I hired Republic West to build a second floor deck off the master bedroom. The owner, Van, and project manager, Dakota, were superb. The finished result is beautiful. The workers at RW and their subcontractors- electric, steel, landscapers, carpenters, etc., are craftsmen. their work is excellent. read more

Things I regret about working with RW: Not researching a company that was purchased by a person with no construction experience, but who promised the best quality workmanship, reasonable cost, and clear communication. Not recognizing a huge red flag when being asked for a large advance payment outside the contracted payment schedule before the work was completed. Not paying more attention at the showroom, which should have been a giveaway--basic design, broken cabinets, sloppy paint lines, and no real sense of quality or style. Not pivoting as different subcontractors rotated through, many barely showing up, some openly complaining about their employer, and when communication, planning, and attention to detail became nearly nonexistent. Not writing a review sooner when at the end there was no final walk through, thank you, or handshake, likely because my expensive remodel still needs a qualified contractor to fix. The photos don't lie, the quality is bad, but more importantly, so was the experience. read more

We wanted a casita as sort of like an in-law suite for my parents, custom home gym and also a guesthouse...an all-in-one lol. We are in Paradise Valley and there are a ton of casita builders in Paradise Valley. From the start, Van the owner came out to do our quote and in the end the cost was still within the range we agreed on. I really appreciated that. I'm happy we went with actual home renovation experts instead of just saving money with a small team. (Which we did consider as some of our friends did) We had a dedicated project manager named Dakota the whole way thru which was great for any questions for help or updates along the way instead of asking van for questions or calling customer service all of the time. I put some photos of some 3d renderings they showed me that I used as inspo for our casita. They will use your exact home and layout too so there are no mistakes with measuring colors or anything. I want to mention because this was important to me: you can tell they're true professionals not just hired from Facebook... they always wore matching shirts, never reeked of cigarettes or alcohol, and never left a huge mess behind. It's the little things like that that were super important to me. Not that all do but I do know it happens and it wasn't our experience Not gonna lie... it did take a bit longer than expected. Partly cuz I changed my mind on a few things mid-way (oops) and also we had a couple storms that slowed things down. But the team handled it all really well and kept us updated so nothing ever felt like a surprise. Me and my husband knew WAY ahead of time if things were going to be held up. During the design phase we met with Kathy their designer and got some 3D renderings which helped us picture it way better. The final plan had a full kitchen, laundry, bedroom, bathroom... all finished with high-end materials and serious attention to detail. Kathy knew what was in stock and was helpful if I wasn't sure which to choose but for the most part I chose what I wanted. The casita feels like it was always meant to be part of our home. This was more than just a custom home addition... it is a piece of our home that blends right into our house which feels amazing. My parents and guests love it and we couldn't ask for anything more. This could have been so much more stressful than it was. If you're thinking about a remodel in Paradise Valley or anywhere nearby... I will always recommend Republic West Remodeling. Seriously some of the best high end remodeling experts in Paradise Valley. read more

Two years ago Republic West did a total renovation after a flood in our home. They were amazing with that renovation. Recently we noticed a small crack in one of our countertops. We call Republic West and without hesitation they came to our house and replace that quartz countertop. Their attention to detail was tops. I highly recommend Republic West. read more

This is an update to a previous review now that job is complete. Republic West did a fantastic job on my kitchen remodel and we are very satisfied and can recommend them highly. Kevin was the project manager who ensured all orders were correct and scheduled the labor. He was onsite frequently and communicated promptly. It was torn down to the studs and rebuilt from drywall; to cabinets; to plumbing; to electrical; to tiling and everything was done on time as promised. Robert and Steve were the main contractors and I cannot say enough about their skills, but more importantly their attitude to do as good as job as they would do in their on house. "Cant" was not in the vocabulary. All the others were top notch. Chad the electrician; Tommy the tiler; Carlos for quartz. They all bought together Kathy's design beautifully. They were professional and delivered as promised. Cleaned up every day and removed trash. I highly recommend you use them. Maybe a touch more expensive, but you get what you pay for. Ask Van for my number and I would be happy to discuss. I assure you they are 5* and not as reported in Yelp. read more

I used Republic West to do a substantial remodel of my condominium unit. They were great at pre-planning and design and made several useful suggestions at the beginning and during the renovations. They were very good at communication throughout and the results were excellent and they stayed within budget and timeline. read more

After reading reviews on Yelp we picked Republic West to do our kitchen remodel. Since we hired them, reviews have dropped significantly. We experienced the beginning of our project with previous ownership and the back end of our project under the new owner Van. The sales and design experience with republic west was pleasant and easy. Jackie was knowledgeable about finishes, cabinetry, and prices for all aspects so there were no surprises when she came back with our final design. Our original project manager ( who no longer works with the company) is what made our experience HORRIBLE. He was unresponsive, would give short, uninformative responses when asked about our project, and would send workers to our home randomly without first checking if we would be home to let them in. A calendar was created at the beginning of our project that was never followed. Workers came to our home about every 10-15 days to do small bits at a time. After several phone calls to the owner about how unsatisfied we were with the project manager, we were finally assigned a new one who made our experience much more enjoyable. John is kind, responsive, and always kept us in the loop with a timeline and when contractors were coming to our home. The subcontractors that republic west uses are amazing. Our cabinets, tile, countertops, and appliances were all done/installed by professionals who did beautiful work. Our project began at the end of June 2022 and just finished the first week of February 2023. Much longer than originally scheduled and promised. We went with who we thought was a more upscale and professional company that would handle our biggest remodel project in a timely and professional manner and that is not the experience we had. It seems like things are turning around under new ownership, but we will not be hiring them again. read more

Don't use this company, unprofessional and they do not care about customer service. I can't go into the details of how bad the team was because it would take to long. I'm a huge researcher before i do a project, but I got bait and switched. I actually hired a different kitchen company, I was told until I was signing paperwork to remodel my kitchen that republic West bought it. Never heard of them and didn't pick them...it was a disaster from day one. I was stuck with the team and people they gave me. It was a disaster from minute one. Avoid them -go somewhere else. The owner may act like they care- trust me -they don't. I'm a professional designer and realtor .... I've worked with many companies. This is the only bad review I've ever written about one. Use them at your own risk. read more

Hiring RRW has been the most regrettable decision I have ever made in my life. I wish I were exaggerating, truly. However, I'm 7 months into a kitchen remodel and every time they show up at my door (which at most is once per month to make bite sized efforts towards MAJOR unresolved issue) I feel sick to my stomach. With every visit the problems just continue to mount. They lack any concern for the final look of the project and pay no attention to quality. There hasn't been one thing done at my house which hasn't needed to be re-done. They are unorganized, unresponsive and unapologetic. They'll leave your home in complete shambles with out cleaning up after themselves. I've had both subcontractors and city officials complain openly about working with them. The only people who follow up with your project would be their billing department, however they to will not aim for professionalism and will send you invoices that double bill you for line items. This company will suck hours and hours of your time and thousands and thousands of dollars. I truly just can't stress it enough do not walk away from this company, RUN! read more

I'm on month 10 of a remodel that was specked to take 6 weeks. Republic West has often been non communicative and has done extremely shoddy work which I have had to fight to get rectified. Horrible company!! I find it interesting all the glowing review. I believe most all glowing reviews are fake. So here is my story. Needed 2 windows replaced. Republic West Remodeling and Republic West Home made a split and Republic West Home is out of business along with the window manufacture located in Prescott. Had a less than desirable sub contractor slam one of the two windows. Could barely open the window and cable broke and cannot open window at all. (Maybe measured incorrectly? I would say yes. So we spend $1800 and much worse off than if we had done nothing. So that "life time guarantee" is no good. So buyer beware. Never, never step foot in their show room, or do business with them. read more

Remodeling our home was a big decision for us and we heard horror stories from our friends. But felt good when we met with The designers to discuss the changes. They came out to our house and took measurements and gave us a price that seemed fair. And the best part after the remodel was complete (besides the quality) was the original price never increased. We were worried about "that was not covered in the contract" and it never happened. Because they did such a good job in the beginning building a price that covered all our needs. Kevin was a great project manager. Any issues (and there were plenty with delays of material or labor) were well communicated and followed by a plan on how to get back on schedule. I highly recommend Republic West. A good honest team. Chris S read more

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Their con man, I mean salesman, will ask you for $5000. up front, to do a design. The design will be vague crap. They designed a bathroom with a door to the toilet that would have hit the toilet if opened. The 30" door had to be replaced by a 24" door when they realized this while trying to install the larger door. Of course, then the frame had to be recut. There was no real planning on where outlets, fixtures, cabinets and many other things should go. They dealt with, redealt with and redealt with these things as they went along because they had no detailed plan. I have used many contractors and remodeled at least 100 apartments that I owned. I also remodeled and flipped more than a dozen houses. I went with this company because I thought it would be less hassle. What a mistake. I could go on for 10 pages of their screw ups, but I'll list a few. We contracted them in May to do 3 bathrooms and four entrance doors. They started work in Sept. assuring us they would be done, at the very latest, two days before Thanksgiving. They finished the following May, ruining our holidays and a planned vacation. They will not put a timeline in their contract, although on their website it states you should have a timeline in the contract. They probably have taken that down by now. They ordered doors which opened in the wrong direction, that had to be reordered. They put in door handles backwards that could be unscrewed from outside the house. They put in a dimmer switch that would burn your hand. It got up to 144 degrees F. I measured it with meat thermometer. They installed a spa tub and had to call the manufacturer to get it to work. They simply did not find 3 out of the four electric plugs that were part of the tub. They just had no clue why it didn't work right till the manufacturer's rep. told them it would be good to plug it in. They state in their contract that there will always be supervisor on the job, instead you get a manager who is supervising 8 or more jobs. You are lucky to see him for 10 minutes twice a week. Weeks would go by with nothing being done. They put light fixtures, wiring and plumbing in the wrong place, often having to redo 2 or 3 times. One of their electricians argued with me about where a light fixture should be. He said he's been doing this for 23 years. I told him if he installed the four-foot-long fixture where he drilled the hole, more than a foot of it will be going through the side wall. He continued to argue with me. I threw him out of my house and told the company he would not be allowed back in. But they have no shortage of incompetent electricians. They wired a GFCI wrong, causing all outlets not to work. The man that installed the shower tile said that the grout did not need to be sealed. It stated on one of the grout bags that he was using that it did need to be sealed. He ripped that statement off all the other bags but forgot one that we happened to see. There were no supply chain issues that delayed anything. Almost all the things needed sat on my back deck and in my garage for months. They will lie to you over and over again. They don't care about your complaints and seldom respond to them. They will double charge you for items. They once asked us if it was okay for an electrician to come on a Saturday because they were behind schedule and then tried to charge us $800 for overtime. They will tell you that with their great buying power you will pay far less for things. Their price for door handles was more than double Home Depot's price for the exact same thing. If I was not there watching them, they would have left large gaps in exterior walls with no insulation We keep finding more things they did wrong. A door handle came off in my hand the other day. I needed to get wood filler to fix the stripped screw holes in the wood to put it back on. There was lots of slipshod work. I could go on and on with many more things they did that only an incompetent, unprofessional, uncaring idiot would do. If you want a long, drawn-out nightmare and you like paying far more than you should and you find it pleasurable to live in dust and dirt for a long period of time then Republic West should be your choice, they are the "Keystone Cops" of the remodeling world. read more

Deceit is the moto of this company - beware. Fromm Stephen to Chris everybody is there to cheat you and your money. Read the contract before signing that they have a deadline spelled out in it. I got cheated for $5000.00, and do not know how many people they have cheated so far. read more

Republic West Remodeling - my new shower - General Contractors Near Me - Tempe, Arizona

RW remodeled our MBR several years ago and we were told that RW would always stand by its design and workmanship. Not so today as our pocket door needs realignment as it no longer closes, even though it stays open 99% of the time since it was installed. It seems the glass door is too heavy for the rail it sits on and is misaligned such that there is now a gap between the top of the door and the bottom of it when it is closed. RW will not realign the door without a "service fee", on top of the ridiculous fee they charged us to remodel the room. Republic West did a major remodel on our Phoenix home back in 2013. The work was great and we had a very good experience. We sold the home in 2019. I received the dreaded IRS letter recently asking me to prove my basis for the house for tax purposes. Given that this was 8 years ago, I was not able to locate my file, so I called Republic West. Steve picked up the phone - I told him what I was looking for. He called me back literally in less than 10 minutes and said he had located my file. He scanned the documents to me and my problem is solved. This was great customer service, especially given the amount of time that has passed since the company did the work. I haven't used them but I sure will if I need someone after experiencing Jennifer's customer service. I had some windows put in by Republic West a few years ago. I needed a few more and googled the name. I came up with the remodeling company. I explained to Jennifer what I was after. She said that she would talk to her designers and see if they could do it. If they couldn't, she was sure they could recommend an honest sub contractor they use. Sure enough, get a call the next day with the name of a company they feel I can trust. How amazing is that? The way the world is going I would've expected a curt " we're not who you're looking for" and a dial tone. Owners.... you've got a gem in Jennifer! I'd suggest you keep her happy! read more

If you want work done on your home and money is no object then this is the place for you. I cannot speak to the quality of the work that they do because it never got that far. I placed a $5000 deposit so they could get started on the design work. I understand that this is a lot of work and they need some sort of certainty that they can recoup some of their expenses. What they came back with was an astronomical bid. I won't get into the whole issue of pricing but here is an example. They had a line item in for repainting the house (all walls, baseboards, doors and ceilings). The amount that they came up with was $7000. Note that this is a 2600 square foot house. After seeing this red flag I met at the house that weekend with 2 painters to get bids for the same work. They came back with bids of $1700 and $2500. In an effort to get some value for the $5000 that I had already committed I told them that I would still hire them to install the folding wall system in the house. They returned with a bid of $34,956. I have also reached out for competing bids. I have only received one back but it came in at $19,554.25. I will be looking elsewhere or I will do the work myself. Do yourself a favor and don't even get started here. I cannot believe that if feels good to be walking away from $5000. read more

We had the best experience with this company. They sent out Reville Shaffer- our consultant, and we gave her our budget and what we wanted to accomplish. She worked closely with us to and brought in a bid that was spot on. Then we worked with the design consultant Kathy, picking out the pieces that would keep us on budget. Our project Forman, Duane, and all his 'guys' were wonderful. We had a glitch with a bathroom leak and they were able to repair it and then complete the replacement of all our flooring, baseboards, moving kitchen cabinets, taking down a pony wall, creating a beautiful peninsula island, taking down our old fireplace and putting up our new beautiful tile... just a wonderful group of people to work with... and we lived in our home during this remodel! They were polite and respectful and resourceful in keeping our kitchen sink functioning for most of the time and the stove so we could could continue to cook and clean up. Love the work, this company is the best! read more

Highly Professional, Great Process and Organization. High Quality work. We did both the bathrooms with RW last month. The sales process was very clean and professional. No Pressure whatsoever. The model and design was outside the box thinking. The process was very organized and highly transparent. As a project manager myself I liked the way they handled the planning. They completed the work as planned without too much overage. there were some minor hickups they resolved them without major issues quickly. Their workers were highly professional, and kept us informed of every step and treated the work site and our home with respect. They left the site clean and made sure that we had minimal disruption while they were working. They closed the punchlist promptly and had a granite countertop that their subcontractor fabricated wrong replaced very quickly, overall a very pleasant and easy experience. A couple of things to note: We were dealing with a ton of administrative staff, and found ourselves repeating ourselves a number of times till the project actually started. The Concierge shopping service they offered was useful, but we would have liked a little more background before the shopping appointment so that we did not feel dazed, we stopped oursleves and did our own research and slowed down a bit they assisted in getting their contractor pricing from several places. They cost more than the competition, but I felt that premium was worth it. read more

My wife hired Republic West seven years ago to remodel the house due their ratings, I guess. Seven years later their sloppy and crummy work continues. I could tell you story after story but I'll stick with the main one that happened seven years ago and what happened 6/17. Seven years ago, in the middle of the night an entire cabinet fell off the wall destroying all of our wedding dishes. They had the nerve to question me like I did something. The owner, Gim, didn't even have the respect to show up the next day. Seriously, this could of really hurt someone bad. Just to replace $800 of dishes was a battle. That brings me to 2017. Thinking their nightmare was over, I decided to put Travertine down throughout the house. In one of the small bathrooms my wife bought a nice pedestal sink and cabinet with Republic West. When we went to take it out it was screwed to the wall. I had figured they had done this so it wouldn't move but how would I clean down below? Once we pulled it out, I discovered the real reason; they had sold me a cabinet missing a back pedestal, ball leg. Hence the real reason to screw it to the wall so it wouldn't wobble. They had painted around the old colors so I'm guessing that was normal. I don't think you paint first. Maybe they were trying to be deceitful by installing the cabinet so nobody would see the leg. Either way, I'd stay far away from these guys. For their high prices there has to be some better companies. I took this review down or so I thought. I waited for Jim to contact me back after I told him the ball was in his court. Total silence. Once again; awful customer service read more

We cannot speak to the quality of their work but their ability to provide clear detail around cost of budget is awful. We were working through a design to remodel a portion of the interior of our home as well as the outside. I will spare the sorted confusing details but we were working with Jacque (designer) who was nice and spent a good amount of time with us but once we were presented with the final bid/estimate she was not able to explain 211k in cost. Yes that's $211,000. They collected 5k from us to start the process and when we were not able to get her to confirm where these hidden projects costs were coming from (we scratched the project). We asked to use the 5k towards a smaller bathroom project and she told us that money was to be used towards "phase 2". This was never disclosed nor did we sign off on that. No one ever cared enough to reach out (owner) or follow up. Bad customer service, bad reviews and I suspect they may prey on a clientele that doesn't have much experience with contractors. read more

I have worked with Republic West for home remodeling since 2006. Initially we wanted to update our kitchen and RW suggested re-facing our cabinets in order to modernize the kitchen without breaking the bank. Well 10 years later the kitchen is still one of my favorite redesigned rooms in our home. The expertise and workmanship has lasted well beyond our expectations. Fast forward 5 years to 2011 we decided to call RW again when we wanted to do a complete remodel of our master bathroom. The project was handled with exemplary care and with the finest and most precise detail. This project required complete removal of old plumbing and installation of new shower and steam room. A major project that went smoothly and on time. The crew from the various contractors (i.e. designers, plumbers, tillers, etc.) were all experts and completed the scheduled work on time. So now it is 2016 and we needed the outside house painted. While researching contractors for this project we came across RW again. We met with Dwight who was knowledgeable and informative of a product being used to protect the outside of the house with the option of lifetime warranty. Without hesitation we hired their services. We opted to use this product called Tank Paint, with lifetime warranty against cracks. But most impressive were the painters Sergio and his crew who work with RW. What a professional and well organized crew. Sergio fielded my questions with kindness and if I had any concerns he reassured me that the project was exactly as we had discussed and the schedule was on time. With explicit attention to detail, the job was done a day early! I can not say enough about the level of care, coordination, and professionalism Republic West provides. We will continue to use their services as the need arises and I look forward to working with them again in the future. read more

This company is horrible. Their communication is terrible. We wouldn't recommend calling them to get a quote for a project.

This was the worst decision that my husband and I have ever made. We chose them to remodel our kitchen and guest bath because their salesman promised us the project would be done honestly, properly and with no worries. Boy was that a lie. First, the problem started with the project manager Brian, He never showed up to take control. All work was done by budget Sub contractors who showed up on the job totally unprepared with no idea of what they were supposed to be doing. The next major problem was the in house project co-ordinater Stephanie. She never took our calls, rarely called us back and argued belligerently at every opportunity. She wanted to put a lock box on our home so that the contractors were free to enter as they wished. As it was, tools and equipment went missing from our garage while they were here over a 3 month period of time. The cabinets had to be done over up to 3 times, the granite was cut wrong, the plumbing and electrical work were so bad they were not done to code. (electrical outlets half submerged below counter depth. A 3 inch gap in sink drain pipe such that all water drained underneath the counter top) Believe me I could go on and on. My husband called to talk to the President of the company who was quite possibly the most arrogant and caustic person we have ever met. No effort to correct , make amends or even apologize let alone refund any payment. All of the above had to be redone finally at our expense by our own hired contractor 6 months after the job was completed. If you want to be taken for an expensive ride, treated rudely and end up having to do the job over again at your own expense THIS IS THE OUTFIT FOR YOU! read more
