That's what I'd tell anyone walking into their showroom, but if your a home chef wanting to have the top selections of products from Refrigerators, Stoves, Microwaves, Bread Warmers, Dishwashers, Washers & and oh so many other appliances well, pop your eyeballs back in your heads! This is Alaska and many can afford to seek out the high end offered here! Brands include Wolf, Jenn-Air, Viking, Bosch, but don't think they don't have GE, Whirlpool, and many others were all used to. It really runs the gamut of mid, high and exceptional. YES, and they have sales occasionally too! We bought a wide Jenn-Air 42' refrigerator (standard is 36') from them when we built our home. I get the replacement water filters from them, but today I saw (angels singing in the background) The 'It' Grill! It's a Napoleon grill. I stopped and had to come back to it over and over. It was their smallest model. (4-9 month order lead time.) Biggest model has a Wok burner w/high BTU, big grill surface, irradiant heat burners, wood smoker drawer and rotisserie attachments, plus special stainless expanding grill grates. Ok this in on my 2022/2023 order list! This is the sexiest grill we must have! SOLD! I'm drooling typing this! My Costco Grill has served me well but it's time to jump up to the Best In Class! Erik explained it all and more. The grill will be close to $5K and can be bought with propane or natural gas. We ran natural gas lines for just this reason to our deck. Absolutely horrendous service, no follow-up, ruined kitchen cabinetry during install, does not used licensed electricians, 5 days with a range sitting in my living room because of their error and no apology or return calls to try to reschedule. Spoke with Donald and he placed the blame on the customer, its the customer's fault that the manufacturer of the appliance had changed the type of wiring, its the customer's fault and the installation department's fault that no one installed the appliance, it's someone else's fault that the installation guys cut into and ruined our cabinetry. Does not once acknowledge that as a representative and salesperson for Allen Peterson and the person with whom I have contact that it is his responsibility to make sure that the installation is proceeding as planned AND if it doesn't go according to plan, it is his job to rectify it. I've bought many appliances from A&P in the past and have had issues but have had salespeople remedy the situation. This is the first time that I've had a sales person take no responsibility. We have purchased over $10,000 worth of top of the line appliances from Allen and Petersen. Unfortunately, we have either repaired each appliance numerous times or replaced. Our most recent is our Viking stove listed below that has taken over 2 months to get parts in. I find it odd that Viking states it only takes 7-10 business days to receive parts. Also, the managers of the parts department will just say sorry its taking so long without ever trying to make it right with some sort of parts discount or reimbursement of sorts. Its as if no one cares after you purchase their products. I find it extremely coincidental that all our Home Depot appliances are humming along after years of service but AP appliances don't seem to last past the 1 year warranty or break shortly thereafter. Electrolux Icon Refrigerator - Repairs motherboard, ice maker broke twice ate $464 a pop and just use ice trays now after the 3rd Time. Electrolux compactor - stopped compacting after 18 months now we just use as garbage can Electrolux Microwave - Magnetron broke replaced with Maytag model from Home Depot. Pay and Paykel dual dish drawer - Repaired both pumps in both drawers GE Wash machine - Replaced motherboard Viking - Knob fell off within 2 months and had to wait over 2 months for 3 parts to come in. Just visited this store looking for stove top and fridge options. The customer service left a lot to be desired. I was helped by Samantha and I've never met someone so useless in customer service. She didn't even attempt to act like she wanted to help us. We were in the market to spend 4-6k, and although that's not enough to break the bank for them, I will not be giving them my service. Thieves!! (literally) and unbelievably poor customer service. I recently purchased a dishwasher from them. While installing it, their delivery guys stole my girlfriends phone. We located it at their house through "find my iPhone", yet they continuously denied it. Apparently one of them had just been released from jail. Are these the kind of people you want in your house?! This was bad, but the real reason for the one star is that the staff at Allen and Peterson were incredibly unhelpful and RUDE in regard to helping us try and recover the phone. Randy, the salesman was condescending. Alec, the delivery manager, was actually a complete A-hole, telling her to "file a police report and sue us." Lisa, the Store Manager said she would replace the phone, but it's been over 24 hours and we still haven't heard anything from her. I could go into way more detail but it's not worth my time. What you simply should know is that they will send thieves into your home, not do anything about it when your stuff is stolen and then treat you like its your fault. This was some of the poorest service I've ever encountered- which is saying something. I can guarantee I would have had more support and help from a box store, which is pathetic. We built a new home last year and knew exactly what we wanted when it came to appliances. We experienced excellent customer service when we ordered from Allen & Peterson. Not only do they carry top of the line appliances, they go above and beyond and will price match and beat local competitors pricing, including the box stores. We had ordered our range hood from another company and didn't realize we needed a special extension kit for the duct, due to a taller ceiling. We went round and round with an online company (I've written that review too) and talked to local sheet metal companies to manufacture the extension for us. A&P ordered the part for us, however it didn't get shipped in the time frame promised. That was out of their control, their vendor ultimately failed us. What A&P did next though was over the top!! They called to let us know the parts were in and due to all of the problems in getting it here and in a less than timely manner, it was gifted to us. By no means are we talking about thousands of dollars, but that is not the point at all. They stepped up to make things right for us, and they have customers in us for life. I've attended cooking classes as well that were super fun! My sister in law and I went to a class a couple years ago for a night out and had a great time!! Thoroughly enjoyed our time and I would recommend it highly! We have a great deal of experience in the kitchen and entertaining, but it was still fun. They carry top of the line products, large and small, they're always eager to assist along with letting you browse on your own after checking on you. On March 26th, 2022 I had my Speed Queen washer delivered by Jason Luvaas & Nick Kokotovich with Allen & Petersen. They were running a little late (only 10 mins) and called to apologize and let me know they were on their way. Once they arrived, they were friendly and professional. They took the utmost care in getting the washer down off the truck. I would estimate at least 1/2 hour to unbox it, remove certain bolts and lower the platform. Once the platform was on the ground, they took great care again to attach themselves with straps to ensure that they were both balanced and had the load securely before moving. They loaded my washer into the house ever so gently, so as not to touch the walls and such. At that point, I went off to busy myself with something else. It was a while later that Jason came to tell me they were finished, and he wanted me to have the honors of 'unwrapping my present'. I opened the laundry room door and saw my beautiful washer running. It was a happy moment! That was such a special touch on his part. It did indeed, feel like Christmas! In addition to their professionalism and expertise, they were both extremely friendly and easy to talk to. Although they had both had a long day (I was the last for that day), they were smiling and jovial. My brother and I were talking to them while they were working (which maybe we shouldn't have been) and they were laughing with us and attentive/responsive when we asked questions. I knew they were tired as it was 5 or 6 pm that day, yet they didn't rush the job or act put out in any way. Quite the opposite. I was thoroughly impressed with their work ethic and care that they put into their task. I can't say enough how much I appreciate their attitude. It makes me feel like I am an appreciated customer, rather than a bother. I had another delivery earlier that day from another company with whom I had the opposite experience. So the difference between the two companies was night and day. My hat is off to Jason & Nick for a job perfectly done and to Allen & Petersen for caring enough to hire people with their caliber. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. I went in last fall and ordered new appliances for my house to go in my remodeled kitchen. I paid in full on November 2, 2020 and was given delivery dates of 6 to 8 to 12 weeks, depending on item. A&P made none of these dates. Every 4 weeks or so, I'd ask about progress and get excuses and buck passing. 'It's the manufacturer, it's COVID.' After 12 weeks I began to get frustrated at yet another delay and they offered to give me money back. Finally, my oven arrived on 5/31 ... and I was told they were too busy to install it until the next week. Then, on install day, they changed the schedule 3 different times. 32 weeks to get an item that was supposed to be delivered in no more than 12 weeks. There were things they could have done and didn't. They could have found a demo or floor model for me, they could have found a different unit or a different brand. They could have paid their installer a little overtime to put it in the day after it arrived. They did none of those things. They did refund the $300 they originally charged me to install the oven but that is all they did. I went to A&P instead of Lowe's or Home Depot because I wanted to shop with a local company. That was a huge mistake; I spent 4 months living in a house with a remodeled kitchen and no oven because I hauled the old one to the dump, depending on A&P to keep their word. When I bitched to the Bosch rep out of Seattle, he told me the same excuses. Lesson learned. You may be very sure I will never spend a single dime with A&P the rest of my life. I'll build a fire in the yard and cook hotdogs every night before I do that. read more

We were in dire need of a freezer! We live off grid, 80 miles from the nearest road and I forgot to get a freezer while in town so it didn't get to the shipper at Deshka Landing. I haven't bought any large appliances at Allen & Peterson, but I've sure drooled over them when I've been over there to shop in the cooking supply section or to attend one of the classes upstairs. Nice stuff! I've purchased quite a few cooking gadgets there over the years and they have a pretty decent supply. I wouldn't rate them as the least expensive cooking store in Anchorage - but then again, everything I've ever bought there is top-notch. I guess you really do get what you pay for. One of the coolest things about the place is how friendly and helpful the staff are! Like John P. mentioned - I've been to several of the cooking classes upstairs over the years too. They are always a blast! I've only been to the "hands on" classes and I really like how much you get to do. Between being up to your elbows in flour or whatever it is you're cooking, laughing with the other participants, and then getting to sit down and enjoy what you all just made together, it really is a fun evening! Bought a $9,000 Miele refrigerator for my Homer cabin. I let them know where I was installing it and they never bothered to mention that if there was any services needs they would refuse to provide any service. So after using it for six months the freezer stopped working. We had to haul this 800 pound refrigerator back to Anchorage. A&P has now had it for two weeks and still can not tell me when it might be fixed. Randy, at the front desk actually had the nerve to say that if I had bought a refrigerator at Homer Depot they would have not come to work on it in Homer either. I WOULD NOT HAVE PAID $9,000 FOR A REFRIGERTOR AT HOME DEPOT YOU PUTZ!!! I will never buy anything at A&P again. However the Miele folks are GREAT, so from now on I will buy out of state and have it shipped up. read more

I bought our washer, dryer and refrigerator from Allen and Peterson. They have the highest end products in AK as far as I can tell, their employees know the products they sell and their extended warranty was painless to use and worth the price. Honestly, the sales person pushed me towards a less expensive fridge than the one I initially looked at because it was on sale and a trememdous value. I'm VERY happy he did. That built up enough trust that I went back to the same guy to buy washer and dryer. I wouldn't go anywhere else. The delivery team damaged our new hardwood floors, but all it took was one phone call and A&P promised to reimburse for repairs. I was so happy that they didn't even try to argue with me about responsibility. I know others in my condo complex who bought from a big box store, had similar damage and they took months getting argued with before there was a settlement. They sell products made by other companies-as good as those products may isn't up to A&P. That said, there were no problems getting a repairman out to fix our fridge within a day and the cost was covered by extended warranty. read more

Let me start by saying, we have always have wonderful customer service at the Wasilla Allen and Petersen location and I'm sad that we will never be purchasing another item from them. In November my washing machine began making a horrible sound, like something was trying to bust out of it. I called Allen and Petersen because that is where we purchased our machine. They where happy to schedule an appointment for a tech to come out and take a look. Within a week a nice gentlemen came to check out my machine. He found that the bolts that attach the concrete block on top of the tub had come loose. He applied Loctite to each of the three bolts and closed up the machine. During he's short 30 mins at my home, he informed me that it was his last day at A&P, I got a feeling he was in a bit of a hurry. Excited my machine was fixed, after he left I started a load of laundry. Within a few minutes of the machine running I could smell something burning, I turned the machine off and called A&P. The tech called me back and said that some of the dust from the concrete block may have gotten on the belt, he then suggested that I take the top off and clean the belt myself. I did not feel comfortable doing that called A&P again and they kindly sent a different tech out the next day. The new tech open the machine and ran it a few minutes. Said nothing was wrong with it and went off on his merry way. Three weeks ago, while doing a load of laundry my machine began make that some horrible sound, like something was trying to bust out of it. I figured the block had come loose again and removed the top in order to tighten the bolts. Upon opening the machine I immediately realized that one of the three bolts was missing. Called A&P again, since it was within the 90 days of the first repair they schedule a tech to come out on Tuesday free of charge. Yippee! Nope.... Tuesday morning received a call the tech was sick, but someone could come out Friday.....Yippee! Nope.....Friday I called and asked when the tech would be out, oops my appointment didn't make it into their system, but they could come out Saturday. *sigh* Yippee? On Saturday when the tech finally made it out he took a look at the machine and said, "The bolt did't come out it broke off. The only way to repair that is to replace the tub." Wow maybe the first tech should not have applied Loctite to the bolts because now it's really broken. The tech was very up front and said it was their fault because obviously there was something else wrong with the machine to cause the block and bolts to come loose. Said he would talk to the big wigs in Anchorage and we would hear from them Monday. Monday comes and goes, no call from A&P. Tuesday get a message stating they are still talking about a solution and I will hear from them later that afternoon....no call. Wednesday afternoon I called A&P because I still had not received a call, I was told that Kyle and crew were still discussing it and they will have a decision by Friday. Friday, again I called them. I was put on hold so they could decide what they were going to do. The girl in the service department said, "It would cost about $400.00 to replace the tub and that it still may not be fixable. What would you like to do?" I said we would be willing to take a credit towards another machine. Again I was placed on hold, about 5 mins later she come back on and said they would give us a $150.00 credit....WHAT?! We had been thinking at least $400.00 the cost of the part and maybe the $100 we had already spent to have the machine repaired. Really they were going to credit us $50.00 to break my machine. Ummmm, we needed to think about this. Monday morning I called A&P (again) and asked to speak to Kyle D. Mirka the Sales Manager, he wasn't available so I left a message. At noon after not receiving a call back, called again. Kyle was still not available, left another message. A few hours later the girl in the service department called and informed me that Kyle was still busy. I calmly asked if she could please explain why they thought $150 was a fair amount. She explained that a they sent a tech out twice as a courtesy and that even if they replaced the tub the machine may not be repairable. Well, it may have been repairable if the tech had fixed it correctly the first time. We did end up getting a $250.00 credit after much debate and reluctantly we purchased another machine from A&P. That will however be the last time I spend money at Allen and Petersen. Our overall customer service from the Sales Manager and the service department was horrific. Its sad that a locally owned business would give such horrible customer service. I wonder if Kyle will have the courtesy to reply to this review, being that he never did bother to return any of our phone calls. read more

DO NOT USE Allen and Petersen's appliance repair. I will not make that mistake again! I recently decided to try Allen and Petersen's appliance repair services. Big mistake. Their customer service is awful. I had to pay a $150 "diagnosis fee" up front to have two appliances repaired; an oven, and a dishwasher. I gave them the serial numbers and model numbers of both appliances, as well as the exact parts that needed to be replaced on both. No "diagnosis" required! I waited a week, and did not hear back from Allen and Petersen's Repair people. Nothing. I finally had to call them. They said that a repairman was sent to "diagnose" the appliances, and that I needed more parts than what I had mentioned. Guess what, those other parts were sitting against the wall in the dining room, right where I had told the service representative from Allen and Petersen! And why didn't they call me with this information? The service representative told me that she would have the repair technician call me, to discuss those other parts. I waited two days this time, and again did not hear back from them. So again, I had to call them instead. During this conversation I asked if the parts had been ordered. The same parts that I told them 9 days before that were needed to repair my two appliances. The same parts to the appliances that I had provided both the serial and model numbers of so they could order them right away. THEY HAD NOT EVEN ORDERED THE PARTS YET! I then let them know that I no longer wished to use their services, and asked for a full refund of my "diagnosis fee". 6 days later, and I finally received an envelope from them. I opened it up expecting a full refund of the "diagnosis fee", and see that they only wrote the check for $49.95! I will be demanding the remainder of my "diagnosis fee" back. DO NOT USE Allen and Petersen for your appliance repairs. THEIR SERVICE IS AWEFUL! read more

Allen & Petersen (Anchorage) have a questionable business practice in the repair department. First; they are not upfront about their labor charges. They advertise a flat "trip charge" fee of $99.95 for them to drive to your property and inspect the appliance but won't provide you a labor charge (hourly rate or per job). Note, they charge you $49.95 if you ask them to inspect a second appliance on the same trip. Second; they advertise that if you opt to do repairs thru them then the trip charge of $99.95 is credited to the repair cost. By the way, they decide which appliance "receives" the $99.95 trip charge "credit" and which receives $49.95 if more than one appliance is inspected. This will make sense further in the review. Now what I experience with them is they don't credit the trip charges after all. Third; if you bring up that either they failed to credit the trip charge to the repair cost or that they credit you the lesser trip charge (if you had more than one appliance inspected), then they say that your labor charge is higher than the one listed on the service order invoice. What a coincidence. Fourth, after speaking with the service manager I got no resolution to the dispute. The second invoice I received that supposedly clarified everything only indicated changes to the dollar figures in order to suite their bottom line... keeping the credit. Here is how it went down I bought a house with a cooktop and vent hood the rises behind the cooktop. I have never dealt with these types of appliances before. Well the cooktop was inoperable and the vent hood seen the same. I called Allen & Petersen (AP) service department to schedule an inspection. So they charged my CC $99.95 and $49.95 on 17 Oct 17 because of two appliances (what a rip-off). The tech showed up and inspected both appliances. Within 10 minutes he assessed that the cooktop needed repairs, but the vent hood did not. The hood simply was snagging (metal on metal) with the cooktop when it rose from the stowed position. It is a failure of installation not of operation. The tech looks at parts for repairs, for the cooktop, and estimates at $322 (parts and labor). So I accepted the repair work order thinking the $99.95 trip charge would be credited to the amount for the final invoice. My CC is charged $322.30 on 24 Oct 17. Fast forward almost month, the same tech comes over and within an hour replaces the faulty parts. The cooktop works (for an old appliance). He then leaves without leaving a service invoice. I had to call AP to get an invoice. I looked at the invoice which reads: Labor charge $142.7, trip charge $49.95, Switch $120.8, Thermocouple $58.8 for a total of $372.25. It also showed two payments by CC $49.95 and $322.3 which total 372.25. I noticed two things wrong with this invoice. One, it didn't show a credit of any kind, neither $99.95 nor $49.95. Second, it didn't show the payment I made of $99.95, it showed instead $49.95. AP decided to assign the $49.95 to the cooktop that needed repairs and $99.95 to the vent hood that didn't need repairs. When I brought this up to AP service department, their reply was that it was not "malicious intent" to assign trip charges of $49.95 to the appliance that needed repairs. The service manager stated the following "The labor to repair your cooktop was $242.65, but since it was your second appliance, the labor was discounted by $50.00. Instead of paying $242.65 you paid $192.65. " Wow 100 more than the listed labor charge of $142.7. Lastly the manager also stated the following "Looking at your hood order, we were able to repair it without parts for $99.95, where as if we had it at $49.95 we may have charged an additional labor fee. But it appears $99.95 was able to cover it! ". Wow where did she get the notion that the hood required and received repairs? The manager sent me a "corrected" invoice stating the following: Labor charge $142.7, trip charge $99.95, Switch $120.8, Thermocouple $58.8, Second appliance discount $50 for a total of 372.25. It also showed two payments by CC for $49.95 and $322.3. Now I have more questions: 1) what is the labor charge 142.7 or 242.65? 2) if the trip charge is 99.95 then why does it show second appliance discount of 50? 3) why does it show a CC payment of 49.95 instead of 99.95 since the trip charge is 99.95? The bottom line is that the business practices of Allen and Petersen service department are downright unethical or incompetent at best. On top of that they insult my intelligence in the process. Their service was remarkable! From start to finish they helped me through the whole process. They helped me find the products that I was looking for. They even delivered the appliances to my home around my own schedule (and cleaned up after themselves)! Randy immediately jumped to attention to help us find the appliance for us. He immediately asked the right questions and even offered product knowledge we didn't think to ask. When we brought up the difference between gas and electric he threw a third option at us - induction. He did a product demo and immediately we were hooked. I purchased an appliance from them and it quit working shortly after purchase. They ordered the parts multiple times that arrived broken and left my with a mess the entire time waiting for repair. After the repair was completed the appliance failed within a couple days again and at this point I asked for a return. They flat out said NO you have to repair the appliance. I love this place! I have taken multiple cooking classes here and I am always impressed with the skills that I learn. I have also purchased many appliances here including a washer and dryer, dishwasher, fridge, and others for my office. I have always been treated so well here and tell all of my friends about it. We bought a full full set of appliances in November and the freezer door (French door refrigerator with freezer on bottom) wasn't closing properly. Not the best of customer service, I walked into the store and couldn't find anyone to help me. Only got assistance when I was standing in one place waiting for help. Bought a $100 espresso machine and some accessories, only to find out the next day that the exact model is less than half the price on Amazon. Drove back to the store slightly agitated that I got swindled out of $50 bucks. Allen & Petersen does have a price match policy, but I told them the situation and she said they won't price match to Amazon. Well that would have been nice to know! Above that, they won't return unless it's unpackaged and she said I'd only get store credit. I'm surprised they've been able to stay in retail this long by overpricing, not holding to their policies, and sub par customer service. read more

I came in really frustrated, as I had just set my aging KitchenAid ablaze this morning by...whipping cream. The sales associate was incredibly helpful and friendly! Not only did I get a new stand mixer that I am in love with and feel suits my needs far better than my old one, but I walked out laughing! I'm not gonna lie-I'd avoided this store previously as they seemed, from the outside, to be upper crust and not the most comfortable place for someone with blue-collar sensibilities to shop. I was completely wrong and I am so glad I stopped. Thank you! I should also mention that although I prefer shopping local for appliances in case of repair issues, I was pleasantly surprised to discover the price I paid for my mixer was below Amazon's. read more

Be very cautious of using this company to schedule a service. I called to get service for a washing machine, gave model number and part number to representative by phone. I was told it would take a week for someone to get to house, so I waited and used duct tape to hold my repair. Technician came today & said they didn't stock the part for my machine, and would take another week to receive order. Once they quoted the part for $45 over what I found it online, minus shipping expense, I knew I was done. Calling back to the home office was futile as there was no solution offered as how we could resolve the problem, ie. them offering to express order the part which would have gone miles in restoring my satisfaction. When the technician arrived he wan apparently not authorized to offer any resolution, and did little to mend the situation. Very poor customer service and apparently no commitment to customer satisfaction. read more

Honestly, one of the worst experiences of my life. I'm in the middle of a kitchen remodel & I ordered a downdraft from a sales associate named Paul. He tells me it is coming in from Washington & won't be here until the Oct 20th almost 3 weeks after I order it. I repeatly ask if there is anyway it can get here earlier. He says no but assures me it will be here on the 20th & I can pick it up. I have to call cabinet installer & he pushes my install day back to accommodate the arrive time of the downdraft. I call a week before delivery & ensure everything is OK with the order. He says yes & it will be here on the 20th. On Saturday, the 20th, he tells me I can't pick it up until Tuesday because "it is sitting on the barge & they will not unload barge until Tuesday." The installer pushes my install day back by 1 day to accommodate. On Tues, there is one excuse after the other why I can't get it. The excuses make no since & he is horrible about returning my calls. On Wed, still no downdraft & no return phone calls. Later I find out, Paul had the day off & did not have anyone follow up on the downdraft. Finally, Thursday rolls around, & at 3 pm, Paul tells me that "I have more bad news. The downdraft was never sent." The item had been discontinued. This is more than 3 1/2 weeks into this process. He can order another one but it will take 2 more weeks to get. Paul was one of the most unhelpful sales associates I have ever encountered. I will NEVER purchase one thing from Allen & Petersen. My entire family is without a kitchen for at least another month due to Paul's lack of follow through with this entire process. I feel very sorry for him because I believe what comes around and goes around. I know one day he will get to experience the stress, emotional turmoil & disappointment that he has put me & my family through. DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE.
