Amazing find. On a quiet street in Valls, this restaurant is the real deal. Busy on a quiet afternoon and filled with happy diners. We were lucky to get a table late in the afternoon without a booking. They were gracious and confident in their skills and abilities. We came for the famous Calçotada, a seasonal dish of fresh spring onions, akin to leeks in look, but much more subtle in flavor. They come with a special slightly spicy sauce, hot on a terracotta roof tile...very unpretentious and useful for cradling the grilled delight. The flavor was subtle, charred, smoky and slightly sweet depending on your skills at peeling the carmelized exterior.
This was followed by an equally expertly grilled plate of pork chop, potato, white beans, the local sausage of buttifaro and artichoke.
The staff was friendly, happy and attentive. We felt like regulars and the actual regulars, older couples and young families created a warm experience.
Highly recommended. read more
