The heat in my dryer stopped working in mid-August. I called RA and the first available appointment was 2+ weeks later. They came out on 9/1, took the dryer apart, determined the problem and told me they thought they had the part. After ~15-20 minutes, it was determined that the part was likely on another truck and they couldn't get it until they got back to the shop that evening. I asked if they would call me and was told that it would be best if I called them the next day because it was unlikely anyone would contact me. The service technician wrote up an invoice for $99 (for coming out) plus $105 for "labor" and $89 for the part. I paid the $99 and indicated the rest would be paid upon completion of the service. I called the following morning and was told by the front desk person that she didn't have any info and would have someone call me. After receiving no call, I called again before they closed and the front desk person went to talk to someone and then came back on the line and told me they didn't have the part and that it would be 7-10 business days before they could get it. I asked if I could schedule an appointment and she said they would not schedule an appointment until the part came in. At that point, they were scheduling at least 3 weeks out - so waiting ~2 weeks for the part and then an additional 3 weeks to have them come out was unacceptable. I asked her for the part number, called a local appliance store where it was in stock (for less than the quoted $89), purchased it the same day and put it in myself. I did not hear back from RA until yesterday (12/8) when they contacted me to let me know that the part for my dryer was available and they wanted to schedule an appointment to come fix it. They said they would be closing out my case at the end of the week. When I called them back, I told the front desk person that it has been 3+ months and I already fixed the dryer since no one seemed interested in contacting me. She said she would update the notes. I guess I will find out if they try to charge me more for their incomplete service. read more

Reliable Appliance is all that they claim to be, reliable! I never call the repair people myself, my property manager takes care of it. And they always call reliable. They have fixed for me a number of things, gas heater, hot water, wash machine and probably some other stuff. They are awesome, when the schedule a time I have never seen them be late! And one time when it was hot water that needed fixed they came that very night, all it took was resetting my hot water but they did it that night. I am so happy that my property managers count on them, because they are great. The technicians they send are friendly, and kind to my dog (she can be obnoxious). I've always used Reliable Appliance for repairs to my 4plex washer and dryer. They have been same day repairs and have been generous to bill me as a commercial client. I have been more than happy with their customer service for 13 years as repairs came up. I recently purchased a new coin op washer and needed them to set up the coinbox and level it for me as this was not done by lowes installers. They completed this very quickly without issue. I discussed doing a clean out of my dryer vent because I had heard this was important to prevent blockages, etc. They told me that Vent Doctors of Alaska handles vent cleaning to the outside. Their number is 677-3616. They also said that if vent doctors find a lot of blockage between machine and inside wall, then they will come out to clean inside the machine as it can get backed up. That is, Reliable will do that cleaning that is closer to the machine. I feel they do a fantastic service in keeping their clients informed of best practices, and I'm glad that I now know I should keep my dryer vent clear at least once a year. Call Reliable Appliance. UN-RELIABLE APPLIANCE! I am so embarrassed. I recommended these folks to a friend. What a mistake. I thought they checked the second hand washing machines before they sold them. WRONG. My buddy got one that was a dud. They could not fix it (does not spin) even after two service visits. She got a second machine which leaks badly and has a bad transmission (can't be fixed after 2 or 3 visits). They have been to her house 4 or 5 or 6 times already. Take time off from work and meet the repair person, and they do not have the parts. And can not fix the machine. And deal with the flood in the laundry room. She is either going to or has already consulted a lawyer. Fuss, bother, flood, lack of a washing machine, and waiting for the repairs... Big waste of time, effort, and money. Ok so Logan the general manager got back to me and was concerned about my experience, which was awesome. He basically gave me the price of the fridge as store credit which was really good of him, especially considering how long ago some of the issues were. So 4 stars because This took a bunch of my time (read original review) and I had to pay another 250 on top of the credit to get a fridge I was comfortable with. It also took a very long time to get the working fridge for a multitude of reasons. Also the guys who brought the fridge in and out broke my floor trim, dented my hand rail on both side of my entry and hit the trim around the door. They were nice guys but getting my house dented up kinda sucks. However the fact that the leadership wants to take care of their customers the way Logan did is a very good sign and I appreciate that and the fact that I have a new working fridge and they did the exchange even thought it caused some dinges. read more

Our refrigerator needed repair and waited over 3 weeks for them to fix it. Do they even keep parts in stock? Every time my family or I have used them they take 10 days to come to an appt, have to order parts, and then doesn't prioritize the appointment to install so wait another 7 days! We're not using high end appliances--talking Whirlpool Home Depot specials. I hate that this company has a monopoly in Alaska--especially when $300 in food and condiments has to now be replaced. Wow. I'm appalled. This business has the worst customer service. I bought a Maytag Washer/Dryer set a few months ago at Lowes and the latch on my door broke. Since the are still under warranty, Reliable Appliance is the only certified business in town who can fix it without me paying anything out of pocket. Anywho.. it's been almost 3 weeks and I'm still waiting. Like others have said, their scheduling sucks. I've been having to wash clothes at my boyfriends house. I have 3 kids.. so it's getting pretty difficult. I've talked to the lady who answers the phone about all this and they have no solution to offer their customers. They didn't even apologize for missing my first scheduled appointment! When they finally did make it over 5 days later, they said they don't have the part.. I took a day off work wating for them just to have them tell me the next day (since they dont answer the phone after 5pm) that they never had an appointment for me at all. I called to have my refrigerator ice maker fixed. They ordered 3 parts, from what I was told. It's now almost 4 weeks and they're still waiting for the 3rd part. I wonder where they ordered the part from. Makes me regret paying in advance. I have 3 units being rented out by my property manager and this is the company they use when they need repairs done. I feel bad for the people who weren't happy with the service or the swiftness of the repair. I have HSA for appliance insurance repair, which is a great option because things go out and it's really expensive to repair or replace out of pocket. Recently my ice maker in my freezer quit working. Went online to HSA and was booked to have a technician come out in 2 days. Paul was a nice fellow and diagnosed and repaired the problem under an hour. He even gave me a tip to repurpose part of my cabinets, which was pretty great. For a previous HSA repair Denali Appliance was used and was more than satisfactory but is in Wasilla. Another friend who uses HSA said this company has been great and I agree. This could have gone very wrong, but Steve, I believe he is the manager, saved the day. He was very professional, knowledgeable and worked toward making our customer experience a positive one. We set out to purchase a washing machine. Checked out the Reliable Appliance website which was very helpful, even has a link to their Craigslist listings (which I thought was awesome!) first time I've seen that-very helpful. I saw a few machines I was interested in, did my homework on Consumer Reports and set out to purchase it. We purchased our machine, a Samsung VRT HE Top loading, took it home, ran a load, and it was making a terrible noise. It was defective. So, we loaded it back up and took it back down to the store. Steve asked us what happened, I presented him with a video of the machine in action, and he said he would work with us to make this right. We negotiated for another machine, which was new, and he ran it through test cycles before we took it home. The new machine is great; we are very happy with it's performance and our customer service experience when we ran into trouble. BTW, it's a Maytag top loading Bravos XL Steam MCT MVWB755DW0. It was the only one they had at the time, the selection changes constantly. Check reviews and ratings when you buy appliances. Scan the QR codes, look up whatever you can find. Bring your smartphone with you to the store, they do not mind. Steve is very knowledgeable about reviews as well. The only negative, I must report, is with the front office. There is a palpable feeling of "don't bother me" hiding behind computers. Not very welcoming, unhappy people. Maybe they are overworked, or just wrong for the job, or just don't get along, who knows? It's just unpleasant. That's why this is a 4 star rather than a 5 star. read more

This business has the worst service. I bought a Samsung Refrigerator with an extended warranty a few years ago at Lowes. I did a lot of research and found out the evaporator fan wasn't working; so now my fridge is unplugged because it cannot cool the inside. Since the fridge is still under warranty, I called to have my fridge repaired. The warranty department scheduled my appointment for that coming Friday between 9-5 it was the first available appointment, (at this point I have been without a fridge for a week) Apparently, Reliable Appliance is the only appliance business in town who will work on Samsung appliances. Reliable calls Thursday evening and proceeds to tells us that Lowes is incorrect their next available appointment isn't until Monday 9-5 (how is between the hours of 9-5 an appointment) or we can go on-call. So, we decide to stay with the Monday appointment (just in case) but go on call as well. We get a call late Friday stating they had a cancelation for Saturday between 3-5; however, we must pay a $25.00 weekend service fee that warranty won't cover. How is this my responsibility? We originally had an appointment scheduled for Friday and they bumped us to Monday. We end up paying the stupid fee because we need our fridge back; buying daily groceries gets expensive. Saturday the technician (nice guy btw) comes out and tells me what I already know, the fan is not working, and he needs to order a new one. WTH!! I told Lowes all of this they knew the fan was bad, why not get one ordered before you come to "service" the fridge. He says it will take the part a week to arrive. (this makes 2 weeks without a fridge) I received a phone call, (it is Thursday) stating they received the part. The next available appointment is next Thursday, a week out. This will put me 3 weeks without a fridge. I find this scheduling service appalling. This could easily have been avoided if they had looked at their notes that clearly stated the error code telling them what was wrong and ordered parts before servicing the fridge. I will never call Reliable Appliance for service and I will encourage other people to call another appliance service business. read more

When I moved into my new house, the dishwasher was not working. I put in a claim with the home warranty, and they connected me with Reliable Appliance. Scheduling the appointment was completely hassle-free, and the technician (I believe his name was Mike) was extremely polite, friendly, and competent. He was very careful to keep everything in my house very clean, and the dishwasher was up and running again after less than two hours. He then explained to me what the error code meant, what had happened to cause it, and what all he had done to correct it. He also noticed a leak in the drain system and fixed that for me as well. Had them come out on Tuesday with 2 used controllers (should have asked if they guarantee the parts to work. hindsight is 20 20) for freezer/frigerator temp controls on a 2006 vintage Fridgidaire. Tech installed them both, said it should cool down overnight. 28 hours later still have 45 degrees in frig/28 above in freezer with water dripping out of icemaker dispenser. That was not the fix I was looking for after waiting for a tech revisit in "far-flung" E.R. where they don't come out as often. I am going with another company that had an opening the same day I called for E.R. Would give Reliable Appliance a zero if allowed. read more

We called this company to try and fix our washing machine. The repairman looked at it for about 10 minutes then said it would be too costly to fix and that we should just buy a new machine (and charged us a $90 service charge). The same day my husband figured out it was just a broken water pump, got the part for $60 here in town and installed it himself. Poor service from "reliable" appliance. I've paid over $300 on two visits for a similar problem which have take less than an hour for the two repairs. Beware of the double pricing. Reliable charges you for the honor of visiting your home (Service call - $79) and then charges you an hourly rate of $79/hr whether they are there for an hour or 5 minutes. The part cost $20 each. Not sure how they are able to keep with this pricing structure. There must be other capable repair services out there that isn't charging $150 the minute they walk in your door. I haven't seen any other repair services that charge for showing up. Look elsewhere. read more

The staff seem knowledgeable, appointments aren't too challenging to work around. We bought a home with a used appliance. It broke a few weeks ago and they repaired it under the 6 month warranty. This week water kept coming so I thought it was broken. They came. (They're close to my house & were here 5 minutes.) Charged me around $100. This makes me not buy a used appliance or repairs from them in the future. Sad. They seemed great except for this policy which wasn't stated to me.
