La Picara is a tiny restaurant that was always packed when we walked by. A few people were even eating outside on their stoop, with a small bench for maybe two. With reservations a must, six of us finally got to try La Picara. There are a variety of tapas, ponchos and raciones on their menu. We tried a lot of them, and everything was delicious with the possible exception of Sepia a la Plancha, grilled squid which was too tough and chewy. Do NOT neglect to see their "Suggeriments fora de Carta" on a chalkboard. Most every off-the-chart suggestion we tried was exceptional, with my favorite actually being Tomaquets de Temporada amp Burratina í old D'Alfabrega. This was probably the best Burrata and Tomatoes serving I've ever tasted. It must be their spiced basil oil. The other standout special was a delicious Pintxo de Foie a la Plantxa, luxurious grilled foie gras skewer. A couple of drag queens came in promoting their show. They were a hoot at our table. We did not have a reservation, but we were seated at the bar promptly. The food was amazing. The owner explained specials and many items on the menu so we were well informed. I highly recommend this place. Do get a reservation because there was a long line when we left. read more

What a uniquely memorable dining experience! I can only recall a handful of restaurants that have made me feel as welcome and special as La Picara. The food quality and presentation are topnotch. The thoughtful and gracious service is second to none. I felt as if I was a new friend who had been warmly invited to share my hosts delicious food, of which they are justifiably proud. I had read good reviews of Picara and my family rented an apartment on Carrer San Pedro. Every time we walked by it was crowded. There were 5 of us so we never went in (not realizing that we could have just walked in and made a reservation for later or another night.) Our last day in Sitges, we gave it a try. Not enough tables for 5 but we were invited to sit at the bar. Paola greeted us and we asked for "the full tapas experience." She walked us through the concept and explained each dish with pride of ownership. Come to find out that she owns La Picara with her wife, Conchi. After we had dug into the delicious food, she stopped to talk more with us and told us how they have been encouraged to expand but don't want to sacrifice quality over quantity (that's my translation and music to my ears from a restaurant owner.) She said that making meals fresh every day was of utmost importance to them. Everything is homemade. They have a non tapas menu too that looked great from views of all the full tables. More tapas came from the back as we were eating and I showed, with pride, my 8 toothpicks. Paola is a great ambassador for her restaurant and made us Bostonians feel welcome in Sitges. I wish I could go there every week. Delicious!!! Small place like most of the tapas places. They have a nice assortment of flavors. Super friendly service. Located in the center in one of the side streets. My preferred tapa was the duck leaver filet with caramel. Super good Not expensive even if on average a bit more pricey than other places but totally worth it. Family run. read more

Having read the reviews that this could be a difficult place to get into, and since I was visiting on a Saturday night, I got there within minutes of their evening opening and was the third person to sit at the bar. Within 30 minutes, it was packed. I started with pinxos displayed at the bar, specifically a piece of cod on bread and a mini chicken kabob. Then I ordered tapas: peppers with salt, a ham croquette, and fried goat cheese. I finished with figs in an orange liqueur reduction. Total was around $30, with 2 glasses of wine. We loved our dinner and evening here, just last night. The service is warm and friendly, the menu is diverse enough for our pescatarian and carnivore preferences and food was absolutely delicious and delightful. We loved the crusted and fried chèvre with tomato chutney, pulpo and broad beans (really!) and the iberico foie. There were about 20 people waiting outside while we enjoyed our tapas, but we never felt rushed. We've tried, but can't decide specifically which meal was the best during our three weeks in Spain, but this was definitely in our top three. read more

Great eating experience! Ambience is laid back and nice, without being formal. Staff (particularly one waitress) is fun and helpful during the ordering process. Food is tapas style and somewhat traditional, but with an updated take. You can "order" on your own by taking from a glass case of fresh tapas (all delicious) or with the wait-staff from the full menu of items made-to-order. First - La Picara gets 4 stars just because Paola replied to my email that I sent her a week before traveling to Spain requesting a reservation. I followed up my email request with a change reservation time email request and she responded to that also and basically said they really could not change my time because the whole place was reserved for a private party the night of my request.....but she said to come anyway and she would figure something out. So we arrived and she let us sit at the bar and eat. The food was excellent. Great tapas and wine. Really great experience. Highly recommend going there, meeting Paola and getting a real tapas experience while in Sitges. read more
