Overall, I've been fairly happy with RD. They have what I need most the time. I usually have to ask for my formal pepperoni off the top shelf because it's rarely stocked down low. Everything else, I usually find just fine. I've had rude associates and very nice ones. I find their checkout process problematic. The majority of the time I wait is because the cashier is waiting on the manager to come check off all the stuff. This makes things very slow. Love this store! A friend who used to run a pizza on wheels for events told me about this store. I love doing something unique with the kids when we have large gatherings with friends. Usually we make a craft or build your own sundaes with lots of toppers. I had another friend of mine take me here who has a membership as well. Premade pizza dough, fresh mozzarella and canned sauce was my go to per recommendation. This time the kids made their own pizzas. They created their own masterpieces. With thr dough, sauce, cheese and other topping. We then baked them. The extra special yummy ingredients we so good and everyone thought they were delicious. Our girls made their pizzas for papa and we got picked theirs up from their favorite allergy friendly pizzeria. Large store. The employees were very friendly. Ok so its not on par with US FOODS, since they require a membership with an application process, its not for general public. However there are a few things here that you will not find there. Specific items are an incredible selection of edible flowers: boxed price $9.99, ample bags of fresh herbs from $5-$10. Also They have huge bags of callebaut chocolate bars, chocolate chips, hot chocolate in white, milk chocolate and dark- well priced. Their meats and produce are sporadic but well priced. Seafood on par with most restaurant supply stores. You will need to show liquor license to purchase, yet Sam's and Costco will be better for some key items. Overall a good resource, yet always good to shop around. read more

I'm surprised their rating is as low as it is. People seem to complain about the service. First, I don't expect retail level service at a wholesale place. Second, every time I have asked for help from one of the forklift guys, they have always been very nice and helpful. The other day they spent several minutes and called up two employees to make sure that I found the goat cheese I was looking for. Sometimes checkout seems a bit slow but to be fair people are not buying a few groceries at a time; they are buying bulk items at wholesale. With that in mind I think they do a great job. Checkout people seem well trained and push people through pretty quickly. The prices on many things are really good. For example I get 50 pounds of rice for about $18. The only thing I won't buy here is chicken because it is the same garbage that everyone else has which I am not fond of. But I don't think most people notice or care about the chicken quality (based on what people happily pay for and eat at restaurants). And it isn't any worse than the chicken at most super markets. I'm just picky about my chicken! I also don't get Thai basil here because when they have it it is in too big a pack for me. Lettuce is same price as super market when buying individual heads which is a bummer. The selection is fantastic. The la canasta flour tortillas are fantastic. The goat cheese is really good and that is hard to find. Also good prices and great selection on equipment and small wares. All in all, I don't know what I'd do without this place and I think nearly every small restaurant in town shops here, even after they leave a bad review :) Five stars because, even though not perfect, this is easily the best game in town for bulk wholesale restaurant food and supplies. I have been an avid costomer here for years. I live very far away from one of these. Being as I live so far away with there super secret prices, it makes it hard to shop here. I called and asked for some prices so I could plan a trip to come give them money, and they would not give me any prices. They have no online pressance to be able to look at their items. This was very inconsiderate for hw much I spend there. Also a lot of their items are geniric and unheard of brands. Unless you buy a 40lb box of something to try it, you never realy know what the quality is or what it taste like. There is no way to sample or try anything. With my distance and being unable to return things, I have always shyed away from buying some things because of this. They are a big store with lots of great prices on things. They do not stock their shelves the line was 45 carts deep and 5 lines were not open the managers were rude and unresponsive People are trying to run their businesses and this place makes it virtually impossible to do that. I have been going here for years for cases of chicken. About 15% of the time the chicken is not fresh, has an unfresh odor and ice crystals telling me that it defrosted and refrozen. Usually it's OK but when you're processing 100 pound batches and renting a commissary kitchen, you can't simply stop bring it back. Last time it was worse than usual, a whole batch of raw ground chicken spoiled very quickly from bad handling before I got it. I've made thousands of pounds of Raw Cat Food, so don't try to blame me because I make it the same every time for many years. I need a more reliable and safer source of product. FYI, this place is membership only as I was so rudely told upon entering the store. I have driven past this store numerous times and today my husband and I attempted to check it out. We walked in and behind me I hear the yells of "hey, hey!" I turn around and the girl at the counter asks "do you have a membership?" "No, I didn't know I needed one." I replied. The place is amazing and the prices are often better then major restaurant suppliers. They sell everything from whole goats to individual Sweet and Low packs. FYI, I don't serve goat at my place! Had Maggie been allowed to enter she would seen a galaxy of stuff for for restaurants all in huge quantities. This place makes Costco look like Circle K. They have jackets on one end near the back entrance. Did I mention WHOLE GOATS? They are located in a bin. How often do you see a bin of whole goats? They have a vast selection of food containers, pizza boxes, drink cups, etc. In 500/1000 qty case sizes. If you own an Italian restaurant or use LOTS of canned tomato sauce or paste, this place has a HUGE selection of that! Plus, lots of dried pasta in every imaginable shape too! Hello, Thrifty ice cream!!! Yes, it's here! Five gallon containers! And they even have that cylinder shaped scooper too, because that always makes ice cream taste better! I want to like it here but the front check out staff is so apathetic that I question the store's professionalism. I was one of two people in five minutes waving my arms and trying to get the attention of staff who couldn't care less. I found a box of guacamole left out unrefrigerated and had to make a bit of a scene to get someone to take it. I have no idea if she returned it to the chiller and if it is now a safety issue. Another woman, much older. was trying to get ice to pack around her purchases and the ice was stuck together. The same employee rolled her eyes when she was told about it. She opened another ice chest and gestured for the old woman to dig through it for ice. Being professional doesn't come naturally like breathing. This is a real "cash n carry" restaurant supply. It's no secret that this is a membership only place. And not like Costco- you actually have to provide specific business license/tax info to obtain a membership, which is free. Pricing is based upon market pricing, but it's lower than anything you'll find at a regular grocery or Sams Club or Costco- this is where restaurant owners go to get their stock. Not sure why all the negative reviews. This place is great. I have never had a bad experience at this place. Been going here for a couple of years to get supplies for our Vegan Jerky business. Prices are great, customer service is top notch. Many times I have stopped a guy or gal that was obviously very busy doing their job, and they always stopped with a smile to lend me a hand looking for something in the back, or getting a fork lift to get a pallet of something from the top shelf if they were out on the bottom shelf. We are a small family owned restaurant and We frequent this location about once per week. The staffs are very friendly and helpful, like they will put aside their current tasks to help you to find certain items. Many times when there is a longer line at the register the manager is aware soon enough to open another line to ease the traffic. They are doing a great job the clear all the heavy shopping trolleys in the parking lot to make sure everyone have the closest parking space. The only thing is sometimes they run out of some regular items so the stock is not very consistence, but take into account they cater to many different cuisines that's understandable. read more
