Andrea B.

**2.5 stars** I was looking for something different and came across this place on yelp. The staff was friendly and happily accommodated my request for no yogurt in my berry smoothie. The smoothie was good, but small and expensive. I ordered the tamale plate which comes with one chicken tamale, salsa, rice, cheese, olives and beans. Basically these items were premade and heated up. The rice was mushy and barely warm. The salsa comes from a jar or can because it wasn't fresh. The tamale must have been microwaved because it was dried out and hard on the corners. There is almost no sauce inside the tamale because even the chicken inside was dry. Overpriced and not good, take a hard pass on this place.

Breakfast burrito (in a bowl) with a latte
Sarah C.

I stopped in during lunch time there was only one other person waiting for food. I ordered the breakfast burrito without the wrap (gluten free) It was flavorful however there wasn't a lot for the price ($14.99) The latte lacked the bold flavor of coffee, It was more of a french press coffee than an espresso.

Açaí bowl (mango instead of banana)
Amelia E.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good my açaí bowl was! I substituted mangoes for the bananas and wow that was really yummy! The space is a nice chill atmosphere. Glad we decided to stop by.

Acai protein bowl

Such a cute place with a great menu. We came here our last day and the person helping us out was so sweet and helpful. So great for anyone that vegan and gluten free. They have gluten free granola and vegan/gf protein. It's SO YUMMY.

Remedy Café - tamale plate

Ordered the tamale plate. Was great tasting and a very healthy choice. I hope to stop by again, but this time for breakfast. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a healthy alternative.

Açaí bowl

I had the Açaí bowl for breakfast - it was delicious and filling. My husband had the Buddha burrito which was also quite tasty.

My friend got a Tex-Mex one and after a debate between Thai and Vietnamese, I chose Vietnamese. Both of us were delighted and I definitely would return here on any future visit to Hood River in an effort to tour through the rest of the world. Didn't even notice until leaving that other folk had beautifully presented salads. Also the service was great and appreciated the casual vibes.

This spot made it easy, with an interesting menu and plenty of options to choose from. We ordered a few different things, including tex mex tacos, a salad with rice, and a few different taco varieties. My hubby and I shared the Thai, Vietnamese, and Korean tacos, and we also got the watermelon juice and chips with avocado salsa. Everything was flavorful, and the tacos were definitely not skimping on the fillings. Each taco is around $6, which initially felt a little steep, but they were packed to the brim, so you're definitely getting a substantial portion. Service was a little mediocre. I got the sense that our server was new and there were a couple of mix-ups, but nothing major. Overall, an enjoyable lunch, especially for a group with different dietary preferences. The patio was a great bonus, and we'd happily come back.

We were a group of 5 trying to get Sat on a Saturday night. They gave us an estimated wait time of an hour but encouraged us to try their takeout option because it would be "faster" and we could take it to eat by the water. This sounded like a great idea so we went around back and found a food truck and kiosk. The food truck did slices or 15inch pizzas so we decided to try the kiosk (they had 11in pizzas). This was probably the wrong decision. They had a waitress who also had an entire section running the kiosk. She was intermittently available and pretty unhelpful. They tack on a 15% required gratuity which feels like there isn't incentive for her to handle the orders well. We each did our own orders and they don't text you when your order is ready (we all got our texts 20 minutes after we picked up our food) so we just stood in the parking lot waiting for our food. When it was finally up, she didn't yell the names very loudly so we had to pay close attention to who had ordered before us. Once we got our food (after 40-45 minutes) I then waited another 10 minutes for the lemonade I ordered. A man said he was going to look for it and never came back so the waitress eventually went and got it herself after she took care of a couple of her tables and began bussing another. The food quality was excellent. We got the mozzarella sticks which were huge, well seasoned and had the best cheese pull. The fries with truffle were incredible and fresh. They were very flavorful and garlicky. The aioli it came with added to it perfectly. Finally, we got 3 different pizzas. They were baked well and had plenty of toppings. I would recommend trying their food but do yourself a favor and get a reservation.

The vegan and GF choices here were actually exciting. My friends ordered the vegan Khao Soi and the Kati noodle soups, and both were full, thoughtful dishes, not afterthoughts. It made dinner so much easier and way more enjoyable for our whole group. This isn't a traditional ramen shop, but my husband's black garlic chintan was every bit as satisfying as some of our favorite ramen spots back in the Bay. Rich, comforting, and absolutely worth ordering at $19 for a hearty bowl. (The others were slightly pricier at $24 a pop) That said, the star of the night was my spicy shrimp ramen. Easily. The broth reminded me of a laksa base with a deep, layered flavor heavy with aromatics and umami. The shrimp on top were excellent in their own right, perfectly seared, well-seasoned, and not just a garnish pretending to matter. I also want to give the ramen eggs a shout out. I can't believe how many places get this wrong. These beauties were perfectly marinated and served warm. It's one of my biggest pet peeves to have an ice cold ramen egg dropped into my hot soup and I appreciate the consideration given to addressing this common faux pas. Fast service, a beautiful outdoor patio with a great view, and food that genuinely impressed all of us. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

Split the St. Helens Burger, an order of fries, and a side salad with the recommended goat cheese (trust them--it was the right call). The burger was everything you want it to be. A fresh poppy seed bun, a perfectly cooked patty, sweet caramelized onions... and then came the poblano pepper. That little bit of smoky heat tied the whole thing together. Now let's talk about the fries because they deserve their own paragraph. These are, without question, my favorite fries. They arrived hot, crispy, perfectly golden, and had that satisfying crunch that makes it impossible to stop at just one. If you're a fry person, these alone are worth the visit. The side salad was fresh and flavorful, and the creamy goat cheese took it from "just a side salad" to something I'd happily order again. It was the perfect balance to all those delicious fries. If you're looking for a place that consistently delivers great food in a welcoming atmosphere, Kickstand Coffee should absolutely be on your list. We've yet to have a bad meal here, and it's one of those places we recommend without hesitation to friends, family, and anyone who asks where to eat. I now wish I didn't let my husband eat more of the fries. Gotta head back up there soon!
