When you are in Switzerland, you need to try Rösti, and we decided to have Rösti as our first meal in Bern. The restaurant is located in the Bear Plaza, it looks small from the front, but there are plenty tables. We ordered the Rösti Forestier and Rösti Beronis, both are delicious (although I'm no Rösti expert) The service is fast and efficient. A good place for lunch or dinner

Very good Swiss food restaurant to sit outside and people watch. The Rosti with sausage was tasty. Service was very good in a typical Swiss fashion (a bit standoff-Ish but always there when you need them). Definitely worth a try!!

After a fun filled day of cheese and chocolates, we headed to Bern to get rösti for dinner. The place we stopped by initially was just way too expensive (Altestramdepot) and also didn't have rösti. We then meandered the streets of Bern at night. I must say, it is a pretty sight at night. Probably one of the prettiest we saw during the night time. There was one main street which adorn in lights and stores where there was a river or water way running through the center. The stores were closed, but there were cellar doors on street level which made me believe if you were a little more curious than us, you'd see that some places were open (ie bars, cafes, or restaurants). All the menus for restaurants were so pricey (ranging from 19-60 CHF). We thought we'd have to eat McDonalds, until we saw the Bundesplatz and headed toward it. We then saw this place in an alleyway to the building and what do you know! A whole rösti menu and at reasonable prices (all under 15 CHF). The place was very warm both temperature and ambiance though the staff wasn't so much. It was a nice escape from the coldness outside. We ordered a rösti with raw ham, tomatoes, cheese and oregano as well as a portion of raclette which came with potatoes and onions. It was so good. I think the cheese on the rösti was raclette, but who cares! They both hit the spot. We washed it down with tea as beer probably wouldn't have been the best thing to drink (both of us were dehydrated and also needed to survive the drive back to Geneva). It was weird to hear German as opposed to French as that has been what I was hearing all this time. Also on the drive up the exits started saying Ausfahrt and of course I chuckled. Overall the place was great. The prices were super reasonable and the food hit the spot. If you like beer, potatoes, and cheese, you're at the right place and also in the heart of Bern!

First time having a rosti, both of us really enjoyed ours. It is in a tourist spot in the capitol, of course it's going to be expensive, so just expect it. Good food, good service.

Amazing dinner!!! A must go to in Bern, Le Mazot.

The service was great but the food left something to be desired. Everything was just...mediocre.

The 'Rosti' is incredible. Very authentic to the area. It's a little warm inside due to no A/C.

For food, I opted to try the Rosti florentine (rosti with spinach) and the small portion of the raclette.

O.M.G. Brezel König,…read moreduring my recent stay in Bern, I got addicted to your pretzels. Being from NY, I LOVE a good salty street pretzel but these - oh, baby! I recommend the Raclette, which combines two of my favorite things - cheese and carbs. The bread products in Switzerland are off the hook. They have many options but my favorites were the cheese one, the pumpkin seed one (I can't remember or pronounce "pumpkin seed" in German) and the sesam one. No, that's not a typo, in Switzerland there's no "e" at the end of "sesame". They also have ones with salami and sandwiches as well, which we didn't try. The pretzels will cost you between 3.50-4.50 Swiss Francs (around $4.50 USD). Grab your brezel, say, "Merci veil mal!" and enjoy the delicious goodness.

Yelp Review 2026 #139:…read more Brezelkonig is in every major city train station in Switzerland. But the one in Bern has got to be the best location I've been to. Catching a super early morning train means having to grab something that will hold me over until I get breakfast at my next destination. This location is open by 5am and they already have all sorts of options. I've been to a Brezelkonig location that's open early but they only have 3 things ready! I like their jalapeño pretzel, and their croissant with chocolate. It's quite filling. The jalapeño pretzel has some sort of bacon/ ham and the jalapeños were pretty spicy . They have a machine that makes fresh bagels.

The service is friendly and the food is good, and we felt like we got a great deal on lunch (see below). I definitely recommend going up Harder Kulm and stopping here for a bite and a view. Tip: Get the combination tram ticket! The tram alone up Harder Kulm is 30 Euros, and the tram + lunch combo is 36. Otherwise, you'll pay 22.50 for the same lunch if you wait till you get to the top. Be ready though to drop the hefty 28 CHF for a round trip ride up and down the cable car. **if you "like" them in Facebook you get 50% off but you have to PRINT IT OFF! Really? Who the heck is going to do that?! Anyway, other than that annoyance, the cable cars can get tight so give yourself some extra time if you want to sit. We had ice cream at the top. Unbelievable views!! Bring cash for quick drinks at the bar. Credit card accepted at the restaurant. Waitresses were pretty fast. Got a coke and a "mini" 3 scoop ice cream (7.5CHF) regular size was 9.5 CHF. Very tasty but the ice cream isn't that blow your mind to pay that much! I guess you're paying for the view. Seats get taken fast but moved fast for us. We tried to rush back to make a cable car so our time was a bit rushed. I would have liked to spend more relaxation time up there. Wish I could go back and bring my parents!
