The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of one is because the actual dentist is nice. The…read morereceptionist is a whole other matter. This office accepts government insurance. Not that it's anyone's business but not all gov insurance is free like people like to believe. So anyway I came into this office for a cleaning and a tooth ache. I have never had a cavity before so I wasn't sure what was going on. The receptionist is hands down the most unprofessional woman ever. She will accost you for having government insurance. The plan pays for you to have 2 cleanings a year. She kept bitching that they never got paid from the program for 2 cleanings a year. But that's not the customer's fault. This woman is so terrible the last time I went in there I left crying. She will question you about whether she thinks you can afford to pay your bill or use your insurance. I have a cavity on one of my front teeth and I've never had one there so I wanted to get an appointment. I called twice a week ago and no one returned my call. Finally I called again today and said I had left 2 voicemails, which is a pretty standard thing for a client to say so that a secretary knows you already called- and she asked me 'why was I questioning her.' I told her I just wanted an appointment and she should be more professional. If you can go to another dentist I would.

I had a very upsetting experience with this office…read more I called to reschedule my appointment. I told her my name, asked what time my appointment was, and apologized. She told me it was at 12, and by the time I called it was around 1:00. When I asked to reschedule, I was told I could try calling back months down the road and they would probably have forgotten about it by then. The tone was snarky and dismissive. I had scheduled this appointment weeks in advance and had already dealt with insurance issues, so I had put real time and effort into getting it set up. I wasn't treating it casually--I was trying to fix something I had already worked to arrange. I called back again and asked if there was any way I could still be seen that day or if there were any cancellations. Instead of any normal response, another staff member got on the phone and started yelling at me to "go find another dentist." I wasn't being rude or argumentative. I was just trying to have a conversation about an appointment I had already scheduled and see if there was any possibility of being worked in. Even if the answer was no, it should have been handled professionally. Being spoken to like that in a medical office was completely unacceptable. I would not return and would not recommend this office.

You enter the first front door, you stop for your temperature check and Covid-19 survey. If you pass the test you then enter the second set of doors and find a chair in the waiting room that have been spaced to account for social distancing. Of course all this time you are required to wear a face mask. Then in my case I was there for a long overdue dental hygiene cleaning. Each hygienists space was designed to be a separate room when this office was built. The hygienist starts by handing you a mouthwash to swish with for 30 seconds to help kill any bacteria or virus that may be lurking in your mouth. At this point the patient is safe to be without their face mask but the hygienist dons a mouth/nose covering and a clear face shield. The traditional cleaning takes place from here on with x-rays, gum measuring, water pick scaling, and finally polishing. Dr. Renshaw made his appearance and consultation after the gum measurements were taken. When you leave after your appointment you exit via the back door which puts you in the same convenient parking lot. Thanks Geri for making my mouth feel so good again. I always love the feel of my mouth and teeth after my visit to you.

I was uncomfortable from the second I walked through the patient door. The patience chairs back in the rooms are like from a 1950's horror film. Once I was seated, I sat there for around 20 minutes waiting. There was an exit door in my room & the employees kept going in and out of it. Like I wasn't even there. Then I'm finally getting hooked up to my IV, and they put this death mask on me and left it for over 20 more minutes. They said it was laughing gas, but I was already being put down via IV. The "laughing gas" made me so nauseous and weird feeling. Like I had no control and couldn't move. I was helpless and freaking out. After the surgery, they didn't wait for me to wake up. They handed me off to my husband, not conscious. Once I was home and awake, I could barely open my mouth. It was miserable. Mind you, they only removed 1 tooth during this procedure. It has now been 32 days since my surgery, and my mouth, face and gums are STILL numb. I've had 4 follow ups and no answers. "Just wait, the feeling 'should' come back". I will never return to this nightmare of an office and I will never recommend them to anyone. I will do the opposite quite frankly.

I too saw Dr. Bondra and found him to be very condescending and arrogant. I later requested other doctors there because I did not like Dr. Bondra. However, it seemed to be taboo to request another doctor there. They often told me, "you need to have Dr. Bondra handle this, he is more familiar with you condition". Luckily, Dr. Bondra seemed to be on vacation quite often, and I was able to get Dr. Ford to treat my condition in his absence. I really like doctor Ford. I later requested Dr. Ford again, but when I was sitting in the operating room, suddenly Dr. Bondra pops in! My heart sunk. Another thing I had issue with there was x-rays. They wanted to take x-rays every time I came in their office. They once took as many as 3 or 4 x-rays in a years time. When I protested, they said they lost them or couldn't find them so the had to take new ones. I told them I was concerned because I had other x-rays for other medical reasons and felt these were excessive. The young x-ray tech just said "Well, I take x-rays everyday, so I am exposed more than you are". I always left there feeling confused and somewhat violated. I would never recommend KCOM to anyone. I refer them to the "fast-food of medicine". They seem to be more concerned with getting you in and out a quick as possible, and do not give you the attention or time you need.

During that time we worked with them during dental insurance changes from my employer and their change in provider status. Unfortunately the practice was sold and the business office changed to Family Dental Center. Their poor communication and mismanagement has resulted in my family receiving an unexpected bill for hundreds of dollars for insurance covered cleanings. Months after taking my 2 children in for cleanings, we received a surprise bill for said cleanings. After leaving numerous messages with the office, multiple calls with my insurance company and finding and calling Family Dental Center, I found out that they dropped my in-network insurance days before my kids' visit. Of course, they did NOT notify me of this change in their practice when we arrived at the office for the appointments. This lack of communication about this change feels intentional. They dropped the insurance and didn't inform me so that they can charge me rather than my insurance. Scam or terrible business practice, I'm not sure which. The Family Dental Center is unwilling to reason with me over the bill and their lack of communication to me over their change in coverage.

I explained to the front desk staff, the dental assistant and Dr. Barrington time and time again that my dental insurance expired the end of March 2025. Repeatedly I was told they could accomplish everything needed in that 10 week period. My insurance had sent my preauthorizations and we were on the way. When I completed my appointment on March 20th the front desk clerk said I could not get back in until mid April. Again i explained my insurance would end in 10 days. To no avail was she helpful. I was so upset I went home and calmed down and then called the office and unfortunately got the same receptionist asked if I might be able to speak with Dr Barrington at this convenience. She said no he was with patience and said assumed i was calling because kg the future appointment. She said she would speak with the dentist as well as the office manager and i would receive a call back. Of course that call his never happened. I don't know if she threw away my message and Dr.Barrington never got it or that he did and simply didn't care. Either way I still need a filling and a night guard. This practice in Frankfort Ky made promises they couldn't keep. They put on the friendly small town smiles and collect their money and then the patient is forgotten. If you are looking for a long term dental practice that cares about your dental health this is not the practice to visit. You will be a number not a patient. M Wells
