This is for my American people since Europe is all about Trip Advisor and Google. I think this place is popular for smørrebrød. I just asked what was popular and it was the beef smørrebrød. It's basically a raw beef patty that's seared on both sides on a slice of toast with some sides to eat it with. Also got the schnaps and a beer. I'm not sure I quite get what I'm supposed to be tasting here, but maybe it's because it's too traditional and there was a tourism to culture appeal? The meal was about a 3-4/10 and it was pricey as well. I would go to try it once because it's very traditional, but I've had better foods in general.

Came here on our last night in Copenhagen and had about $70 worth of DKK to spend. We ordered pickled herring as an appetizer, and then liver pate, pan fried veal liver, roast beef with fried egg, and Danish meatball open-faced sandwiches. I used to think that open-faced sandwiches would be light, but all of these options were super filling (granted, they were very meat heavy). It's a very traditional Danish cuisine restaurant, and all of our expectations were met. I was very happily full after our meal, which couldn't be said for some other places we'd been to.

Warm and kind service. A Danish gentleman who we sat next to told us that we were in a very traditional Danish restaurant and that they were very good. The food really was great. 2 dishes is recommended per person so I ordered 3 for my daughter and myself. We could only finish 1/2 our food because the portions are so generous. A hungrier person could have finished it all.

Ahh this was such a wonderful experience. Upscale. White table cloths and wait staff dressed in fine cloths. They make their own schnapps and you have to try it. They'd just finished a strawberry batch when I came in and I am so happy I opted for the "heavier" pour because I was practically licking the glass when I finished it. Fresh strawberry taste, no nasty artificial strawberry flavoring. I had the Danish meatball smørrebrød. They make their own rye bread that's hearty and filled with tasty seeds and grains. The Swedish meatballs paired perfectly with the pickled cabbage and pickles. Such a wonderful tangy and savory combination--you have to try it. I watched others get the more classic herring dishes which also looked great and people seemed to enjoy. You may have to make a reservation as they seemed to be in high demand. Highly recommended.

This place was recommended by more than one person to me for authentic, traditional Danish smørrebrød. It's a sit-down place you can relax and enjoy. Good food and dessert. I wouldn't say top-notch. Service was sufficient, not the best... I suppose the waitress was busy with other customers given that it's the holiday time. Me, a single customer, was kind of overlooked... :-) Yes, you can find probably traditional smørrebrød elsewhere and better values, but I still like to sit down with wonderful ambiance. All in all, it's a good experience, not the best experience.

Look no further for a traditional danish lunch. I've eaten here in August which consisted of sild (herring) and cod. All of which was fresh and came in huge portions. I just finished a meal here with 7 of my family members for a julebord, or Christmas Menu which consisted of tasting traditional Danish Christmas food for roughly 3 hours. Service is always prompt and friendly and can accommodate English speakers. If you're in CPH and want authentic danish lunch, skip the tourist traps of Nyhavn & make a reservation here.

One street off from the famous Stroget shopping street, this restaurant gave a strong traditional vibe. It was surprisingly spacious inside the restaurant and it was packed for lunch on Easter Day. We picked the perfect time to visit! I'm not a huge fan of herring but the way they prepared it at this restaurant got rid of all the unpleasant scents of herring. I could barely tell I was eating herring. If you don't like herring but still want to try this scandinavian tradition, this is your place to be. The traditional danish meatballs tasted just as I expected, perfectly seasoned and not dry. I don't think the food here gave me the wow factor but it is such a cozy family style restaurant to have a hearty traditional danish meal that just warms your soul.

I went here today for the traditional Danish Christmas feast. This review is only for the Christmas feast. The restaurant was warm, so layers are a good idea! My group was there for a little over two hours and we joked about needing a trolley to get back to our hotel. This may be the most food I've ever been served at a restaurant. Portions are very generous! There was herring three ways, pan fried plaice, two kinds of salmon, braised duck, liver pâté, pork two ways, two kinds of cheese with compote, and rice pudding. Are you full from just reading? There was a fun surprise with the rice pudding. Beer, wine, and aquavit are available. The service is friendly and prompt. For all the food you get, the feast is an excellent deal. If you want to go to the Christmas feast, make reservations. It was a full house when we were there.

Was led to Restaurant Kronborg by way of a yelp elite event and have never been so delightfully, overly satisfied by a smørrebrød lunch before in my life. Kronborg is overflowing with the hygge, has excellent quality food, AMAZING dessert, and the waitstaff know what good service means (if you've ever lived and dined anywhere outside of Denmark, you know what I'm talking about here). A fantastic place to learn about how to build your smørrebrød the Danish way, so while I'd obviously love to keep this place hidden for the locals, I think it's a great place to take your visiting friends and family, too.

Too expensive. I got a smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, which cost 120 kr. The texture of the eggs seemed a bit too mushy and off in my opinion. I was also surprised that I was charged 36 kr extra for water, even though I requested tap water.

Filet de Bœuf with Purée de Pommes de Terre: This hit the spot. Presentation was simple yet amazing. Piped potato purée that's been baked/ torched for texture and color. In the middle it beef that was cooked perfectly (so it was tender, juicy and locked in its natural flavor), and slices of butter. 5/5 Service was great and attentive. Located near old town Christiana, two Michelin star restaurant Kadeau Copenhagen is an offshoot of an original location in Bornholm. Much of the food and produce for this menu still comes from Bornholm, grounding the New Nordic, seafood-focused menu in a sense of place. I typically prefer an evening reservation, but lunch is what fit into my schedule on this day and I can't imagine a more perfect timing to see the ethereal, artistic dining room in the natural sunlight. The dining room reminded me a bit of being inside Musée de l'Orangerie's Waterlilies exhibit: it's a truly meditative setup. The service from start to finish is truly unreal, and rivals three star restaurants I have been to. Every small touch is made for you to enjoy your experience. Shout out to one of the chefs who tipped off the other restaurant I was dining at on the same day, who greeted me and asked me about my experience at Kadeau when I arrived there. I came for the start of Growing Season in May 2025. For this meal, I chose the non-alcoholic pairing, which I could not possibly recommend enough. It was hands down, the most perfect flavor pairing for the food I have ever had and each new drink was more inventive and fun than the last. The sourcing from Bornholm really played well here, as a lot of similar ingredients from a dish became part of the drink (lot of plum notes when I went). I think my favorites were the Japanese Quince, Hemp, and Honey (which had just a light effervescence) or the Apple and Unfiltered Bee Pollen drink. But honestly, I would go and do this meal all over again for the unreal drink pairing alone. I do a lot of fine dining and always enjoy my meals, but Kadeau was one of the first meals where I felt like I did not have a single bad or even middling bite out of the 15 courses. I have dietary restrictions (no red meat), but few dishes really required substitution. Each new dish was light, flavorful, nuanced, and so so delicious. The shrimps tart with quince and ants was a bit more adventurous than what I normally go for, but ended up being one of my favorite bites. The hot and cold smoked salmon was a dish I'll remember forever and I loved hearing that the chef moved from Las Vegas to Copenhagen just to learn how to make that dish. The plum "soft serve" with plum oil, vinegar, schnapps/ caramel, was such a great example of how inventive they could be with truly all of the elements that build flavor. It was a once in a lifetime meal. This is certainly an expensive meal, but in a city with a lot of tasty meals to choose from, Kadeau is one to truly remember.

The chefs all seemed so calm & professional, and the servers were outstanding. The set menu was incredible, and my husband did the wine pairing, which he really enjoyed. A lot of spectacular seafood. Stunning presentations and incredible attention to detail. Besides the food being unbelievable, it was such a fun experience!! We had a lot of questions, and our servers couldn't have been nicer! Ordered "Six Favorites" and "Fast Four" courses. The staff helpfully suggested that they could replace lamb with monk fish for one of the courses on the "Fast Four" for my spouse. The starter stole the show: Zander with aromatic blackcurrant wood oil, finger lime, kohlrabi infused in dashi, bright citrus herbs and topped with sauce of fresh apple, celery, dashi. An amazing dish, unlike anything we've tasted: light, refreshing, clean-tasting, illuminated by aroma of blackcurrant wood oil and citric accents. A delight for the taste buds. Homemade sourdough bread (brushed with smoked bone marrow) was very tasty but seemed slightly burnt on top and quite salty. We enjoyed the texture contrast of the puffed carrot skin pre-starter snack: this contains carrot with elderflower purée, topped with fermented carrot, pickled thyme gel and roasted hazelnuts. The combination was unique and complimentary. Dessert was sea buckthorn sorbet, mousse with parsley crumble: well conceived, exquisitely composed. The sorbet was unbelievably smooth absent of any trace of iciness. ****.5
