I first met Matthew when he helped a friend's father deal with numerous gas leaks in a mobile home. It was a difficult situation, but he was responsive, professional, and thorough. Later, after we moved into a home in Lancaster, I asked the company to travel from Simi Valley to help overhaul several parts of the plumbing system. The house needed a new regulator and cleanout, and an addition had been plumbed incorrectly with the hot and cold lines reversed. They also replaced an older water heater with a tankless system and rerouted portions of the gas piping as we converted more appliances and systems to electric. They handled several additional problems that demonstrated both persistence and honesty. A serious clog in the main kitchen drain line took more than two hours to break through, but they stayed with it until the line was cleared. During the home inspection, we had also been told that approximately ten feet of piping beneath the house appeared cracked and might need to be replaced. After performing a full video inspection of the plumbing system, Matthew's team determined that the marks were likely only surface scuffs and that the pipe was safe to continue using. Their willingness to give an honest assessment instead of recommending an unnecessary replacement meant a great deal to us. Most recently, they helped at a Scottish Rite commercial building where more than sixteen feet of older cast-iron drainage piping had collapsed. The affected section included multiple connections serving different drains in one of our primary bathrooms. They replaced and rerouted the damaged piping, charged a very fair price, and once again delivered quality work. It is rare to find a plumbing company equally comfortable handling mobile-home gas leaks, a major residential overhaul, difficult drain problems, video inspections, and complex commercial cast-iron drainage repairs. Highsmith & Daughters has been responsive, honest, efficient, and reliable throughout every project. I would gladly call them again and strongly recommend them.

They came to our home and within 2 minutes was giving me a quote of $17.5k. Didn't look at the pipes or listen to me at all. I told them I didn't need the kitchen pipes redone, only the bathrooms, and he told me kitchen pipes are always they worst, so we'll do that, too. He said they'd tunnel 6 ft under the foundation of the property, putting someone completely under the house without looking at how it was built or the current state of it. When I asked him questions he was clearly annoyed with me. We've had lead pipes in places, but when I asked about it he said we have good water pressure so I don't need to worry about lead. That makes no sense. After that I stopped asking because I figured we would just be wasting time. I knew at that point I wasn't using this company. They never sent me an estimate or followed up at all. Every red flag in the book. I'd be very careful with this company.

Having invited five professional plumbers to my house in order to do a take off and submit a proposal to me for the entire plumbing of my garage conversion. Not only was their communication poor, I found their price to be almost outrageous. You have competitive pricing and luckily we have received more complete bids with less than half the cost. I chose to go with a with licensed C-36 that's been in the business for 30+ years & 15 year guarantee. Word of the wise, invite several trades to your project at the same time. Get these guys to bid more competitively and hold them accountable for price gouging. I'm giving two stars only because I actually received a bid. Not complete or detailed mind you. We needed someone good to get here quickly and find the source of the leak. We called JC Plumbing based on their great Yelp reviews - Julio called back immediately and said they could be out within the hour. They kept their promise: Julio & Cesar arrived on time and explained their method and cost. We agreed, they proceeded (removing some Sheetrock, filling the shower pan with water, watching for source) and they determined that the shower pan construction ("hot mop") had failed. Although JC doesn't reconstruct hot mop shower pans, they gave us exactly what we needed today: great service, quick response, methodical work and the definitive source of the problem. We now know what to do for our next step. By the way, another plumbing company that we contacted (before calling JC) said that their first move would be breaking up the concrete slab to discover the leak. Thank goodness we hesitated on that other company and called JC Plumbing - we saved ourselves a world of hurt!

An outside leak was investigated to determine whether it was the HOA's responsibility. The leak detection visit was arranged through the HOA, and I never consented to hiring T Top Plumbing for myself. Very little was done during the visit, yet I was later told I had to reimburse the company once the leak was deemed homeowner responsibility. I later learned the leak detection company used charges significantly less than what I was billed, with the difference attributed to a "dispatch" fee that was never disclosed or approved. The invoice itself states that I declined further locating and marking once responsibility was determined. If I declined continued service once responsibility was determined, it is unreasonable to bill me for services I neither requested nor authorized. Homeowners should be cautious and get everything in writing before allowing any involvement from this company.

I called a licensed plumber, he took his time and was able to light pilot; hot water is on and no repair required ... What a racket this company is!!! Who makes $629 for 45 minutes of work .... BUYER BEWARE with this company! I had to pay $59 for a 'service call' and he gave an incorrect diagnosis ... so sad. UPDATE: Per telephone conversation with Payless Water Heater management, they have decided to revisit their pricing structure -- especially for small repairs. They were contracted by my property manager back in February (it's now July) to replace a cracked sink and toilet. They have come out three times and I have had 20+ calls with them and still no resolution. They constantly say they will call back but never do. Here is a recap of this week for a taste of what you're in for if you do business with this joke of a place: After yet another month of no calls or updates: Wednesday: I call, she says she will call back. No call back Thursday: I call - she transfers me to an extension no one is at and the call ends. I call back multiple times, doesn't pick up, then I leave a voicemail asking to be called back. Friday: Still no call back from yesterday and it's later in the afternoon. I call again, the secretary now says I need to contact my property manger (who has told me to call them for any updates). Despite her giving me the runaround and updates for the past year with no issues talking directly to me.. She says she doesn't know anything more and it's the plumbers responsibility not her. Then she contradicts herself and says it's an order waiting and she knows for a fact that it has been ordered. I ask - well when was it ordered? She doesn't know... and she eventually hung up on me when I told her she should know and I'm tired of this. Take a look at my profile- I have never had an issue with any other business and this is not some crazy customer. This place is truly unprofessional and not worth the headache. You need help and you need it fast. You're thinking, damn, this is going to cost a fortune. And you have no idea who to call! Well, I'll tell you who: the team at Ocean View Plumbing and Rooter! Over the years I've owned my house I've used several different plumbers. Some good, some bad. More bad ones than good ones, truth be told. Some so bad I had to hire a second plumber to fix the first plumber's shoddy work. Some were total ripoffs. It's a damn jungle out there! A couple years ago I had a leak in a pipe under the concrete slab my house is built on. It required drilling through floor of my kitchen, and through the concrete to repair. A bit of a sticky wicket. After the first company that I called proved unable to address the situation I called Ocean View. These guys were the proverbial Pros from Dover; they were definitely up to the challenge. It wasn't an easy job. But they got 'er done. I was very happy with their work. Since that big job, I've had to call them out a couple more times. The most recent was this week. I called them out because in one bathroom the drain in the shower was slow, and in the other bathroom the toilet was always running and I was tired of jiggling the damn handle. They sent Fredi and his helper to address the problems. I was happy to see Fredi because he had been here before and I know that guy is good! Just like always, the problems were quickly fixed. And at a reasonable price! Not cheap, mind you, but reasonable. Quite fair, I'd say. I wholeheartedly recommend Ocean View Plumbing and Rooter. If you have plumbing issues these are definitely the guys to call. Unlike a lot of other companies, these guys show up when they say they will show up. Matt did an outstanding job with the sewer scope inspection at the new house we're planning to…read morepurchase. He arrived right on time, started by scoping the sewer from an existing cleanout, and clearly explained what he was seeing and what it meant--step by step--so we felt informed the entire time. What really impressed me was how thorough and persistent he was. He continued the inspection from the front of the house where the cleanout was extremely difficult to locate. When he couldn't find it easily, he went through the toilet, pinpointed the cleanout location, found that it was buried underground, uncovered it, opened it, and ran the camera through that line to make sure there were no root issues or hidden problems. He didn't stop there. He also opened a sealed cleanout and ran the camera through that side as well, just to confirm the other portion of the house didn't have roots or any concerns. That level of detail and effort gave me a lot of confidence in the condition of the sewer lines. I was more than pleased with Matt's work--professional, knowledgeable, and truly thorough. If you're buying a home and want peace of mind, I highly recommend Matt. He does an amazing job.
