Moved to TX and needed a new dentist. Thankfully, I don't have much trouble with my teeth so I just needed a good cleaning. I made an appt and was pleased they were open on Saturdays. Staff seemed friendly enough but this place gave me an uncomfortable feeling when I got there as it seemed to have too many bells and whistles. Its the kind of place that has tv's everywhere and give out electric toothbrushes at the end of your visit. Focused more on impressing than great dental work. After getting something like 20 x rays, I go in for my cleaning and I find the hygienist doesn't do this, the dentist does. I get in the chair and the dentist comes in and just by eyeballing my teeth he seems to think I have 10 cavities. Then he starts digging painfully into my teeth with the scraper and says he is cleaning them. He leaves after telling me there will be a treatment plan. The hygienist brushes my teeth and says the front desk will come talk to me about a treatment plan. I tell her no thank you, I am not doing any further treatment today and will leave. She takes me to the front desk to check out and the front desk staff insist I talk to them about my treatment plan and what the dentist recommends for my "10" cavities. She then asks me if I want a spin brush and gives me a 6 mo follow up card with a date and time that was not told to me or agreed upon with me beforehand.
So here are my major issues: I know my teeth, and while I can concede I may have 1 cavity, I know I dont have 10. I had an orthodontist try to pull this on me in the past, and my regular dentist explained that many dentists now see staining and dont really poke at the tooth or investigate if there is actually a cavity. So these rip off dentists try to charge you and your insurance company hundreds or more dollars for unnecessary work. Just be diligent! I last had a checkup at the end of 2017 and was perfectly fine. No way in 18 months did I take such bad care of my teeth that I suddenly have 10 cavities. Especially since there is no history in 30 years of my teeth being cavity ridden.
Secondly, this is minor but the cleaning was not a cleaning. There was no flossing or actual polishing. Other places I have gone floss your teeth, scrape your teeth, inspect your teeth, brush your teeth, and then spray with a baking soda spray to polish them. Then the dentist comes in for a quick look. I left here in pain and not feeling like my teeth were clean.
This place is a rip off and just want $$$. I saw other people coming in with their kids and I just knew they were being charged for stuff they didnt need. read more
