasted. Next they brought the calamari and salmon tacos. Both were excellent. Lastly, they prepared the Cesar Salad at our spot at the bar. That was definitely the hit of the meal. The wait time was crazy, we then we asked us we wanted to dine at the bar so we took it. Service was not it, must be because we were at the bar and they were slammed. We'll be back to dine in proper and hopefully have a better experience
Honestly, I have been wanting to come here for a few years! Was it worth the wait - yes! The restaurant was clean with a classic Italian restaurant look. First up on the menu is the table side prepared Caesar salad. We opted for the "large" portion with shrimp. The dressing phenomenal & shrimp prepared perfectly. Our only wish was they had @ least 3 more pieces of romaine lettuce. The served bread with a fresh ground olive spread. Spread tasted good but the bread gave store bought vibes. For our main entrees we ordered: BEEF WELLINGTON - was prepared well. Meat tender encased in puff pastry. LAMB CHOPS juicy & tender! Peppery brown gravy & mint chimichurri jelly on the side. Both came with sides of blanched veggies & crispy baby potatoes. For dessert we got flan. The flan was a great ending. It was creamy & smooth almost like a cross between flan & crème brûlée. We were so happy to have had the opportunity to dine @ such a historical location!
What a treat. Long time friends brought me here. The home of the Caesar salad. It was great! Also ordered the bone marrow and the tuna tar tar. And of course margaritas! They make the salad at your table. They got our drink order a little wrong but corrected it. My friend didn't love the tuna. It was a bit on the sweet side. Probably just used to the US version. Beautiful presentation. Very professional staff. Beautiful traditional restaurant.
Every time I'm in Tijuana I always have to make a stop for THE Caesar salad. This was my first time having escargot and it was delicious. The oysters were presented well and tasted great. The decorations and music really set the mood for enjoying the meal. The martini... It's located in a great part of town so you can walk around and enjoy the sights.
FUN FACT: Caesar salad was invented here in TJ! I was shook when I learned that -- and also very excited because Caesar's Restaurant is just a short drive across the border. The restaurant is located on Revolución, so there's plenty to walk around and explore, plus lots of paid, secured parking nearby. We went during lunch for drinks and, of course, a Caesar salad. I love the whole idea of a tableside Caesar -- food and a show, honestly. The staff was friendly, and we ordered a mojito and a mezcal cocktail, both excellent. We got the large tableside Caesar, which is perfect for two people. The host came over, explained all the ingredients, mixed everything right in front of us, and served it up. It was great. I prefer a creamier Caesar where the anchovies are mixed in rather than left whole -- and that's exactly the style they make here. Definitely stop by, and I'd love to come back for a full meal next time we're in Tijuana.
This place was on my bucket list for quite some time and I finally had a chance to go. I ordered a mojito and it was just perfect. As for the famous Caesar salad, it was good but to be honest the one I had in Puerto Penasco, Mexico taste it better in my opinion. But still this place is an icon and it was a good experience. For an appetizer we ordered, beef carpaccio and it was pretty good. I also ordered carbonara but it was nothing like the carbonara that I know. It was more like alfredo and I was disappointed.
The best Caesar Salad you will ever have is here. They invented it. They serve it table side with the freshest ingredients. If you like a great salad, this is a must for you. The place itself is super pretty and very clean and comfortable. It is not cheap, but it is fairly priced. I put this in the fine dinning category. The service is perfect. Everyone is so very nice. You will be happy here. They have some of the best Italian pastas I have ever had. We love their PENNE A LA ARRABIATA and their FETUCCINNI CARBONARA. You might think you are in Italy. It is just so good. Their fish dishes are also great. We love the RISOTTO DE MARISCOS and their SALMÓN WELLINGTON. You just can't go wrong with anything you order. Their desserts are the bomb. They have a great corn cake and a wonderful chocolate mousse. At least one is a must. Have the best time.
After my friends finished their dental appointment and haircuts, we were ready to fill up our bellies with great food. Before I learned about its history, I grew up thinking the Caesar salad originated in Rome, Italy and named after Julius Caesar but the only thing Italian about it is the birthplace of its creator Cesare Cardini. And since reading about this fact, it became a bucket list item to eat the original Caesar's salad in the restaurant that first made it back in 1924. Today, we get to indulge in the experience of its table side preparation - a small production to behold with the 'salad maestro' placing each ingredient into the massive wooden bowl one by one, mixed fully and incorporating it onto the crunchy fresh Romaine lettuce then topped with generous grated Parmigiano Reggiano and toasted slices of bread. It's simple enough that anyone can do this at home and ask the question "why would you even choose store-bought dressing loaded with gums, corn syrup and chemicals. The first bite of the salad was worth the drive to San Ysidro, parking near the border, crossing over and taking an Uber to this well-known restaurant. Because my two friends just had some dental work done, they each ordered soup. One Classic French Onion soup and Tortilla soup. We shared an order of Gambas al Ajillo and I opted for the Spaghetti Al Pesto. I got to taste their soups as well and I shared half my pasta with them. Our waiters all spoke English and readily topped our glasses of water and accommodated our small requests like soda, olive oil and extra slices of bread. Only praises for the service! They were fully staffed! Compared to other guests during this lunch hour, we were underdressed in what is considerered the classiest restaurant in Tijuana according to San Diego Reader (2017) and we are not even in rugged clothing. I would definitely return here and bring my special date for a romantic evening of culinary delights and drinks.
The food is Awsome and price was great, but my waiter sucks! Short and of bald head short Waiter. I always have to ask for water refilled. The Resturant wasn't even busy at all around 4pm. The staffs was all talking stories amongst themselves! They just walk by my table and see the empty glass and don't even filled it until I asked. When I got the bills, the waiter told me we charge a 25% service charge here. I'm thinking, " What service??!" I didn't say anything and just pay the 25% service charged. Once again, the food was amazing, but their waiter is too arrogant!
May I make a suggestion? Do NOT order a steak. Caesar's is NOT the place for steak. Case in point, I ordered a rib eye, one of their most expensive cuts of red meat. Ribeye is a cut of steak known to be 1-1.5 inches thick. So when I saw my plate I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry. The "steak" wasn't even a 1/2 inch thick. Normally, I would send a plate like this back, but I honestly did not think it would get any better. They did however nail my medium rare request Yes, their Caesar's salad is one of the best I have ever had. Yes, they mix nice at the table side with raw egg yolk, anchovy and fresh black pepper. Yes the food server was excellent. Yes the establishment has ambience. In fact, Caesar's has one of the best decors in Tijuana. Even the ladies room was one of the neatest/cleanest I've seen in the city. Now, if we could only fix the steak I might come back.
This place is an institution, a must if you are in the area. The place is known for their classic Caesar salad which was inspired here, by a guy named Caesar, during the heyday of America's prohibition. This original version is fantastic, very tasty. It's made table side so it's fresh. The rest of the items we tried were very good but the star of the show is that salad. Go for the experience, the history and the great food.

I used to love coming to Caesar this time it was very disappointing. My sister salad is always very good, but I got the duck La'orange which is my favorite staple but unfortunately, it came out dry and overcut had to send it back and then by the time I seen the bag of room we ordered anything because we were already eating the pasta which was a very good . Experienced their iconic service was OK and ambience is always fun. Not sure if I'll go back anytime soon but definitely go for the Caesar salad.

We recently visited Caesar's Restaurant after about 10 years. The atmosphere and service were enjoyable, and Arturo was professional and kind, but the food wasn't as good as we remembered. The Caesar salad, made tableside, was the highlight: fresh and delicious. The mango margaritas were also excellent. The steak was just okay, a bit tough, and the Ate con Queso dessert was good but not special. The port wine was disappointing and didn't pair well. Overall, we had a pleasant experience, but the food didn't quite live up to our memories. read more

Classy-looking but not pretentious. I like the old-timey, classic look. I thought it was going to be uppity but I was pleasantly surprised that it's pretty relaxed inside. The wait staff were friendly and tried their best to explain things in a mix of some English and hand gestures. I got the legendary Caesar's salad and it's made and served table side. It's quite a performance. I certainly enjoyed watching it. But more than that, it's also the best Caesar's salad I've ever had. I also ordered the beef wellington, which can only be made medium-well or well done. I usually like my steak rare, so I chose the better option of medium well. Sorely disappointed of how it came out though; it looked and tasted well-done. But I didn't want to make a fuss about it and just ate it with disappointment. Fancy restaurant in the streets of Tijuana. During a walking tour we found out that the first Caesar salad was made at this restaurant 100 years ago on the 4th of July. So we just had to try it out as we love Caesar salads. Our wait time was initially 30 minutes but it took about 10 minutes to get a table. This Caesar salad was nothing like the one we eat today with the thicker and creamier dressing. The dressing that they make in front of you is very light and uses anchovies and a egg yolk. The salad was interesting but it was not my favorite. My mango margarita tasted like it barely had any alcohol in it. Customer service was good. Overall, this was a one and done situation for me. read more

Dining at Caesar's is like stepping into a piece of history with a timeless, old-school charm. The atmosphere has a classic, vintage feel that makes the whole experience special. Drinks were excellent....well balanced and served with care. The highlight, of course, was the famous Caesar salad. They prepare it right at your table, mixing the dressing from scratch and tossing it fresh....it's both fun to watch and absolutely delicious. Crisp, flavorful, and exactly what you'd hope for at the birthplace of the Caesar salad. Also had the Salmon Meunière, which was just as good! Easily my favorite dining experience in Tijuana! Who knew that Caesar salad originated here? We made reservations for a Monday lunch, and there was already a short line waiting outside before opening. We loved our carajillo drinks - they were smooth and well balanced. We also loved how they prepare each order of Caesar salad at your table. They explain each ingredient, and the culminating salad is absolutely fantastic. The Caesar dressing is rich and creamy, and the croutons are fresh and crunchy. We also ordered the beef Wellington and pasta carbonara. The beef was good, but a bit overdone for my taste. The pasta was delicious and creamy. We loved our meal and will definitely return. read more

It's a very clean and classy place that reminds me of the oldest restaurant in California, the Tadich Grill in San Francisco. Service was quick, efficient, and very professional. The famous original Caesar salad is made tableside with a flair and while it doesn't look like much when done, it's truly fantastic--somehow more than the sum of its few simple ingredients. You can buy Cardini Caesar salad dressing in grocery stores, but its not the same. We also had the Tacos De Caviar Mexicano (refried black bean) and Burritos De Cameron appetizers which both were perfectly delicious with excellent side salsas. Even the two types of bread served with some kind of herb butter were great. Can't wait to go back and try the great looking entrees and desserts. read more

Have visited this restaurant for years always been great food and customer service but today the doorman was very rude and judgmental my wife was inside sitting at the bar when I tried to join her. He said he wasn't going to allow me in. I don't know if it was because I was wearing a sweatshirt and baseball cap, but I am attaching a photo of the doorman. read more

One of my favorite restaurants! Great food, excellent service and great seating arrangements. My experience here was near perfect. I recommend the Beef Wellington, flan and, of course, the Caesar salad; prepared fresh at your table. The downside for me was the musicians coming in off the street and interrupting my dinner to request money to play a song, I didn't appreciate the loud music. It made communication difficult. I wanted a quiet dinner, some people enjoy the music. read more

An absolute must if fancy a good steak! I had the beef wellington it was cooked perfectly, what else could you expect from THE place that invented the cesar's salad. No chance to take a picture of my beef wellington, I dove right in. I got a photo of the crab stuffed appetizer, it was real crab! Also had the large cesar salad, they make it table side. Ordered: Ensalada Caesar's ($165 pesos): the original Caesar salad, made at the table Aya's take: You can't really come to Tijuana without trying the original Caesar salad! The ambiance feels like an old, classic steakhouse vibe with plenty of seating. The Ensalada Caesar's is more of an experience than a meal, in my opinion. The table-side "show" is pretty awesome as they give you a recipe card to take with you and then demonstrate how they make it. I typically don't have Caesar Salad with the lettuce leaves being whole but this really works. The coddled egg and anchovy fillets were not prominent in the salad at all. I thought it would overpower the dressing but not at all. The baked garlic croutons were also super delicious and much larger than any crouton you see nowadays. Probably a tourist trap but good try overall! read more

I had the most incredible meal of my life here! Caesar Salad Delight Let me start with the Caesar salad. The dressing is absolutely phenomenal--it's finger-licking good and so addictive! I would happily fly to Tijuana just to enjoy this salad again. Ribeye Steak Perfection Next up was the ribeye steak, cooked to perfection and seasoned like a true culinary artist. While the meat itself was good, the chef's seasoning and that delightful gravy took it to another level. The steak was incredibly tender, and I absolutely loved it! Beef Wellington Adventure I finally tried Beef Wellington, something I had always wanted to experience but hesitated due to the $80.00 price. Here, it was only $20 USD! Although I have type 2 diabetes and skipped the pastry, the steak was tender and seasoned beautifully, with a gravy that was simply to die for. The chef truly excels at making gravy and seasoning steaks exceptionally well. A New Favorite This was my first visit, and I am completely smitten! I loved the food so much that I can't wait to return with all my nine girlfriends. I felt like I was dining at a five-star restaurant while only paying fast-food prices. What an amazing experience! Finally crossing this one off the bucket list. After seeing Gordon Ramsey visit this iconic restaurant, I had to try it out. It's located in heart of downtown Tijuana in the famous Cesar's hotel. Food: you get a complimentary bread basket at the start. Everything I ordered was delicious and served perfectly. I got the beef Wellington as the main course but the show stopper was the table side Cesar salad which they consider it was originated from this very historic restaurant. Very rich and delicious, highly recommended. Beef Wellington was good, meat was slightly overcooked but overall solid. Service was great, they made sure I was taken care of. Ambiance is what sets this apart. Classic old Vegas vibes or should I say old Tijuana vibes. Beautiful interior and classy. If you are ever visiting Tijuana Mexico this is a must spot for all the foodies out there. read more
This is right where the legendary Cesar´s Salad originated. They prepare it for you right at the table and it is fun to watch. The Salad is crispy and the dressing well prepared. The portion you will get is somewhat small. The other dishes such as Beef Wellington are delicious. My favorite drink is the Tiramisu Martini. If you are in TJ definitely try this place! read more

Who knew the Caesar salad was "invented" in Tijuana, MX? Well, not me! My husband and I went there for lunch. He'd been several times before. I had a great time. This is a lovely, classy formal dining room with a relaxed vibe. Linen tablecloths and napkins! Beautiful dark wood panels on the walls. Of course, we ordered the Caesar salad. It was made at the table, and they kindly omitted the anchovies from mine per request. That was nice. A great experience and delicious dressing. I had the stroganoff and my husband got the burger. Both were tasty and good. The servers were attentive and professional. read more
Phenomenal! So good. Such great service. Walked in about 2 PM on a Saturday and got seated right away. We came in for the day from LA just try the original Caesar salad and it did not disappoint. The decor was swanky af, nice chill music from the old days. Service was top tier. Was greeted by a...classy bouncer who had the entrance roped off. I loved it. Staff is attentive. Our server must of heard us discussing my birthday , we didn't tell them, they brought a happy birthday flan along with our Crème brûlée. That is how lovely the service is. THE FOOD: Complementary bread - good and plenty. The spread that was served with is not for everyone. It has Spanish olives, garlic. I enjoyed it tho. Cadillac Margaritas - hella good. We did two rounds Calamari - effing FIRE! So crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked on the inside. Not rubbery and over cooked. Well seasoned, served with a spicy aioli and panzu sauce. Table side OG Cesar Salad - omg! So delicious. The dressing was perfect, not heavy on any of the elements; not too salty, not too anchovy, not too tart, absolutely well balanced. Perfect to serve two persons. Definitely in my top three best Cesar's Tacos de Salmon Al Pastor - biiiish, you playing! Hella good. Amazing! So glad that my friend spotted this on the menu. The pineapple flavor was the damn WIN. Flan - actually better than the Crème brûlée. lol nice with Carmel touches. Crème brûlée - I could pass. Not impressive but still decent. read more

Everyone in Mexico brags about this restaurant and it definitely live up to what was said.. I love restaurants with white linen table clothes. The service was very professional. The Ceasar salad was so good (the dressing made from scratch at your table) I wanted more but I needed to wait on my meal. I didn't want to be so full. Read that this was the birthplace of Caesar salad so we had to go try it when we went to TJ for a quick day trip. We just had the salad, which was made tableside but the rest of the menu looked great as well. The salad was pretty good except we would have loved whole anchovies instead of anchovy paste. Still very good though. read more
