The tasting menu at Restaurant Meille was probably my favorite meal in Copenhagen. It's extremely affordable and comes with 3 courses for lunch or 4 for dinner, with the option to add on additional snacks, cheese, and wine pairings. The menu changes weekly depending on what fresh produce is available.
While most tasting menus at fine dining restaurants are stuffy affairs, we loved the informality and relaxed nature of Restaurant Meille. We started with their snacks (an add on to the regular menu), which included the sweetest tomatoes I've ever tasted prepared several ways, as well as a fried croquette and tartare.
We then began the 4 course meal. Our first course was a chilled cucumber consomme with peas and more cucumbers, both fresh and pickled. It was very light and fresh, and a perfect start to our meal. We were served sourdough bread and some of the best butter I've ever had on the side, sprinkled with ash. Next came a mixture of roe and breadcrumbs, which was also very tasty.
Our main course was crispy pork belly, served with cauliflower foam and broccolini. The entire dish was very rich and decadent, and quite a large portion.
We finished with a slice of marzipan cake, chocolate crumble, and a wonderful strawberry sorbet, which again, was extremely fresh. All of the notes of the produce used in our meal really shone through.
Highly recommend if you are looking for a nice meal in Copenhagen without breaking the bank! read more
