What an exceptional place, had dinner here recently while in town on holiday. This tiny off the beaten path bistro is totally worth the effort, reservations highly recommended. Short evening hours and limited seating, Lola fills quickly.
The interior is dark and a modern feel once in inside, while arriving there is a step back in time. You must walk in to access this cool eatery and close parking is a premium if not at all.
We had reservations at 20:30 and it opens at 20:00 the place was almost full on our arrival. Our host was expecting us and called me by name upon entering. We sat a a neat little two top up by the door, from this vantage point it allowed me to take in the whole experience that is Lola Bistro.
A concise menu, beautifully executed from the small kitchen and single chef. We started with the Russian salad and a croquette with black truffle, both were excellent, and each unique in presentation and flavor complexity.
Next we opted to sample gheir locally sourced, cheeses plate, and assortment of five delicious samples along with a divine tomato jelly and black olive marinade. Each was absolutely wonderful, fresh and full flavored, and a great variation of tastes and textures, a great choice.
Then we went for the Sorel sausage Cannelloni, a house made pasta filled with a delicious meat filling and an absolutely spectacular sauce. Again beautifully presented and it was a great finish to our savory meal.
Our host recommended the Almond cake as a sweet finish an it was on point, creamy and a very light almond flavor with just a hint of sweet, it was a perfect ending to our evening. This is true slow food, leisurely dining at its finest.
4.5 Stars rounded up for our gracious host and staff. Well worth the effort and highly recommended.
