Finally secured a membership and I am loving this place. The employees are so nice and are eager to assist. They have almost anything you would need to cater, run a restaurant, or food truck. Equipment, aprons, industrial size cleaners or may, fresh fish, frozen chicken, and even edible flowers! Their fresh herbs (oregano, mint, rosemary, etc.) are so cheap!!! A huge bag of dill was ~$7. A small sample of it is a few dollars at the local grocery stores. My only complaint is that they had an advertised special and my wife and I both tried separate times and the item did not ring up on sale. Wow. Terrible customer service. Rude employees!! I had 5 items!!! 5! I waited in line for roughly 10 minutes to be told when it's my turn that the register is now closed. Use one of the other two. Well those two lines had 5-6 people each with carts loaded!! Now I'm in line behind everyone that was still shopping when I was in line. No Karen by any means but seriously?? That was a terrible way to treat your customers. Mind you I spend $3,000 here yesterday and was just getting the items I forgot. So I was stuck at discount tire with a three hour wait time. I decided to walk over here to kill time. I saw the sign stating "not open to the public" but I also saw people just walking in scanning a card on their own. I walked in and there was no one to greet me or stop me. So I proceeded inside and went into the produce section which was just okay. I was surprised with the options of frozen food. Other items such as bottle water, sodas, and condiments didn't really show a price bargain. I did notice they had a nice selection of economy size seasoning. Then of course they had restaurant items such as containers, kitchen equipment. I was tempted to try to buy something but didn't want to push my luck as I'm not even a member. I did ask a girl working in the front how do I sign up and she responded with "the card machine broken, you gotta come back". With that being said I said okay and walked out. read more

Only reason why we come here bc some of the items we use to buy were discontinued from Costco. Majority of the items were same prices as costco. Think the seafood and beef are better deal. But notice the drinks and other items were more expensive (e.g. gatorade, coke, vitamin water, Powerade, etc.) Have to come early in morning for fresh seafood before all business buy it. read more

Variety of items for wholesale price, been coming here as a member for over 4 years. Mamy, amy, whoever at the front desk was horrible with customer service. I let her know that i made a mistake and needed to exchange an item, she still proceeded to work on her papers outside as i was waiting beside her. I am a business owner and i got places to be. She could have stopped what she was doing to provide service at her customer service work area but instead chose herself over the customer. That needs work. read more

Never had any issue at this location.However today when I went there with my baby,I need to get goat cube meat from a freezer section and could not take my baby in.I saw a guy working with frozen food and asked him if he could help me bring goat meat which is 10 feet away from soda exit section from freezer.He said other person on the entry to produce section will help me.And another guy called Ellias was called out and he said no can't help you at all,not my problem and can't shop for you.I even said I can not take baby in their cause it's very cold and I said the location where the goat meat is but he acted like he don't know where it is ,even though he work there in the freezer section.And also he said he is busy and don't have time for this.Such a rude emplyee at restaurant depot..But there were also some nicest people who understand my situation and help me get the product I need,not only that they brought it to the register cause they saw I had a baby in the stroller.Thank you to those kind people at restaurant depot.To Ellis,friend you work there,if you can and if it doesn't hurt you then you can help them instead of ignoring shopper problem.Thanks you to the lady checking receipt at the exit. read more

I purchased a whole lamb from restaurant depot at a the Houston Location on 20th street and Ella. I cooked half of the lamb for 7 hours and it was like rubber, thus I had to dispose it in the trash. I attended to return the other half to the store and requested a refund for it, unfortunately the manager on duty ( Robert) was very unprofessional and questioned my integrity and asked me if I purchased the meat from another store and was making an attempt to return it to them. I found their customer service below average and very unprofessional. I will call the corporate office on Monday to follow up on it. read more

I think they try but they are failing miserably. The employees look and act miserable and the new manager is never ever around. The lines are so long it takes almost an hour to get out of the store- even if you have one item. I have an alternative to using them- it's more expensive but my time is worth more than waiting in line like this at any given time. read more

Service is amazing!!!! I had an item that needed to be returned and the policy is definitely on the receipt but the General Manager Eric and the Front Manager Hazel allowed me to exchange and I ended up spending more once the return was made. I was overwhelmed and so pleasantly surprised by that gesture and also the professionalism and love from this place! I don't think I will get that from other restaurant suppliers. read more

I am a restaurant depot once a week and it makes me quite sad seeing a lot of restaurant owners buying pre-prepared frozen foods. It makes me regret spending money on eating out if a lot of places are not making their food fresh. The prices are okay, a little on the high end and I have been over charged numerous of times. Yet, my mother and I still considers this establishment as our go to place for the things we need! I love going to through the freezer on a hot summer day and I love that the staff always helps me with finding things! The cashiers come and go and they are not the friendliest but I do recommend giving this place a try! read more

I've had my debit/credit card information "compromised" twice here, which has resulted in canceled cards, new ones issued and all the inconvenience of switching everything over to a new card. Wait, it gets better...... last time I was there, my truck was broken into. The idiots got $7 and a pair of prescription glasses! After speaking with the store manager regarding the break in, he said they have had an ongoing HUGE problem with this and even when they had a hired HPD on site with his squad car IN THE PARKING LOT, the break in's happened right in front of him!! So here's my advice (and it's extremely annoying advice): 1) pay with cash 2) go there with someone else who can stay in the car and wait for you Sigh, I really wish I didn't have to shop here. :( The only reason they deserve 2 stars is because they do have good prices on the things I need there, and it's stuff I cannot get elsewhere locally. Came here recently to grab stuff for the restaurant I work at. This place is NOT open to the public so you'll have to get a membership and prove you're owner of a restaurant or something along the lines of that. It looks like a deserted warehouse; pretty dusty with a bunch of random items strewn throughout each aisle going from drink mixes, to oils, and anything else you can think of. To the right of the entrance is the fridge section and this is where my major problem occurred. I'm looking for English cucumbers and pancetta. I find the cucumbers with the other miscellaneous produce items; but I roam the aisles lost and confused without anyone even asking me for help. I finally find the meat section and I can't find the dang cured meats. I finally wonder around what feels like ages (probably only a couple of minutes) and find a guy. I ask him if he knew where the pancetta was and the dude has the audacity to ask me to speak English. Excuse. Me?! What in the hell do you mean ," Can I speak English??" After a couple of moments of recognition he finally understood that I wasn't speaking a different language. Ugh. This was so embarrassing and terrible st the same time. I don't think I'll ever come back here unless I'm forced to. The only reason why it's a 2 star is cause the cashier was super nice and friendly and made it somewhat enjoyable. read more

Great service. Always friendly. Sometimes the lines are long, but thats usually due to other restaurants purchasing massive amounts... opening a register of 10 items or less when things get backed up/busy for customers only needing a few things makes sense and speeds up the checkout for everyone. Pricing on many items is excellent although so-so on others, but that's to be expected anywhere. They get a ton of my business compared to what I give my distributor... if you own a business and haven't checked them out I guarantee you're wasting $$ somewhere. read more

This was my first time here. On a Sunday this place is packed. Staff is very friendly and they have everything pretty organized.

Service here sucks. Line is always long and the workers are rude as hell. They don't have a system down so be ready to go on a hunt for your supplies. 9/22/17...check the stuff you buy here. I called twice and talked to a manager in person at both Houston locations trying to get the Fritos Corn Chips in the 2 ounce bag (vending machine size) since they do not carry it and neither does Sam's. The managers acted both on the phone and in person like they didn't have time to help me but one finally promised to check to see if they could get the Fritos in the 2 ounce size and call me back but he never did so I called again and they placed me on hold and never came back so after 20 minutes I hung up so I finally gave up asking. They only carry Fritos in the 1 ounce bag which is ridiculous who sells those tiny bags anyway? I did not appreciate the managements lack of interest in helping meet my needs. read more

I shop here about once a week. They have a huge selection of items, but their pricing is pretty close to Sam's/Costco. The biggest downfall to RD is the checkout. There is always a huge line with only a few cashiers. This is the major reason that I don't enjoy going here more. read more

I go here rarely on occasion for items I can't find at SAms/costco they always have the items I need unlike the other two which tend to run out and they go out of their way to find it for you I regularly shop at costco so that is why I rarely visit here but for many of my restaurant buddies that go here its their go to place. This store on 20th street is way better than the store on Bissonnet. I am continuely frustrated that you cannot depend on either to keep the shelves stocked. Sometimes the customer service is ok, often it is not good. I shop there every week due to lack of an alternative. Worst run company ever. Called all stores and was on hold for over an hour and hung up on twice. My login information is apparently incorrect and I have been locked out of my account for weeks and tried to reset my password tens of times and no link has been sent though they said it would. I tried to contact corporate and they didn't answer either. I then tried to fill out the online contact form and it wouldn't submit "invalid entry". I am here once a week, sometimes twice depending on how busy we are that week. Because of the close proximity, it is very very convenient for me. I have gotten to know a lot of the staff by name Will, Dennis, Meghan, Ms. Kiesha, Hazle, Brandy, Joel, Crystal and more, and this seemed to help in getting good service. Every time I need something, someone is always there to get it for me. I rarely have a bad experience, however, I would have given this place 5 stars, but they seem to rotate their cashiers pretty frequently. This slows me down sometimes, having said that, I am in the restaurant industry, so I understand what happens when you are down a cashier, waiter, or packer! I don't like the fork lifts zipping back and forth, however, I understand that is needed as they deal in bulk and in order to keep things stock, the forklifts are a necessary evil. They have 4 stars for competitive pricing, good service, close proximity, and dependability. What I really like is when they run out of products, they can tell you when the next shipment will come in. read more

Restaurant Depot has the worse workers. They have horrible attitude and they are racist. I went there to buy some lamb leg meat because it was on sale for $4.44 / LB and if you buy 121 LBs or more, you can get it for even cheaper at $4.29 / Lb so then I got 25 cases and when the worker there got me the 25 cases, he told me that if I were to get 30 cases, I can have it for $4.00/ Lb, but he wasn't 100% sure, so he had to call his manager and ask. Then when his stupid meat department manager came out he was like "oh I'm not going to sell it to you", and then I was like what is your reason not to sell it? Then he was like because you only buy meat, so I'm not going to sell it to you, and then I was like well you said yes at first then he was like okay fine, i will sell it to you, but you'll have to pay $4.69 / LB, and so i was like man i don't need to talk to you, Call the manager, but then, when he called the manager, he didn't give me a chance to talk to the manager and took him into a room, then when they were there for a while and came out, the general manager also said he wasn't going to sell it to me. Therefore, after this case, I have decided that Restaurant Depot must be raciest or that they don't know what they are doing. read more
