I had a very poor customer service experience with Visionworks in Renton when trying to confirm basic insurance information. I called to ask a straightforward question about whether my EyeMed insurance would be accepted for a contact lens exam. The staff member who answered seemed dismissive and uninterested in helping, and I was told I would need to wait around three hours for a callback without any clear effort to assist or clarify my question in the moment. When I did receive the callback, the interaction still felt unprofessional and rushed. The tone made it feel like my questions were an inconvenience rather than a normal part of customer service. I was simply trying to confirm coverage and pricing, but the experience left me without clear answers and with a negative impression of the office. I understand that clinics can be busy, especially during opening hours, but basic professionalism and courtesy should still be maintained when speaking with patients and potential customers. Our family had our eyes checked here at different times and we all had the same thoughts, while the doctors were great, we couldn't say the same with all the front of house staff, some were helpful and friendly but not all. I had a really great appointment for myself. Everyone was helpful and punctual. However, the appointment for my daughter was not the same. We arrived about 15 minutes early for her 12pm appointment. You could see it was either busy or they are understaffed. As we were waiting, a couple and their child came in. They started looking at glasses and then the man said "oh we had an appointment at 1130, do we need to check in" the front desk lady said "we have a strict late policy, but I can see if the doctor can squeeze you in" comes back and says "ok we will take you back." This was at 12pm when my daughter's appointment was supposed to start. We didn't go back to have her appointment until well after 12 pm. We were told that after the exam we would be helped with picking glasses, paying and getting the prescription. That is not at all what happened. They helped every other person in the room before us. Very unprofessional, no communication, and honestly just rude. The people that were late, should have been the ones waiting, not the people that arrived early. I will not return to this location. Which honestly sucks because I really liked the doctor I saw. Not a huge fan of the doctor that saw my daughter, she started the exam based off the prescription that was in her glasses which isn't the right prescription anymore. She seemed inconvenienced by the fact that I asked her to do a whole comprehensive exam. read more

The doctor was wonderful. The rest of the staff needs much improvement. THEY DO NOT BACK THEIR 100 DAY GUARANTEE. I had a pair of glass made. When they arrived, I noticed thing looked curved like I was in a fish bowl. Coincidentally, another customer had been complaining about the same thing the day I ordered my glasses. I had never heard of such a thing before. They remade the lenses. When the 2nd pair of glasses arrived, the right lens only was very blurry - a problem that had not existed on the original pair. The clerk check to see the pupil position and measure the lens and said there was nothing wrong with them. Never mind the fact that I cannot see! They didn't even have an actual doctor check the lenses or how I was seeing to verify the problem. She refused to remake the lens. Said I could wear them for 2 weeks and if there was still a problem they would refund my money. I didn't want a refund, I wanted them to fix the lens, but they refused. I was also not going to wear a pair of glasses which I could not see well through for 2 weeks. I've never had an issue with your eyes adjusting to glasses if you keep wearing them in the over 50 years I've been wearing glasses. The eye doctor came out to see what the problem was but the clerk would not shut her mouth long enough for me to explain. I tried but she kept talking over me. I asked her to credit my insurance so I could have a pair made elsewhere. She didn't do that and said nothing until I asked her about it again. Then she said she couldn't do that, the manager has to do that, and the manager was not in. So, I am still waiting to be able to go somewhere with much better service. My husband also had a problem with his lenses. He could not see in the distance. They adjusted his nose piece and said they should be fine. We didn't get new glasses or a refund. So here's a story about how hard it is to walk into a vision retailer and get glasses. My wife and I have been trying to get glasses for her over the last few months. Everywhere we've tried and won't name businesses, we have not been able to get this accomplished. They are too busy. Poor selection of eyewear. Not knowledgeable about their product or how it relates to the actual prescription. Or no idea how to look up our insurance which is one of the largest vision insurers in the world, VSP. Today, with a swarm of Saturday shoppers, April was able to find a way to get our goal accomplished. She said she'd be with us as soon as possible but handed my wife a basket so we could start loading frames we liked in there. They have a great selection. Within 10 minutes or so April had us sit at her table and run through what she though of all the frames. She had to call our insurance because one of our previous attempts had put a hold on our insurance claim even though we decided not to by from them. She hadn't eaten lunch and it was 3:30. She was completely knowledgeable about the business and how to move someone through the process with 100% satisfaction. Great job April and Visionworks today. read more

So the doctor in back gets 5 stars and the front gets a 2 star. After going here and talking to the staff I decided to go on line with my doctors info to eyebuydirect. Was able to make an appointment through their website within a week. Received a text message the day before confirming my appointment. I show up and the office is closed for training. Am told by staff that the doctor left the practice a few days ago. I'm pretty sure they had advanced notice of this doctor leaving yet his schedule was still available online, taking appointments. I'm also pretty sure there was advanced noticed that they would be closed for training yet online booking system still allowed for scheduling. Tried calling all day and kept getting sent straight to voicemail. There wasn't even a message stating the office was closed due to training. Pretty unprofessional. Went in and had my own prescription for glasses. They got the whole prescription wrong!! After 2 visits and them telling me I just need to adjust to the new script! I knew it wasn't right 3 time they finally agree to remake!! 2 weeks later glasses arrive they are great! 2 months after wearing them I was cleaning them and they broke at the bottom! I took them back again and was treated so poorly they asked if I had purchased the extended insurance which I had it was their fault again! They didn't shave the lens to fit properly in the frame so of course in time it would break! Not a great experience!! I will continue to go to Costco for all my glasses from now on! read more

While some have had positive experiences I have not. The major pro it has going on is it's location. In the heart of The Landing there's plenty of parking and it is easy to find. It is bright and cheery with a huge inventory of average looking frames. The optometry shop in the back is fast and convenient. And there ends the positive for me. The frames are average. Small variations, nothing unique and nothing eye catching. It was a bit of a disappointment. I had bought a pair of glasses here a little under two years ago and the lenses started delaminating. I couldn't even get someone to look at them as the man behind the counter brushed off my concerns. I looked around the store for fifteen minutes and didn't get even an acknowledgment. As I was leaving someone asked if I needed something and that's when I mentioned my troubles. I was told the frames were old. When I went to another glasses shop and they looked at them and informed me that the weird lines I was seeing was the lenses delaminating. It just wasn't great. read more

This newly opened office has all the bells and whistles in terms of new tech that make the eye exams quick and relatively painless (there's no help for that puff of air test!). The doc is very good at explaining your eye and it's health to you. While the staff is still getting up to speed on software (it's only been open for 2 weeks), they are friendly and very helpful. But all the associates that helped me were incredible. They are all knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. I picked out a awesome pair of glasses and then the associate went over all the information for lenses. They were still practicing COVID 19 protocols, and I think that was fantastic. The store is clean, bright, organized and very easy to pick out a frame. You can watch the progress of your glasses via the website, it's pretty cool. The prices are pretty good. I went in to get the glasses that I down over $400 on n I couldn't see it off then noes light headed. I told them so. They said I just needed to get used to wearing glasses. I've been wearing glasses for years. I've never not been able to see it off then not have any other classes made me light headed. They said try then for a couple weeks n if they still don't work bring them back in. I told them that I can't wear these. I can't see clearly out of them n they make me light headed. I can't walk around like that n I Shiney can't drive with them. They refused to do anything about it. I'm just out my 400 plus dollars. We were looking for a new eye doctor and came across this clinic and read the reviews. The only pros: As we got there, we were seen by the the eye Doctor and he was very professional and engaging. I felt comfortable talking to him and after seeing him, I felt confident and ready to purchase new frames. Another pro is, they have wide range of variety. Unfortunately, when we went out to the front of the store to choose our frames, there were 2 ladies and one guy wearing a Seahawks suit working there and didn't bother asking us if we needed help or offered any. On top of that, they were having conversations which I understand in a workplace. But my issue was, they were not only just chatting about how sick the other one was, how much sleep the other one got and to top it off, they kept talking s*** about customers in front of us. Whenever the phone rang, at least one of them would roll their eyes. I was patient enough to push that aside but after 15 mins of just looking around, I had to get one of their attention and ended up doing our transaction, bought 2 glasses, and were given an estimated arrival time. When we called about our glasses to check if they were ready , the man on the phone asked if I got a text or a call and I said no but nicely explained why I called in anways as we were told we can call in a few days before est date. After him transferring me, I was told one of them did arrive earlier but we were told that it would need to go through inspection first and to wait for the text later that day. Totally understandable. WELL, 3 days passes and NO TEXTS AND/CALLS/VOICEMAIL. So we called in again and was told that the one that came in the store have been ready and the other one just came in via FedEx. At this point, we were ready to pick at least on of them up. When we got there, the man who was wearing the Seahawks suit the last time greeted us and asked what he can do for us. We explained the situation and we were asked again "did you get a text or call?" I explained again that we didnt get anything despite one of them being ready. And I also told him that one of them just arrived but we can pick it up later after inspection. So he proceeded to look for the first one. And then, he asked for the name for the second ones and I explained to him AGAIN that it just came in FedEx as we were told over the phone before arrival. Then he asked "SO WHAT GAVE YOU THE IDEA THAT IT WAS READY?" At this point, I have ran out of patience and just held my tongue and left the store with the first pair that I SHOULDVE GOTTEN A TEXT OR A PHONE CALL ABOUT BUT DIDNT and still currently waiting for A TEXT OR A PHONE for my second pair that I probably wont get. Neither did he check if our phone number was inputted correctly. If it wasn't for the Optometrist and the wide range of choices, I WOULDNT BOTHER GOING HERE. Unproffessional sales staff/team. I know this is a chain but I'm really pleased with this particular location's accommodations!! I came for an eye exam a while back and t was quick and easy. Came back the other day for new glasses, picked two frames and they said it would be done by the evening and it happened! Really happy and pleased with the honesty and helpful attitudes of all the employees and accommodations to put my new glasses together, I had one frame where I wanted it to be stemless with earring like stems and they even helped me put it on. This has been the most positive eye glasses transaction I've had, so thank you. I now have proper glasses. read more

The staff here have always been great! Recently I was really upset because I bought a new pair of glasses outside of my annual insurance covered pair. They were pretty pricey but I damaged them pretty badly after only a week or so. I walked into VisionWorks pretty hopeless. I had been trying to save $ at time of purchase so I declined the warranty and I figured the glasses were a total loss but I wanted to see if I could save the lenses and maybe save a little on replacing the frames. I didn't have an appointment but after hearing my tale of woe, Louis ( I think that's his name, sorry buddy I'm bad with names and it was a week ago) showed that he cared and took the glasses and told me " I can't make any promises but I'll give it a shot and do the best I can with them, give me 20 minutes" I came back 20 minutes and to my very pleasant surprise the glasses were back in perfect condition! Dr. Wang is an awesome optometrist! He was funny and provided a comprehensive review of my eyes. I enjoyed my visit and also got some really cool frames! They have a great choice of frames and are way cheaper than LensCrafters, PearleVision, etc. The lady that helped us was really nice. There was an older man who works in the lab. He was also nice to us and very funny. He was from my hometown, so we chatted it up. I will probably be going back here for my next experience with glasses, as I thoroughly enjoyed it. Vision works is in the front, and the optometrist is in the back. You don't necessarily have to get your frames at vision works either as Dr. Wang will write you a prescription. I don't write reviews very often. Just don't have the time. So it's something special when I feel so compelled I feel like I must post. I cannot speak for the rest of the staff at Visionworks but this review is for Dr. Wang (and it is Wang not Wong). I have known Dr. Wang for quite a while, even before being at Visionworks in Renton. What impressed me about him was how calm, straight-forward, and professional he was. Unlike other optometrists I have visited, Dr Wang spent time with me discussing many subtle points and average individual might not consider. But he never wasted my time or ever became "salesy". And get this... I asked for his help to write a letter for me because a referee group to which I belonged had banned the use of sunglasses on long days out on the fields. The position paper he created was perfect: clear, concise, and bullet proof. I submitted this paper and, in the next year's board meeting, the organization (name withheld to protect the guilty) reversed the ban and actually encouraged the use of sunglasses in the next release of the referee manual. Huge victory for eye health for all us referees. Changed the course of allowable equipment what should be forever. In closing, if you are looking for a nice, understanding, strong, no BS, smart optometrist then Dr Wang is it. Credit to the profession. May he never stop doing what he is doing read more

Incompetent people are everywhere these days, so I shouldn't be surprised. I called here specifically to see if a particular product was offered (single vision, Transitions Drivewear lenses in drilled/rimless frames)....Pretty simple question. Heather confirmed that it was. I even had her confirm it w/ another person since she seemed hesitant....so I drove down there to that ridiculous "mall" in Renton during a rainstorm just to order the $600 glasses...sat down, created a customer profile etc....Then the process stalled...."Not offered" her computer said. I told her that every other optometry shop in the area offers this combination and that I know it's not due to a prohibition by the manufacturer (Transitions, based in Ireland)....She had no answer..texted her manager who had no real explanation either. Finally a place that accepts Davis Vision for Boeing employees! And what a great location at the landing for Boeing employees! It's a pretty small office, Visionworks is in front, but if you're there for the Optometrist then walk on back where there's another receptionist. The Optometrist, Dr. Wang is super nice! Came here with my boyfriend on a Saturday morning to get glasses & a pair of sunglasses. I'd recommend coming as early as possible as it gets busy as the day goes on. Update August 5th. Still nothing. Not a response. Not anything. No emails. No phone calls. But they were going to look into it. Ha ha.

Dr Wang is a superb optometrist. He moved from a large high end clinic to his own office. He and his staff, independently owned, within Visionworks, performed one of the most thorough examinations I have ever had in 40 yrs. They recommended a test that most people blow off, for glaucoma and other health indicators. I had my 25 yr old daughter and I take it. He was able to diagnose a condition I never realized I had and how to be alert and aware of future signs. "Z" in the frames/lens section picked out several glasses with a few adjectives I gave her, ! before ! I had a chance to touch one, that perfectly fit my style.. bam .... very intuitive to clients. Lens range from affordable to outrageous, if you want bells and whistles .... All in All ... a fantastic experience.
