Went here to get lenses for a pair of frames I already had. I asked the optician if it was possible to add nose pads on the frames, she just stared at me and shook her head. She almost looked annoyed to do her job?? I was kind of taken aback by her attitude. The optician proceeded to say "you have no bridge at all" in a rude manner almost insulting my looks. The doctor owners, the father and daughter duo, must train their staff better to be more culturally sensitive when working with Southeast Asian patients and not insult our racial features. Is the Optician racist? This was the only takeaway I had walking away from this experience. Not to mention the awkward front desk situation. They have two front desk people, when you are talking to one, the other front desk person just stare at you the whole time. I felt so insulted and racially profiled that I asked my husband to call and cancel my lenses with them. Also, how are lenses $240 after insurance?!!! On glasses USA you can get at least three pairs including lenses for that price. read more

My earlier review proved faulty. Time intervened. RX was not competent, as after receiving new lenses I noted the near vision rx was off, significantly off. It appears the doc took a guess at the numbers, used his guess, and I got the outcome. At about this time my son in law got a new rx from another do, Visionworks, in the Landing area. His RX is fine, it works, and they reworked it to make it right. This place took a very casual approach, which is initially pleasing, but the outcome is less than acceptable. I'll get a new vision exam in Jan 2025,, and get new lenses that are correct. Be careful if you use this place. read more

I had an incredibly positive experience with Renton Vision Source, which began with making my appointment over the phone and continued through all stages of my appointment and selecting glasses. Making the appointment was very easy, and I appreciated being sent the forms in advance to complete before my appointment time. When I arrived, explaining my printer had not been working, the person at the front desk was extremely kind and understanding and had no problem with my emailing the forms back so they could print them (I apologize for not remembering her name--I am terrible at names). The appointment started a few minutes early (which was great), and Dr. Alison Jensen was wonderful. She was kind, thorough, attentive, and really personable. She answered all of my questions, and was happy to show me all of the images of my eyes and explain what each element meant (which I loved). She also talked me through my lifestyle and concerns I had about my vision, provided all my options, and made her personal recommendation for how I proceed. I really appreciated all the thoughtful care and how she provided realistic options for me. When my appointment was over, she walked me up front and I was greeted by a second person who asked me if I'd like to look at frames on my own, with assistance, or if I'd like to take my prescription home and shop elsewhere. I really appreciated all the options, and opted to have her assist me in selecting glasses. Their available selection of both glasses and sunglasses is excellent. She asked me thoughtful questions about my preferences, talked me through common concerns and feedback about different frames, and provided her recommendations without pushing me in any direction. I ended up selecting frames there and then she walked me through each pricing point, the fees involved, and all my options. She even made sure to let me know which aspects I did or didn't need (such as anti-glare, transitional lenses, or a higher-quality lens for the glasses--I only got one of those three things after consultation) (I apologize for not remembering her name either--I really wish I did for everyone there). Overall, the experience was so stress-free, transparent, and personal. I felt very seen and well taken care of by everyone there, and highly recommend them. read more

Been happy clients for several generations. We have tried other eye drs and continue to return to Renton vision source. They are very thorough and take their time with clients. Their upgraded technology makes eye exams much faster than in decades gone by. I'd rather have them spend time with their clients and do the job correctly the first time and thank them for taking their time over the years to make that happen. Their online scheduling is a breeze. I use to have communication issues with scheduling but online prevents that now. So long as you give a 72 hr notice they're decent about rescheduling you. Prices are $$ but if you have insurance it shouldn't be a problem. If you are tight in budget you can just order frames and get your glasses from Zenni Optical or similar sites. Dr. Alison Jensen tunes in to what you say, what you want for your glasses, and also with communicating what you need. She both asks you questions, and answers your questions with interest. I have unusual eyeglasses and Dr. Alison Jensen understood exactly what I wanted and why and explained why it was also a good health choice. Love that I was shown the images of my retinas and got an explanation of what was going on with my eyes. I was able to get an appointment quickly. The atmosphere was warm & friendly and professional. If I had one word to describe myself, it would be particular. I am a man of expectation and people I encounter quickly become aware. There is a fundamental flaw with most people and that flaw is punctuality. Most everything is designed to run on time, so when you are out of synch that causes issues. This was my first time in this office, and I came here for several reason despite multiple providers closer to my home. 1) Ratings and reviews, what people say about you is important and even though my insurance plan advised possible discounts everywhere, I elected competent, professional service or additional discounts. 2) Kindness, I reached out to this office a year ago and they were extremely nice, I was ultimately advised to see an Ophthalmologist, but I didn't forget the amazing reception they folks gave me over the phone. My primary issue is the issue I have with every medical provider and that's time management. I was told to fill out forms, online, ahead of time, and arrive early and I did both. For me, this is a positive, If I do my part, the expectation is, when I arrive, there is the customary check in and I'M SEEN ON TIME. My personal policy is, I never wait more than 10 minutes and was just getting up to leave when I was invited back to begin my exam. As I spent 10 minutes wondering why no one updated me on the potential delay, I listened to the two women at the main counter carry on personal conversation. I also watched a variety of staff walk back and forth, just giving me the impression that several people could be doing more. Once I connected with the doctor, he was as advertised. Extremely personable, competent, and caring, but we also realized that the medical staff that started the exam, failed to capture details which just caused the duplication of efforts. No one is perfect and mistakes happen, but it just left me uncomfortable in the hands of anyone else other than the name on the front door. This place was extremely comfortable, and the interior is much more attractive than the exterior. I think this place has the 5-star potential that many reviewers recount, however, for me, I could give the doctor 5 stars, but the rest of the staff didn't earn a single one. Hopefully this situation isn't dismissed. Anyone can have a bad or off day, but there is no shortage of optometrist in the area, so why create a situation where you are providing fuel to the competition. I can't reward the issues I experienced with 5 stars. I just hope a conversation takes place to prevent this from reoccurring. read more

I'm thoroughly over the moon to have discovered Dr. Allison Jensen after moving to south Seattle, where there are not a ton of options for different types of healthcare. Located just a little south of my neighborhood in Renton, Dr. Jensen has already both allayed some concerns I had about my optic nerve, and shown upbeat determination to home in on a multi focal contacts prescription that really works for my lifestyle. Beyond that, I just really like her. She's delightful to talk to, knowledgeable, personable, and just strikes me as a very warm and authentic person. Maybe it's the wake of the pandemic talking but I kind of just want to hang out and chat I've never had terrifically warm or personable care when it comes to my eyes, and I've moved around a lot, so I typically just remained with whoever I initiated a chart with, reasoning that it's more frictionless that way. Most recently, I'd resigned myself to the lackluster care (and endlessly churning sea of doctors) at Costco, thinking there wasn't all that much difference. But when you experience that extra, sort of familial type of interaction, the contrast leaps out at you. I've already passed along her name to a couple neighbors who aren't thrilled with their eye doctors. If you're new to the area or thinking about switching things up, I don't think you can go wrong here. read more

From the initial phone call to make the appointment to my exit from there offices if felt like I was working with old friend. They were helpful, efficient and more than competent. I recently had a positive experience at Renton Vision Source. I had concerns and confusion about my eyes: my rapidly changing prescription, whether I needed new glasses, how my retinas are doing, and to follow up a posterior vitreous detachment. I feel a lot better after the exam. I like Dr. Jensen. He's a nice person. He answered all my questions. Dr. Jensen seems really good at what he does. I had come there with the idea that I needed new glasses. Turned out I did not. I appreciate his honesty. I also found the staff to be professional and friendly. I plan on going back to Dr. Jensen in the future and would recommend RVS to others. I would make a suggestion that I think helped in my case. Love this place. Instead of a "mom & pop" shop it's a daughter & pop shop! Dr.jensen is so nice and kind and genuinely cares and just talks to you like a person. The exam was quick and he has some pretty up to date technology that i havent seen at 5+ other locations I've been a patient at. His daughter followed in his footsteps and also works there now, she was really nice to my bf who I actually recommended to go to this location. I just had my first visit and from scheduling to the staff at check in, the tech and Dr they were so friendly, sweet, patient and efficient. I am a stay at home mom so I had to drag both kiddos with me and everyone interacted with them and the Dr even gave them some 3D activities to keep them occupied. They said they thought my insurance covered all of my sons' hardware and lens cost and that they'd bill us for any excesses, if any, they meant it. i could not have asked for a better experience for my child's first eye exam! Dr. Jensen is really good with kids and a genuinely caring doctor! After a quick initial exam at his annual check up that showed some vision issues, my child's pediatrician gave me a list of eye doctors who take children as patients. I debated between going to a kids only place or going to a general practice. I had heard good things about Dr. Jensen so I chose him. Initially there were problems with my insurance but Bobbie went out of her way to make sure we could still come for our appointment...when I finally met her today I saw what a truly nice person she is! They had toys for my boys to play with but what really made a difference was the unbelievable patience they all showed dealing with my 6 year old and his 3 year old brother who had to tag along. Dr. Jensen really knew how to put my son at ease. He took the time to raise my sons chair to be able to talk to him at his level when they were chatting. He asked good questions and made my son feel really special during the exam. My son left the exam knowing exactly why wearing glasses were important. I also felt like I learned a lot and appreciated the time Dr. Jensen spent answering my questions. In this day and age of rushed doctor visits, I didn't feel like were were being rushed. read more

I got off work at midnight and had a 7AM appointment here and I was ready for nothing. These are good people and made the whole experience enjoyable. As enjoyable as getting shot in the eye with air after 4 hours sleep can be. Everyone was great (Bobbi did most of the torture and actually made it bearable.) Dr Jensen is the best and we covered a wide range of topics while he did his work. I'm not sure if I want to see again but it's probably better than hiding behind poor vision. I LOVE Dr. Jensen & his staff. First off, Dr. Jensen is incredibly knowledgeable and personable. I first saw him 3 years ago when I had an eye infection and no insurance. He was extremely helpful and reassuring, and following his advice my eye healed in less than a week. When I got insurance I started to see him for my annual exams. So far, I haven't had to get my prescription changed. He's thorough in his exam and takes time to answer all of your questions. I think he's one of the most honest doctors I've seen and I value his professional opinion very much. As for his staff, they are a phenomenal bunch! Especially Bobbi and Pam. Professional and friendly. When I was in a bind - I accidentally washed one of my hard contact lenses down the sink - I called and Bobbi lent me a spare contact to use while my new one arrived. Because I couldn't make it to the clinic during business hours she worked something out where I'd still be able to pick it up. I broke my glasses and needed a new prescription as it had been a while. Doctor was able to see me day after I called. I am low risk in regards to eye health so she said she wouldn't need to dilate my eyes (wahoo!). And they let me bring my child with me where so many offices aren't allowing that currently.
