A long time ago, in a land far, far away (before Covid), I was introduced to Chop Chop Chicken Sundaes via their mobile food truck. My previous employer would pay for food trucks to bring lunch for all the employees a few times a month. I'm Asian and could LIVE off of chicken and rice, even if it wasn't necessary! I generally like my food plain, without a lot of extras. I had planned to get just the chicken and rice, with no other toppings. "You've got to get the gravy!" the owner said. "The gravy makes it!" Chop Chop Chicken Sundae! Say that fast 10 times... lol. This is a mobile food truck that has a schedule on their website. They are however working on a store front. During the self isolation it was nice to see that mobile food trucks were driving into different areas of town so people could get some variety in their food supply. I have never tried this one and let me tell ya.... it's a good one! Basically you pick either chicken (mild teriyaki marinated) or tofu, they had rice if you like and then you choose your toppings from a list. They can top it with their "chicken gravy" to take it over the top. They serve it in a cute Chinese takeout container. There are two sizes to choose from. They had homemade lemonade for a drink also. I tried the chicken and added some bean sprouts, Pineapple, cilantro, cheddar cheese, almonds and of course the chicken gravy which I highly recommend It didn't disappoint and was absolutely delicious! Ok this was built up more than what delivered. I was concerned I wouldn't get enough chicken in my size regular $11.00 chicken Sundae that was going to have NO Rice and No crunchy Asian noodles. We decided on this place because of the GF and Vegetables options. I also decided on all the options because of another review excluding the 2 items above. Yes I got the Gravy because the lady taking my order suggested it. Well when I got my order, I dressed it with Sweet chili sauce and upon mixing I noticed it was full of rice!! Went to the one at Bridgeport. Got a make yourself salad and it was all mixed together like a bowl of mush. Quinoa, tofu, cucumber, egg. Had no flavor at all even though the tofu was supposed to be "chipotle lime". Choked it down because $11 and hungry. Also got a thai basil green tea with stevia. Had nothing sweet about it, and tasted like basil water. Asked employee if it was supposed to taste sweet and they said yes. Yum! I had my first chicken sundae today and it was SOOO GOOD! I met the food truck in North Portland, and they were so nice and super helpful. The menu was all gluten free! Gluten free gravy, gluten free crispy mein noodles, even. I highly recommend. I want to visit their main storefront in Bridgeport Village soon. This way missed the mark. It's an interesting idea, but the flavors were just not there. The chicken had no teriyaki flavor. At all. So my order of stir-fry-type vegetables to go along with it were not enhanced at all by their recommendation of adding the chicken gravy topping, which is far better suited for rotisserie flavors and mashed potatoes than stir fry type rice and veggie blend. Got the works.... For using all the ingredients it blended pretty well. It's comparable to a chicken salad. Light, healthy and very flavorful. While Chop Chop Chicken Sundaes is different, which is something I tend to give higher marks for, I think it falls a little short of what I would give a 4. Only left one star because the container was a great idea. Tasted like rubber sponges and mush. You can tell when a place purchases cheap, frozen, Dollar Tree foods, and this is obviously the case here. There is absolutely zero flavor, whatsoever. None. The chicken was terrible, the rice was terrible, the cheap pre-shredded cheese was terrible, the only thing I enjoyed was tasting the Cilantro.
