Lovely and expansive park in Mountain View that's easy to get to, but not too crowded unlike the other big-name parks like Cuesta. That may change with the brand new playground opening up. I really enjoy this dog park! There is not a separate area for big/small dogs. There's no tunnels or anything it's a big open space. There are chairs and a bench to sit. Lots of tennis balls new and older, I believe due to the tennis court next door. There are poop bags provided and a trash can. The trash can lid gets really hot, so be careful! You put your fingers inside and push to open it, so maybe bring sanitizer. There is a water fountain with cold water, and pretty clean looking/easy to clean water bowls of different sizes. The park itself has a women's restroom that I believe opens at 9am. The restroom is not to far of a walk from the dog area. It has a sink, and mirror as well as seat covers! This is a review of the swim lessons offered by the city at Rengstorff pool. My daughter did a one week summer swim class here. Over the four days, she had 3 different teachers. Her class was a beginner's class with no pre-reqs required and there was no sense to how the class progressed. They were trying to teach her swim strokes before she even knew how to put her head under water. They even told the kids to do cannonballs in the shallow end. I am still undoing the damage by repeatedly telling my daughter she should NEVER dive in the shallow end of the pool and that she does not know how to swim yet and should not be doing cannonballs in the shallow end of the pool. The instructor told me that these classes used to be two week classes and they changed them to one week. My daughter learned nothing at all in the class and the whole summer was already sold out so there was no chance of getting any more classes. She might have had a chance to learn something if the class was still two weeks or if I had known to book 4 or 5 weeks in a row. I've given up on the city classes and have her in a private swim school. It's a shame that the only option open through the city and probably the cheapest option for most has zero chance of teaching kids how to actually swim. read more

Writing about the tennis courts specifically. Pros: * Beautiful during the day. Cons: * Half the courts are used strictly by coaches in the evening seemingly every weekday. * No online reservation system for the public. Newcomers get confused, people lie about how long they've been on the court or slither their way onto another session (sometimes with a ton of people playing doubles that refuse to leave). * Lights are not suitable for tennis, often blinding at specific angles. * Pickleball lines on a couple of the courts can make tennis line calling tricky. * Courts #1 and #5 aren't well lit. * Mountain View decided to paint over graffiti on court #1 with a different paint than the original court surface, so it has uneven play and light reflects off of the 45% paint job during the day. read more

Disclaimer: I have never been to the pool. This park is great to visit, it's enormous and has a ton of amenities - green space, kids playground, tennis courts, and--very unique--Pickleball Courts! I've been here a few times to play Pickeball. There are two courts which have walls on three sides and is open to the walking path nearby. -1 star from the dog park. The dog run is large and has lots of space, but it is full of mulch - there is literally a bench *buried* underneath the mulch. There is also no shade, most of the area is in direct sunlight. My dog had fun running around, but splinters are definitely a concern. The grass area is great for having a picnic. Lots of trees, shade, and a few picnic tables. Parking: There are usually lots of spaces in the North Lot (near Central Expressway). FYI that you cannot turn left on Rengstorff when leaving this parking lot, you have to go North. If you like Lakewood skate park, you'll like Rengstorff skate park. It's located past the kids' playground. It's noisy with all of the metal but that's kind of endearing. Nothing was overly slick, and the concrete seemed okay. There was a half-pipe but there were street and vert parts. read more

Large park with basket ball courts, a pool with a slide, community center, and a skate park. Reservations are required for the picnic area from May 1 to Oct. 1 (don't remember if Oct. or Nov.). The picnic areas have tables and grill, portable grills aren't allowed. Take a copy of the reservation or have it on your phone, the park workers might come by and ask. No alcohol! There was plenty of parking when I got there are 11am. read more

You can reserve a larger group barbecue spot. There are 5 areas, each has it's own grate you can use. The grate was clean and ready when we got there in the morning. It has a sink by the grate in case you need to use. Well equipped for barbecue in my opinion. Price was a little steep, it was around $70 for half day and around $100 for the entire day, alcohol permit was about $50 extra. read more

Great park for kids and adults! This is a large and attractive park. Parking seems to be sufficient on a weekend morning. The park has paved trails, large grassy fields, mature trees, bathrooms (no soap), and multiple playgrounds. There are benches and picnic areas and even exercise equipment for adults. I haven't checked out the pool to comment it, but it likely is good if it is on par with everything else here. Enjoy! read more

For the better part of five years, I lived right next to this place. Rengstorff Park in Mountain View is a good sized park with a ton of amenities including: - numerous grilling areas and benches - wide selection of playground equipment for the kiddies - basketball courts - tennis courts - racquetball courts - paths and trails for running - skateboard ramps - pool - indoor activity center w/ bathrooms - large enough grassy area for a game of soccer - lots of trees and little tucked away areas for privacy On the weekends during the afternoons, it turns into a big Mexican hangout with families grilling, listening to music, jabbering away, kids playing, just one big fiesta for the local Hispanic community. All in all, though a nice community park and I'm ashamed to say that I didn't make use of it more than I did. read more

This park is a nice. I am sitting underneath this gorgeous tree on the wood platform surrounding it, and looking across about 60ft at the pool area, which looks very nice. I am also about 30ft from the community center. There is another building on the grounds that I am unable to tell what it is at the moment. There is a nice atmosphere. The park is clean with several trash cans every where I look..so there no excuse to drop anything on the ground. There is an area for soccer, tennis, barbeque, and other activities. Caltrain runs alongside the park. Parking is both on and off street. We will have to come back here again. read more

I am ashamed given how long I've lived here, that I hadn't been to this park until today. Things it has: everything How fun it is: the most More specifically, it has FOUR (or five?) playgrounds for kids of different age groups, with climbing walls and slides and poles and jungle gyms, tennis courts, squash courts, an adult workout playground area, basketball courts, barbecues for public and permit use, picnic tables, huge expanses of grass, bathrooms, water fountains, a skate park... Really. Literally everything. It made my fiance, who usually refers to children as "proto-humans" say, "It makes me wish we had kids... This would be their Mecca." Too true. read more

We came here for the somewhat hidden dog park behind the tennis courts and were pleasantly surprised by how much room there was for our excited husky to play and run. The dog area is now completely fenced off (with a tall fence over 6 ft if your dog is a jumper) but be careful of the middle gate which leads directly into the tennis courts and that door isn't hinged and is sometimes left open. Overall a cute park and a great area for a puppy play date. read more

i frequently run through this park, and like how the single paved path allows you to see everything this park has to offer. relatively speaking, i'd say this park is pretty big and everything a park should have: playground area, swimming pool, basketball courts, tennis courts, baseball field, lots of grassy areas to sit & play and picnic tables. the proximity to the caltrain tracks can cause a buildup of extra traffic, noise and cars waiting to cross the tracks. and when it's dark (or nearing sunset), i don't feel the safest running through here. but, this is a great place to go for a stroll, have a picnic, or just run through and take in the views. read more

This is a smaller but well laid out park with multiple amenities including: basketball hoops, handball courts, pool, grass areas, BBQ pits, paved paths, play equipment, and even some gym style outdoor equipment for adults and kids alike! If you go in the evening or weekend there is a preschool on the back side which has a beautiful playground that includes some musical play equipment and they leave it open for the community to access when the school is closed. The chimes they have are fun for kids of all ages and give off this "zen" ambiance if you are relaxing around that side of the park. The only downside is noise from the busy street, near the freeway, and the Caltrain that runs directly next to it. read more

My family and I visited the pool today and were pleasantly surprised! We live closer to eagle park and frequent there for family swim days on weekends. We found out today they are closed for recreational swim for the season, and decided to try a new location. The Rengstorff pool was excellent! The staff was friendly and the life guards were very attentive. We were also excited to find they have a "kiddie" pool and a water slide! This is definitely going to be our new go-to spot on weekends! read more

This is the 'central park' of Mountain View and the scenario of multiple paella parties from the Spanish community in South Bay (and I am pretty sure for many other communities celebrating whatever event). You will find plenty of parking on the street and at the designated parking areas, plenty of shade, grass to enjoy a siesta, reading a book or a wonderful picnic during a lazy Sunday. Everything is pretty clean and people are not too noisy, considering that is a park with a large concentration of people who try to enjoy the same things as you! The trees are ancient, so to speak, so you can either hug them or use as support for your reading. Do not forget the blanket, the picnic basket and a good friend. Great park, very safe. read more

I walk my dog here daily. There's an off-leash area for dogs located by the tennis courts. My dog really enjoys this park. I enjoy this park too, however, it can be stressful because at least once a week some holier-than-thou uninformed citizen gets nasty about my dog being off-leash here. This is an off-leash area for people with obedient dogs who are under voice control. To answer the raving lunatic I spoke to yesterday in the park who demanded I show him my 'papers': No, I don't need a permit to have my dog there off-leash. No, I don't have to prove it to you. Contact the Parks Department if you want 650-903-6253 Can't wait for the off-leash dog area to be fenced in so we don't have to keep explaining to people that the off-leash area is an off-leash area. If you can't handle your dog in an off-leash area please take him/her to a different part of the park or learn how to handle your dog. read more

Sadly nearby residents feel unsafe at this park. One woman (a nearby renter at Park Plaza apartments) said she would not go to that park without her husband, another said he would bring his kids there because of the homeless RV encampment that lines Crisanto adjacent to the park. Recently drove down Crisanto, saw groups of adult men hanging out, 50+ RV's line the street. This was not the case 5 years ago, Mountain View city policy has exacerbated the problem, disreputable people are buying old RV's and renting them to the poor, a disservice to the poor. read more

The pool facility is nice --- my daughter loves the twisted slide that shoots swimmers into the water (you have to meet a minimum height requirement to use it), there is also a kiddie pool that is about 2-3 feet deep and picnic areas around the patio area. We've attended the Family Fun night held once a year here in the summer time. It is a lot of fun. The staff plays games with the kids and there are all sorts of swimming activities that go on. My kids have also had swim lessons here which were ok. My biggest problem with this place is the openness of the dressing room facility. There were male children in there who were far too old to be in the women's dressing room and rather curious about the view. When I say too old, I'm talking 8 years old and older! Some were using the community shower right next to little girls. I'm not a prude by any means but, this was not right! Being the mother of a young son myself, I will eventually face the issue of how old is too old to bring my son in such places. This was definitely an eye opener for me. One thing I will definitely do is teach my boy to be respectful enough to not stare and scan the surroundings. When I complained, the pool staff told me they told me they felt powerless to do anything about it. This tells me they were simply not trained to handle such a situation. The last straw came when I caught an adult man peeking into the dressing area. When I asked him what he thought he was doing, he claimed he was looking for his wife. When I offered to retrieve her from the dressing room for him if he told me her name, he made a hasty exit. From that time on anytime my kids have had swim lessons at Renstorff pool we've gone home in wet swim suits then showered and changed. I really think the Mountain View Recreation Department could do a MUCH better job at monitoring the changing areas. read more

This is one of my favorite parks but recently me and quite a few friends had a bad experience on leaving the park with a confusing intersection. While at the park, we watched motorcycle cops pulling over several drivers leaving the park. Carefully managing the intersection, we were surprised when we were pulled over and ticketed as well by two motorcycle cops (my friend was pulled over in tandem with another car and had to wait for the officer to give that person a ticket before ticketing her...) Just wanted to warn moms leaving the park to be very careful because it looks like the police use this confusing intersection to collect tickets. Make sure you don't turn directly into the first lane when you are making a right, because this lane turns into a turn only lane after it crosses the train tracks & if you continue straight through the intersection, there's a good chance you'll end up with a $300 ticket, which can quickly ruin any nice day at the park. read more

This place is awesome. I live about half a mile from here and it is definitely my go to walking place. What I like most is that there are all kinds of people that make use of the park. One day during the summer I saw picnics, people doing tai chi, a dog training classes, several soccer games, a basketball game, people swimming at the pool, kids at the skateboarding at the skate park, and people playing tennis. I have even seen a serious quidditch match or two on the weekends . . . complete with brooms and everything! Definitely check this park out! read more

I've only been here once due to Eagle Pool being closed for some schedule change... This pool is in general pretty far for me to do any daily workouts. So this might be the only time I actually go. I came here during the lunch hour and it was pretty crowded. Crowded enough where you have to stop in the middle of your lap because either 1. Someone is swimming in the wrong speed lane or 2. There is just no room. There wasn't many lanes in the pool to begin with. Maybe at most 6 lanes with the side area for more pleasure swimming. There is a slide available during open public hours I believe and a good area for tanning too. In general, the place is very spacious. More for public swimming since it is also located in the middle of a huge park. All in all, Eagle Pool beats this one! read more

I am writing this review based on the tennis courts only, as they are really the only amenities I have used at this park. That being said, I am thankful to have them around. For open public courts, they are maintained fairly well. The wind nets on the fences do a pretty good job of keeping the wind out of the court, the court nets are in decent shape, the court surfaces themselves are pretty nice without noticeable cracking or uneven areas, and there is lighting so you can play until 10pm at night, which is when the lights turn out. The lights automatically turn off if the buttons aren't pressed within a minute of the warning buzzer, and do keep in mind that at 10pm the lights go out without warning. Heads up if you're in the middle of a point when this happens! The downsides are that is can get crowded with a wait for the courts, especially on days when USTA matches are played (Tuesdays and Wednesdays on courts 5 through 7, 7pm to 9pm, from what I can tell). Get there early if its a work day, and you are only able to keep the court for a maximum of 1 hour if there is a wait (both singles and doubles). There can also be a lot of debris from the trees overhead which can make for slippery and unsafe surfaces. The last thing I would have to note is that I noticed the lighting isn't as good on courts 1, so if you're planning on playing late, I would recommend trying to find another court if possible (unless the lights were just dim and needing to be replaced the last time I was on court 1 at night). Still, I am overall quite happy with these courts as they are some of the nicer free public courts I have played on. read more

This is a wonderful community park. Its got something for everyone. Pool, tennis courts, skate park, childrens play area, BBQ pits, picnic tables, bathrooms, water fountain, community center that can be rented out for big events, generally you can find parking in the large parking lot or on the street. There is no dog park here but it is a great place to walk your dog. JUST A LITTLE WARNING: a lot of young Mountain View thugs and gang bangers come through here so its best not to get in to words with folks over trivial, stupid stuff that in the long run doesn't really matter. You know what I mean? Now keep in mind you can't always tell what a banger looks like. So remember a big part of it is a mindset & attitude. So watchale out there! read more

This park is huge! There are picnic areas, large grass area, playground, pool, basketball courts... something for everyone. I came here to chill under a tree and reach a book and couldn't decide where to located myself since there was so much space to choose from. I came on a weekend and there was a soccer game going on, volleyball game, flag football, etc. - lots of activities and people! Overall, it's a good park to bring your kids, play or have a picnic. Might be a bit crowded on the weekends though especially if it's a nice day. read more

They have an incredible amount of squirrels. Good for a game of kickball. Lots of trees so beware if you're going to fly a kite. The little kids area has these WONDERFUL xylophone toys (outdoor) that make an angelic song that plays throughout the park. So nice! read more

Our company always has an annual picnic/bbq here. We've always had a good time here, although the area we are in has some huge rocks by the tree which a couple people have tripped over. Park is very large, along with a swimming pool as well. There are restrooms, but quite far from the second parking lot area we are always in. Lots of space, large playground, and a huge field to play in as well. read more

A friend and I like to play tennis here. We've never had a problem getting a court, even on the most beautiful days, and there's a fence separating every two courts, so you don't end up with too many balls rolling on your court from strangers. They're tough to find though! They're way, way back in the south corner. read more
