Malteaser Biscuit Cake and an Apple Pie.
    Kenneth F.

Amazing café! My best friend and I were in the mood for coffee so we decided to get the D1 to Bettystown and Relish was an easy 30 second walk from the bus stop at the beach! Immediately walking in we saw the friendly staff and were greeted quickly with a wide range of seating available, I got the Malteaser biscuit cake and an iced coffee and it was divine!

My wife and I passed The Pheasant every day as we travelled home from the festival. Today I got my chance to pop in...was I in for a treat. The interior decor is definitely period and works really well....check it out!!It has a great location and there is ample car parking. Absolutely superbly decked out inside and staff excellent. I went for the calamari and Caesar salad. When it arrived it was huge and delicious-the Caesar must have been the best (tastiest and creamiest) I've ever had. Calamari cooked to perfection and in a lightly spiced batter (I was expecting more). As a starter it was excellent value and big portion well presented. Will be back for more!!!!

I was lucky enough to have them cater my wedding and the food was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a beautiful chicken dish with a sweet potato side, and soup also to start, and a trio of mini-desserts to finish. My husband and I were allowed our own meals, I had sushi followed by duck, and he had steak and chips (he is a straighforward kind of guy!) We had an evening with the two sets of in-laws one night when we got to sample a selection of meals in order to choose our wedding menu. I've never felt so spoiled in all my life. The atmosphere was very special, and we were treated like royalty - the chef came out for a chat with us afterwards which was very thoughtful. Food just kept coming, delicious and beautifully presented, which wasn't a suprise considering the chef had recently left a job in the Ivy to come and work here. For our evening buffet they served us gourmet hot dogs and burgers from an open barbeque outside, with carmelised onions and relish - people went back several times! There was a vegetarian that we forgot was coming to the evening do, and they sent down to the restaurant to get her a selection of cheeses and bread - and they never even billed us for it. Angela who looked after us throughout our wedding was cool, calm and collected and made everything run like clockwork. I would highly recommend The Pheasant if you are looking for caterers for an event, and even for a special night out, the restaurant itself is perfect.

The mixed veg was a nice addition. As the veg was hot it made the meal more hearty than your usual salad. For breakfast I was feeling hungover so decided to go for their 'traditional' breakfast rather than one of the healthy protein filled options on the menu. The breakfast comes with homemade brown bread or toast and tea/coffee. The highlight was the tasty sausages! Friendly staff and a bright light filled room makes the Anvil a good choice if you are in the area.

It's basically a fancy sandwich bar! The menu has about 25 sandwiches to choose from and only about 10 mains! I just don't understand how a restaurant can have so much choice of one food and so little of anything else! Also the thick cut fries are basically half roast potatoes! I got like 15 roasties as opposed to just throwing 25 skinny fries which would of been so Much more appetising! Nobody likes spud overload! Staff are so good, helpful and polite! It's very kid friendly but the menu really lets this place down!

A very important element as two of our party are vegan. We had a lovely evening and were blown away by the fantastic food, beautiful restaurant and warm ambience. Service was slow-moving which suited us perfectly as we wanted a leisurely, relaxed, family evening. Everyone in our party enjoyed their food, with the pièce de résistance being the exceptional vegan dishes. My starter was a flavourful platter of stuffed peppers, olives, mushrooms, bread and chutney. For main course I had roast winter veg, semolina & salsa verde with vegan chips and Garlic Rough Cuts. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. When booking I had mentioned that two of us are vegan and the Chef surprised us by created a couple of luxurious, off-menu desserts, a vegan Merengue and chocolate, praline, cherry mousse. This really was something special - we were so impressed! Thank you Moody Boar for such a fantastic evening, phenomenal vegan food and completely excelling all our expectations. We will be back, again and again..

They have a lot of different menu items so I decided to ask the server for local food items. She advised that the mussels, calamari, haddock and ribs were local so we opted for a large bowl of mussels and regular size plates of haddock and ribs. They had a lot of interesting choices from all around the world but I like to taste the local ingredients when in traveling. We got the mussels in the white wine cream sauce and I was very happy with that choice because they were so fresh and almost sweet. My dinner companion was not happy that this mussel was tiny. It didn't bother me. The Haddock boujons were perfectly cooked and crispy. They came on top of a little mashed potatoes with mushy peas. For the final plate we got the ribs. They were heavenly, I almost want to say the best I've ever had. The reason. Why is because the meat was tender like butter. The flavor was delicious but it wasn't heavy or heavily smoked like the libs in the USA. They were like air. Not sure if that makes sense but it's the best way I can describe it. For dessert we got the Bailey's cheesecake. It was so smooth that it was like a mousse. Soooo good. The house wine was an insanely good Sauvignon Blanc. The service was great. They were very attendant. The ambience is casual which I liked. The only negative mark o can give is that the beer on draught is German. I was dying for a pint if Irish beer and had to settle for a bottle. I would recommend this restaurant. Everything we had was good
