    Insulting, disrespectful flyer sent to me via USPS.

    I wasn't going to take the time to leave a review until Renewal by Andersen returned to my house over a year later, after I chose a different company that already replaced my windows, and left a flyer in my mailbox stating that my (brand new) windows are an "outdated style" and "not energy efficient". Regarding quality of my windows, their helpful flyer had a "frowny face". The interesting thing is this flyer was mailed to my house and looks like the "inspection" results handwriting was pre-printed on the form as if everyone probably gets the same analysis and cute little frowny face. I doubt anyone was even at my house to inspect my windows. Ok, Renewal by Andersen here we go: 1) if you want to talk about an "outdated style" let's talk about your "one size fits all" frames that are VERY wide and tacky looking. On smaller windows you end up with more frame than window. And you KNOW that customers won't like that because you make them acknowledge in your contract that they are aware that the frames are wider than normal--something that really means nothing until you actually see them in person and it's too late. I'll take my "outdated style" that offered various frame widths based on the size of window being replaced over your ugly looking bulky frames that cover up much of the surface area of the glass. But thanks for your "expert opinion". 2) the "outdated" windows that I had put in instead of your bulky, overpriced ones are Energy Star rated and since I've already had a full season to compare, I can see with verifiable lower utility usage that they are indeed energy efficient. The fact someone in your company decided to tell me mine are not tells me your people know nothing about windows. Now regarding the process that I went thru with Renewal by Andersen. Your commercial that claims a no pressure sales process is also fake news. The estimate starts with an outrageously high amount that miraculously gets lower for a variety of "todays specials" leaving the new amount being... ridiculously high. Then your salesman gives an additional discount "if you sign tonight". To me... that's high pressure, not sure what you'd call that. Then when one makes it clear that they are only signing to not lose the extra discount knowing there's a high chance they'll be canceling in three days, "can't you just honor the discount for a few days so we don't have to go thru the hassle?" the answer is "no". More high pressure I assume because you know a certain percentage will not want to go thru the trouble of canceling? Then when one does cancel, not only because the sales guy was apparently too busy with family matters to provide an itemized breakdown as requested, the otherwise nice sales guy that I was completely civil and respectful to even as he told me about his life struggles, replies that "Renewal by Andersen's high end windows target a particular class of customer and they're not for everyone" and ends the email with a snarky "Stay warm!". Note to him: it wasn't an issue about me not being able to afford R by A, it was that neither he nor the company successfully showed the value. Is the class of customer he's referring to those who take zero time to investigate options and just go with the first company they call? Then he's right, that ain't me! Then after cancellation, after I was earlier assured that my "sign that night" offer was the best possible price, I get a phone call asking me if they can send out an engineer because "many times they can do a more detailed analysis and find other ways to save money". Seriously?!? It was also curious that you claimed many of my "stool / apron" or windowsills needed to be replaced (additional charge) and that my shutter frames I had on every one of my nearly 30 windows would have had to have been completely removed by someone else other than you (that I had to arrange) before you would install my windows. Not an easy or cheap feat not to mention my initial professional installers took a long time to get them perfectly installed / level. Come to find out, the company that replaced my windows did not need any of the shutters to be removed. And zero of the sills needed replacement as none had any damage. Had I gone with you and foolishly hired and paid someone extra to unnecessarily remove (and replace) my shutters can you imagine how awkward it would have been trying to live in a house for days if not weeks with nothing covering the windows????? You also informed me that you do nothing with alarm systems and that I would have had to schedule my alarm company to come out and reinstall the sensors--the company I used did all of that, too, without me having to schedule yet another thing around a window replacement. The attached flyer, totally insulting my intelligence, is what prompted me to finally write this one star review that you deserved over a year ago.

The products and installation were generally professional, but important gaps only surfaced once decisions became final -- when flexibility was gone and costs shifted to me. For context, this project included a bedroom patio door, a side entry door, and replacement windows. This review isn't about bad intent. It's about where education and expert confidence end -- and where homeowners need to slow down and verify assumptions. The videos genuinely help level up homeowners. They explain terminology and common pitfalls and make the process feel clear. Where that education can fall short is when theory meets real-world constraints. Understanding products at a high level doesn't guarantee those choices will translate cleanly once manufacturing begins. The first gap I encountered involved usability. I replaced wood doors with fiberglass doors and assumed hanging blinds would be straightforward. I later learned fiberglass doors with foam cores don't provide the same structural support as solid wood, and traditional blind mounting can be risky unless planned around limited wood blocking. By the time this became clear, the doors were already ordered. Internal blinds would have been the safest solution, but that decision must be made before manufacturing. After raising the issue, I learned internal-blind glass units were available, but only in double pane -- not triple pane -- and without laminated options. I would have been paying to move from triple pane to double pane to solve a usability issue that hadn't been discussed earlier. I declined. The issue wasn't that tradeoffs exist -- it was how late they became visible. Another issue surfaced during installation. An existing storm door was removed, and I learned mid-install it would not be reinstalled. That had not been discussed during sales or measurement. The lesson for me: if something matters, confirm it explicitly before installation begins. Install day is where risk largely shifts to the homeowner. After the crew left, I noticed drywall damage, sealant contacting finished surfaces, debris inside and out, a damaged sprinkler head where materials were staged, and cigarette butts in the yard. Some items were addressed later; others required additional time and expense. The patio door also required adjustment and still does not open and close cleanly. I was told the next step may involve shaving material off the door -- an example of how fixes can escalate once installation is complete. My primary concern for the bedroom patio door was security and sound. Based on that, I was advised to go with triple pane. Living with the result, sound performance has not met my expectations. Laminated glass, which was not discussed during sales, is generally considered superior for both sound and security. After raising concerns, I learned the manufacturer does not publish specific sound performance ratings for its door assemblies. The recommendation appears to have been based on industry convention rather than product-specific testing. When I revisited the issue, the recommendation was affirmed and third-party solutions were suggested. When performance isn't clearly tested or measured, it becomes difficult to know whether the product was the best fit -- or whether the outcome simply falls short. If I were starting over, I would validate real-world usability early, confirm important details in writing, treat the measurement appointment as the last true decision point, ask what is tested versus conventional, and actively inspect install day before the crew leaves. The videos and guidance are helpful, but they don't replace pressure-testing assumptions before decisions harden. If nothing else, I hope this review helps turn a private loss into public wisdom for the next homeowner navigating this process.

    When I decided to replace my windows, I could not find a company that would just sell me the…read morewindows. They all wanted the installation. I contacted Dave Traynor at window connection. He took my measurements and even came out to check all my measuresments. Not knowing windows, I was way off on alot of them. When the order was conplete he had an Installer deliver them and help me store all the windows in my garage. The Installer left me his personnal cell number, and said if you have any problems just give me a call. He guided me through every step of the process. Only had the weedends to work on them. Im sure he was on his personnal time, but always answerd my call and promply returned any text. My windows turned out great. I cannot speak for their installation, but I can assure you the knowledge and passion he displayed for his job they will do a fantastic job. I do not recommend installing them yourself. It is alot of work. Also I can say without a doubt, replaceing your windows is the best improvement you can do to your home. It will make a world of difference in your electric bill as well as the comfort inside your home. I would recommend these guys to anyone looking to replace their Windows. Dave will take very good care of you.

    The day after Christmas there was an attempted burglary at my home that resulted in a broken…read morewindow. I called out a window replacement company that is owned by someone I know but they only do full window replacements and they do not normally do glass installation. Overnight it occurred to me that rather than do an entire window replacement I could simply have the pane replaced that was broken so I called Lone Star Glass & Aluminum after finding them in a Google search. The woman who answered the phone had a very flat affect and did not seem very friendly, in fact I she came across as annoyed. She told me they couldn't get anyone out until the next Tuesday, as Monday New Years Day, then asked me what size the glass was that needed replacing. I gave her the dimensions and she paused then let me know it would be $180 for that piece of glass to be installed. I told her that it had to be replaced as soon as possible, and if the following Tuesday was the soonest they could come then I guess that would have to work. Later that same afternoon, the earlier mentioned full window replacement guy came by to give me a quote to fully replace the entire window grouping, and he also said he could likely send someone by earlier to replace the glass if I went and bought the pane, the plastic trim, and had everything ready for their person. Since the temperatures were going to be below freezing for the following few days I said yes please come and install it, and went to buy the glass, which cost me about $60. As rotten luck would have it, they weren't able to come fix it after I bought the glass, so I just held on to it until Tuesday when Lone Star had said they could come out. On Tuesday morning (the first day they were open since I bought the glass) I phoned Lone Star and spoke to the same woman with whom I had originally scheduled my appointment. I told her I had a friend who had offered to install the glass if I purchased it but that it didn't pan out and asked if they would have any issue with installing the glass that I had purchased. She said that she thought that would be fine and took down my phone number. When the workman from Lone Star came to install the glass he was very pleasant, and he got right to work. In less than 20 minutes he had the broken glass out, the new glass in, and the work looked good. He told me he'd come back in a couple of days to scrape off the residual putty after it dried. No problem up to here, but then he gives me the bill...$180. To say I was surprised there was no discount for me supplying the glass and plastic bead would be the understatement of the century. I was not expecting a lot, but figured that $50 off wouldn't be unreasonable since Lone Star saved time on labor (they didn't have to measure and cut the glass on-site), and they had zero material costs except for some glass putty. I asked him about it and he told me that the glass only cost about $10 when they install it - I'm thinking "So give me $10 bucks off" but I didn't say anything to him; I decided instead to call the office after he leaves. When I called, I again get the same woman I spoke to the previous two times I called in. I told her that I was unhappy that there was no discount for providing materials and she offers several items: 1.) She says she thought they were doing me a favor by using my materials, says most companies won't do that. 2.) Says that the amount of glass they used was worth about $5. (I have no way of knowing who's telling the truth about that but I've now been told $10, then $5 for the cost of the glass installed). 3.) Says they can't send a workman and a truck out for less than their minimum charge 4.) Abruptly asks me how I want to pay for the service, which I thought was exceptionally rude of her when I'm presenting a complaint. I told her I had already given the workman a check. For kicks, let's say that the monthly expense to operate the work truck the man was driving is $700, and let's assume he makes $30/hr including benefits. Let's further assume he does 8 glass installations per day which are only at the minimum charge of $180. Assuming 20 work days per month, the truck costs $35/day to operate which means that if he had spent a full hour at my house the cost would have been $65 in hard costs to the business to have him here. He was here for about 30 minutes but let's disregard that use round numbers: 180-65=$115 profit. So service call profit is around $105 per call after labor, or $16,000/mo. They aren't exactly losing money as the woman would have you believe in her third point above. I am appreciative that they installed my glass because it would have been a waste for them to not have used it, but I think it's unfair to expect me to pay the same amount when I actually saved them money by getting their guy to his next job faster. Bottom line: Great installer and workmanship, terrible customer service.
