This place looked like a must when in Sweden and indeed it was!!!! Food was outstanding, all the dishes were very well put together and lots of flavors all in one. Definitely a place to make reservations, ambiance was great and luckily it was also Welcoming to kids. I would definitely recommend this place.

I had a wonderful three course experience here at Host. Service was great and food was next level. I would definitely go here again. The ambiance was great and intentional with rustic Scandinavian design influence. The highlight of the course was the grilled lobster tail!!!

My husband and I dined here on our last night in Copenhagen and had a fantastic time. It was our favorite meal that we had on the trip, and are so glad that we came. Reservations are a must here. The restaurant is clearly popular, because I booked about two weeks in advance, and was only able to get a 5:30 pm reservation on a Saturday night. Host is located in the main area of Copenhagen which is walkable. The ambiance here is chic yet rustic, with white brick and touches of nature scattered around the restaurant. Service was professional and kind. We decided to get the five-course menu which was extremely filling. We got several free additions so we ended up very full before the end. Each course we had was perfect and so flavorsome. Would highly recommend for a great meal if you're in Copenhagen.

This chain of bakery is through Copenhagen was founded by people who used to work at Noma. That explains their popularity and the subtlety the flavor. I much preferred their savory sausage roll to the cardamon bun. There is no line early in the morning.

I've dined here twice in the last 8 months! I love the cozy and homey interior! Their 5 course meal is so filling! It's definitely more than 5 courses with a few added surprises! Both times I did the juice pairing! Love it too!! The staff is all very attentive and friendly! They even allow kids, too! They can order a la carte!! Highly recommend making a reservation online!

Great little resto with a nice natural feel to it. The service is solid, food is delish and ambiance is very earthy and appealing. You essentially have a choice between a 3 course or a 5 course and a couple of pairings. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

5 course Michelin star meal for $76 @cofocodk (HOST) highly recommend if you're visiting Copenhagen, you can choose between chicken schnitzel, beef tenderloin or grilled lobster tail as your main entree and the rest of the dishes are served prior. It is located in the northern part of the city and a bit of a walk from being central. The experience was one of a kind - each dish had a "surprise" dish accompanied with it between courses and it truly was special. We spent our anniversary weekend in Copenhagen and had one of the most disappointing dining experiences at Høst. As frequent guests of Michelin-starred restaurants, this meal fell far below the bar. The food was bland, repetitive, and lacked creativity ,nothing memorable or refined. When we asked for more bread, we were told they couldn't serve any, which was shocking for a place marketed at this level. Service was inattentive, our anniversary went unacknowledged, and no one checked on us or refilled drinks. Beautiful setting, but poor food and careless service made this one of the weakest dining experiences we've had. Absolutely not worth the hype or price.

KenScale: 8.25/10 Visit: February 2024 Our memorable trip in Copenhagen was coming to an end, and we had one last place to visit for a meal. It was on a Sunday and many restaurants were closed. Luckily, my best friend from college who had been to Copenhagen with his wife multiple times suggested that we check out Høst which happens to open on Sundays. We had a fairly challenging day walking around the city due to heavy rain and needed a place where we could sit down and relax with some delicious food. Fortunately, Høst did provide that opportunity on our last night in Copenhagen. Høst, which means harvest in Danish, is focused on providing classic Nordic dishes with modern touch using seasonal ingredients. There are two tasting menu options with three and five dishes, respectively, but beyond those dishes the kitchen also brings out some surprises in between, like Belgian waffle with salad and trout roe, potato soup and Danish cream cheese tart. What impressed us about the restaurant was its precision in execution, like the expertly prepared scallops with hazelnuts sprinkled on top or the halibut with blue mussels and dill. By the looks of her expression, I could tell that Jun was very appreciative of the salt baked celeriac with Vesterhavsost (a type of Danish cheese). For the main dishes, we split stuffed chicken and lobster tail, each accompanied by morel mushrooms. Between the two, I would give a slightly higher score to the lobster tail for its pleasantly crunchy texture. We finished the meal with another surprise (white chocolate parfait with blueberry puree), followed by the main dessert of white chocolate with sea buckthorn and mandarin that was not overly sweet to my liking. Despite the weather, the dining room was getting quite packed in the course of our meal, so I suggest booking a reservation in advance. The surprisingly expansive wine list focuses on many natural wine varieties that are designed to complement all the delicious food from the kitchen. The cozy neighborhood bistro atmosphere with Scandinavian vibe was another plus to our dining experience. Høst is the kind of restaurant that you will want to go again and again, showing why Copenhagen is these days considered such an esteemed food capital in the world.

So why aren't waffle appetizers a thing in the US..?! We celebrated my husband's birthday at host and everything was delicious. Would recommend making a reservation as the place was packed on a weekday evening! We ordered the waffle appetizer, salad, schnitzel, and crepes for dessert. Highly recommend everything but we're were most impressed by the schnitzel!

Absolutely incredible dining experience! I've been wanting to go here for a long time and it still exceeded my expectations. Everything from the warm greeting to the gorgeous restaurant to the incredible food for such a reasonable price felt intentional and authentic. My partner and I got a 5 course and a 3 course menu but they serve additional surprise courses. I also got an elderflower cocktail which was light, crisp and refreshing. Staff describe each dish when it's served and it was the best service we had in Copenhagen. Our favorites were the halibut, the savory Belgian waffles and the mango dessert at the end. I love how they paced the courses - giving you time to enjoy each course and spend time with your dining company while still bringing each course right when you're ready for the next. I'd absolutely recommend dining here and I can't believe it doesn't have a Michelin star (though it is Michelin recognized).

Start to finish, this was a great experience. The dishes themselves were wonderful. We very much appreciated the extras added by the kitchen, as these were a great complement to the tasting menu. The plating and actual dishware created a wonderful dining experience. Some dishes worked a bit better than others but in the end there was nothing that was terribly amiss. The overall ambiance of the place is so interesting. There are a ton of plants strewed about so it feels like you're in a greenery and the aesthetic fits well with the food. The best aspect of the meal, however, are the staff. In the ~10 dishes we experienced, we probably interacted with about 6 different wait staff. Each of them were so friendly and so knowledgeable. I witnessed that they essentially give the same spiel over and over again, but it wasn't in a force or bored manner as it easily could have been. We debated for a while which menu to do, and the 5 course is the way to go.

This meal was just ok. All the surprises between the courses were cute but the meal from start to finish lasted over 2 hours due to confusion of what dishes we received and also lack of coordination of what items are to be served next. The staff here were all very friendly and the place is packed on both floors but Host is not a place I would recommend to others when visiting CPH. There was too long of a wait period between each course and many of the dishes used the same sides/garnishes which doesn't make sense. Why does the beef and fish both have the same micro greens when they are totally different entrees? Some items were hits but there were also several misses.

We tried Grød at two locations: the Torvehallerne market and at 7Eleven. The market, I ordered the Oat Porridge which came with apples, roasted almonds and caramel sauce, my mom had the All In! and my dad had the oat waffle. All of us (mostly) left satisfied. My picky father loved his waffle. And I really enjoyed the porridge I had. The oats perfectly cooked, the apples and almonds gave it a nice textural contrast. Plus the caramel, which was more like a dulce de leche added the perfect amount of sweetness without being too sweet. My mom was a bit ambivalent because the All In was too sweet. But to be fair, All In includes all of their toppings. Including chocolate and caramel so her assessment was fair! The Grød at 7Eleven had this wonderful chia pudding, layered with yogurt, natural peanut butter, a berry compote and nuts and I was obsessed. So simple, yet so wholesome. I found a cup at the airport and proceeded to import it back to the States. Overall, it was definitely worth a visit (or 2) to have my mind blown. I ate herring!! Ok,…read moresmall step back... It was my last full day in Copenhagen and I had yet to eat anything resembling traditional Danish food. So this day was the day! I was exploring the Frederiksberg area and just hoped that I would see something there where I could get a late lunch. I had passed over a couple other places because they were a little pricier/fancier than I was prepared for. But walking past Hansens Gamle Familiehave, it caught my eye and a look at their menu showed it to be in my price range. I was dining solo, so seating was quick and easy. I ordered a beer right away to whet my whistle and go along with my deciding what to eat. I had already decided on getting the mild cheese sandwich because I knew I would like that and I would have something tasty just in case I didn't like whatever else I got. I asked my server for a couple recommendations, and made sure to let him know that I do like fish and was really hoping to try something local and authentic. I settled on one of his suggestions, curry herring. They have paper menus where you mark on it what you want. It is like in some sushi spots in the US. Then they take that to send back to the kitchen, it appears. And worry not, there is English available! The sandwiches are open-faced, build-your-own kind of dish. They can absolutely be communal or shareable, should you be dining with others. One order was sufficiently filling, so with two orders I was more than satisfied with my meal. AND....the herring was delicious! I finished the herring order, and left part of my cheese one. What?! Who am I?! It was really tasty and flavorful. The sandwiches are served with buttered bread on a plate, with a bowl of the protein, and veggie condiments to be added as you like to your sandwich. I really enjoyed my meal and visit here. The only negative was sometimes trying to get the attention of the server when they hadn't been to the table in a while (which...I have noticed is a thing in Europe and an experience not unique to this restaurant on this trip), whether to ask to pay or let them know what I wanted to order. As a solo diner, I can see how bigger parties would get preferred service. It wasn't terrible, just something I noticed and had to work with. I would highly recommend a visit to the Frederiksberg area and a stop in at Hanses would be a great addition to your time there.
