Church of Smoke BBQ - Smoked Brisket Philly says hi

Two of us chose this place - and we weren't disappointed! I ordered the BBQ Crunch Wrap with brisket, cole slaw, crispy onions and something else I can't remember right now. It was super tasty and was just the right amount to fill me up. The smoky bang bang dipping sauce was wonderful and I wish I'd asked for more (next time I will!) because it was the perfect compliment to the brisket. My friend ordered the same thing but with the pulled pork; she said it was very good, too. Church of Smoke BBQ is located in the Canby Beer Library, one of 7 food trucks. Ordering was easy and the cashier was friendly and helpful. Street parking is available along with inside and outside eating areas (the outside area is covered and has overhead heaters for those chilly days). I'm looking forward to the next time I can try something else from their menu... as long as it has that smoky bang bang sauce!

I was tempted by a lot of different menu options, but ended up with the Smoked Brisket Philly. It came on a nicely toasted sourdough baguette; and was loaded with smoky & tender chunks of brisket, provolone cheese *and* cheese sauce, and jalapenos (menu says "banana peppers). Despite being on the messy side, the bun held together really well, and it was quite delicious -- definitely take the fork that they offer you when you pick up your food, LOL. The sandwich went great with the stout beer I ordered from the beer library. This is the best cart that I've tried at the CBL, and I would definitely order from them again!

I'm new to Canby, and this is my first negative experience here, which is disappointing…read more I placed a simple, single-item order and was given a pager. A large family ordered after me, and while we were all waiting, we were standing within a car's width of each other, close enough to hear everything. During that time, they were openly making comments about my body. It was loud enough to hear clearly. I ignored it, expecting at least a normal ordering process. When a pager went off, all of us kind of looked around at each other because we knew I had ordered first. It turned out to be theirs. They seemed confused for a second too, then realized it was their order, and the whole group burst into laughter and started making more comments, pointing out reasons why theirs would be ready before mine. Their entire large order was then served before mine, even though they ordered after me. Mine still wasn't ready. I went up to the window because my pager was flashing but never beeped, and was told it still wasn't done. I stepped back and waited near the window. A few minutes later, the cook came up, looked directly at me in a way that felt off, and then shut the window in my face without saying anything. No update, no acknowledgment. I stood there another 7-10 minutes while the same group was already sitting and eating. If it had just been the comments from other customers, I could have ignored it. If it had just been the order timing, I could have brushed it off. If it had just been the interaction at the window, I could have let it go. But all three happening together made this a bad overall experience and left me feeling unwelcome. At a minimum, I expect orders to be handled fairly and some basic communication. That didn't happen here. Because of how this played out, I didn't even feel comfortable eating the food right away. That's not a good feeling to leave with after ordering a meal.

Review: Legit Smashburgers and a Gem of an Atmosphere!…read moreRating: We had a fantastic Saturday night at Poundtown Smashburger! The cart is perfectly situated at the end of the pod near a cozy outdoor heater, which was exactly what we needed for a chilly January evening. As the wife of a "social media burger celebrity," I can confirm these are legit smashburgers. For those who don't know, a proper smashburger isn't just a flat patty; it's a ball of fresh beef smashed once onto a screaming-hot griddle to trigger the Maillard reaction. This creates those signature "lacey" crispy edges and a deep caramelized crust while locking all the juices in the center. Our order was spot on: Double Smash with Bacon and Jalapeño: Perfectly seasoned with that aggressive sear we look for. OG Burgers: At $4.00, these are an absolute steal in 2026. No customizations needed--they are perfect as-is. The Bun: A major standout! It was a soft, locally sourced brioche that held up beautifully to the juicy patties without getting soggy. Beyond the food, the atmosphere at The Beer Library is incredible. The renovation of the old library is stunning--it's modern and cozy with a fantastic selection of brews. It truly feels like a neighborhood gem. All in all, a great experience and great service --we will definitely be back!

It was a little messy to eat so we had to use a fork but thats OK because the flavor was outstanding. The real star of the show were the wild fries.
