Such a warm and welcoming dental office. My whole family has always been treated with kindness, patience, and genuine care. Special shoutout to Dr. Hanson, Ms. Colleen, and Ms. Nancy for taking extra care with me and my fiancé and for making my young sons feel comfortable and heard during their visits. The billing manager is the most disrespectful person I have ever encountered at a dental office and I have been to many due to dental issues. I had gotten work done last August at another Renken. I made an apt here since I now moved to Leander and was still in pain. I had gone to another dental office (not Renken) in April or May and was advised that I would need the crown replaced if the pain didn't subside and since it was done within the year timeframe to go back to the office I had gotten it done. I thought all Renkens were contracted together and was not told EACH IS SEPARATE until after the appointment. That isn't even the main reason I am upset. I am upset because the billing manager tried to insinuate it was odd I waited so long. First of all I wasn't asking for a refund so not sure what I would have to gain. I only wanted the work redone. Maybe some people like having dental work done again for fun but that isn't my idea of a good time. She needs to learn proper etiquette such as how to properly speak with customers and understand dental billing with insurance. Work is normally guaranteed for at least a year. The other staff was nice but I would caution going here since she unfortunately needs further training and coaching. I will be contacting the general manager here as well as leadership at Renken for her to get proper training. Lucky for me my job is to find people online that may not be listed so shouldn't be hard to get in touch with Dr. Renken himself even though he is in another state. It appears this is a known issue as well if you look at other reviews. Luckily I do not bunch all Renkens together and feel bad for the dentist and non billing staff because they were nice. True they should have stated they were all separate PRIOR TO THE APT as I would have never gone to this location. So I will be addressing that as well as it is very confusing. read more

Office of dentists are great but the Billing office is riding that line of questionable billing practices. I received 2 bills. For services . The first bill given to me would not change according to the office personnel. So I Saved the balance that was stated and when I went into office for measuring of partials the bill went up over 200 due to the insurance company,so they say. Then I receive an email stating I owe 3800 ( an amount that they stated They would write balance. I called billing dept and was asked oh do you have insurance and I said yes! ( why they did not know this is mind boggling) so Cindy called me back asked for me to send copy of bill (or ticket, as she called it) and I sent copies of both bills. She said she would then Close my account. THEN I RECEIVED A THIRD BILL FOR $117.00!!! I checked With my insurance company (on line) and the amount left out of my $1500 was $ 117.00 and I refused to pay this. they then sent me a bill from TSI apparently that's their in-house collection agency and on that bill. It said if you dispute this, please on the back here put down and there was lines on the back of the bill to write your complaint and on the front of the bill it stated All Things would stop all collections would stop until this was resolved so I wrote it sent it out then I get a phone call within a couple of days time stating that I needed to pay the seven $117 before I went in for an appointment where I was having my lower partial realigned or fixed and that I couldn't go in until I pay that so at this point, I'm totally furious so I paid that and I gave her a few words of my mind and what was going on with this billing and I didn't like their practices at all. So a day or two before I went in for my appointment to have the lower partial fixed. I get a return in the mail to send back to me the address they gave me to send this to their in-house collection. Agency was not valid. I'm looking at the address looking at it all of a sudden I'm selling. It's not in Georgetown it was the address in Georgetown, but with the town of Austin, so are you tell me how does a in collection in-house in collection company as big as Renkin not realize that they sent this out to a customer with the wrong town so they could come back and then they could say probably she never answered anything I have everything saved. I'm taking it into the office because I'm waiting for them. They were supposed to redo my lower partial and I'm giving this paperwork or copies of it to them. I am so angry at the billing office. I don't mind I pay what I have to pay if that's the bill that you give me but you keep coming back three times and whatever was left if there was $1000 left in my insurance is that what I would've had to pay I don't like their strong handed way of doing things be honest with people be upfront with people even if it's a big bill let me make the decision if I want to go forward with my work to be done on my teeth if I can pay that bill and I will save that money if that's what I can do but to keep going around and giving people bills giving me a bill giving me a bill and going back-and-forth and telling me we write off the death. Don't worry what this is is what it's going to be three times they practices of collecting money is not for it and not straight up so if you wanna go to them, the doctors are good. June 26th, I had a crown replaced and the work was great! However, Renkin over charged me as per my insurance statement. This part is not a big deal as I contacted them to get a refund. They then told me they needed to wait for my insurance to pay them before they can give me a refund. My insurance paid them two weeks later. When contacting them on the refund they delayed. So, I disputed it with CareCredit. CareCredit then adjusted my account for the wrong amount. Renkin then contacted me to inform me that CareCredit awarded me the wrong amount and asked me to pay the difference. I did and then two days later, Carecredit charged the amount back again. Renkin now gained double what I owe them. I would not recommend using them unless you want to over pay! read more

New dental insurance meant I needed to find a new dentist. Found this place pretty easily on the insurance website. It was close to home and their website made it look like a nice, clean place. I called and told the scheduler I was a new patient and wanted to schedule a cleaning. I provided my insurance over the phone and scheduled the appointment. But, unfortunately, that is the end of my positive experience. When I arrived, on time- the only check in available was at a tablet. No one spoke to me for a full 20 minutes and then someone finally brought me another tablet to do new patient paperwork. Which I had already completed online. When I mentioned this, she told me they didn't see it and to do it again. It's a solid 20 minutes worth of the same question over and over again.. but fine, I did it again. Then I'm called back. And the lady assisting me is nice, but we start with X-rays and then move on to a camera she uses to take pictures of all my teeth. This takes what feels like forever, but I'm trying to be understanding because the girl is just doing her job. Then the dentist comes in, and starts talking to me about my options. Cool- but when does the cleaning take place?! He advises the girl who whirled the camera all around my mouth to bring me an estimate. And over 20 minutes later, she does. For $20K- ha! Excuse me?! Then camera girl tells me that they didn't actually verify my insurance, so maybe those numbers will go down. She says she will email me an updated estimate by the next day so I can have a better idea. I still, WEEKS later, have not received that updated estimate. I also left without a cleaning, with absolutely no mention of why OR an attempt made to schedule one. I'm supposed to give you $20K for some mess I really don't need, and you can't even pretend to want to clean my teeth?! And for the grand finale of disappointment- today I received an EOB from my insurance company, letting me know to expect a bill for $459 for uncovered services. This place waited until the end of the visit to tell me they hadn't verified my insurance, and then billed me for things that weren't covered! And best part about it all? The EOB says I'm being billed for casts of my teeth because they aren't deemed necessary at my age... but they never took casts of my teeth! Moral of story, run very far from this place. They won't perform the service you request, they will try to upsell you more than the cost of a used car for things you didn't ask for, they will wait until the end of your appointment to admit they didn't perform basic scheduling duties, and then bill your insurance (and you) for services they didn't do. I love going to the dentist but this was the worst experience. Walked in to a sign-in tablet on a counter. Then, followed a sign to a waiting room. Sit, wait. No staff to greet me. A dental hygienist walks in. Be with you soon. Another person comes and takes me down a long corridor of rooms and ushers me in. Asks if I'm having any problems. No, just here for a cleaning. We'll take x-rays first. No. I've recently had many tests and been advised no more exposure to radiation. Back in a minute with another staff person. We won't clean unless you have x-rays. No, I say again. That's that. I leave. There is NO law that requires you to have X-rays. I was not experiencing any problems and have my teeth cleaned every 4-6 months. Had to change dentists for insurance. Impersonal, unprofessional, weird office set-up. read more

5/5 stars for Renken Dentistry on Crystal falls. I cannot express enough how great they are. I had not been to a dentist in an embarrassing number of years and was really nervous about being seen. The office is very clean, bright and inviting. The front desk staff is so cheerful, quick to help and understanding. (Their phone etiquette is above and beyond as well). I was worried I'd be judged, but the providers comforted and reassured me that it would be okay. And honestly they were just happy to help me get my teeth back to health. We did a deep cleaning and they worked at my pace/comfort and helped me gain some of my confidence back. I've never had such a great experience at a dental office before but I'm glad I decided to start my journey with them. read more

This is the worst dentist experience of my life. It's extremely impersonal. They don't even have front office staff. My initial cleaning was in early July after having to wait 5 months. When I arrived, I was put in a chair in a room to wait 45 minutes. I was then told this was just the exam. The cleaning would be another hour for a 2 hour appointment. Even though they're want really any exam. The dentist saw me for about 2 minutes. I was late to work. They notified me I needed 8 teeth worked on even though I had been going regularly to a dentist. They did not offer any reasons why it helpful solutions. I had to ask for fluoride toothpaste. I came in for 3 crowns. It took 4 hours. I wasn't bombed correctly and it was intensive nerve pain the whole time. When I asked them to stop at one point, they would not. Eventually, they dismissed me with a temp crown over 2 teeth and one normal one. I found out later that is not best practice. It hurt me t constantly for 3 weeks. When I can back to try to get it adjusted, I asked Dr. Tran questions. While I should, he got up and left. When I came back for Mr permanent crowns, I was informed at that time that they didn't have an of them because they hadn't checked until that moment despite them telling me otherwise. 2 permanent ones were put in last week. This week, the final one was put in. When I rinsed my mouth last night, one of the ones from last week fell out. I nearly choked on it. That tooth has a very sensitive exposed nerve. They write that they offer emergency services, but they have no after hours number. I'm stuck trying to Google and can other doctors to fix this mess. The staff here is very nice and all the procedures have gone smoothly. So smoothly that I recommended Renken in Oak Hill to my husband. He was told that he needed a crown and it would cost so much out of pocket. A crown takes multiple visits and he would not have agreed to it unless he was told it was the only option. He got the crown and paid what we owed out of pocket. Our insurance denied the procedure and said he should have just had fillings and we owed another $600. We appealed repeatedly and were told that not enough proof was offered. My husband would have chosen to get fillings more cheaply and with fewer visits, instead now we are dealing with this bill. read more

It's a tooth mill. All they want is your money. Went in for a cleaning, didn't get the cleaning but got X-rays, 3d scans and a lot of talking about stuff I didn't want. I just wanted to do a cleaning. I hate dentists so I hardly ever go. And this is why. I just wanted a cleaning. My teeth are fine. Your hygienist was trying to upsell me on a "deep" clean before she even looked at my teeth. The dentist said my teeth look great. No decay no gum disease. You just want to get every penny you can. It's cool you're not the only dentist in the area. I'll be sure to mention this to my insurance provider as well. Not just me, my whole family and anyone I can convince. read more

I love this office for several reasons.....the hygienists are always professional and are sensitive to my needs. I'm kind of high maintenance. Dr. Renken has completed two fillings and is extremely gentle. I felt absolutely no pain. During the procedure he tells me I'm doing a good job, which makes me chuckle bc he's doing all the work. Even the numbing shot was relatively pain free! The practice has also worked very well with my son and his Invisalign. They worked everything out with insurance and have accommodated his busy schedule. read more

Get ready for extra charges. I made an appointment online for a cleaning. When I arrived, I was told I had to come back the following month for a follow up and have the cleaning completed, I explained to them that my insurance coverage would end at the end of that month and If I had to come back the following month, I wouldn't be covered for the follow up visit if they were performing any claim after the follow up, I was told that it was ok for me to come back the following month and that I will not have to pay for that visit to complete the cleaning so I agree to come back. Well, that was not true because I just got invoiced for the follow up visit since my insurance (of course) denied the claim. I called the office to explain and clarify what happened; they didn't care for my explanation and I was just pretty much told that it was my responsibility to pay for that invoice. When I called them I was never oppose to pay for the services since I know I'm responsible for anything the insurance is not paying for but I never expected the response I got on the phone when I called them. Then that stuff ends up costing you thousands. They have NO CUSTOMER service or front desk and act they they have no idea what you have an issue with on your billing statements. I had used Renken last year (2022), and was pleased with the dental hygienist. My next appointment was scheduled for 2/14/23. That was canceled and I couldn't get in until 6/2/23. That was cancelled, and after calling trying to get in, I was informed that my dental insurance was no longer valid. Wow! I could have saved a lot of time and effort if this had been told to me back earlier in the year. Their customer service leaves a LOT to be desired, especially when I am in need of a checkup, and now have to try to find someone that won't put me out another six months. Had a great 1st visit and assessment. Seriously. From the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out someone was with me talking to me and just made feel really comfortable. My anxiety was was really up, so that made it all the more better. Everyone was super friendly and we had a few laughs. These guys are really professional, but at the same time laidback. Went in for teeth cleaning initially and really liked the clinic. Lost a crown 2 days ago and called to make appointment and they were willing to get me in the same day, if I was available. I scheduled it for today instead and the staff was fantastic! They were able to get me fixed up with a temporary crown and I will have my permanent crown placed in about a week! Came in for dental cleaning after filling out Renken's contact form online and providing my insurance information, so my payment and contact info they already had upfront. Apparently, this was not enough. At the office, I was required to fill out additional (and probably double) personal information on an iPad, which I refused to do, because I already provided the information. That should be sufficient, it was only a dental cleaning. Then they simply told me they would not see me unless I filled out the information again, so I left. Whatever you do, don't get your teeth cleaned here. They'll try to squeeze every penny out of you, x-rays, repeat visits, you need a deep cleaning, etc. etc. etc. When the dust settled, was over $400 out of pocket as a "deep cleaning" is not considered preventative and not fully covered. read more

Get ready for a rollercoaster - these people are complete frauds. My initial experience with this place was absolutely great. The facility is clean, the staff is nice, and I was glad when I found out before my appointment that Renken was in-network. So, no problem. I book my appointment to get Botox (which was $600, but after dealing with a very bothersome TMJ issue, I was willing to make the investment). I pay for the Botox up front, and I was due for a cleaning and imaging also, but they didn't have me pay for that up front for whatever reason. I didn't think much of it. So, I get the Botox, and it didn't work, but that's a side note that doesn't really matter. I took the financial hit and was prepared to move onto the next treatment option. Then, I start receiving bills in the mail for the other stuff they didn't have me pay up front for - the cleaning, imaging, etc. These bills were for hundreds of dollars, so I'm worried because the way the bills look made it seem like they weren't in-network after all. So, I started making some phone calls. First, I called Renken's billing department. It took me days to reach anyone, which was already frustrating. In the meantime, I made calls to my insurance company and asked them if Renken was actually in-network with my insurance, and I was extremely disappointed when I learned that they were not. In order to see if I'd get the same information from Renken, I called them and asked them the same question - if they were in-network - to which they cheerfully replied that they were. At that point, I was angry. It'd been days since my first call to their billing department, so I left a message to them letting them know what I found out and that I wouldn't be returning. In addition, I left a negative Google review to warn other people about the shady treatment I experienced. This prompts Jennifer from billing to give me a call. This is where it absolutely just blows my mind. I explain to her what my issue was, and she lets me know that patients need to be aware of what their insurance does and doesn't cover. Of course I understand that. Working in healthcare myself, I encourage patients to be aware of their insurance coverage and we let them know up front if we do or do not take their insurance. I asked her why I have such a large bill if Renken is actually in-network with my insurance. She FINALLY told me that Renken tells everybody that they're in-network so as to "not turn away anyone from getting care." I made it very clear to them how underhanded that was and that if I'd known that they were out of network with my insurance, I never would have gone to them in the first place. She let me know that their whole office "knew of my case" because of my voicemail and had seen the negative Google review. Jennifer gave me this entire backstory of how Renken is a small business who takes pride in the care they give their patients and then she had the audacity to ask me to remove my negative review. I told her that I would NOT remove my review and that my disappointment with their practice was completely justified. I told her that I would like for them to eat half of the costs because I felt like I was blindsided and deceived by their company. If you care about a company being transparent with you, do yourself a favor and don't come here. (I'm aware this entire review makes me look like a total Karen, which is uncharacteristic of me. I've always dreaded going to the dentist because I feel like I don't have the best teeth nor the perfect smile. My husband our 4 kids and just moved to the area from North Fort Worth so I did some reaching and liked what I found about Renken Dentistry and made an appointment. Let me tell you I don't think I've had that good of experience with a dentist in years! Erin was absolutely amazing explaining everything as she took the X-rays and cleaned my teeth. She was very laid back and we even cracked a few jokes making each other laugh. Then came in the dentist Dr. Dizon I was like ugh here we go but nope he was amazing also. We laughed joked he explained my concerns I had perfect and was very honest with me. His treatment plan he thought would be best for me made total sense. I wish I had read the reviews more closely before making my new patient appointment. I went in for my new patient appointment today. There was no one at the front desk to greet me, just an iPad to check in. Brenda the hygienist greeted me, took me back to take a full set of X-rays and scan my teeth for the 3D imaging. She also checked my gums. After she had finished one of the dentists Dr Hansen came in to go over my X-rays and imaging. He provided his recommendations. I asked when I would get my cleaning. I was told I would have to schedule another appointment for cleaning! Brenda said she would put me on the asap list. However, the first available appointment she had was not until mid-July! I can't wait five more months for a cleaning. Brenda was very nice. However, this is the first dental office I have been to where you do not get your teeth cleaned after the X-rays, gum check and before seeing the dentist. If I don't receive a call in the next week or two I will be asking Renken dentistry to forward my X-rays to a new dentist. Finally, when I walked out to leave, there was a lady at the front desk. However, there may well not have been as she did not acknowledge me at all. I am extremely disappointed. I liked Brenda, but my overall first experience was not good. read more

I moved here from out of state and had chosen Renken as the dentist to handle my cleanings and continue my Invisalign treatment. After a few visits I had reached the end of my current treatment plan. I asked them to re-scan my teeth so my Orthodontist could order my next set up aligners. They refused to do it stating they would be taking responsibility and the liability for my treatment. However they were more than happy to suggest paying them to order a whole new set of Invisalign treatement for an additional cost. At some point you would hope your dentist would do what is in the best interest of the customer instead of their bottom line. They have treated me for the past year and knew my situation before confirming a 8am appointment just to waste my time. By the way, you had dead roaches and grasshopper carcasses all over your lobby. Not the best look for a place where people are opening their mouths to hopefully leave cleaner than when they came in. read more

We had to change dentist because of our insurance and were disappointed because we really liked our dental service. Our insurance provider gave us several different dental providers and we called Renken Dentistry. They were so helpful and it was easy to get a convenient appointment. The young lady was so upbeat and pleasant to work with. Everyone in the office was prompt, friendly, competent and explained everything and answered all our questions. Dr Hanson explained options of care, and the video technology is awesome. We just had our teeth cleaned, and It was a very pleasant experience. read more

Fraud! I recently called around to a few different dentist offices to find an in-network provider. Renken was one of the first location I called. I provided them with my insurance information and asked that they check if they are an in network provider. I spoke with Dakota. She was supposed to call me back within a few days. Over a week later I called to check in on the status. She told me that my insurance was in-network. I also asked her what they charge for a new patient and I was quoted around $250. I had also called another location and was told they charge $450 for new patients. I was not immediately pleased with Dakotas lack of communication, but the $200 savings was worth giving them a shot. Fast forward to my bill coming in the mail. $330. I contacted my insurance and they told me the Dentist billed out of network. Even if this was the case, why was my bill nearly $100 over what they quoted? My insurance covered $150 of the visit as well. I called to check and I was told they are out of network and that Dakota (per her notes) quoted my $400 for my visit. This is not accurate. I was lied to and am now stuck with the bill. Do not trust the information they give. Call your insurance company first and get a quote e-mauled to you for confirmation. read more
