They have *always* been fair and trustworthy. Before using Vanderveer, I had used various garages up and down Route 9. I'm sure that in those days I sometimes (often?) ended up paying for service that wasn't needed. But at Vanderveer Pete explains my options, and always tries to save me money. The expertise of Pete and his mechanics is unequaled. Here's one example, of many: Recently I had a check engine code on my 2002 Honda which said the problem was caused by a faulty distributor. But Pete described an experience he had many years ago where similar symptoms were caused by the alternator. He offered me the choice of replacing the distributor or the alternator. Having been impressed with Pete's expertise in the past, I went with his suggestion of replacing the alternator. That did the trick. The car ran great after that. The fact that the car had the original 18 yo alternator helped to make it a pretty easy choice - I had been thinking of replacing it just out of caution. But the fact remains that Pete was right in his diagnosis. You don't get that level of experience or expertise at just any garage. In regards to my recent experience with the repairs performed on my truck. Unfortunately, my experience has been the complete opposite. From the beginning, I have had to return my truck multiple times because the work was not completed with the level of care and attention I expected. After my initial repairs, I chose to bring my truck back for scratches that I chose to have fixed on my own accord. While I was there, I asked about having my decals installed. I was assured the shop would take care of them, but they were installed incorrectly. I then had to purchase an entirely new set of decals at my own expense which I had no issue doing providing they'd be done correctly again in good faith, postpone my appointment for my aftermarket parts, and rearrange my schedule to return yet again so the paint marks and decal issues could be corrected. What concerns me most is the repeated lack of care shown toward my vehicle. These were not isolated mistakes--they reflect a pattern of carelessness and disregard for both the quality of the work being performed and the time and money I have invested. Having to return my truck twice to correct preventable issues has been frustrating and unacceptable. To make matters worse, I made one very specific request: please do not wash my truck, as it had recently been professionally tinted. This request was clearly communicated and should have been simple to honor. Instead, it was completely disregarded, and my truck was washed anyway. As a result, I now have to pay to have my window tint redone--an expense and inconvenience that exists solely because my instructions were ignored. At every step, I have been the one inconvenienced. I have had to take additional time out of my schedule, make multiple trips back to the shop, delay other appointments for my truck, purchase replacement decals, and now pay to have my tint redone--all because of preventable mistakes and a lack of attention to detail. I trusted this shop with my vehicle based on its reputation, but instead I have experienced repeated examples of poor workmanship, disregard for my explicit instructions, and unnecessary inconvenience. While I understand that mistakes can happen, the number of preventable issues and the costs they have caused me extend far beyond what any customer should reasonably be expected to accept

I had an atypical experience at Autolenders, but one that still needs to be shared. My wife and I…read morewere in the market for a used car, after searching for a week at various new and used car dealers we found ourselves on Route 37 in Toms River doing the classic dealer shuffle. We walked around the lot at Autolenders and didn't really see anything that we really liked that was in our price range (we were looking for a luxury car with 60-80 miles), Autolenders had some nice vehicles but the mileages were low and the price a just bit out of our reach. As we were about to leave, our salesmen, Bill S. said, "hang on, I just received a car in a trade-in and I think you might like it." He brought the car out, a gorgeous jet black 2006 BMW 525i in near Mint condition. The car was making a weird noise and had a sensor malfunction lamp lit on the dash. My wife and I informed Bill that we really did not want to a car that has any problems, as our last vehicle broke down and left us in the lurch. Bill S. assured us that they were only brake sensors and that if I wanted the vehicle, the sensors would be taken care of. I should state now, this was an AS-IS (no warranty) vehicle and not part of Autolenders usual business model, which is low mileage vehicles off of their first lease, usually 2-5 years old. We took the car home for the evening on a trial, (we almost walked away, but we figured, why not). The car was fine, the night we had it, (the brake sensor light is on the entire trial). The next day, we brought the car back and were prepared to make an offer. We would buy the car as long as all the lights on the dash were taken care of. The General Manager Stratis M. informed me that all would be taken care of and the car would be ready tomorrow. When I picked up the car and drove it off the lot, the brake sensor lamp lit right back up! I immediately brought the car back and told Stratis that this was unacceptable. Stratis agreed and had his in-house mechanic take a look at the vehicle to determine what was wrong. I was told that it was not the brake sensors as before, but a Steering Angle Sensor in the ABS braking system that was malfunctioning. As I stated previously, I never checked the codes on the dash and took Autolenders at their word that it was only the brake sensors. With this in mind I was told that it was the first time anyone there had seen such an error with the vehicle. As the vehicle was AS-IS it would not be covered, as it was not detailed in the signed contract. Of course, this was upsetting, so I voiced my concerns to Autolenders cooperate headquarters via an email. Within the hour Stratis called me and asked me to return as soon as possible so he could address me and my wife concerns. While driving the vehicle in the day which took place in the interim, the BMW overheated while driving down the highway (pulled over waited five minutes and drove the next day with zero issues, faulty water pump). Now, I am scared of this vehicle! Returning to Autolenders the next day, Stratis informs me again that it is an AS-IS vehicle and is entitled to nothing under law. He then informs me that after speaking to the owner of the company, Mr. Brad Wimmer, Autolenders has decided to undertake the cost of the Steering Angle Sensor Repair, just out of loyalty to a customer! Unfortunately, but understandably, they would not be able to cover the cost of the faulty water pump. Even here though Stratis said he would work with me to get the repair down in-house for as cheap as possible. Let me stop here and address the obvious, yes, Autolenders might have known about the steering angle sensor the whole time, but I highly doubt it. I was a medic for six years in the ARMY and served two tours in Iraq, during that tenure I got to know people pretty well, and it's not hard to spot a liar. And even if, the point is mute because they repaired it with OEM parts and even lent me a "lot car" for a week so I didn't have to splurge for a rental again ($300 savings). The water pump issue only occurred once in three day of driving so I am positive that they were ignorant of that as well. After a few days, the new sensor and water pump we put in and the total cost of the repair was a little over $1200, roughly the same price I was quoted at the dealer, though I am sure it would have been about $1500-1800, when it was all said and done over at BMW. I have to say that when buying a used car you always expect issues, and this BMW certainly has more than a few . At the end of the day a few lessons have been learned, the first being, never, ever buy a European luxury car for more than $5000 without a warranty! Just not worth the risk unless you're a mechanic. The second is that I would most assuredly return to Autolenders to purchase another vehicle.

Travis told me. "It's out on a test drive with another customer and if it doesn't sell, I'll get back to you." I was standing right next to it (while they claimed it was currently out on a test drive). I was ready to buy that day, but glad I didn't. And no, it hadn't just come back. I had been there for a couple of hours inspecting it before calling him. I got the deal I wanted elsewhere. I'm all for the nature of the business and the fact that they need to max profit and the customer max savings. But when there is bold-faced lying, that's when I walk. If you want a deal, do not go into this or any dealership at all. Do it all in writing and force them to give you the best OTD price in writing (itemized). All of the "Can I get you coffee?" while they disappear for 20 minutes at a time, is old-fashioned and stupid. There are now even AI agents that will negotiate for you under a bogus e-mail address, to start the process. Don't fall for the "schedule an appointment" nonsense. It's all a stupid tactic. In writing, get the OTD price, take it with you, then do the test drive, and finalize.

At most places, salespeople either weren't clear about the ordering process or kept pushing colors I didn't want. John Lucky at Ray Catena of Monmouth was a refreshing change. From our first phone call, he was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Unlike many salespeople, John took the time to really understand my preferences and saw that I valued getting the exact car build I wanted over speed of delivery. He patiently and clearly explained the entire factory ordering process and answered all my questions, setting clear expectations to prevent surprises later. A few months later, the car arrived. Pickup day went flawlessly. John warmly greeted us and introduced us to the car. The paperwork was clearly explained and smooth. Another team member presented the warranty options and was also excellent. A third team member, who guided us through the car's technical features, was friendly and thorough. Overall, it was an ideal luxury car buying experience--transparent, attentive, and genuinely enjoyable--completely breaking the car dealership stereotype. We'll probably purchase any future Lexuses through John; the extra half-hour or so of drive was well worth it.

Land Rover Princeton returned my vehicle with damage that was not present at the time it was…read moredropped off for service. I brought my vehicle in for a driver-side sun visor repair. While in their care, the dealership caused significant damage to the rear passenger door, including a visible hole that was not present at drop-off. The dealership initially accepted responsibility, took possession of the vehicle, and provided me with a loaner while the damage was being addressed. However, they later reversed course and began denying liability. They are now attempting to attribute the damage to prior unrelated repair history, referencing a Carfax report. The dealership has intake documentation and photos showing the vehicle was received without this damage, and that the condition changed while it was in their care. Despite this, they have refused to repair the damage and are attempting to shift responsibility. I have escalated this to Land Rover corporate and now have an open case. I have also filed an insurance claim, a police report, and am obtaining a second body shop opinion due to the lack of resolution. Very disappointing experience from a luxury brand. I strongly recommend documenting vehicle condition thoroughly before leaving it here. I will update this review if the issue is resolved.

Once you pull off the Princeton dealer lot with your car, you are of no use to them.
