On a recent visit to Amsterdam, my wife and I stopped for dinner at the Ristorante Sardegna. We found the experience so excellent that we returned the next night for our final dinner in Amsterdam. Simply put, the food is splendidly prepared and presented, and the service is friendly, informative and impeccable. If we lived in Amsterdam, we would return at least every week, probably more often. If we have the good fortune to return to Amsterdam in the future, we will return. read more

Great neighborhood italian restaurant. I love their truffle pappardelle that they often make as a special. They make it in front of you with cognac inside a cheese wheel. Delicious! Antipasti are very good, and the main dishes and pizza look pretty good too but I've always gone for pasta. read more

Rude service and mediocre food make this a place to forget. When I complained to the owner/manager that Nadia, the food deliverer, was rude and aggressive with her nasty comments, the manager called me a crazy with crazy eyes. She berated me at length until my friend spoke to her in Dutch. Then Nadia came back to the table to criticize my opinion (which I gave directly to them to avoid having to write a review). She didn't stop with her insults until I started videoing her. The ho-hum food was not worth it. The pasta with smoked salmon was salty, the spinach ravioli was cold with it's melted butter already hardening, the bread was dry, I had to add oil and vinegar to make the arugula salad palatable, and we couldn't get another bottled water from the waiter which we needed with all the salty food. I called the concierge at our hotel to complain about his recommendation and snap some sense into the owner. She refused to speak with him "on my xxxx phone" and refused to take his call later when he followed up. He has removed Sardegna from his list of recommendations and I'm doing the same. read more

Terrible experience at this restaurant. The food was sub-standard to say the least. Arugula salad was a bowl of undressed arugula - ravioli arrived stone-cold with curled-up edges atop a congealed puddle of butter. Yum! That all paled next to the incredibly rude wait-staff who were dismissive and condescending to begin, and then became hostile and abusive once these shortcomings were pointed out. As someone who never takes the time to write a review, I feel compelled to do so. I recently dined alone on a busy Friday evening. The food, wine and ambience were great. However, what really stood out was the service. I observed the entire team working together in harmony. Post COVID, it seems like mediocre service is expected and accepted as a norm. Sardegna appears to have cracked the code and emerged stronger and better. Owning a restaurant is a tough business. My compliments to the owner for finding and tracing the talent to deliver this service. I will definitely return the next time I am in Amsterdam. read more

It is a modern decorated traditional Italian restaurant. I chose here because it has my favorite Spaghetti aglio olio e peperoncino and Spaghetti con vongole. Those two dishes are not popular among the italian course in Amsterdam. I went for Spaghetto con vongole(scallops in white wine sauce), the taste is a little light and kind of lack taste which scallops usually bring. The dessert pudding in coffee sauce is so perfect! The bitter of coffee mild the sweetness of pudding, giving a wonderful taste and smell. You shouldn't miss it. I've check yelp and other review website before i go and found the negative reviews mostly came from the unkindness of the service. I feel ok this time. For my opinion, I always think the taste is the priority, unless the service is really unacceptable. read more

Currently in love with everything Italian (again). This restaurant has glamourous Sophia Loren pictures gracing the walls and great food! This was a great place to go for a meal as a couple. We went for a good but not expensive bottle of prosecco with carpaccio for my husband and Bruschette miste for me to start. Both were excellent. I recommend the Spaghetti con vongole for main. It was a great meal with good service and a nice crisp atmosphere in the restaurant appropriate for friends or family dining. I did not have room for tiramisu but will be back. read more

We had a beautiful meal for two at 10pm on a Thursday evening. The service was warm and professional yet unobtrusive. The house red wine was delicious and well-priced. Noticeably high-quality olive oil. Perfect, tiny serving of olive tapenade arrived with warm bread before the first course. The salads were off the charts- the mozerella, tomato, basil, rocket (arugula), pine nuts and parmesan in the two salads were all perfect, fresh and delicious. Our pastas- the truffled papardelle with fresh shaved parmesan and the lasagna were both remarkable- perfectly balanced, portioned, served at the correct temperature and with gorgeous flavors. I would take any date, friend, family or client here anytime I visit Amsterdam. A memorable meal! read more

Our hotel was in the same Musuem Quarter neighborhood as Sardegna and we were drawn in by the nice neighborhood feel of the restaurant and the fairly reasonable prices given the dollar-to-euro exchange rate. We ended up going there twice for dinner. The staff at the restaurant was very friendly which made us feel very welcome. Over the course of our 2 meals we tried the pizza, risotto and a special pasta dish that is worth describing. The restaurant makes fresh pappardelli each evening. The waiter then rolls a cooking table to your table which has an entire wheel of parmasian cheese on it with a cored out central part in the shape of a large bowl. The waiter then takes out a cup of cognaq which they light on fire and pour into the cheese wheel bowl. They stir it around for a few seconds, blow it out, then pour the pasta in and stir it around for a minute or so. While stirring they dig into the cheese a bit to mix it into the pasta. This is then served piping hot. It was a fun presentation to watch. The pasta was quite good and went well with the very nice house red wine. For our other meal, the pizza and risotto were merely average (looked better than it tasted). We didn't try the desserts (limited choices) either time. Overall a good dining experience, one meal a bit better than the other. We woudl recommend this restaurant for the nice atmosphere and good service. read more

I ate here with a colleague several times on a business trip to Amsterdam. The food was consistently good but we came back to Sardegna mainly because the prices were even better. The exchange rate didn't favor the US Dollar (I think a Euro was $1.45 at the time) and we had to be careful with our expenses. This restaurant is located in an upscale neighbourhood in the Museum Quarter of Amsterdam. The staff are friendly and warm and speak English but the food is average and the service is very very slow. We ordered an expensive bottle of wine, appetizers and Spaghetti Vongole. It took the kitchen 90 minutes to prepare our dinner. As well, the tables for two are too small to have a comfortable dinner. read more

Delicious! Mom and I had a spectacular dinner here last night. We shared Rocket Salad, Sautéed Mushroom antipasti and then Linguine Gamberetti. The house wine was just 4 euro a glass and absolutely passable. The service was good and although very busy on this Saturday evening, our waiter was very attentive. Great meal at a great price. Just arrived for a long weekend together and hotel recommended Sardegna when we asked for a good Italian place that was not too fancy. Sardegna exceeded our expectations even coming from New York where really good Italian restaurants are aplenty. Sardegna has a contemporary decor though the place has been there for 40 years. The menu has a nice variety of antipasti, pasta, meats and fish and the desserts are delicious. My wife had the cod which she found to be just perfect. I had a pizza margarita and a pasta with beef ragu, completely abandoning my avoidance of carbs, but it was well worth it. The food was delicious, the service was welcoming and professional and the owner served as a concierge for us, sharing her favorite tips and places to visit In Amsterdam. This was about a 10 minute stroll from the Rijksmuseum (15 from Van Gogh), which put it outside typical tourist destination territory, something we appreciated (even as tourists) so that we were eating in a great "neighborhood" Italian restaurant. Once we finally got our food, it was quite good, but the service was terrible. Ruined the last dinner of our two week vacation. The server practically threw the menus at us. We had to flag someone else down to get a drink menu. She pestered us three times to order while we were still looking at menus. We had to ask for bread, which was very much like pop n fresh biscuits in the US. They put three circles of bruschetta on the table for three people, but took the last one away well before our meal arrived. This restaurant will not serve tap water, only bottled. The service was great. Among other things I accidentally dropped my knife and I had a new one as soon as I sat back up from picking up the one I dropped. I've never seen that happen so fast before. The food was decent; I had a stuffed pork tenderloin dish which was rather on the too salty side, but I suspect that was a bit of a fluke and that the other dishes are better. We were denied service on the claim that we were 3 (my 1 yr old, my 11-mo pregnant wife and myself) but only my wife wanted to order food. The owner told us to leave unless we order for 3 people. Pros: they give you an amuse-bouche (a tiny bruschetta with what seemed to be tomato paste, not fresh tomatoes) and tapenade with bread rolls. The house wine was good but the measure seemed short. I had an interesting dish of penne with smoked salmon (and zucchini and cherry tomatoes) - at first the smoked salmon taste seemed too strong, but after a few bites the whole thing tasted really good. Nice looking place, decorated in white and black, with photos of Italian cinema stars on the walls (eye candy for those knowing La Loren and Marcello Mastroianni). Cons: paying for water(1.5 eur for a small tumbler). Service started well (even having cutlery replaced after starter) but seemed to dip a bit as the place got busier (it started to get crowded around 7 on a week night, by 7:30 almost all tables were full). Being presented the wine menu before the food menu or a simple question on whether I want to eat, drink or both. read more
