Host is the definition of hygge. From the moment we walked in, the warm, cozy ambience and thoughtfully curated decor made the experience feel special and inviting. The service was excellent throughout - attentive, friendly, and perfectly paced. The food was outstanding. The scallops and potatoes were my personal favorite, cooked beautifully and full of flavor, but a special mention absolutely goes to the beef tartare, which was exceptional. You can really taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients in every dish, and the presentation was just as impressive. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the entire meal and service. My husband and I dined here on our last night in Copenhagen and had a fantastic time. It was our favorite meal that we had on the trip, and are so glad that we came. Reservations are a must here. The restaurant is clearly popular, because I booked about two weeks in advance, and was only able to get a 5:30 pm reservation on a Saturday night. Host is located in the main area of Copenhagen which is walkable. The ambiance here is chic yet rustic, with white brick and touches of nature scattered around the restaurant. Service was professional and kind. We decided to get the five-course menu which was extremely filling. We got several free additions so we ended up very full before the end. We spent our anniversary weekend in Copenhagen and had one of the most disappointing dining experiences at Høst. As frequent guests of Michelin-starred restaurants, this meal fell far below the bar. The food was bland, repetitive, and lacked creativity ,nothing memorable or refined. When we asked for more bread, we were told they couldn't serve any, which was shocking for a place marketed at this level. Service was inattentive, our anniversary went unacknowledged, and no one checked on us or refilled drinks. KenScale: 8.25/10 Visit: February 2024 Our memorable trip in Copenhagen was coming to an end, and we had one last place to visit for a meal. It was on a Sunday and many restaurants were closed. Luckily, my best friend from college who had been to Copenhagen with his wife multiple times suggested that we check out Høst which happens to open on Sundays. We had a fairly challenging day walking around the city due to heavy rain and needed a place where we could sit down and relax with some delicious food. Fortunately, Høst did provide that opportunity on our last night in Copenhagen. Høst, which means harvest in Danish, is focused on providing classic Nordic dishes with modern touch using seasonal ingredients. There are two tasting menu options with three and five dishes, respectively, but beyond those dishes the kitchen also brings out some surprises in between, like Belgian waffle with salad and trout roe, potato soup and Danish cream cheese tart. What impressed us about the restaurant was its precision in execution, like the expertly prepared scallops with hazelnuts sprinkled on top or the halibut with blue mussels and dill. By the looks of her expression, I could tell that Jun was very appreciative of the salt baked celeriac with Vesterhavsost (a type of Danish cheese). For the main dishes, we split stuffed chicken and lobster tail, each accompanied by morel mushrooms. Between the two, I would give a slightly higher score to the lobster tail for its pleasantly crunchy texture. We finished the meal with another surprise (white chocolate parfait with blueberry puree), followed by the main dessert of white chocolate with sea buckthorn and mandarin that was not overly sweet to my liking. Despite the weather, the dining room was getting quite packed in the course of our meal, so I suggest booking a reservation in advance. The surprisingly expansive wine list focuses on many natural wine varieties that are designed to complement all the delicious food from the kitchen. The cozy neighborhood bistro atmosphere with Scandinavian vibe was another plus to our dining experience. Høst is the kind of restaurant that you will want to go again and again, showing why Copenhagen is these days considered such an esteemed food capital in the world. read more

Absolutely incredible dining experience! I've been wanting to go here for a long time and it still exceeded my expectations. Everything from the warm greeting to the gorgeous restaurant to the incredible food for such a reasonable price felt intentional and authentic. My partner and I got a 5 course and a 3 course menu but they serve additional surprise courses. I also got an elderflower cocktail which was light, crisp and refreshing. Staff describe each dish when it's served and it was the best service we had in Copenhagen. Our favorites were the halibut, the savory Belgian waffles and the mango dessert at the end. I love how they paced the courses - giving you time to enjoy each course and spend time with your dining company while still bringing each course right when you're ready for the next. Start to finish, this was a great experience. The dishes themselves were wonderful. We very much appreciated the extras added by the kitchen, as these were a great complement to the tasting menu. The plating and actual dishware created a wonderful dining experience. Some dishes worked a bit better than others but in the end there was nothing that was terribly amiss. The overall ambiance of the place is so interesting. There are a ton of plants strewed about so it feels like you're in a greenery and the aesthetic fits well with the food. The best aspect of the meal, however, are the staff. In the ~10 dishes we experienced, we probably interacted with about 6 different wait staff. Each of them were so friendly and so knowledgeable. I witnessed that they essentially give the same spiel over and over again, but it wasn't in a force or bored manner as it easily could have been. All the surprises between the courses were cute but the meal from start to finish lasted over 2 hours due to confusion of what dishes we received and also lack of coordination of what items are to be served next. The staff here were all very friendly and the place is packed on both floors but Host is not a place I would recommend to others when visiting CPH. There was too long of a wait period between each course and many of the dishes used the same sides/garnishes which doesn't make sense. Thinking about our meals at Høst bring me so much joy!! I had made reservations online weeks before and this was our first meal upon landing in København and it set up the mood for our entire trip. We loved it so much we decided to come back again for our last night of our trip as well. We were able to snag a reservation for Sunday the morning before. *Food* Everything was amazing! Quality ingredients, creative flavors, and overall so tasty. We ordered the 5 course meal and it came with 3 extra *surprise* courses and fresh bread. The second night we came we ordered the 3 course and I believe that also came with 3 extra surprise courses. My favorite dishes were the Crab Salad with browned butter, Fried Chicken, Mussel soup, and Chamomile ice cream. We preferred the fried chicken over the rib eye. Went to a Michelin restaurant during our time here, and much preferred our meal at Høst both in terms of value and taste. *Drinks* We tried the juice pairing, wine pairing, and their home-made gin. The gin was the best gin we've ever tasted. Their homemade juice is good, but not necessary to be "paired". My favorite juice was their apple-wheatgrass juice. The wine pairing is amazing. The flavors of the wine and meals compliment each other so well and is a different experience from eating the meal stand-alone. Would highly recommend getting the wine pairing. *Ambiance* Not to sound like a cliche, but Høst is the epitome of hygge that I imagined. Rustic wood, plants, and candles everywhere. Fantastic meal, maybe best of our trip in Copenhagen. We each had the 3 course meal but that really becomes like 8 courses. It starts with a bread course, then we had a waffle and trout roe surprise. After that was an insane potato soup and egg and crunchy rice ball thing. Then the scallop which was probably the best bite of the night. For the mains you could have stuffed chicken, veal rib eye or lobster. The lobster tail is fried on a skewer, I'd skip. Of the two tables to my right and left, 4 of the 6 of us dining got the veal and it was horribly tough. I joked I needed a sharper knife, my neighbor actually asked for one, then used his fork to try and sharpen it more. Hilarious. Didn't help. So tough. My wife's chicken was 10x better. Excellent food, off-putting service. While Høst boasts an enviable tasting menu, the service we received from our waiter was some of the most bizarre and aloof we've ever received. It took 10 minutes for our waiter to first come to our table and then he just said, "Are you ready to order?" No greeting, no welcome, no offer of drinks or to answers questions. In fact, when I did ask what he recommended between the chicken and the veal he told he hadn't tried them but then recommended the veal (the one that cost an additional fee.) Spoiler alert: the veal was not the better of the two dishes and we sent it back to get the chicken instead. Our waiter never asked how we liked the dishes, nor whether we wanted additional drinks. He also tried charging us for the veal even though we sent it back. We just felt an overwhelming smugness from him. It totally took away from the experience, so sadly I could not recommend this restaurant. read more

We went for the 5 course meal which turned into 8 with all the freebies they snuck in. HØST MENU 5 COURSES They surprised us with a starting Fresh salad with a home made cheese, fresh spring pea shoots, cucumber, squash, radish and sweet cherries it was light and delicious. They also gave us fresh sour dough with fresh whipped butter. Salmon with currants, horse radish and trout roe. The salmon was fresh the currants had a surprisingly good sour flavor and the roe gave it a burst of sea. - Shrimp with cabbage and gooseberries tacos. We're absolutely amazing I could eat a million of these. I'll probably dream about them. Cauliflower with truffle, juniper and house made cheese. The broccoli was nice a crisp and the cheese sauce with herb's I could of eaten like soup. Wild mushrooms soup with thyme. Was a surprise and so good. It was creamy and earthy. Every sip you took you got a smell of thyme. Cod with mussels and broccoli with clam sauce. The clam sauce was unique and flavorful. The cod was tasty just a tad to rare for me but it was still really good. My girlfriend has the Beef tenderloin with pepper sauce, the steak was cooked medium served with potatoes. She's enjoyed it the steak was tender. The birch tree snow ice cream surprise was mind blowing. Be sure to get every lay with the pine cone in your first bite to get the full experience . Wild blueberries with blackcurrants and white chocolate. The perfect blend of sweet, creamy and sour. All I can say is I'm sad this half way across the world. My husband and I dined at Høst in June 2024, and overall, the experience was good, not great. The atmosphere was really nice, with an elevated modern design that meets warm and cozy Hygge. The staff was very friendly, personable, and attentive. However, the food fell a bit short. I chose the 3-course tasting menu, and my husband opted for the 5-course tasting menu, which was a plus since we didn't both have to choose the same thing. We both did the wine pairings with our meals. Some of the courses we absolutely loved--the surprise waffle with caviar, scallops with green strawberries and horseradish, and lobster tail dishes were fantastic. But about half of the dishes were very heavy cream-based, which was too much dairy for a multi-course menu. The wine pairings on the other hand were absolutely excellent. The sommelier definitely deserves 5 stars. The price was reasonable for the amount of food and wine included in the tastings. Overall, it was a positive dining experience, but the heavy use of cream in several dishes made this a 4 vs. 5 star rating for me. read more

First, make sure you have reservations - my brother and I had made them over a month in advance, and still didn't get our most preferred timeslot. Given their focus on locally sourced ingredients, it appears that the menu changes every few weeks!
