5 stars is not enough. I wish a large constellation were available as that's how many stars Dave Schmidt and Josh should get! I was in a panic when it was discovered that I had a leak....somewhere on 5 acres. It was an urgent matter as our house was on the market and I was sure that 1) I couldn't find anyone to find the leak, and 2) that even if I found someone, it would take weeks to get them out. Renew Plumbing to the rescue!! Dave came out that morning and walked the property to try to determine where the water lines were, which was no small feat as the house had been built in 1970. He then hooked up his extremely expensive equipment to run gases (I think nitrogen and helium) into the lines and then used a special gas detector to find the source of the leak since helium is lighter than air and floats up. All signs pointed to the leak being under the asphalt driveway and Dave was very confident of the specific spot. We had a concrete cutting company come out and cut the spot while the emergency location services came out to mark electrical, phone, etc. Dave said he didn't have time to dig, but if I could find the pipe, he would be back later on. Teamwork makes the dreamwork. We dug exactly where he said we should find the leak and 30" down, there it was! Wow was I relieved when I saw Josh pull up 3 hours later. He's a strong guy and was able to dig around the pipe and deal with some of the roots. 30 minutes after that, Dave shows up. I wanted to hug them both...and I did. They were incredible. Beyond impressed with their dedication to helping a customer is an understatement. They fixed the leak and were there until 6pm to make sure all was okay. In this day and age to find folks so good at their craft and focused on customer satisfaction is rare, but if you need a plumber, especially if you have a mystery leak....Renew Plumbing is who you call. Dave at Renew Plumbing definitely provides the WOW! factor. His clients must be awesome as well. We came back to our house to discover a broken pipe under the house and another break at the shut off valve coming into the house. Not a happy situation at 3pm on a Friday. Got hold of Dave (this was our first experience with Renew) who was immediately sympathetic to our emergency issue. He said he would contact his next customer who had a non-emergency issue to see if she mind a reschedule. Five minutes later he called back--he would be at our place in 30 minutes! He assessed the problems quickly and accurately. He clearly knew what he was doing and did his work professionally - no mess. His van was well stocked. At he site of the valve problem, Dave replaced a previous repair done with a Shark connection with a soldered copper connection. This was not easy as the the pipe must be dry and that takes time. He was evident that he does things the right way even when that means the harder way. We are obviously very happy with the service Dave rendered and would call him again with any plumbing issue, but there is more to this guy than a technically excellent plumber. He actually considers the ramifications of your home's entire plumbing layout and potential needs and issues. Dave gave us more useful information about how to prevent future problems than we've been given by all other plumbers combined in the past 25 years. It was like having a top notch plumbing consultant give you a primer on what to do and not to do when trying to maintain your pipes in this difficult Central Oregon winter climate. My 14yo gas water heater was leaking slowly from the overflow valve and while I probably could've replaced the valve, the age of the appliance told me it was time to go ahead and get it replaced. I wanted tankless, but after researching I wasn't so sure. After finding Renew online and seeing the great reviews, I gave David a call. He got all the specifics of my situation and agreed - a standard, newer, and more efficient tank heater would be the better choice for my 1965 ranch home. On the day of install, even though he wan't technically late, he left a message saying he was running a little behind - always a smart move and much appreciated. He made short work of the replacement and even re-routed my cold water intake so it was cleaner and the valve was easier to access. He also updated the gas line right at the tank to bring it up to code and also provide an easily accessible shutoff valve. The vent was also updated - all within the quoted price. I could have installed a new heater myself and maybe even found someone a little cheaper, but for the convenience, extra warranty, and attention to detail that David provided I feel I definitely got my money's worth at this point. read more

Simply put, Dave was awesome. This was genuine, straightforward, honest and expert service like you just don't see anymore. We were in a bind. Another plumber had left us hanging the day before. A three day weekend was looking like it would be full of stress. On a Sunday, when typically no one is available and if they are they double their price, Dave drove out to the rescue. My water heater stopped working one morning. Several calls to plumbers I worked with before in the area resulted in busy schedules with a wait time of 1-1/2 to 2 days. I called Renew and Dave had a full schedule but was in my area and would drop by to have a look. While I waited, he contacted the water heater manufacturer about the problem and if the part was still under warranty. When he arrived he verified the part was truly defective, had a replacement part, proceeded to replace the part and completely clean my water heater internally and externally. I was expecting him to look, schedule a visit and leave. As you can see I was very pleased with the result of having a functioning and inspected water heater. So, David is amazing! I have used so many plumbers in my life and he just runs circles around them. I had a leak and even though he was booked for the entire day, he still found time to squeeze me in, so my tile floor and drywall ceiling underneath did not continue to get ruined. Dave and crew are awesome! They have completed many projects at our older home and they have always come out perfect. Dave is the first plumber I've called since living in Bend and the only one I will call in the future! I called him on a Monday fed up with my kitchen sink that wouldn't drain correctly and within an hour he was at my house assuring me that he would fix the problem. It ended up being a pretty severe clog which required him to go under my house and ultimately he tracked it back to my bathroom. After fixing that problem he also let me know that the pipe under the sink was straight and in order to have the water flow best it should be at an angle so he proceeded to cut the pipe and reattach it at an angle for no extra charge. We were installing a new gas oven in our home. However, the placement of the existing gas line prevented the oven from fitting in our kitchen. Dave answered his phone on Saturday July 5th (none of the other plumbers I called did) and came out right away on Monday. My wife and I own a rental house in Bend and live in Portland. Our tenant called to report that he found a wet spot on our finished garage ceiling, located below the master bathroom. We searched Yelp and found good reviews for Renew Plumbing. Our tenant called Dave and he responded quickly. Dave gave a rough estimate over the phone but charged less because he only needed to cut a hole in the sheetrock and tighten a shower drain. No parts were required. I found out that I needed another plumber to come in and fix something in my bathroom that was left a mess from the last contractor, so I called Dave and he showed up within hours on the same day! I was convinced it needed to be replaced but when Dave arrived he looked at the existing faucet and discussed the option of fixing it. When I had a plumbing issue I called several long time plumbing companies in Bend whom I have used in the past. One company said they could respond in a week and a half and the company said it would 5 days to get someone to respond to my issue. i called renew plumbing last winter to come out and replace my water heater because it no longer was working. this was during the everything is freezing period.
