One Dim Sum - Rice noodle with beef. Delicious!

My wife and I were looking for a dim sum place near where we were as we walked back to our hotel,…read moreand One Dim Sum popped up on Yelp! We arrived around 4:30, and it was not a problem getting a table although the place was busy. They sat us in the window looking out on the street. The service was prompt, and the menu had a lot of options. We placed an order for seven different small dishes. In short order, the dishes arrived one by one. We were tired from the flight over, but the food picked us up. We got the chicken dumplings, the pork dumplings, the minced beef meatballs, an onion pancake, spring rolls, and a few more items. Everything seemed freshly cooked. The food was good but did not wow us. They give you soy sauce for the dim sum, but I would have liked additional sauces. I did ask for some hot sauce, and they brought me a chili oil sauce which was very good. The staff were very friendly and happy to help with any request. The price was reasonable (two of us for under $50 Euros). The decor is neat and clean. I would definitely recommend.

I think it's an Amsterdam thing but wanted to give a heads up that you have to pay for TAP water 2 Euros for one carafe. Wing Kee - This doesn't look like real money. They refuse to give me something else.

As with everywhere else, it's not cheap anymore, but still delicious. The comfortable interior is still the same with the pale pinkish walls and framed Chinese art. Tables aren't squeezed too close together. Waitresses are the same as most typical Chinese restaurants, quick and no-nonsense. That's fine with me! I try to drop by every year, and today I was craving crispy pork belly and roast duck with white rice (Combo #14). The roast duck is called Peking Duck here, but it is not anything like Peking Duck with buns you'd find in USA, UK and Hong Kong. It's like the roast duck hanging in the windows. For €19 I thought I would get more meat and maybe a few Chinese vegetables on the side of the plate, but the portion was enough for my lunch. The dish was definitely tasty and I'll be back when I have another Cantonese BBQ craving in Amsterdam.

For whatever reason this trip might be the first time I really missed home-cooking/comfort food for once. My wife and I ordered their 2 meat platter of your choice (which comes with rice), a small wonton soup, and beef chow fun. I'm personally VERY picky when it comes to beef chow fun. Before I took a bite of anything else, I had a bite of the chow fun first and was pleasantly surprised. It was delicious (though a bit bland for my taste -- personally). The smell of wok hei coming off the dish was very reassuring. The onions had seared spots, so I knew this chef knew what he was doing. For the 2 meats, we ordered siu yuk (crispy pork belly) and char siu (BBQ pork). Both were equally good, but I thought the siu yuk was a little better. The braising liquid/juices it comes with really enhances everything. Excellent with rice. Wonton soup was light and very delicate. The wonton was good, though nothing special. Perfect for the weather. Honestly the meal really hit the spot for my wife and I. We've had better at home, but Wing Kee is the real deal for Cantonese cooking and will guarantee to scratch that itch for home cooking. ALSO: the chili oil they have at the table is pretty spicy!! a must try for hot heads like me!
