Here visiting for a few days and found Bella Storia down the road from us for takeout. After a quick chat with the staff in the market section of the restaurant, took home and ate some of the most delicious vegetarian lasagna ever. FOOD: The lobster spaghetti was delicious, with fresh lobster and homemade/handmade pasta cooked to a perfect al dente. SERVICE was very good: I didn't have a reservation, but they found a table even though it was getting quite busy. ATMOSPHERE: The dining area is quite cozy, with the tables squeezed in rather close to each other, but the atmosphere is so boisterous and fun and the waiters are so friendly (they may sit down with you at the table to talk about the specials and make recommendations) that the overall impact is rather charming and homey. read more

Good Italian food. Very friendly service. The place is very small so be ready to sit elbow to elbow with your friends or maybe people you do not know. It is like having your Italian mamma in the kitchen cooking for you. Good thing is that they do not use too much salt!! The Burrata as a starter was just great. Juicy and full of flavor mozzarella with yesssss.... great balsamic on it. That is how it has to be eaten !! I had truffle ravioli served with a fresh tomato sauce. Very delicate. My friends got the fresh made tagliatelle with mussels which I heard were good. Also the pasta with salsiccia I heard was yummy!! Very well served. Portions not huge, but more than filling. End my dinner with a great hone made tirami su. Also the cake with ricotta and canditi was superb. Of course grappa, lemoncello and coffee with amaro to cap the evening. Red and white wine were good. Verdicchio was a particular good match with the pastas. The price was ok. Felt very satisfied. As I said the place is small but not too noisy. I absolutely LOVE Bella Storia. It's absolutely in my top 3 Amsterdam food experiences. It might also be the most Italian place in Amsterdam. The staff are all super Italian, and amazing, and the food is authentic, fresh, homemade and DELICIOUS. They have an extensive selection of antipasti, including burrata (!) and various cuts of meat, fresh bread, those bright green olives; fresh pasta dishes with sauces that are out of this world, and a delicious selection of pizzas if you're into that. I've been there once for dinner, which was lively, lovely, buzzing, with great service and by the way they were very competent in catering to a large group. I've also been here once for lunch (for which they open if you are a group of 6 or more) and THAT was an amazing experience! The chef slash server basically created for us a tasting menu of all the starters and the pastas he had available that day. Everything was fresh, made to order, and perfectly timed with friendly service to boot. This is truly an Amsterdam hidden gem and a must visit. read more

Pizzas were a generous size. The Neapolitan sauce base on the margarita was too tomato-pastey, sloppy, and lacked the body of flavour I've come to love from a true San Marzano sauce. The dough was pretty good albeit saturated in the middle due to the sauce. Mozzarella was good. The rye bread they bake themselves and matching balsamic & olive oil combo was delicious. The second pizza (tartufo) had an interesting (trufflish) flavour, however too salty. I would recommend the bread and the tartufo, not so much the margarita. I must say the table next to us ordered pasta and it look really good. Might try that next time! read more

We really wanted to like this place. the start was promising, the burrata was great and so was the Antipasti plate (each 12€). Then we had to wait for the lobster and shrimp pasta (which we ordered together in the beginning with the starters) for almost an hour. It was very disappointing. there were just four pieces of shrimp and the lobster had a lot of work involved but hardly any meat. The pasta was boring too with tomato sauce like from a can. Then the rib eye steak came again after a long time. It was ordered medium rare but was really boring. first it looked overcooked and it was not grilled but somehow cooked. It was tasteless, really like nothing. so generally: big disappointment. the service was also not good. They let us wait forever and didn't really care when we asked them why it all takes so long. Go there or not? definitely skip. hadn't the wine and the antipasti been good, it would have gotten one star with a mark of one of the worst restaurants of the year. read more

American travelers, I highly recommend this restaurant. Mind you, you might need a reservation if you want to sit outside. We were lucky enough to get a seat inside. We were recommended to eat here by our friends and they were right. Our waiter Carlo was the most perfect and kind human in Amsterdam. He went above and beyond any waiter I've ever met to make us feel at home. While they did not have a menu in English, he sat down with us and read every item in English on the menu just so we can understand. Best service in all of Amsterdam. His recommendations were spot on along with the drinks as well. Dinner pasta was amazing! We'd go here again and we'd hope to see Carlo again. read more

Have been walking past Bella Storia for months now and just had dinner there last night. I always thought it was a good sign that the restaurant was packed in the evenings and shortly after we got there at 6, the place began filling up. Ann and I started with the antipasti for 2 and chianti and it was heavenly, different summer flavors - grilled eggplant, zucchini with shaved parmesan and lemon, fritatta and big chunks of soft gooey mozzarella. I've missed those tastes! Very happy. I had one of the many specials - parppardelle pasta with tomato sauce, broccolini and sausage. Ann's dish was summery, like the antipasti - with lemon and olives and sausage. I ate a bit of hers and almost all of mine. Feast! Ate indoors and moved outside and drank wine and left without trying desert. Next time, soon. read more

Nearly impossible to beat the pizza in Naples, but Bella Storia comes very close with fantastic service and great ambiance. Highly recommend this spot for great Italian in Amsterdam. Phone and book a table as it gets busy especially on weekend nights. Buon Appetito! read more

Authentic, little Italian restaurant in the upcoming westerpark area with it's culturearea the "westergasfabriek", which hosts clubs, restaurants, lunch places, gallery's, etc. Go here for a real Italian atmosphere... the waiters are Italian, and so are the chefs. Everything is prepared with the passion you'd expect from a place like this. Bella Storia has fantastic home made, fresh pasta's, meat & fish dishes, and it's not as expensive as the places in the city center. When the wheater allows it you can sit outside. read more

We went there on Pizza day for having a good Pasta. Yeah, genius decision, but they have had 4 different kind of pasta for us. So we ordered a really good plate with Antipasti as starter and for main course tagliatelle bolognese and home made ravioli with two fillings: one with lemon and ricotta cheese and the others with orange and something else. Great stuff but a bit too less for a main dish. For the finish we ordered some home made Tiramisu, which was really really delicious. read more

I don't normally give out this many stars to spots that aren't tops in terms of decor and space, but what can I say...this is my neighborhood Italian spot and it feels like family. The staff is super friendly, the food is yummy. The little shop next door serves take away and great italian groceries. If you sit outside you can watch the full neighborhood in effect, shouting hello's, arguing on cell phones, keeping their dogs in check, biking by with kids in tow. Pastas are good, specials always offering something new. Lasagne take away is cheap, huge, and yum. Grazie! read more

Now this may be been the best find of my trip to Europe, no lie! We found this place on Yelp close to our Airbnb, and man oh man was it great! It was kind of hard to find, but once we found the front door and pushed through some curtains they had up to block cold air from coming into the restaurant (making us doubt we were in the right place), we were pleasantly surprised to find a small, lively Italian restaurant. We found a waitress who seated us as soon as there was a free table, of which there are few. From there, we were greeted with a fantastic wine selection, excellent food recommendations from the waiter, and exquisite tasting food with perfect portion sizes. We literally had a full coarse meal here, having started with wine and appetizers, having one of their awesomely delicious pizzas, and closing out with some coffee and desert. And the price was not bad either! I was thoroughly impressed with this restaurant, and if you are in the area, I highly, highly recommend stopping in for some dinner, as you will not be disappointed!! read more
