Horrific experience. We use movers and warehouses across the USA for our interior design business. This was by far the worst experience we have had in 20 years of residential moving. RUN! I have never left a Yelp review but felt compelled to do so after this experience. The fees far exceeded reasonable rates in the market and Lou forced us to pay CASH in advance of releasing any of our merchandise. I had no choice but to pay what I estimate to be $15,000 more than we should have paid to any other moving company we work with. We got a solid recommendation from our realtor and we were very satisfied with the service provided. They owner came and walked through the house and made an estimate of packing materials, hours, and the number of storage palates needed. They were fully booked on the days I needed to move out of our home of 21 years and he shuffled his crew and workloads to get us out in time. The crew faced torrential rain while trying to load. And a lot more delicate glassware and China than expected. We had some fine art pieces and the owner packed and inventoried these himself. When everything was moved to their warehouse and we got the final bill it was exactly as we expected. Crew was courteous and hardworking. Lou was a pleasure to work with. ***DO NOT ISE THIS COMPANY EVER*** I had to pack my apartment up remotely as we had been returned to Australia during Covid. I'be diligently paid the exhorbitant storage fees as they arrived in my email, after paying the initial pack and removal fee. I was assured our goods we're well stored in air right and water right conditions. No idea where. Fast forward two years and I arranged from Australia to have our household possessions returned to a new apartment. I had to pay $1900 for the delivery from the warehouse and $1200 for the storage fees up front in cash or check before delivery. I also had to sign documents saying that I accept the condition of the goods and do not hold them responsible for any damage. If I didn't sign, you don't get your own goods. The state of so many things is deplorable. Dirty, damp, mouldy and broken. Mattresses ripped, carpets so out of shape they won't recover, legs broken off side tables (and this was hidden from us). Ruined clothing and shoes, all mouldy and the list goes on. I am reporting this company to the Better Bureau. They don't deserve any stars. read more

They don't answer the phone nor respond to voicemails nor emails. If you send multiple text messages you'll be lucky to get a one-word response. I got my in-home inspection and rate quote in early May. About two months later, on the day of my move, they came and showed me paperwork that was nearly DOUBLE the quoted rate. The foreman, who did not give his real name but only identified himself as "Big", said he does not know anything about the rate, the quote, or anything else. "I just picked up this paperwork," he said. He also could not inform me of anyone I could speak to (e.g. a manager or someone in charge). I felt pressured at the last minute to agree to a rate that was nearly DOUBLE what I was quoted. Eventually, the owner Lou called me and tried to explain that the higher rate was due to the "economical situation with covid." I wasn't buying it. Covid has been on the decline since May, and even if it was causing a rate increase, there's no way it should cause the rate to literally DOUBLE. And assuming some catastrophe causes the rate to increase by that much, shouldn't a responsible company inform their customers prior to the move date? When I asked Lou this, he said he didn't have time to inform his customers about the rate increase because he was "getting home every night after midnight." I'm sorry, but that's no excuse. How long does it take to send an email/text message informing about a rate increase? A responsible company does not surprise their customers on move day with nearly DOUBLE the quoted rate and then try to pressure them into signing the paperwork--that's what con artists and crooks do. Moving and storage is all about trust, and I simply could not trust these guys after their unprofessional and dishonest behavior. More than $600 was stolen from my purse by one of the movers. I called the company to tell them I suspected one of their guys. The woman who answered the phone was shocked and told me Lou would call me back. This was Friday late afternoon. I didn't hear from him all weekend so I finally called him back on Monday. Most of our possessions arrived undamaged. Friday morning delivery scheduled. NEGATIVE: Smaller of two trucks arrived Saturday morning, not Friday. No news of big truck. Found out after the fact, larger of 2 trucks (85% of our house) held up at a weigh station on Friday (still 6 hours from our new home) ....Driver not permitted to drive. Delivery Date was changed without advance notice. Zero communication from the Management or Owner during the 4 day delay. No reply to my texts, emails, and calls. All men involved had a different "story" about reason for delay. 4 days later- Monday phone call from driver. Truck arriving that day. Then no discount was given after that MAJOR inconvenience. I was told they would "wrap" everything - well they literally wrapped NOTHING - except a few pieces got very light plastic wrap. They placed WOOD furniture on its side directly on the side walk with no pads used except for the TV. They showed up with ZERO tools, luckily we had one screwdriver leftover they used to breakdown our furniture. The reviews must have been written by their friends and family members. Read the other one star reviews, they are 100% accurate. They change the charges and try to intimidate you to pay more money...in cash, they disappear for hours, they damaged my couch, almost ruined my bed and as others have commented, the owner stops by and acts like all he cares about is you getting the best service, as his people are dropping boxes and scratching your furniture. Please do not use this service! This was my third move with this company, and my last move was a complete disaster! I reserved the time and date two months in advance, so there was no excuse for the last minute date change that Princeton made. Also, there was no excuse for the fact that they sent a truck that was too small to move the contents of a three bedroom condo. Nor was there an excuse for the fact that they sent three rather than four movers. The result was that they were unable to fit everything on the truck and that the move had to take place over two days! But that was not the worst of it. The worst of it was the utter indifference the movers had to damaging my furniture!! I saw them set my glass tabletop directly on the cement garage floor. My wall unit was damaged, scratched as though it had been set on cement and dragged around. My leather recliner was badly scratched. My iron frame bed was badly scratched. My desk was broken. Glasses and dishes were broken. Apparently the movers had a shortage of blankets, so they shrink wrapped items that should have been covered by blankets. They were simply careless, careless, careless. I was very nervous about this move and gave poor Danielle such a hard time about details. She kept telling me it's going to be fine. Well, it was better than fine. This was my best move yet, and I have moved quite a few times! The guys were amazing! They were extremely efficient, polite, HONEST, and really funny. They kept me laughing and with all the "entertainment" LOL, they finished early!!! I got a refund in a couple of days for $365!! I have never in my experience been treated so well by movers. Used them a few years ago and had to take them to small claims court because they left half of our furniture and boxes in the old house 8 miles away; some of these things were left in the yard after they had preliminarily moved them outside. But sharply at 5:00pm they called it a day, demanded their pay and left. We discovered their discrepancies when we went back to the old house that evening and saw what was still there. We called the next morning to complain, so their remedy was to send out two guys with a Toyota min-truck that could barely hold a washing machine in the back. They made one trip before they disappeared. So we had to move the rest of the items ourselves. UPDATED 4/2017: Looks like you're fighting an uphill battle here with all these bad reviews, Lou. Better get some friends of yours on here to post phony reviews and boost your lousy 2.0. In response: Your men showed up three hours early and just started grabbing our stuff, that's why we weren't fully packed. And you DID NOT volunteer to send a second truck the next day to pick up the heavy furniture you left in the garage and yard (which don't normally get "packed"). We had to threaten you. Your men also clocked out at 5:00pm and left furniture in the yard. They threw "bathroom" boxes in the basement and "basement" boxes in the kitchen. It has taken me a month to write this review because I am still trying to recover emotionally from my experience with this "company". I do not wish to give them even 1 star however I feel it is necessary to share my story in hopes that no one else will have to go through what I have been through. A little back story: my mother hired them to move from central jersey to upstate PA. The plan was to meet Princeton van lines at my mother's storage facility at 9AM and take the two hour drive up to my mom's new house separately to ensure all belongings get there okay. After numerous phone calls/messages to the office it is now 2 PM I am currently at UHAUL in the middle of renting a moving truck and I just received my first phone call from the "owner" Lou. Who continued to give me excuse after excuse as to why they didn't show up and didn't even have the decency to call me, or my mom who scheduled this. Then on top of all of it he then blamed my mother for his shortcomings. I should have hung up the phone and saved myself the misery, but the thought of moving a three bedroom storage facility with just the help of my boyfriend and one of his friends made me nauseous. So I decided to try and cut a deal with the owner, Lou. Which is my biggest regret. To my surprise he shows up to the storage facility when he said he would so now it is 3PM. Four other guys show up and they all start working hard moving all my mom's stuff and somehow not damaging it either. Now it is 5PM. All the stuff is packed up in the truck and I introduce myself to the two drivers, Tiny and Baron. I ask them if they have a gps and if they need to make any stops before the two hour drive. To which they assured me they are all set. We exchange numbers and they inform me that they might get up to PA later than us because the truck isn't able to go that fast. My boyfriend and I get in our car and we decide to follow the truck up there, and thank god they did because they missed the exit for 287 twice and we ended up in south Amboy in front of one of the drivers apartments. We were clueless as to why and when we called and asked them they replied, "we need to stop and get a map". I'm livid at this point I've been dealing with this crisis for 9 hours. I call the "owner" Lou, and he again plays dumb and tells me a million and one excuses. We take off again only to find ourselves at a truck stop off the turnpike for 20 minutes. So they just added over an hour to this trip for no reason. While I was sitting in the truck stop waiting for them to maybe get out maybe they have to use the bathroom I was honestly starting to become very afraid. I got a sick feeling in my stomach and I wasn't sure if my safety was in jeopardy or if all of my mom's belongings were in jeopardy. I call the "owner" Lou for the last time. Telling him we are not paying for this hour that is being wasted and that if they don't start driving I'm calling the police. He then proceeds to try and manipulate the conversation. He tells me, and I quote "these guys are not smart like you and me, because if they were they wouldn't be driving a truck for a living" I told him how dare he degrades the men he hired and if we don't start moving there is going to be a lawsuit on your hands. Long story short the truck started driving and we actually made it up to PA around 11pm. They demanded all cash and held my mom's belongings hostage until they had the money. Again my mother threatened to call the police and luckily they listened. I honestly feel sorry for the two truck drivers the most because they have no clue how much their boss is affecting their pay. Please, please I discourage anyone from using them unless you want a never ending headache and to be out a lot of money. My mother and I are reporting them to the better business bureau. read more

Wish I had read these reviews prior to hiring these guys. I hired them initially they were very professional and their price quote was fair. At the time there was uncertainty as to where exactly my items were going to be moved to, so we opted to temporarily place them in their storage. They assured me that it would be safe, secure, and dry. After 2 months of being in storage, the destination address was provided to them only (8 miles) from their location. Unlike any other moving company that I have ever dealt with nothing was numbered, so there was no way of immediately knowing if there was any piece (boxes or furniture) that was missing. On our immediate observation as they were unloading the boxes we noticed that a lot of boxes had been exposed to dampness and some of them were damaged (please note that all these boxes had been purchased new and at no time were there any issues of being damaged), Truck was completely unloaded and that is when I realized that my Jewelry armoire was missing. The site supervisor who had been at the house when we initially moved membered it as he is the one that had wrapped it and loaded it on the truck. We checked the entire house for it to no avail. He mentioned that he would check at the warehouse also. He did mention that I should speak to Lou and put a claim on it. This was done 2 days later. I was told that they would be on the lookout for it and that insurance paperwork would be sent to me. I waited 2 weeks, reached out to them but "cricket" no answer....NOTHING. I persisted again and again by email, by phone but got no response. As for the damaged boxes, there were a lot of broken dishes (which had been carefully bubbled wrapped) and the boxes did indicate "FRAGILE". Additional missing items were a stand-alone air fan, and an outdoor umbrella stand. Also, there was a piano that had recently been tuned, after 2 months in storage it needed to be tuned again. This is obvious that this company are fraudster taking advantage of people that put their trust in their services and humanity. The move from a two bedroom first floor apartment to a one bedroom apartment took 8 hours. I am not a complainer. I know this sounds like a crazy person, carrying on but this is the ONLY place I would give negative stars. This place is awful. Stay away! If you want details, read below... This was the most unprofessional moving company I have ever worked with. It took them 14 hours to complete a move from one apartment, to another one only 45 minutes away. - They damaged furniture. They broke our bed, and scratched our Italian leather couch because they were too lazy to wrap them properly. - They were rude. The leader of the group continually called one of the workers retarded, said he couldn't do anything right and threatened not to pay him for the work. They were bickering throughout the entire day - I had to do at least 30% of the truck unloading at the our destination myself. If I hadn't they would never have finished at all and would have needed to keep our stuff overnight. If that happened I don't think we would have ever seen them or our belongings again. - They didn't offer us an in person quote, and as a result, the price they charged us ended up being 65% more than the quote because of how many hours they took to do the job poorly. They also didn't offer free boxes, which is typical of a professional moving company. We believe they dragged their asses in the move so that they could charge us the maximum amount. They've given us no reimbursements for the furniture they damaged, and they have been a nightmare to work with. I would give them negative five stars if at all possible. I contracted them to move my elderly father from NJ to MA. They were supposed to arrive at 9am so I could drive him up in the afternoon. Instead, Lou the owner called to tell me they would be an hour late. Starting 10:30am I called their business number every 1/2 hour to find out where they were. Never a callback. Finally at 12:30pm I get a call from the driver asking me when I'd like them to show up! Even though I did not curse at him, he took offense at my attitude and hung up on me! Luckily he showed up 15 min later. After a very leisurely 3 hr load they left before 4pm and we could not leave until the next day - which meant combining a 5 hr drive with the move in! They were supposed to deliver to my brother's house at 9am the next day. They arrived at 10:30am. Of course they didn't unpack the wardrobe boxes like other movers have and I found most garments were just jammed to the bottom of the boxes. Never, ever again! read more

I used them to move my home within New Jersey. Worst mistake. -One of my jewelry was stolen. Left it out by mistake and was gone by the time I realized. Owners response was "hope you find it". Told him how important it was but didn't really care. Bickering between the movers. -The final price was higher than expected(over $700). -the workers are very unprofessional. Constantly taking smoking breaks. They even left cigarette butts all over the driveway. The head guy (Eric)would disappear constantly. Unless I stayed on top of them they would be siting around. -I was kind enough to provide drinks and lunch both days. -furniture was damaged. Hole in dresser, mattress was broken. -they charge by the hour which is fine. But the clock started when they left the warehouse. So if they stop for coffee you get charged. We recently used Princeton Van Service for our move from a 2.5 bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor, into a town house. Xavier and his team did an amazing job, especially considering it had been snowing the night before and conditions were icy. Because of the snow and ice, Xavier called the day before to tell they might run 30-45 minutes late arriving in the morning but they would show up, rain or shine. This was really nice considering moving is a stressful event in itself. I can deal with delays and changes as long as I get a heads up, and Xavier did a good job in making me feel comfortable with the whole situation. The crew took good care of our stuff and really worked hard the entire day. We had a few heavy furniture pieces and they managed to get them out of the apartment, into the van and into our townhouse (some going up to the 2nd floor) without a scratch or mark. They also took great care in protecting the walls and floors carrying pieces in and out. The only reason I am not rating them 5 star is because of the inaccuracy on the pricing estimate in advance. The office had estimated a 3 men crew for 4-5 hours, however, upon arrival Xavier recommend a 4th crew member and said this would be an 8 hour job. We had ourselves estimated around 7 hours, so we were okay with the changes, but since this is a cash only service, this could of course be an issue for some. Xavier managed to get a 4th guy within an hour and the move stayed within the 8 hours estimated by him. Princeton Van Service also offered free boxes (used ones) and wardrobe boxes, which made the a little move easier for us. We would definitely use them again! read more

We moved with them because of positive ratings on BBB, when in fact we should have simply looked them up on google first. They showed up 90 minutes late, took over three hours to move a little over a bedroom, and required cash only without prior notification. We tried to call the office to see if we could pay by check, and the owner never even picked up. Once we finally got a hold of him, he was extremely rude and said that he simply didn't pick up the phone because he was 'out back'...and not avoiding us. GET IT IN WRITING & STAND FIRM I was moving from a one bedroom apartment to a 2 bedroom townhouse (located literally 1 mile apart) and contacted several moving companies for quotes on pricing. Princeton Van Service was the lowest by far and they told me there would be a minimum of 4 hours, but that it probably shouldn't take longer than that based on what I would be moving (no big appliances, just one sofa, recliner, bedroom set and desk, as well as boxes). I had read reviews online and found out that they only accepted CASH. In corresponding back and forth with the office staff, I asked questions about times, etc., and then baited her with the question of "is there anything else I should know?" She replied that we had covered it all. I then emailed back and asked, do you only accept cash, and she said yes! This isn't on their website, and they apparently don't think it's important to tell people ahead of time. She said cash or certified check would be ok. So I got my certified check in the amount for 4 hours plus their flat fee for travel time. On the night before the move, the crew supervisor called me and asked about wardrobe boxes, which I had already confirmed with the office, but he said that information had not been provided to me. He then told me there would be additional charges for travel time, starting from them leaving their office in Ewing. I told him I had already confirmed with the office that my travel time would be covered by the flat fee. He argued with me and said that wasn't their policy. I stood firm that I had it confirmed in writing, and he said he would check with the owner and let me know the following day. He also then notified me that I would need cash to pay, and I told him that I had a certified bank check. He said they wouldn't accept that, and I again told him that Lisa in the office told me that was an acceptable form of payment. On the day of the move, they were on-time and brought the number of men (3) that was contracted. When they started moving my stuff, the supervisor told me they really needed 4 men, and they would need 5-7 hours (not the 4 hour minimum). He wanted me to pay for the additional time right then, at the beginning of the move. I told them if that was the case, then they should just load the truck with the large furniture, and anything else that they could do within the 4 hours that I was prepared to pay for, and I would move the boxes and other items later myself (I had the apartment for 3 more weeks) if we ran out of time. Guess what? They were able to move everything out of my apartment and into my 2 bedroom townhouse within 3.5 hours. I guess they didn't need 6 or 7 hours after all!! It later came out in taking to one of the other staff people (the 2 other staffers were incredibly nice, helpful and professional), that they had another job that afternoon. I truly feel that the supervisor was trying to get more money out of me, and since it's cash, he would have pocketed that money! All in all, they moved my items carefully (nothing got broken), and were the cheapest, which was very important to me because I had just bought my first house! If you get the information in writing, and are willing to stand your ground, it might be worth it. If you aren't willing to deal with the aggravation & stress, then get another company! read more

Chris, Ninja, and Joe did a great job with our move on a hot day. They took good care of our stuff. No complaints there. My only criticism is that the estimate we got on the phone ahead of time was way off. It took nearly twice as long as estimated (no fault of the crew; they worked their butts off). It worked out fine in our case because I was happy with what they did, but since this is a cash-only service, I could see that working out badly for some people. read more

Had to have my childhood Wurlitzer upright piano moved 60 miles from ground level to ground level. I contracted with Princeton Van Service because they were one of the few services willing to only move a piano and the price was very competitive. Company agreed to show at 8am and they showed at 9am. An hour late because they "had to get gas". Ok, luckily i was time flexible this particular day. When they showed up they were "fast and efficient" loading the piano into a full size moving truck, all the while ensuring the safe delivery of my childhood treasure. Piano was delivered and price was as agreed in cash. The 2 movers were friendly and courteous. I would use this moving service again. read more

Horrible experience. Dishonest, poor planning - Lou is a liar and crook. They sent a truck half the size i needed requiring multiple trips and charged me for their poor planning. Then they held some of my items hostage because it was 1am and I didn't have an extra $1000 lying around even though I offered a personal check for the "overage". Lou the owner is inaccessible and will not take a call once the move has started. I mentioned my bad experience to friends in the Princeton area moving into very large homes and they have used other movers based on my advice. Luckily this is business Lou will not be getting. Their "professional" estimator came out, sized up the furnishings and provided a quote for my family's move from a townhouse to our new single family home that was 2-miles apart. Things got loaded onto the trucks and moved to the new location without a hitch. Unloading seemed to commence without issue, until half-way through the unloading (a point at which point one has no real recourse) I was informed that the job was going to take longer than they expected. The quality of work during the move work was acceptable BUT....it In the end I was CHARGED 200% of the quoted price. Really?! I called to complain but never received a response. And since the quote was non-binding there was frankly nothing I could do other than to warn others about my experience with GROSS UNDER-ESTIMATING. Caveat Emptor read more

This is the WORST moving company ever!!!!! They had moved me about a year ago between two subdivisions that you could easily walk across and I thought their price then was quite high but I used them again to move me from a Princeton address to a Skillnan address literarily an 8 minute drive; now this is the worst experience I ever had. First of all the owner had an estimate of $4,500 to move my two bedroom town home. The supervisor as far as I am concerned who is a "CON" man had connived with the owner to the point that I ended paying $6900 this is excluding tip for each person that moved. A job that should have been completed in one day was done in two days just because the supervisor wanted me to pay more period. Meanwhile he had told me that the move on the second day would not cost me additional money but at the end he made me pay an additional $1,000.00 !!!! I called the owner but he would not call back. The guys who did the moving itself were good guys but the SUPERVISOR and the OWNER are complete CON guys!!! Stay away from this company !!! They are not honest at all !!!!! You do not start with an estimate of $4,500 and end up paying $6,900 and the job was done in two days (which is no fault of yours) yet you are charged an additional cost!! Would never use them again! The price after the move was complete was several hundred dollars more than the original quote. In addition, they only notified me they accept cash the day of the move and I had to run to the bank to withdraw a ridiculous amount of money. Worst moving company. Dont use them. I think most reviews are fake. I hired them based on reviews. Moving date they arrived 3 hrs late. Moving was very slow. We were moving only 10 miles and yet they went overtime, this was after us moving a lot of stuff ourselves. They scratched our newly stained floors, dinged walls, scratched and dinged furniture, even lost furniture pieces. They also managed to tear 3/4 inch rubber mat that weighed 100 lbs. They sent someone to fix missing furniture piece and patch walls, but who the hell is gng to paint them. He did not fix a ding thats over 12 ft high on the wall. Owner refuses to acknowledge the floor scratch and dinged stuff. Unbelievable!! Worst thing is before they came in they already mentioned they might go overtime and what overtime rate is gng to be. And they were asking for tips before they started. They used 5 guys and still went overtime. Also bcoz they were gng very slow, i asked them to leave boxes in the garage, and yet they went overtime.
