Pure Barre in Toledo…read more I haven't been disappointed in the ethics of business like this in a long time. I bought a one month membership and was placed immediately, days after purchase, on a Covid wing assignment in Southern Ohio. I called back immediately and said I wouldn't be able to attend and can I please have a refund. I had not even taken one class. They said they would extend my membership by a week, which would do nothing so I sent them an email further clarifying the situation expecting them to be like, 'oh my goodness, we didn't understand, of course.' Their response was that, 'this is a really good deal.' I was shocked. I emailed them back in disbelief...'are you really not refunding me?' They didn't even have the courtesy to email me back. I was kind, polite and patient and they are literally stealing from clients as there was no exchange of goods for services paid. So if you have a busy schedule, or for any reason may need to cancel, these are the ethics of the people you are dealing with. Just go in knowing that.

Everyone was very welcoming at the front desk. I signed a waiver before class and got a pair of grip socks which the studio allowed me to borrow for free (I returned the socks back after class). BARRE CLASS -- The instructor Roni was awesome! She provided great cues/directions for all the different lifts and moves. I loved the addition of small weights, a ball, and a resistance band. I most likely won't be back for a barre class just because this type of workout isn't for me. I prefer high intensity training classes, sprints, and lifting weights. It would be super affordable for the half off price, but as a student, I could never pay the full membership fee. They do have some discounted summer specials for students, which I took advantage of. The equipment at the gym is fancy schmancy. There are tons of different cardio machines, each with their own TV screens, and I got a kick out of the bikes that have different virtual scenarios. What I loved the most were the exercise classes. During the two months that I used the gym, I went to Pilates, Barre Basics, Tummy Tush & Thighs, Insanity, and HIT Boot camp. I can handle rearranging some equipment and even closing the kids club, but if I can't get there because they close so doggone early it's not worth me paying for it. By the way, even though they cut out several hours per week of available gym time for clients, they did not cut out any of the very expensive monthly dues for members. This business is owned by ProMedica and if I didn't know any better I would think that they didn't care about encouraging people to live a healthy lifestyle, and that they only cared about money. And then I remembered that I am a ProMedica nurse and that is absolutely, 100%, the case! They made these changes to the hours from a financial standpoint, not thinking about their clientele or giving a crap if anyone actually visits the gym (so long as they pay their monthly dues).
