This place is AMAZING and let me tell you why. The gentleman here are so kind. I walked in around 3 or a little after for an inspection for my Tesla. Their phones weren't working, their computers were down but they immediately helped me and within minutes got somebody to inspect it. I was literally in and out within 15 mins and they were busy! I walk up to the counter to pay and they said I'm good and don't need to pay. I was shocked and it made my day! These guys are nice and caring and not here to nickel and dime you like a big business. Even though the inspection was only $7 (which also shocked me how affordable it is), they didn't have to cover it. I would've happily paid. The facility is very nice and clean. I usually dread going into any auto repair places because it's chaotic with long wait times and everything smells like rubber. This auto place is the first positive experience I've had. Rather than just sell me a new tire and make a buck, they recommended I go back to where I'd originally purchased it, as it was likely under warranty. Earlier this month I had an incident with my vehicle and had to have it worked on while I was out of town. I have to say Reliable Auto is definitely mine. They are not high pressure mechanics and always explain the full scope of repairs and help me identify what works for my budget. I had repairs done to my rotors and also needed new tires on my truck. When I got my truck back it was explained that they gave me better quality tires than I ordered because these were just a little bit more but they gave them to me for the same price as the ones I ordered. I was blown away and it's customer focused actions like this that really make the difference and set these guys apart from the other shops. I've taken very good care of my vehicles and now that I'm older I can't do many of the things I used to do on my own. I talked to Kevin and explained that I have a 10-year-old truck that I want to keep and needed to know what was recommended to make that happen. I do not understand at all why they have high reviews. I went to them because of the reviews. But I did not leave with a good/happy experience. I went to them for my AC motor... when I took it in the motor was blowing loud and kept popping the AC AND heater off... but the AC was blowing COLD and the heat was blowing HOT... as I was there I got a oil change... when I received my car back the blower was no longer loud. But the AC was no longer cold. I called back, and they told me to come back pay $99 so they could do the diagnostic. I told them it felt like it just needed some freon... they wouldn't do it without charging me the $99... so I went to auto zone got a can of Freon and it blew COLD AC.. all the while my car is beeping that I need a oil change because they didn't reset the sensor. Then here the cold comes in, and there is NO heat.... I call back for them to tell me to bring it back and they will charge me $99 to diagnose it because they only fixed the blower... But I do not understand. When I came in, it was LOUDLY BLOWING COLD AND HOT. Now I have problems with both... I think maybe they want to get over on women. I would save my money and go elsewhere. Tl;dr: Started with one problem, ended up with four, and lost money in the process. Also they lie. My AC compressor had been making noise for a few years and finally my AC stopped working. I went around and got quotes for replacing the AC compressor and Brad H, apparently the owner, quoted me $771 plus tax. Despite making an appointment, Mark told me there'd be an hour and a half until they could look at my car. Since I arrived at 3, that would be 4:30. When I said I'd wait, Mark then changed his story to they wouldn't be able to get to it tonight by close at 5. That would be two hours, which is more than an hour and half. Also, I checked their website and they close at 5:30, which would be two and a half hours, still more than an hour and a half. Mark was adamant about not getting to it until tomorrow. I wasn't willing to come back at 7:30 the next morning as I work second shift and was unable to come back tomorrow afternoon due to some plans. So I decided to leave my car overnight and booked a ride share. When I went to my car to grab some stuff, it had been moved from the parking lot to the bay. The hood was up and my car no longer responded to my fob. By then I couldn't cancel my ride share without being charged, so I went back to Austin. At 4:19, within the original hour and a half quote, I got a call about my car from Mark. Unsurprisingly, the AC compressor failed and needed to be replaced, along with the expansion valve and condenser. I was then quoted 1767.79, more than double the original quote. When I mentioned this, Mark said that if I could give a written quote from a reputable automotive shop or dealer, they would price match. Upon saying the quote was from Brad H, the owner, Mark made it clear that he would not be price matching, meaning that he doesn't consider his employer/shop to be reputable. Mark went on to say that when the compressor fails, the manufacturer recommends the expansion valve and condenser be replaced as well, hence the price difference. If it's recommended by the manufacturer, why wasn't it in the original quote? Were they just not going to do what the manufacturer recommended? I doubt the manufacturer recommendations changed in the day between the two quotes. So I had to book another ride share from Austin down to Buda to pick up my car. Upon arriving, Mark mentioned that shady mechanics will quote several hundred dollars for the compressor, and then come back later saying that the valve and condenser need to be replaced, too for a bunch more. That is exactly what they just did to me, so they're a shady mechanic by his standards. I didn't want to have anything more to do with them, so got my key and left. Fortunately my fob was working again, but on the drive home, my power steering failed and the battery and e-brake warning lights came up on my dashboard. Those were all working normally after the compressor failed, but before these folks had their hands on my car. And they had plenty of time between knowing I declined the repairs and giving me my car back. read more

I called Reliable Automotive and asked if they could look at my left brake light. My driver's side tail light wasn't turning on for braking or for my turn signal. Let me start off by saying that this was my second visit with Reliable Automotive. My car broke down on the side of IH 35. It was the first time I had ever had a car break down on me. I called them and they retrieved the vehicle and kept me up-to-date on everything. The repairs came to $875. I did not have that type of money laying around to afford the repairs because my hours are cut at work. They worked with me on the price and were very kind and understanding. I've gone to Reliable Automotive for car issues twice now and have been very happy with both experiences. Staff is friendly and does a great job explaining what they think may be the problem prior to looking at the vehicle, and then explaining. Prices are extremely reasonable - I know I could have easily paid more elsewhere. I also got 10% off for having AAA, which was pretty awesome. Couches are comfy and there are some eating and shopping places nearby to kill time if you choose to wait there (if not, they will drop you off, if needed). One thing to keep in mind is that the online scheduling system doesnt do much for you. I was just told to get there as soon as possible for the Saturday I was going, but that did not hold my spot. This place has high ratings here on Yelp, so I figured I'd give it a try. That being said: The place is nice, spacious, and clean, and the staff is polite. I came here to get my oil changed, and the cost was $35, so about average for this service type. I knew that I had to get my brakes changed, and the mechanics did point this out to me also (because they do a free tire rotation with an oil change). However, I am rating three stars because despite informing staff that my tires were new, (they didn't need to be rotated yet) I was called out to the bay area because they had taken my tires off to rotate them, after I had declined the offer. In addition, because my brakes were in bad shape, I got a quote to see how much it would cost me to get my brakes changed at Reliant. The invoice they gave me was for over $800! Almost $400 of that was for labor! That's still a crazy high estimate for a set of brakes and rotors, so I just ordered a full set of pads/rotors from an online store, did it myself in under 2 hours, and didn't even spend $250. In summary, three stars for a standard oil change, with a standard speed of service, and an average price. Minus two stars for performing a task that didn't need to be done, after I had declined the offer, and for an astronomically high price quote on a job that was not worth that amount of money for the parts and labor involved. read more

On 11/29/23 I took my car in to Reliable Automotive. Ray was the service advisor who assisted me with my car issue which turned out to be a faulty injector. Three days later my car was ready for pick up. Upon arrival I was presented with a repair bill of $1,119. Two weeks later I returned and questioned the bill at which time Ray was dismissive and rude about my concerns and simply said that all cost are computer generated and there was nothing further he could do for me at which time he suggested that I speak to Eric the manager. After showing him the invoice he too said that all service cost are computer generated. (The old computer generated routine) I then pointed out that each spark plug replacement was with tax $49.68 for a total cost of four of $198.67. The average cost per spark plug for a 2019 Kia Soul is $11.49. Ray advised me that he gave me $100 labor cost discount but that was not reflected on the invoice. After further negotiations the manager Eric apologized and reduced my total bill a few hundred dollars. I assured the Manager that I would simply leave and not submit a negative review however when I asked Ray if he owed me an apology or explanation he told me that he would not apologize nor give me an explanation. Initially Ray was friendly and helpful but after this situation he was obviously annoyed with me. I was very disappointed with my first time experience. read more

I took my 2014 Ram Pickup truck in for an oil gasket leak which was originally reported to me by Service One Automotive in Buda. I decided to get the work done for the leak by Reliable in Buda. When I called them and spoke to Justin I was told it would be around 292.00. The following day I was told it was not an oil leak but a transmission gasket leak, I was told the whole pan along with the gasket would be required to be replaced. They quoted me around 700-to 800 dollars for this service. I got there at about 2 PM on the 18th of January, I was told by Justin they would not be able to get to it until the 19th. I said fine since I did bring it in late. Well the 19th rolls around and it is late in the day around 4 PM and no call from Reliable calls me on the status of my truck. I called them and then the "tap" dancing began. All the reasons why they were not able to get to the truck in a timely manner. What I could not understand is why no one had called me about this...bad customer service! The truck stayed an additional day. I picked up the truck on the 20th two days after I brought it in. They tell me everything is good on the truck they have test driven it to make sure everything was Ok, What they did not do is check to see if the the leak issue had been resolved. It had not the oil was still leaking. I bring the truck back on the 26th, they check it out and tell me the oil filter housing is leaking and must be replaced. My question was why was this not brought to my attention the first time. Eric told me the mechanics were concentrating on the transmission case and did not see the oil leak. Kind of hard to believe this! Very frustrating on my part. Then came the shocker the repair would cost me another 700.00 or more. Wow they must have seen dollar signs on my face. Now Eric made one good point that unfortunately did not materialize in my brain until much later...he said that a transmission oil leak is red! Hmm when I saw the original leak that I took it in for it was not red but looked more like oil and it was up close to the engine not where the transmission case is. In addition they had overcharged me for the transmission oil which of course was corrected by Eric and I was given a credit for the overcharge. I will say the people at Reliable are real nice, but there business practices leave a lot to be desired. You go for one thing and it winds up being another. I am beginning to believe the transmission case leak the not exist but that was the repair that was made. I wonder if they are like a lot of oil change business's trying to find something more expensive to charge you for. Needless to say I was not happy with the service I received and the way I was made to wait for my truck for two day...and it still leaks. I will get the oil filter housing work done but not by them. I have lost confidence in Reliable. I believe that is what a business should strive for to have the customers confidence. Once lost that is hard to re earn! A lot of good reviews in YELP...unfortunately I am not one of them! Please consider other places for automotive repairs before going to these guy! 'Nuff said!! read more

Truck broke down with transmission problems. I had truck towed to this shop. Friendly conversation and very sympatic on the phone. Their mechanic try to move it by putting it in gear "nothing", quoted $2800 for a 95 chevy that was worth about $800, told them too much for an old truck, so they charged me $110 for the getting in truck and trying to shift it into gear. read more

Dropped off our 2015 Fusion to have the shifter cable bushing replaced and Reliable called to let us know that part was under recall from Ford and to take it there for a free repair. Reliable could have very easily done the repair without telling me about the recall but they value their customers and we were able to get the Fusion fixed at no cost.
