I would like to preface this review by saying that German food is not my favorite cuisine; I like it, but lots of meat and potatoes is not my thing. However, I was open to trying the modern German cuisine menu here. I got the five-course prix-fixe menu. Even though it was five courses, some courses had two dishes. Each dish was executed well. You can appreciate the German origin of the components, like pretzel dough (in their pretzel bagel), braised meat (in their maultaschen), and regional cheeses (in their version of "Caesar salad").
My favorite dishes were:
* braised onion with black garlic
* maultaschen with chanterelles and bacon
* corn crème brûlée with yellow habanero ice cream
Service was top-notch. Each staff member was attentive and ensured that I had a good experience. I was in a hurry and the kitchen was able to give me all five courses in 1 1/2 hours! Even though German food is not my favorite type of cuisine, I really enjoyed my experience here. It was fun to see how Merold can elevate traditional German food. Service could not be beat. read more
