We had a wonderful experience with Renewal by Anderson. There were a few "blips" in the project but our representative handled them with continual communication and professionalism. Everyone was very friendly and kind. We absolutely love our windows and sliding door, which put a smile on my face every time I walk into those rooms. After reading many reviews I was worried about what my experience would be like. This is a review only of the initial meeting and quote, but I am happy to report that our salesman, Mike Lewis, was nice, professional and not at all pushy. We are only getting our sliding glass door replaced. That is what we focused on. He never looked, or asked to look at any of our other windows. I called the company to get a quote to replace 5 large windows and one regular size window, they asked me a lot of questions (who owns the property who is a,b,c are you married etc...) prior to scheduling the appointment. I'm a senior in Leisure World and 2 people showed up and wanted to enter my small apartment (non of the other companies requested that to measure the windows - all one story and easily accessible!) I can't control 2 people in my home (you hear the stories all the time). the presentation was interesting with a lot of statistics made by whom? the quality of the windows looks much better than other products but the sales speech for an hour is unreal. I had other offers for window replacements for around 4 to 6 K but Renewal by Anderson quoted $15,000. I was shocked by the price tack and assumed this is a senior rip off. I talked to my realtor and she stated get a break down and maybe the buyer is interested and we can get a higher price for the condo. I called the sales rep and requested a breakdown and he stated on the phone "NO". I faxed a request to the management and received a call back from the sales rep and he revised the quote to $16,289, offer good for one year, permits not included no breakdown on taxes or labor. I faxed another request to management again and requested the breakdown and the buy 1 get 1 at 50% off, but management told me the discount is only good THAT DAY as per the small fine print in the advertisement. I think their windows will work great and the installation crew certainly dealt with a challenge replacing our old windows with the new thicker ones by doing some wood work then painting it for no charge. They also were careful not to damage my plants that were under some of the windows. So what is my beef? They sent 3 guys to install 7 windows in one day. They stayed till 7 pm without asking if it was OK then had one of the less experience ones come back the next morning and he did what I asked him to but they left sort of a mess. They didn't close the gates at night, left the new windows unclean, left trash on a quilted bedspread and under most of the windows inside. They didn't warn me they couldn't take a credit card for final payment unless I wrote down all my information and give it to the young person the next day. I would have written a check or called the office if I had my wits about me. I was very disappointed in all of this as I was assured they used their own installation crews. When they said they would send someone out to check things out and clean up, he took a few photos, talked a lot, promised they would send someone out to clean the windows then nothing. Not sure it was worth the extra money but the warranty seemed good. We'll see. read more

Didn't even get to them coming out to quote because they refused to come out without both my husband and me being present. I explained patiently that one of us needed to stay with our young daughter, who would not last through a 90 minute presentation. They persisted, saying that the financial commitment would vary and so they needed both husband and wife present. I let them know that I was the sole financial decision maker, the house was in my name only, to no avail. I was then passed to a supervisor. The supervisor commenced with the same scripted response to me identifying myself as the only person that was available for the appointment. I explained again. These guys trespassed my property just to hand me a flyer. Then they used my hose without my permission and left the hose running, which ended up bursting and causing my lawn to flood. If this is how they respect my home when they are asking for my business, imagine how they will be when you hire them. Absolutely disrespectful! I recently called the 800 number after a television commercial. I was asked many questions that I felt were inappropriate but reluctantly answered them. My appointment was then confirmed by a telephone rep. Later that same day I was contacted to confirm my already confirmed appointment and asked to answer all the initial questions again. I told the rep I had already done this and she said if I did not do it again my appointment would be cancelled. Their loss as I am replacing 22 windows with another company. read more

As others have said, the Austin RBA group is rediculous in that they insist that the entire couple must be present for the estimate visit. My wife and I both work and have a family to take care of. To think we will not communicate outside of the sales call is demeaning. I have filed a BBB complaint over discrimination against customers who do not wish to have both present. Even when I offered to pay for the estimate for just me (wife working) they refused. Bad business and poor customer service! Would highly recommend going elsewhere. read more

We are very happy with our new sliding door. Also the rep. they send was very knowledgeable about the product his name was Isais Jimmy. When they installed our sliding door the installers were very professional they knew what they were doing and cleaned up like if they were never here. There names were Omar Martinez and Christian Viera.The only thing was it was very pricey but if you want quality you need to pay for what you get. read more

I'm in the Customer Service business, like most of us. But, I interact, market and manage directly with clients on large projects. I fired these guys before they even came out for the bid meeting. I spoke to three of Andersen's employees to address the issue (which was so minor it was comical). I would have ignored it if they hadn't been so irritated and argumentative with me. As I escalated the issue up their management chain, their attitudes got worse, not better. And they wanted to sell to me? Unreal. read more

These windows are just simply overpriced!!! The fiberex material is nice and they look great but all that means nothing if there not doing what there desined to do. You can purchase an Andersen A-series double hung unit from one of the many retailers and get a higher DP rating on a window that is roughly half the cost. Too many product issues.... read more

I was very disappointed in the customer service I received. A salesperson came to my house for a free quote. He seemed informative and honest. When we were done and me and my husband wanted to think about the price, he kept adding discounts. We signed on because the offer was too good to turn down. I received a letter in the mail a few days later telling me the order was canceled because of "the way it was written". I would have liked more of an explanation? I'm assuming the salesman was not authorized to give us all of those discounts. The right course of action would to honor the price because he is a representative of the company and discipline the employee. read more

This Company kept calling me, leaving a message that stated "thank you for calling, if you know your parties extension you may dial it now. I called to ask them to quit calling me. I was told by their representative that they were calling me because my husband called them 2 days ago......well my husband died 22 months ago!!! You have no idea how horrible that makes a widow feel. So all I have to say about this company is what a bunch of liars they are. High pressure, "used car" tactics (had to call the manager, twice, to work on getting the best deal), extremely obnoxious and belligerent as soon as I said the price was too high...$52,000 for 13 windows. Yes I'm serious, $52,000. Of course after the calls to the manager and throwing in the 'if you pay half down today' gimmick the price dropped, but still ridiculous. And by the time I finally had to walk the 2-man team to the door I wouldn't have purchased anything from them if they'd offered the deal at $200 per window. Buyer Beware. If you need replacement windows and you end up at Renewal by Andersen on Jollyville Rd. in Austin, Tx, do not trust that they are here on behalf of your best interest. The salesman that came to my house supposedly "to give me advice" on what I needed gave me bad advice and now they are trying to hold me responsible for it. He advised a casement window that I will not be able to open because of a row of bushes outside that window. When I realized it, the salesman still wanted me to put it in saying "even if you can only open it an inch, you'll be surprised at how much air you get." The contractor said, "I noticed that you wouldn't be able to open it and I'm sorry I didn't say anything". Fortunately, I did not sign a completion statement because the other window they did put it was put in badly and needs to be redone. The contractor instructed me that he would negotiate with the owner. First offer 1) you pay us the original amount of both windows and we'll only charge you and additional $500 more for a double hung. I said no. Offer 2) You pay us $2140 for the one window we installed and we take the other one away and donate it. I said no and I need an invoice of where these costs are coming from. Today for the first time, the owner, Chris Cashin, left me a message on my phone machine saying he would turn it over to his attorneys and put a lien on my house if I did not contact him by 10AM tomorrow morning. This is the first I have actually heard from the owner. Still no invoice. When I am paying Mercedes prices for window replacement what I expect is that the salesman knows what he's talking about and that I am getting expert advice. I was sold the wrong window. A window I can't open and they are expecting me to pay for it. The window they did put in was put in poorly. The contractor says he will re-install the one window, but that apparently will only happen if I pay them way more than one window is worth. The salesperson was unhelpful and unapologetic. Neither of these two offers have been a constructive or reasonable alternative for me as a consumer. What they want is for me to pay for the window anyway, they take it back, donate it and get the right off. Buyer beware. read more

The reason the salespeople want both decision makers at the home is so they don't waste their time talking to one person. The sales presentation is worth it. Kind of long, but you will learn a lot about windows and be given enough info to do your own research. That being said, I was called several times before the workers arrived to make sure everything was OK, then called several times during the process to check up on things. Everyone worked very hard in hot humid conditions. Structural damage was minimal and everything was repaired exactly or better than it was before. The windows and patio door I had installed are beautiful and very, very high quality. No matter what the competitors say-and they say a lot-they cannot beat Renewal by Andersen. Renewal costs more, but you WILL NOT get better quality, customer service and installation than what I experienced. Worth every penny and I know it increases my home value by twice what I paid. Thank you RBA. One more thought: Any negative info about this company is from the competition. RBA simply cannot be beat. And by the way, I received a beautiful flower arrangement within an hour after they finished the job and left. Who does that? Thanks RBA. Good luck everybody.. read more

We decided to invite several companies that could replace our windows to provide a quote. Even though their quote was the highest we received, we selected Renewal by Andersen (RA) due to their reputation. Our experience however, was very different than their slick videos and brochures depicting years of experience, customer focus, reliable warranty and a seamless/stress-free installation process. After we signed a contract, the customer-focus and any sense of integrity essentially ended. It began by not receiving responses from the sales representative, not being kept informed of the results of the technical measure, not being notified when/if the windows had been ordered, when the installation was planned to occur, and what we needed to do to prepare for the installation day. We had to call the 1-800 to get answers to these questions as opposed to being assigned a POC that walked us through the entire process, which is what we were sold. The disorganization/communication issues continued when we received instructions via text (less than 2 days prior to installation) of how we needed to prepare our home for installation including labor intensive activities such as: moving all furniture at least 7ft away from all windows, removing all art from walls, removing/covering all children's toys, turning off air conditioning, arranging for our son and myself to stay at an alternative location while the work was being done, etc. In full disclosure our home was built in the 1950's and therefore likely has lead based paint, these requirements are related to lead safe work practices. These activities took quite a bit of effort. The installers arrived 2hrs prior to the agreed upon time, they had not read our work order, did not arrive with the needed materials nor were they aware of the existence of lead based paint or how to implement the lead safe work practices that RA spent so much time selling us. They started by removing the exterior/interior trim around our existing windows and began working on the large front window which broke during removal. Once the new front window was placed, it became apparent that the window was 3 inches smaller than the rough opening on all sides and was not the style/trim that we had selected in the sales process/contract. Apparently the person who conducted the technical measure was also unaware of the scope of our contract (full frame replacement windows, not inserts) that we had purchased. We were not given the opportunity to review the measurements nor review the order submitted for manufacture which would have likely led to a much earlier identification of this problem. At this point we tried to call our sales representative (no response) and the 1-800 where we were told that we would have to wait until Monday before we could talk with someone who could help. We then asked the installers to put our house back together, they put up enough exterior trim so at least you can no longer see outside around our windows. After leaving multiple messages, later that day a production manager and a general manager called us back. We had to put all the furniture back so we could sleep/live in our home again. The production manager agreed to come to our home to discuss the options for resolving the situation. He came by observed the state our house was left in, attempted to understand what we were sold verses what we received and committed to get back to us in a couple days with what was going to do to resolve this situation. We waited and waited to hear a response, but did not hear back, not even that he was still working on finding the best solution. We called at the end of that week and requested a full refund and compensation to perform the repairs due to the state that our home was left in. He agreed to provide a full refund and $1K in compensation in the form of a check. We made it very clear that a refund to our credit card was not an acceptable solution. We received an email with receipts that the refund had been issued to our credit cards, exactly the opposite of what we had agreed upon. We called the production manager who stated they he could not issue the check we requested, if he had called us to discuss this situation prior to adding the credit to our credit cards, this may have been better received. We asked to speak with his supervisor where he responded that he did not have his phone number. We contacted the general manager, who when called proceeded to tell us that the refund had been issued, the commitment to issue a refund in the form of a check was not in writing, that our conversation was over and hung up the phone. He was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. We notified the CEO of RA of this experience and received no response, which tells us that apparently this approach (hanging up during a conversation with a customer) is acceptable all the up to the top tier of leadership. read more

Receive solicitations from Andersen at least once a week! Decided to call and ask for an estimate on replacing the windows after going through all the interrogation of who I was, where I was, what I was interested in giving pertinent information and setting up an appointment to get an estimate (on line about 25 mins) then I was informed that my spouse or significant other had to also be present in order for them to come measure my Windows and give an estimate because they wanted to make sure that we were on the same page. I told them I would be the one making the decisions and selecting and if Andersen didn't feel comfortable dealing with "just a woman" they needed to say that so I could move on. Donya assured me that wasn't the case but refused to set up the appointment until my husband could be present (to make the final decision). I told her no thank you. I have been noticing that most of the reviews are by males so I guess they really don't deal with "just a woman". I will not be contacting them again. read more

This company likes to scam it's customers into buying over priced windows. They had a minivan full of kids walking around, at night, knocking on doors convincing people they need to replace their windows. I was concerned with one window but the young man convinced me to let them look at all of my windows. Then I had to talk to a customer service rep on the phone and a supervisor just to get the appointment. Just setting up the appointment alone was annoying. They won't give me a price or ball park figure over the phone because the cost of these windows is ridiculous. The cost to replace 6 windows in my home was close to $30k. I guess this is why they refused to come out unless me and my wife agreed to sit thru a 90 minute high pressure sales pitch. It was a complete waste of our time, my wife is very busy and they insisted. After that they harassed us for two months straight trying to reschedule another appointment. We finally broke down and let them come back out. This time they offered us the exact same windows for 50% cheaper. Why didn't they just offer that to me the first time? Even 15k was way too much! Some friends of ours also had them come by and they experienced the same thing. Its obvious they're more interested in over charging their customer's then helping their customers. The sales rep. told me that the price he was giving me was the lowest price possible then two days letter someone's calling me to offer the same windows for 50% off. Everyone should just act like their not interested and then wait for them to offer it to you for half the price. Considering how much they harassed us, they will call you. I refuse to do business with companies that play games like this. I had to go through way too much just to get a quote for some windows. read more

I should qualify this rating by stating that I was not even given the opportunity to work with the company. After doing some research online i determined I would like a quote on windows. I scheduled the appointment through their website and promptly received a call the following day so schedule an estimate. At the time I was told they prefer both home owners to be present during the estimation process and I informed them that my wife's schedule is very difficult to manage around and we would do our best but she may not be available. Two days prior to the appointment I received a confirmation call at which point I confirmed that my wife would not be available for the appointment. It was at that point the scheduler gave me the speech about how important it is to have both home owners present. I reiterated that we were unable to work out the scheduling and I simply needed an estimate on replacing windows. AGAIN, she told me that they really "can't give me a price" without both parties present. Seriously! You can't provide me with some idea of the cost of your windows unless my wife is there? At this point I indicated that my wife would not be present and we were both comfortable with me making the decision on what type of windows we would like to get an "estimate" for. For the THIRD time this woman pushed back at which point i indicated my wife would NOT be present and I am simply looking for an estimate. If they are not willing to give me one then she could cancel the appointment. I was astonished that she did just that. It's ridiculous that a company would think this is the way to run a business. I would suggest someone at Renewal look up the word estimate. I wonder how the company deals with military families? "Sorry you're spouse is over seas fighting for our country, just let us know when he gets back safely and we'd be happy to give you an estimate on windows". I understand that some companies depend on these hard sales tactics and require everyone present in order to get that signature on the contract. So, at this point I have to assume Renewal simply relies on this type of sales technique and NOT the fact that they can provide a superior product or service. Anyway, as I stated at the beginning of this review, I did not even get the opportunity to work with this company so I cannot speak for the quality of their product. I can, however, speak to the lack of customer service and willingness to even provide a hassle free estimate. And it my mind, if a company can't even get that right I have no idea why they would expect me to spend my money on their products or services. read more

Don't believe the hype! The windows are good but are they twice as good as anything out there? Because they cost MORE than twice the cost of any other window out there. I went through the sales pitch and was told Renewal by Andersen is the ONLY window maker that uses this super special fibrex material for their frames....well guess what Home Depot has a window line by Andersen that uses this very same fibrex material and the windows run 25% the cost or less than those of Renewal by Andersen. Renewal by Andersen sales reps can sell these windows to you but they don't or won't because they do not make 4x the profit. Oh they will call you back when you say "No" to their 3,000 dollar window and offer you the lower "series" of window and they will tell you that although not as fancy with all the features the energy efficiency is comparable. I wish I would have read the reviews before I got involved, the sales tactics are deplorable, they confirm with you (and your spouse - don't even try to have them come out without your spouse present) a 90 minute presentation but they stay for close to double that, then they hit you with an absolutely outrageous price for the windows before dropping the price several times. And yes they do end on a "buy today only" special discount that ends the minute they walk out the door which has been so readily written about on here. It's not the way to do business and with a product that is as good as they say it is they should not have to try to do business that way. Do yourself a favor and read the reviews on here and elsewhere, do your own research on windows. Trust me I did not need a 3+ hour presentation bashing every product out there to realize what a good window is or can be. I wanted energy efficiency first and foremost, despite what they tell you there are plenty of products out there that are durable and will accomplish this without having to take out a second mortgage on your home to afford. Avoid these over priced windows unless of course you just happen to have a fortune in the bank that you will never be able to spend in your lifetime. Not worth the money not worth the time investment to find out they are not worth the money. read more
