Paul at Reliable Appliance performed excellent service on our Viking stove! Initially, the thermostat on our oven was sheared off by myself but the whole thermostat had to be replaced since it's directly attached to the knob shaft. The new part wasn't working and the stove was blinking on/off with the oven light when turned on. After the new part came in the same issue started reoccurring. Paul did some additional troubleshooting and discovered one of the pins on the connectors wasn't making full contact. Therefore, Paul recommended bypassing the plug to directly connect to the control board. After bypassing the bad connector he tested out the circuit and made sure everything was crimped down properly. I believe Paul is Reliable Appliance's master technician who's worked on other appliances of ours as well. Great job Paul! read more

My husband spent a lot of time on the phone with RA and they put in the system the part we needed - including giving them serial number for the dishwasher and explaining that we needed the main circuit panel. I stopped by to pick it up, got home with it and it was the wrong part, we opened the box but didn't even take it out bc once we opened the box it was obvious it was the wrong part. This was after multiple attempts to repair old dishwasher were unsuccessful over about 5 months due to multiple appointments spanning parts orders and unavailability of technicians' appointments. New dishwasher installed so quickly that he bragged about his best time! He asked me to have a final check of it. When I did, I found that the door was hitting something when closing it. We tried to troubleshoot and had different opinions. He said he had other customers waiting so he went on his way. I continued to troubleshoot and found that the mounting brackets were not used correctly per the instructions. I was able to get it to fit better myself. read more

SMH I was initially so pleased to see that he reached out to us to ensure that what happened to us doesn't happen to others, but no luck. I ordered a dishwasher through Costco and Reliable was scheduled to do the installation. The service man was very nice. However, he was not able to do an above mount with the dishwasher so he did a side mount. The dishwasher now sticks out instead of being flush, ended up being crooked and is barely attached on one side. I called Reliable to request someone come back and try to fix this. They set it up, assured me they'd send a different installer to try to get this fixed. I was given a time frame of 9:00 to noon. At 3:42 I got a call from the same person who did the original installation that he was on his way. So, they were not sending a different person, per my request and what they assured me, and almost 4 hours later than the end of the time frame I was given. I am having someone else take care of the installation, which unfortunately I will have to pay an additional fee for. read more

Our Kenmore upright freezer is 20 years old. It has a temperature gauge on the front and a fast freezer feature. The gauge started flashing and giving us trouble a week ago. We called Reliable to see if it could be fixed. They quoted us a $99 minimum. The repairman came and was here for 15 minutes. He pulled it out and looked at it. Told my husband what was wrong with it. Said it would be very expensive too fix it. Charged us $49 for labor on top of the $99 minimum. We don't recommend these people! $149 an hour is way over the going service rate!! Especially when it was really a quarter of an hour. That really comes to $600 an hour!!! read more

During the course of the pandemic my washer needed repair and Sears put me in contact with Reliable Appliance for my warranty. The part was on order for quite a long time due to supply chain shortages, but in the interim Reliable was able to keep my washer working until the part came in and they could repair it. This required replacing a different part as well because the part that originally was an issue caused damage to a second part since I continued to use the washer because what are you gonna do in a pandemic when you've got to wash your clothes. I certainly didn't want to go to a laundromat not knowing what was going on and how serious the pandemic was. But since it's really just a bad cold I could've gone to the laundromat. Reliable has been awesome and very helpful at repairs and replacement parts. They even had an power cord for my stove which I never knew when you ordered the new stove you had to also order a power cord because they don't come with the stoves, really stupid if you ask me. Reliable was the only place that had the cord that I needed right away, because of course Sears didn't have the cord that went with the stove I ordered from them to replace my stove that had died. Sears told me I should've ordered the cord with the stove and that it would take at least two weeks if not three or four to get me the power cord. I swear by Reliable Appliance. read more

He inspected my microwave oven to assess the repairs required and discussed with me the breakdown in parts on my microwave. Rick told me his recommendation to get the microwave up and running with necessary repairs. If you don't know how much you appreciate your microwave, try going without it for several days. Pertinent example: some packaged food gives microwave instructions but doesn't even include conventional oven. Microwave ovens have taken over the kitchen and it is a rewarding experience to get a repairman who treats the request for help with the seriousness it deserves for the benefit of the homeowner. On December 20, I called reliable appliance to order replacement parts for my washing machine after Allen & Peterson referred me to them. They took my order over the phone and ordered the parts. On January 7th I called to Reliable Appliance to see if the parts had arrived. One of the 2 parts had arrived so I stopped by and picked it up. On January 18th, I called Reliable again to see if the second part had arrived. They said it had just come in the day before (Jan 17). I immediately stopped in to pick up the part. There was a date stamp received on Jan 7. When I asked the gentleman at the front desk at Reliable why I hadn't been called. He said, given Reliable is the only appliance repair shop in anchorage, they don't need to worry about providing good customer service!!! Here's an opportunity for competition in anchorage. Just order your parts online from the manufacturer and put Reliable out of business. What a horrible attitude they have toward their customers!!! read more

The heat in my dryer stopped working in mid-August. I called RA and the first available appointment was 2+ weeks later. They came out on 9/1, took the dryer apart, determined the problem and told me they thought they had the part. After ~15-20 minutes, it was determined that the part was likely on another truck and they couldn't get it until they got back to the shop that evening. I asked if they would call me and was told that it would be best if I called them the next day because it was unlikely anyone would contact me. The service technician wrote up an invoice for $99 (for coming out) plus $105 for "labor" and $89 for the part. I paid the $99 and indicated the rest would be paid upon completion of the service. I called the following morning and was told by the front desk person that she didn't have any info and would have someone call me. After receiving no call, I called again before they closed and the front desk person went to talk to someone and then came back on the line and told me they didn't have the part and that it would be 7-10 business days before they could get it. I asked if I could schedule an appointment and she said they would not schedule an appointment until the part came in. At that point, they were scheduling at least 3 weeks out - so waiting ~2 weeks for the part and then an additional 3 weeks to have them come out was unacceptable. I asked her for the part number, called a local appliance store where it was in stock (for less than the quoted $89), purchased it the same day and put it in myself. I did not hear back from RA until yesterday (12/8) when they contacted me to let me know that the part for my dryer was available and they wanted to schedule an appointment to come fix it. They said they would be closing out my case at the end of the week. When I called them back, I told the front desk person that it has been 3+ months and I already fixed the dryer since no one seemed interested in contacting me. She said she would update the notes. I guess I will find out if they try to charge me more for their incomplete service. read more
