With so many competitive fitness brands and trainers in Bham, it's always a challenge to find the…read moreright place to go for routine workouts where you can feel comfortable and actually see a transformation on your physique. I tried various yoga, barre, and pilates' studios around the area and Releve is still where I choose to go! Releve offers a variety of barre and ballet 1-hr group classes, held in the AM/PM Monday - Friday and Sat AM class. All of these classes will give you a whole body workout, incorporate stretches in between sets, so you will leave feeling incredible. You will experience leaner muscles (not bulky), more flexibility, and great community support from the ladies you're in class with. I really value instructors that literally works out with you and motivates you to push yourself in each class. If you want to find a studio that treats you right and still get an amazing workout, try out a class with Releve!

When I found out I would be traveling to Michigan for Thanksgiving, I knew I had to find a class in the area to satisfy my 'barre addiction.' I am so glad I found Relevé! Relevé is a barre fitness studio located right off Woodward in Birmingham. It's small so the classes feel more intimate and you have better visibility from the instructors. There is also a lot of parking available, so it's easy to just pop in and start the class (as opposed to a huge commercial studio/gym in which you have to park far away, go through locker rooms, etc.). I attended three classes when I was in town - one with Donna (cardio) and two with Beth (basic and cardio). They are both WONDERFUL instructors (with beautiful ballet bodies, so you know this class works!) and gave me very challenging workouts. They were both patient, knowledgeable and able to describe the different moves and benefits as we transitioned from section to section. I instantly felt the 'burn' and lots of good shaking in my muscles during each of our sets. If you are unfamiliar with barre, I highly encourage you to check out barre and this studio. You don't have to be an expert ballerina to do well- you just have to have a positive mental attitude and a willingness to work hard. You will notice changes in your body immediately! I only wish I could stay in Birmingham to take more classes at this studio. The next time I am in town, I will definitely be back! Thanks, Donna and Beth, for the great workouts!

Don't know why My last yelp review wasn't sticking…read more I live in San Francisco, and in town visiting my folks. During the holidays, I was driving to Columbus 2/3x's a week just for my yoga and Pilates thru ClassPass. I just got back into town to see my folks for the month, and was sooooooo stoked to stumble upon this little gem of a yoga/ Pilates studio here in small town Mount Vernon Ohio. I wasn't sure what to expect at first, was a little skeptical coming from SF, cos I love a good hard Yoga/Pilates class to keep me in my best shape, and wasn't sure if I was going to get the same workout. Happy to report back that I love Hot Yoga Escape and highly recommend everyone or anyone to try this place out. The studio offers Bikram style Yoga, along with Vinyassa Flow and Hot Pilates. I tried out both their Vinyassa Yoga Flow and Pilates, and really liked both classes. I love the studio even more that they have Mind Body class reservation system in place to help me coordinate my week + stay organized on line. :) Depending on the instructors, some classes are easier/harder but non the less, a great workout for all levels. Charlene the owner did a fantastic job of creating a warm and open environment for all levels to feel welcome and at home. I am excited that Hot Yoga Escape is in Mount Vernon, and love LOVE this little studio in small town Ohio.

I…read morehave heard that yoga is good for getting in shape and restoring flexibility, so I decided to give our local studio a try. My wife and I tried showing up while a class was in session 2 months ago, but the doors were locked, so I assume they only have the doors open shortly before a class with the instructor the only employee on site, then lock the doors for security. No problem, fair enough. I recently decided the best approach would be to submit an email through their website. I was ready to roll and sent a message similar to what I've said so far. There was no reply for over a day so a little bent out of shape I sent another message with obviously hurt feelings, which did prompt a response. Charlene Brande sent from her iPhone "How can I help you?" I could be wrong but I was assuming the owner of a yoga studio would have a clue on what kind of help I was looking for. I responded again still with hurt feelings explained how awkward it was for me to start with and this kind of reply didn't help, so for my efforts I have been ignored, i decided to go ahead and try yoga via streaming service. While doing my beginner yoga, I told my wife about what was going on, and apparently she had called 2 months ago and got ignored also. This place has a nice website and some interesting classes laid out which I assume I will never now that the communication got weird to non existent. The fact that she does her business through her phone exemplifies that she doesn't care about her potential clients or somehow she has some "weeding out " process. What a way to run a business.

It really is a total body workout that has small impact on your joints (bad knees? no problem - you can alter your movement so it doesn't agitate that area), and it is open to ALL age levels (seriously, everyone from high school students to snowbirds come to classes). I love how many different ways there are to get involved in it too - from holiday parties to "bring on the men" classes to pure barre bingo. You come for the workout, and you stay for the community. It really is one big family there, and everyone is always celebrating the other's victories (like becoming a part of the 100 Tuck Club, 250 Tuck Club, etc.). And congrats to Tiffany and Meredith for opening the studio 5+ years ago - it isn't easy to run a small business, and they manage it with ease.

My neighbor had raved about Pure Barre and I could see the changes it had made in her already fit body, so I knew I had to give it a try! I was instantly hooked! There is a wonderful "community" feeling. 3. Signing up for the classes holds you accountable. (Honestly I'm sad when I have to cancel a class). And 4. They hold fun challenges to keep it interesting! I definitely recommend Pure Barre Hudson to anyone looking to get fit and have fun doing it!
