There are times in your life where you are treated to a true culinary experience that immerses all you senses into an experience to be remembered. That is la Poada. From the owner's charm and obvious commitment to offering you a unique experience to the way the food is presented, and of course, the food and wine itself, makes this restaurant one of the times to be experienced with family and friends as one for the bucket list.
4 of us were treated to wine that paired exquisitely with the each course of food. We were fortunate enough to tell the owner to just to have his way with us and he completely accepted the task by taking us through a tour of his restaurant which has ALL food prepared in an open oak fireplace, served on hot rock plates. The meats and fish are of the highest grade and required you to slice the lightly seared meats, to be sliced by yourself and then cooked on your own hot rock plates. Each course was served with a different wine grown in the neighborhood and spot on. When the owner came to us and placed bids on each of us with the instruction "do not remove until coffee' we didnt know what to expect. We were then served with the local onion "calcots" dipped in his own special sauce. Awesome! The charm of this tucked away neighborhood bistro is that all courses require you to participate. From peeling the onioins, to grilling your food, to the final event of pouring the local dessert wine from spigots directly into your and your partner's mouths, (thus the bibs). You wont forget this one. The bill, about 120 euros for 4 people including 3 bottles of wine, 5 courses, and 3 wonderful bottles to take home with us. SWEET!!! read more
