Lee was great and straightforward about the job, scheduling, etc. Marlon was the lead on-site along with another employee. Had a riser pipe in my backyard that was leaking. It self healed two years ago but then started again. I was lucky and it was only a galvanized riser pipe that connected to pvc. It took them two attempts to fix the back but they got it done. House also needed some pipe replaced in the front to add a shutoff valve for the sprinklers. Again, the work was not completed 100% on the first attempt, however they fixed it after a second visit. Okay, I'll try to make a long story short. Several years ago we had a really bad drain block on a cold and rainy holiday weekend night. Lee came out and, with wind whipping and rain hammering, got on our roof and snaked the main drain of our house and solved our problem... and didn't rip us off. Flash forward to today. Because Lee had done some other stuff for us, we actually forgot that rooting was one of his businesses. so, when our tub was barely draining, we called a company that had an "All drains, one price" deal in one of the coupon mailers that come to the house. The guy from the other company "tried" to open our drain, then explained that to do it he would have to... blah, blah, blah; $1761.00!!! But he also wanted to charge us $300 just to remove the little drain cover in tub so we could change it, which is when my rip off alarms went off. This SOB stood in my house and lied to my face (look for my review on that company's page - I don't want to mention names on Lee's). As you've probably surmised, Lee and Marco (I hope I have that right; he's great, too), came out moments after I called and fixed the problem for the price of his standard home visit. I also have a story about him standing by his installation of my water heater when I thought I had a problem (I didn't). My wife and I ran a business honestly for two decades and during that time we rarely saw businesses that shared our ethics. After over 20 years in Simi and using a variety of plumbing companies, never quite being thrilled with their service I found one that really does deserve a 5 star rating. I am sure you are wondering why I would give 5 stars to a plumber. Well it is deserved and here is why. A few months ago we had an issue with the laundry drain and since our neighbor recently had a good experience with a plumber they used we decided to ask them for the number. We called and talked with Lee about our problem and he was able to give us a quote over the phone. Since it was similar to what we have paid previously for drain cleaning we schedule him to come out. He and his helper showed up and cleared the drain, just like every other plumber. What impressed me more was that they were much neater about it and friendly. When done, they even ran the washer to ensure it drained properly. At this point we felt he was above the average plumber we have used previously and kept his card for future reference. Last month we started a remodel in our kitchen and had to move a gas line. We decided to call Lee to check if he was certified to work on gas and he was so we had him come out. Even though we knew we wanted him to do the work, we wouldn't commit until he could come see what had to be done and give us an estimate. After looking at it and quoting us a price we felt was fair we hired him to do the work. Again he brought a helper and they do a good job. It wasn't spectacular, but they were just as friendly and neat as before. If this is where it had stopped I would have given him 4 stars, but something else happened. About 15 minutes after he had left, my wife noticed something on the side of the toilet, and when she went to wipe it off found out it was cracked. I immediately called Lee and asked if he remembered if a wrench may have hit the toilet, he couldn't remember anything, but he said it it wasn't cracked before then obviously they had somehow hit it and owed us a toilet. There was no argument or denial, which is what I typically have encountered when a contractor damages something. Lee even called back later and explained that his helper thinks what happened was that when they had cut the pipe the piece fell and must have bounced and hit the toilet just right. Since honesty and integrity is so hard to find these days, Lee deserves all 5 stars. I highly recommend calling him the next time you need a plumber. read more

Well here is an update: six months after Lee and Marlin snaked my sewer line and cut out the tree roots they grew back. Lee had told me this was likely given the age of the pipes (25 years), but I had hoped to avoid the cost of trenching and replacing the pipe. But we had another sewer back-up so I called Reliable Rooter again. Lee and Marlin arrived within 2 hours of my 7am call on Tuesday and ran a camera down the line. It showed the roots were back at the same spot - about 35ft in. They used their sensor to locate the blockage from above ground and this time Lee suggested I have the affected area trenched and replaced. He quoted me a very good price for the job and said they could do it Thursday or Friday. The next morning I get a call from Lee with a question about the job and says he'll be there in an hour! Sure enough, next thing I know Lee and Marlin and "El Topo" (the mole) show up and start digging. By 2pm they were done, having dug about 8 feet down and three feet under my driveway (not breaking the pavement) and replacing three feet of pipe and the flex joint, and also replacing the clean-out access. The pipe had been completely filled by the tree roots growing back and I'm amazed we didn't have a huge flood in my house from this. But the crew from Reliable Rooter got the job done fast, cleaned everything up after and just performed as true professionals. These are my go-to guys for all my plumbing needs now, they provide great service, fast appointments and many, many years of experience with these problems. The price was absolutely reasonable and I couldn't be more pleased with the entire experience. Lee took my Visa credit card which made it easy to pay (he doesn't take American Express) and now the pipe should be good for another 20-25 years.
